This is information we can currently give out regarding the cards and how they work.
  • People seem to call them simply as "Black Cards" although "God cards" are also used.
  • Cards work through a Lantern Ring way. Once in the possession of a compatible owner, it will become one with the card owner.
  • Touching the card grants the person who touched it powers of the god listed in the card. The person who touches the card is also considered the card's owner. Sometimes however, cards are not compatible with a person, in that case, the card will reject the person and will not grant them powers.
  • Not one person can manifest powers from two different cards. if they touch another compatible card, the powers from their old card is removed from them.
  • In the case where a person using a card loses their powers (ie. because of an ability that removes powers OR because they touched another compatible card and removed the powers of their old card) they must touch their card again to regain those powers.
  • It doesn't matter which part of the body makes contact with the card to access it's powers.
  • Animals and plants cannot gain access to the powers granted by the card.
  • The text on the card can only be read by those compatible with that particular card. If you look at a card's text that you are not compatible with, it will only show strange symbols and the god's symbol.
  • You can level up a card by performing tasks that seem to be pleasing to the god marked in that card. Leveling up a card allows you to gain access to more powers.
  • There will be rare occasions where the card changes from being compatible to a person to being incompatible. This is due to the person's actions. When the card becomes incompatible with the owner, it no longer allows access to the god's powers. However as long as the person haven't touched another compatible card, it will still consider that person it's "owner".
  • If the owner dies, the card will still function normally and will grant powers to the next compatible person that touches it.

3. Remember that cards give only a piece of a god's powers... not all of them.

God Details: Set is the Egyptian god of storms and the desert, chaos and darkness. It was he that killed the rightful king and overthrew him, under his rule darkness reigned until Horus defeated him and cast him down.
Powers: Sin Sight - User can see into the hearts of corrupted men and women and see their darkest desires and dark deeds for the past seven days.
Set's Voice: The user's voice is filled with Set's mighty influence, with it the user can control the feeble-minded and spread conflict and discord. However, be warned, those with strong minds are naturally impervious to Set's voice, and those with great willpower can throw off the user's influence.

Backstory: At the age of eighteen, Mabel Winterhart got involved with the mafia and eventually fell into relationship with a crimelord, a relationship that last only six months when said crimelord turned on her for what he thought of as sabotaging a precious mission, leaving her behind then coming back and attempting to kill her. Mabel Winterhart then went into hiding, changing her name and appearance. It wasn't said crimelord was caught and sentenced to life in prison that she came out of hiding. She had also been stalked by a teenage serial killer who wanted her to play with her otherwise she will stab people, this continued on for days, even weeks until she unfortunately let something "slip" about the Mafia's plans and the crime lord was forced to kill the Serial Killer to tie up loose ends. Other than that she is a pretty mysterious individual whose past is unknown.

She has very soft feminine features, almond shaped brown eyes, and long dirty blonde hair that reaches just below her mid back. Some people mistake her for a child, something Lola doesn't find funny.

Persephone, Goddess Of Spring, Queen of The Underworld
God Details:
Persephone, the daughter of Zues and Demter and the wife of Hades. She was kidnapped by Hades, and when Zeus came to bring her back, she said she wanted to live with her husband in the underworld. She had eaten pomegranate seeds, and eating food from the under world makes you wanna live there. And here comes a comprimise. Half of the year, Persephone would be in the underworld, during the months of autum and winter, and the other half of the year, she would live in Olympus with the other gods, during Spring and Summer.
Powers: Passive = Can't turn it off/Active = Can turn it off
Physic - Passive: Due to Persephone's obvious connction to the underworld, the owner of her card develops the ability to see, communicate, and interacte with the deceased. While they cannot send the sprits to the underworld, or use them to their advantage for more than information or company, and talking to a ghost in public makes you look like a crazy person but sometimes everyone needs someone to talk to yeah? Nope. Lola has to pick and choose carefully because not every spirit is good, and can and will cause her harm given the chance. Some spirit's will stick around longer than welcome, and others don't look human. Those are the ones you defeintly stay away from, spirits that have been stuck for too long, and whose been corrupted in one way or another. And not everyone is in the mood to talk. She is stronger against possible possession and spiritual attacks, but only as strong as someone with high will power.

