Raven Murders D&D5e

Grimsvald

Elder Member
This will be a gloomy, gruesome, low magic game. Focused mostly on role play and low levels. I am looking for 2-3 players with a max of 1magic user.

Ravens gather at a southern town house before the sun has a chance to rise. A talon taunts every available purch and ledge at the home. Their cawing calls the village to wake. There has been another murder. Just like the last and the one before it.

The victim is found sitting in their home facing the door. Their head sits 15ft in front of them looking back at them, the ground beneath it scorched black and purple. The wound on the body looks rotted and diseased. The house is full of signs of struggle, but no one has heard a thing all night.

There have been a string of grizzly murders in this small rainy town of Beryl Meadow. Each murder is the same, but there is no clear connection between the victims. Will you be the ones to crack this case and bring some justice to this village?

Would you prefer it if those interested were rather well-versed in the d&d world? I’ve tried to play it before but it’s always fallen through/died before anything really happened, so I’m not completely positive on how everything works. I’m completely willing to go read up on stuff though.

I can help you make a character. It can be pretty simple after that. Role play as normal and I will ask you to make specific rolls when I need them. When battle starts you will have a set amount of actions. Standard Actions, Movement Action and Bonus Actions. Read the defenition of each to get a feel of battle. When other options arise I will let you know.

How does that sound?

Do you have any idea what class or race you would like to play? Any ideas for what kind of character you want them to be?

Thank you for expressing interest. Any idea what kinda of character you will build?

You said low-magic, right? If you're willing to bend on that, I'd like to make a warlock.

1 magic user is allowed and you are the first to ask, so build them and let me have a look.

Halflings are great! Did you know what class you wanted? Since a caster class has already been chosen your options are Barbarian, fighter, rogue. Ranger if you forgo the magic and paladin depending on how you are willing to play them.

Do you have a visual in mind for this character? Your character will be met with prejuduce from most NPCs. Also, have you read the new information on Cambions and subraces in the Mordenkainen’s book? It is great information.

i do have a visual in mind, and yeah, she's probably going to be working with disguises a lot, as she's very definitively off and will be used to some suspicious looks.
also, yes, i have! i'm thinking glasya for her heritage.

That is a great choice! Lightfoot is a good subrace for rogues. Did you want to focus on damage, traps, theft or disguises? Did you have a prefered weapon type?

Awesome! I love all the subraces they added in. I try to encourage my players to draw more influence from their demon of choice when developing their characters look. So maybe bronze skin, small horns, moon blade tail, if anything like that catches youe fancy.

awesome!! yeah, i'm a big fan of tieflings in general (i have,,, a lot) so i love making each and every one of them as unique as i can.
will two rogues be a problem by the way? (like a single rogue isn't already trouble enough... :p)

Two rogues cool be a problem. But there is only one real way to find out and thats to play. Also, I dont like limiting my players selection and I am already requesting low magic. So play what sounds most fun for you! Dont worry beyond that.

Maybe traps, and as far as weapons go, I was thinking something small? Maybe a knife or something?

That is a great mix. Make sure you give yourself a high Int score and a high dex score. Dexterity will increase your melee damage, stealth and armor. Intelligence will increase your understanding of traps.

Check out backgrounds and see what best fits your idea of your characters personality. Urchin might be a good place to start.

is rolling for stats also okay? or just point buy?
i'll try to get my character done asap, but it won't be too fast cuz i'm camping rn and there's limited wifi haha