Calming Aura - Passive: This Calming Aura is primarily aimed towards animals, with limitations towards humans, and allows Lola to handle situations that some people wouldn't be able to. When it comes to animals, almost any animal can be calmed simply by being in her presence, and while it helps to hear her voice, 1-3 minutes is all it takes. Sometimes longer if the animal in question is particularly scared or hostile, but most will eventually calm down. This is a big help when she volunteers at Purrfect Paws. To humans, it's a little more complicated. Since humans are mamals, and therefore animals, her Calming Aura will work on them, but there need's to already be an emotional connection of some sort, positive typically works the best, as dislike means she can't really calm someone down unless they're a very resonable person. It also doesn't work on everyone, if the person is to angry or if they are just totally ignoring her, so it's not as effective. For humans, it requires a bit of focus on both sides.

Flormogriphication - Active: An ability that can cause problems for anyone caught on the other side. Well, one of the other sides I suppose. Lola has the ability to turn organic matter, that is not plant life, into plant. Animals and people have the possibility to be turned into plants, however, that's at a higher level. As of right now, Lola is limited to using her own blood. A bit morbid, yes, but it allows her to create plants on the fly. There are limitations as to what she can create as well, limited to smaller flora items, nothing with thorns, but like her expansion with what organic material she can use, what she can create will expand as well. Practice is what she needs in order to get better at this, though emotional and moral hang ups can prevent one from moving on. However, she wouldn't lose her ability to create plants from her own blood, but if she over does it, she could possibly turn herself, or something important into a plant. Or cause herself to bleed out if she desides to make to many wothout a break.

Plant Manipulation - Active: Of course, the Goddess of Spring would be able to manipulate plants, and so would her cardholder. The card holder will be able to not only be able to manipulate the growth of plants, but be able to bend them to their will. At first, Lola a fairly unsatble control of this ability. It seems to be connected to her emtions, the more stable her emotions are, the better her control is, even if that control needs to be worked on. She will be able to get to the point where she can bend any plant to her will, but she is limited to basic movements. Most of which would be good for defense. If she loses her emotional control, any plant movement is difficult to control and unreliable, but plant growth, something that is fairly simple in concept, and easy to grasp, is subconsciously put into overdrive. Any plants within a five foot radius will grow uncontrolled until she moves out of range, and it will even be possible on rare occasions for flowers to sprout in her hair if it's an emotional extreme she can't calm down from quickly.

Mulberry Flowers: A small flower store that sells a good number of arrangements and a few gardening tools. There aren't many employees, only 8, including yours truly. Named after the orginal owner, Martha Mulberry, the small shop has been up and running, family owned for 50 years.
Purrfect Paws Rescue: A volunteer rescue orginization that mainly deals with recusing cats from kill shelters and terrible conditions, though they save dogs as well. Lola volunteers her time in heloing to rehabilitate the cats and dogs who have social issuses or are to scared to interact with humans healthily. She has even helped with the rehabilitation of truly aggressive dogs that wouldn't have been adoptable. They have three different main locations throughout the city, and work with smaller pet stores and has many foster opportunities.
Personaity:
Lola is the type of girl most people ignore, but the one your parents want you to turn out like. She doesn't drink she doesn't smoke anything, she hardly seems to go out anywhere other than work, but she's also the girl that seems to really enjoy life, even if she has to take life a little seriously. She's mature for her age, well compared to some people her age, but she didn't have much choice. She doesn't laugh as jokes most people would find funny, or take part in a lot of the activities most people around her enjoy, and so, like mentioned, she goes unnoticed. That's okay, she's fairly quiet anyway, enjoying reading, relaxing, and videogames over other stuff. It does kinda suck that nobody takes time to get to know her, the real her. The one that's always there for you no matter what, the one who's a great shoulder to cry on and will totally not ask question if you just need someone to drop in and keep you company for no given reason. Anyway, Lola was once described as the most empathetic force of nature that person had evern met. She was kind, always putting others infront of herself despite her own struggling. She keeps her problems hidden, perfering to deal with them by herself unless she absolutely needs help, and it's gonna be heard for her to actually talk about what's bothering her.
Backstory:
Lola Marie Miller was born in San Diego, California to a pair of fairly successful lawyers. As you may assume, being lawyers doesn't leave a lot of time to be with your childern, and after she was aboue two years old, it was a miracle if she saw them more than once a week. So, she was raised by her grandparents, a kind pair, while stern, gave her a happy life in place of what her parents were missing out on. Until they moved to Manhatten when she was 7. Better opportunities and a bigger clientele pool, those were the reasons. It tore her away from her grandparents, and into the arms of interchanging nannies and afterschool tutors as her parents were in fact trying to make her follow in their footsteps. After a few years, they left her on her own, which forced her to learn how to look after herself. She taught herself how to cook, and bake through online videos, and took up most of the house chores because her parents weren't going to do it. Lola neber really compained much, even if they never thanked her, but she did wish she could have acted like a kid. She was the one at the birthday party that the parents would ask to keep an eye on everyone else while they went off to do whatever it was.

She did well in school, and graduated near the top of her class. She defeintly could have done better, but she had recently lost her pet cat, Leo. He was a white cat with blue eyes, and he was just the cutest little thing. She actully recently found his collar and started wearing it as a bracelet oddly enough. Her parents thought it was inexcusable, and so wouldn't ya know it, she moved out as soon as she could. At first it was a little hard, since Manhatten is an expensive city, but zhe soon got the hang of it. Her parents were helping her pay for her aparment, until she gets a better job or starts going to college, which she's going to do just not yet, and Lola is really enjoying her life so far. Though things got a luttle more interesting when she found an envelope addressed to her, and inside was a black card and a letter.

Not to mention, the ghost cat Leo.

Evan's right ear holds an earring, a family heirloom passed down throughout the generations. The earring itself is 2 and a half inches long and is essentially a yellow tassel. On Evan's body lies numerous tattoos depicting arcane and occult iconography, mostly in the form of leering demonic faces, they range from subtle to openly ostentatious.

    Personality:
    Evan gives the impression that his general demeanor is cheerful, eccentric and sarcastic. Despite the surface impression, however, he is generally unassuming and is self-deprecating. He has also confessed to being envious of other people. Nevertheless, he accepts these qualities to be repellent to other people, thus he has gained a love for humor and smiling, and acts in a spontaneous manner. He likely believes he can not maintain friendships otherwise. Viewing dead bodies and listening to the stories of World War 2 veterans may differ greatly but they share an odd uniqueness from Evan’s point of view.

    After finishing his major education, he moved on to work in his county’s coroner office where some of the more ‘creative’ bodies are sent. This freaked Evan out and turned him away from the job but he soon came back after finding no other coroner job in the area. The time spent there was fun, especially with his eccentric and overall funny assistants, however they soon grew to become annoying after they would tell the same joke five times in a row after seeing the same body five times in a row.

    With income and a somewhat appreciated job, Evan’s life looked up but one day, one corpse had something strange inside of it. Evan, being the coroner he is, opened up the corpse and found a letter addressed to him. This kind of delivery service was uncommon in his county so Evan decided to try and at least monopolize on it. Opening the letter presented a strange black card. As Evan viewed the card’s front, his mind pondered on how this was even possible. Perhaps it was the occult? Or perhaps it’s something much more sinister.

    Personality: Ben is a private investigator; once the best in his field, and still holding up as a cunning and dependable man. He solved more cases over the years than he'd bother counting, and he is now interested in solving cases related to the appearance of the mysterious black cards, as well as passing on his skills to his protégé; Amara Djinn.

    Ben was always well-read and intelligent, but above that, he was always meticulous, streetsmart and witty. He can get out of difficult situations thanks to experience and tidbits of practical knowledge. He gave his entire life to the trade of investigation, deduction, and catching criminals, and since he has nothing else to do, he continues his work even in retirement.

    He is somewhat cynical and bitter, having a misanthropic worldview. He is a retired, city beat cop and grizzled FBI agent, as salty as they come. He has grown jaded to things like death and doesn't even pause at the sight of blood or gore, but despite that, he still has a good heart driving him: this, and his natural cunning and aptitude for using it for the people's good, is what made Enki choose him as the holder of his card.

    Backstory: Ben was the son of the NYPD police commissioner, back when crime in the city was at its peak. His father instilled into him a strong sense of morals, and Ben decided to go in his old man's footsteps; he graduated from the police academy as one of the best cadets, and was soon promoted to junior detective, then inspector, thanks to his aptitude for crime-solving.

    After a successful career working for the NYPD, he was offered a station in the FBI, which he accepted with encouragement from his father. He has signed an NDA to not disclose anything of his time with the agency. He worked with the FBI for many years, and during his time there, he became jaded and insensitive. After all the work he's done, he has been allowed to retire early for reasons best left unmentioned, with additional retirement funds.

    He decided to put his money to use by opening a private investigation office and solving cases. Recently, however, he received a mysterious black card...

Birdsie Birdsie Everything is great, but get rid of water manipulation. I'd save that ability for someone who is just a sea god like Poseidon.

Done! Wasn't really big on water manipulation. Just kind of tacked it in there, since it's also a part of Enki's attributes, but I'd honestly rather play a guy who relies on trickery and tinkering. It seems more fun that way.

I can see where you are coming from with the powers, but I would prefer you stick to more abstract powers rather than simply transforming onto your god through the card. The ability to summon weaponry and armor are things that you would only be able to do after you have leveled up your card.

I would save those ideas, but we cannot allow them this early in the game. Try to think on the fringes of what Arawn is the god of. For example, if I were writing powers for Odin, his first abilities would be things like "the ability to talk to birds" or even "near future premonition".

Summoming weapons and armor, as well as your god's personality should wait til your character has a deeper understanding of the cards, and not at the very beginning.

    Personality: Compared to his boss, Amara Djinn has a much cheerier outlook on life. He originally joined the NYPD to make a difference and he believes he can make just as much of a difference as a private detective. He has quite a bit of confidence about him, feeling as if he can do anything so long as he puts his mind to it and tries hard enough.

    He enjoys making jokes and quips, usually to bring a little levity to a serious situation. He believes that laughing really is the best medicine sometimes and it can help you deal with the stress of the moment. Sometimes he enters into snark territory, usually when talking to people he’s interrogating or helping to interrogate.

    Despite all appearances, Amara takes his job very seriously. He is genuinely dedicated to his job and making the world a better place. He wants to make sure that there are less criminals out there than before and that people can feel safe.

    Backstory: Amara has a really boring backstory. For most of his life he enjoys reading mystery novels and he thought that detectives were the coolest things ever. As such his dream job was being a detective for for the NYPD.

    He held on to that dream for quite a long time and finally achieved it following college graduation and police academy training. It only lasted a little while, not because he was did a bad job and was fired or anything, but because he met Benjamin Martin in a bar and for some reason he ended up quitting and working for him instead.

    As of recently, Amara found a card on the floor along with his rent and bills upon returning to his apartment...

Image/Description: Noemi is insanely small. For starters, she's only 4'11, barely taller than some people several years younger than her. Even the average high school boy could most likely dwarf her in an instant. Not only that, but she's remarkably thin, clocking in at about 99 pounds. In spite of that fact, her body is mostly pudge, and she has an especially round face with soft cheeks and a slightly dimpled chin. Her eyes are brown, and always behind a pair of blue, rectangular glasses. Her skin tone is a relatively light sandy tone much paler than most people of her race. Her hair is black, shaved into a sort of mohawk that hangs leftwards over one eye. The tips of her hair are colored a very dark blue-green color. She's also rarely seen without a beanie covering the back of her head, usually an average purple or pink one. She has a metal septum piercing, three ear piercings in each ear (lobe, daith and orbital on both sides.) Her eyebrows are shaved and usually drawn in. She also wears a deep purple, green or black lipstick almost every day. Her teeth are normal, albeit with a wide gap between the front two.

Moving downwards, her chest is small for her age, to the point that she often doesn't need to wear a bra. Her neck is thin with noticeable muscles and collarbones, and she has small shoulders. Her arms are proportioned normally to her body, and dusted with freckles that can also be seen on her face. Her stomach sort of hangs outward, mostly when she hunches over, which is always. Her thighs are skinny, and feet small. She rarely ever shaves her legs or armpits.

Coming around to clothing, Noemi always wears as many layers as feasible considering the weather. She hates shorts and will never be seen wearing them. Most commonly, her get-up involves a scarf, a weighty jacket, sweatpants and sneakers. This type of baggy clothing makes her body look much bigger than it actually is. She also owns a wide array of hoodies that she likes to hide inside of when people start talking to her. She cannot stand the texture of blue jeans, and seemingly wears only sweats and yoga pants. She owns a few dresses, but will rarely ever be seen in them.

Xolotl is associated with many things. He is the twin brother of Quetzalcoatl and son of the virgin Coatlicue, who created the moon, sun and stars according to Aztec myth. His job was to lead souls into the underworld, as well as protect the sun during the nights, where it goes through the underworld. Most often, Xolotl is depicted as a strange-looking dog bearing the wind jewel and ear ornaments. He had many god titles, and was god of fire, lightning, twins, monsters, misfortune, sickness and deformity. He is often followed by dogs.

Powers:
  • Dogspeak: The ability to communicate with dogs. Also is just constantly followed around by them.
  • Disease Induction: Can cause disease through touch. For the moment, nothing stronger than a cold, and can only be transmitted through touch.
  • Vermin Friendship: Along with dogs, a user of the Xolotl card also has dominion over "vermin" species and parasites, AKA our modern-day monstrosities. This includes but is not limited to rats, ticks, termites, wasps, pigeons, roaches, and botflies. They can communicate to some extent and will follow the user relentlessly.
  • Bad Luck: More of a weakness than a power, users of the Xolotl card are almost always stricken with poor luck. This can be anything from getting pooped on by a bird to crashing a car.
  • Preference: The Xolotl card is most compatible with people who are deformed, sick, or disabled. Not really a power, more of just a tidbit.
  • Twin Brother: If the carrier of the Xolotl card were to meet the carrier of the Quetzalcoatl card, their powers combined could create an incomprehensible level of energy. It's unknown what exactly will happen, but it'll be terrifying, no doubt.

  • Purrfect Paws Rescue: Noemi calls it her "side hustle". She works with socializing dogs due to having owned several shelter dogs in the past, as well as cats. (Though not as often).
Personality: Noemi is a gruff and often harsh person. Most people find her difficult to get along with, as she often reads as judgemental, pretentious, antisocial, or just really fucking mean. Which is kind of true. Noemi has no intention of being mean. She's extremely genuine, absolutely to a fault. If you look like shit, she will tell you that. She has next to no filter and doesn't often display much emotion. Which isn't to say she's a bad person, she sincerely has no idea she comes off this way to people. It's difficult to tell whether she likes you or not, since she's extremely antisocial and will never ask to hang out with you first.

She does have an extreme soft spot for animals, especially rodents and dogs. She keeps two pet rats who she dotes on almost to an extreme degree. She's also deeply passionate about cartoons (especially anime) and tabletop roleplaying games. However, in her free time she prefers to be completely alone, with only her rats as company. Her sense of humor is particularly dry and bleak, to the point where it's difficult to tell whether she's being sarcastic or serious.

In spite of her many faults, Noemi is a very loyal friend, with her greatest shortcoming being an inability to show affection. She will always give people the straightforward truth, even if it hurts a little bit. She's emotionally difficult, but arguably, worth it in the end.

Backstory: Noemi was the daughter of a prostitute, one of two twins. The son was taken into police custody and never heard from again. The decision of who would be saddled with Noemi was difficult, but she found her way into the hands of her birth father. The man was a rampant alcoholic, and often neglectful of his daughter. Due to a poor police force in her area, this wasn't dealt with for a long time. She was severely malnourished and had a fair amount of trouble in the growth and development department. Her skin got dry, she developed anemia and diabetes, and she never grew any taller than 4'11.

When she was 11, she was found alone in her home. The house was filthy, and she clearly hadn't eaten in awhile. Her father was already under fire for carrying more than the legal amount of cocaine. (Which is 500g in Mexico as of 2009.) Now he was quickly locked up for child neglect. Upon evaluating Noemi, it was discovered she had a severe iron deficiency, and her insulin levels were dangerously low. What's more, she had trouble reading. (Though could speak fluently.) Whilst trying to decide what to do with Noemi, her mother suddenly re-appeared, now working a stable job. They quickly moved to the states as soon as the legal issues were worked out. All of the court drama took about a year, leaving Noemi at about 12.

It was then that Noemi very slowly began to rebuild her life, though she could never truly be normal. Making friends came with the fear that they might leave, and she still suffers from PTSD due to her early-life experiences. Integrating her into society was difficult, but she managed to reach an adequate level about three years later. During this time, Noemi was finally able to explore something she never had before -- hobbies.

In her home in Mexico, there was little to do with herself. However, now she was living in a surprisingly cushy environment, in spite of her mother's more-than-humble beginnings. But she very quickly took to art, as it allowed her to express her emotions visually in ways that she couldn't verbally. Despite years of therapy, she still couldn't manage to discuss her trauma, but boy could she ever paint it. She became an art fanatic, loving all mediums from cartooning to painting to sculpting. During these years she discovered all sorts of new interests, things that she could finally latch onto. One complicated graduation later, and she was off to art school.

She had no interest in the social aspects of college, and alienated herself from her peers. She was purely here to learn, and learn she would. Noemi managed to work out an agreement with a classmate, and the two rent an apartment together, so long as he stays on "his side of the house", which is marked clearly in tape on the floor.

Morpheus and his brothers also all have wings, so he can fly as well.

  • Dream manipulation and sight: The ability to control the dreams of others. The lower-level version of this power only allows the user to give dreams, but they cannot control the content. At a higher level, the user can not only control the content of the dreams, but they can give waking dreams akin to hallucinations. This card also allows the user to see into people's dreams.
  • Shape-shifting: The recipient of this card can completely transform themselves if in a dream. There are restrictions, however -- they can only change themselves within the limits of still being a human. They cannot change into animals or inanimate objects.
  • Minor future vision: Morpheus sometimes gives oracle dreams, but how can this happen if one cannot see the future? This is a very limited power, and even at its highest levels the user can only see a few days into the future at most. They can get a general idea of what's going on, but details are fuzzy. Initially, though, they can only see the next few minutes.
  • Sleep: The user has the ability to put others to sleep by touching them. The length of time that they can stay asleep depends on the level of the card.

Personality: Juniper is generally a very relaxing person. Not relaxed -- she's actually rather high-strung -- but relaxing. She has a quality of making others feel calm and welcome, and while she's not exactly charming or flirty, she's great with people. She's the type of person where friends would come to her dorm when they were having a crisis and she'd be able to talk with them and soothe them. Seemingly, the only person she can't relax is herself! You'd be hard-pressed to find someone more simultaneously calming and anxious than Juniper. When alone, she's pretty much always scattered, never able to quite keep track of all of her responsibilities. Whether it's leaving her notebook on her desk or forgetting that she was supposed to hold office hours that day, she's always forgetting something. And she's so aware of this that she has a lot of anxiety about what she's going to screw up next -- but this tends to make things worse for her. She gets a kind of tunnel vision, stressing so much about what the most important thing coming up is that anything less crucial can kind of fall by the wayside. However, despite this frazzled interior, she always projects a calm persona -- fake it 'til you make it, right?

Her mother, Jang-Mi, was a stay-at-home mom, while her father, Ki-Nam, worked long hours in a nearby factory. They were a very happy family for a while, but things became harder when Juniper was three years old and her brother, Theodore, came along. Theodore was a sickly child, and was born with a congenital heart defect. This was amended through several surgeries, but the medical bills started piling up and their serene home life became a lot more difficult. Ki-Nam and Jang-Mi began to fight constantly about money. Actually, a fight would imply that both parties were participating, but it was more Ki-Nam screaming at Jang-Mi until he tired himself out. Juniper grew scared of her father, and would never stand up to him, so she did the only thing she could: calm her mother down afterwards. They'd talk, maybe play a small game or bake or do some other activity to take her mind off of her troubles for a while, and that seemed to help a lot. She learned from a young age that she had to push her problems down and never show that she was struggling, because she had to be strong for her mom. Her parents never divorced or separated, so she had to deal with this basically up until she left for college.

Upon beginning school, Juniper was concentrated on being a good student. She didn't want to cause any problems for her parents, so she strove to be independent and a hard worker. She wasn't number one student or anything, but certainly up there. She surrounded herself with a small, studious group of friends and they all did their schoolwork together and sometimes did more fun things on weekends. She became enamored with politics in high school, and began contemplating studying that in the future. She qualified for a scholarship to a nearby prestigious college, UC Berkeley, and lost contact with these friends upon leaving. This was sad, but some friendships really hinge on proximity, and when she moved away to school, it just became too hard to keep in touch. However, she still called her mom almost every day to make sure she was doing alright. In her undergraduate years, Juniper decided to major in political science, with a minor in public policy. She is currently working on her masters in polisci and also is a (paid!) graduate teaching assistant for several classes.     Personality: Malik is about as laid back as it gets. Highly informal to all but his superiors, the only time he doesn't go with the flow is when he has to run the flow at his job. He can be pretty flirtatious and talkative, which helps put people at ease. He rarely ever dresses professionally, but his competence at the job makes his superiors overlook some of the dresscode standards he doesn't want to appeal to. He doesn't believe you need black suit and tie to talk to the CEO, so he wouldn't wear it unless there were very special circumstances. Overall, he's very very good at his job, very smart. His co-workers and subordinates are very much loyal to him. His ideas manage to rake in lots of dough for the resort even at the lowest times of the year.
    That isn't to say he's perfect. He's big on "out with the old, in with the new", especially when it comes to people. He's sarcastic and extremely quick with the wit, and the tongue is nondiscriminatory. He's been known to cancel reservations, and kick out people who are discriminatory or rude to his workers. He can be overdramatic, hailing from his drama nerd path in high school. If you don't like this in a senior manager, it will annoy the hell out of you, as it does his superiors. If he weren't so good at his job, he would've been fired already.

Image/Description: Noemi is insanely small. For starters, she's only 4'11, barely taller than some people several years younger than her. Even the average high school boy could most likely dwarf her in an instant. Not only that, but she's remarkably thin, clocking in at about 99 pounds. In spite of that fact, her body is mostly pudge, and she has an especially round face with soft cheeks and a slightly dimpled chin. Her eyes are brown, and always behind a pair of blue, rectangular glasses. Her skin tone is a relatively light sandy tone much paler than most people of her race. Her hair is black, shaved into a sort of mohawk that hangs leftwards over one eye. The tips of her hair are colored a very dark blue-green color. She's also rarely seen without a beanie covering the back of her head, usually an average purple or pink one. She has a metal septum piercing, three ear piercings in each ear (lobe, daith and orbital on both sides.) Her eyebrows are shaved and usually drawn in. She also wears a deep purple, green or black lipstick almost every day. Her teeth are normal, albeit with a wide gap between the front two.

Moving downwards, her chest is small for her age, to the point that she often doesn't need to wear a bra. Her neck is thin with noticeable muscles and collarbones, and she has small shoulders. Her arms are proportioned normally to her body, and dusted with freckles that can also be seen on her face. Her stomach sort of hangs outward, mostly when she hunches over, which is always. Her thighs are skinny, and feet small. She rarely ever shaves her legs or armpits.

Coming around to clothing, Noemi always wears as many layers as feasible considering the weather. She hates shorts and will never be seen wearing them. Most commonly, her get-up involves a scarf, a weighty jacket, sweatpants and sneakers. This type of baggy clothing makes her body look much bigger than it actually is. She also owns a wide array of hoodies that she likes to hide inside of when people start talking to her. She cannot stand the texture of blue jeans, and seemingly wears only sweats and yoga pants. She owns a few dresses, but will rarely ever be seen in them.

Xolotl is associated with many things. He is the twin brother of Quetzalcoatl and son of the virgin Coatlicue, who created the moon, sun and stars according to Aztec myth. His job was to lead souls into the underworld, as well as protect the sun during the nights, where it goes through the underworld. Most often, Xolotl is depicted as a strange-looking dog bearing the wind jewel and ear ornaments. He had many god titles, and was god of fire, lightning, twins, monsters, misfortune, sickness and deformity. He is often followed by dogs.

Powers:
  • Dogspeak: The ability to communicate with dogs. Also is just constantly followed around by them.
  • Electricity: Electric power courses through the user's body, dormant until summoned for use in the form of lightning. Can also be converted into flames through a complicated internal form-changing process.
  • Touch of Death: So long as the user is touching the opponent for a period of time, disease spreads through that area of the body from the point of contact. This can cause death, but is quickly reversed by simply removing the user's hand from your body. It's also difficult to control, meaning oftentimes accidentally giving your good friends a three-second plague.
  • Vermin Friendship: Along with dogs, a user of the Xolotl card also has dominion over "vermin" species and parasites, AKA our modern-day monstrosities. This includes but is not limited to rats, ticks, termites, wasps, pigeons, roaches, and botflies. They can communicate to some extent and will follow the user relentlessly.
  • Bad Luck: More of a weakness than a power, users of the Xolotl card are almost always stricken with poor luck. This can be anything from getting pooped on by a bird to crashing a car.
  • Preference: The Xolotl card is most compatible with people who are deformed, sick, or disabled. Not really a power, more of just a tidbit.
  • Twin Brother: If the carrier of the Xolotl card were to meet the carrier of the Quetzalcoatl card, their powers combined could create an incomprehensible level of energy. It's unknown what exactly will happen, but it'll be terrifying, no doubt.
Occupation: Art school

  • Sherwood Art Academy: The local art school. Relatively small, but still difficult to get into due to high standards.
  • Purrfect Paws Rescue: Noemi calls it her "side hustle". She works with socializing dogs due to having owned several shelter dogs in the past, as well as cats. (Though not as often).
Personality: Noemi is a gruff and often harsh person. Most people find her difficult to get along with, as she often reads as judgemental, pretentious, antisocial, or just really fucking mean. Which is kind of true. Noemi has no intention of being mean. She's extremely genuine, absolutely to a fault. If you look like shit, she will tell you that. She has next to no filter and doesn't often display much emotion. Which isn't to say she's a bad person, she sincerely has no idea she comes off this way to people. It's difficult to tell whether she likes you or not, since she's extremely antisocial and will never ask to hang out with you first.

She does have an extreme soft spot for animals, especially rodents and dogs. She keeps two pet rats who she dotes on almost to an extreme degree. She's also deeply passionate about cartoons (especially anime) and tabletop roleplaying games. However, in her free time she prefers to be completely alone, with only her rats as company. Her sense of humor is particularly dry and bleak, to the point where it's difficult to tell whether she's being sarcastic or serious.

In spite of her many faults, Noemi is a very loyal friend, with her greatest shortcoming being an inability to show affection. She will always give people the straightforward truth, even if it hurts a little bit. She's emotionally difficult, but arguably, worth it in the end.

Backstory: Noemi was the daughter of a prostitute, one of two twins. The son was taken into police custody and never heard from again. The decision of who would be saddled with Noemi was difficult, but she found her way into the hands of her birth father. The man was a rampant alcoholic, and often neglectful of his daughter. Due to a poor police force in her area, this wasn't dealt with for a long time. She was severely malnourished and had a fair amount of trouble in the growth and development department. Her skin got dry, she developed anemia and diabetes, and she never grew any taller than 4'11.

When she was 11, she was found alone in her home. The house was filthy, and she clearly hadn't eaten in awhile. Her father was already under fire for carrying more than the legal amount of cocaine. (Which is 500g in Mexico as of 2009.) Now he was quickly locked up for child neglect. Upon evaluating Noemi, it was discovered she had a severe iron deficiency, and her insulin levels were dangerously low. What's more, she had trouble reading. (Though could speak fluently.) Whilst trying to decide what to do with Noemi, her mother suddenly re-appeared, now working a stable job. They quickly moved to the states as soon as the legal issues were worked out. All of the court drama took about a year, leaving Noemi at about 12.

It was then that Noemi very slowly began to rebuild her life, though she could never truly be normal. Making friends came with the fear that they might leave, and she still suffers from PTSD due to her early-life experiences. Integrating her into society was difficult, but she managed to reach an adequate level about three years later. During this time, Noemi was finally able to explore something she never had before -- hobbies.

In her home in Mexico, there was little to do with herself. However, now she was living in a surprisingly cushy environment, in spite of her mother's more-than-humble beginnings. But she very quickly took to art, as it allowed her to express her emotions visually in ways that she couldn't verbally. Despite years of therapy, she still couldn't manage to discuss her trauma, but boy could she ever paint it. She became an art fanatic, loving all mediums from cartooning to painting to sculpting. During these years she discovered all sorts of new interests, things that she could finally latch onto. One complicated graduation later, and she was off to art school.

She had no interest in the social aspects of college, and alienated herself from her peers. She was purely here to learn, and learn she would. Noemi managed to work out an agreement with a classmate, and the two rent an apartment together, so long as he stays on "his side of the house", which is marked clearly in tape on the floor.
