Chad''s grin slowly fell from his face when the girl squeaked. For just a moment he could have sworn she sounded exactly like his sister, Kim. He could feel his heart melting even though he didn't want it to. When the girl took off running for just a brief moment he held up a hand and thought about calling out to her. Something he would never do with any other girl. Any one else he would have just passed it off as a failure and moved on. There was a ton of good looking girls here anyway.

Chad forced himself to take a long sip of his beer and all he could think was 'Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it you idiot.' Once he had drained the beer he sighed and knew he had to go check on her.The shyness, the looks, the squeak she had made, it was like she was just a grown up version of his sister. "Fuck..." the jock muttered under his breath. His legs started moving even though his mind was screaming not to. Catching feelings for the second girl he hit on in the day. This was going to be a long trip. The basketball player grabbed his now empty bottle by the neck and chucked it over everyone into a trash can in the kitchen. He never missed. Of course.

As he walked towards the stairs and left his bag behind, Chad's eyes found Caleb. And of course the guy was hitting it off with a redhead. Of course. Chad just shook his head and grinned, walking by his friend and resting a heavy hand on his shoulder. "Hold it down for me bro. Gonna run upstairs real quick. Save some for me, yeah?" He didn't wait for an answer and after making sure no one else was watching him, the jock headed upstairs. He didn't need someone noticing he was actually being considerate or even worse that he was chasing a girl that obviously wanted nothing to do with him. With one foot on the stairs a thought occurred to Chad. He looked back at the door to find the guy that had been with Chinatown. Had he imagined it? What the hell was in that beer? He shrugged and continued upstairs.

It didn't take long to find the room that Chinatown had run to. He stood in the doorway a second and begged himself not to do this but he knew he would. He knocked on the door frame loudly, not wanting to freak her out again. "Look I think we got off on the wrong foot. I didn't mean to scare you or anything. My name's Chad. You don''t have any friends here or...?" He just guessed since the girl had run here by herself and no one seemed to care. "Well I don't either. So we can be friends, yeah? No one will scare you like that with me around. Or at least if they do I would kill them. I mean look at me." He stepped into the room and flexed. The dumb jock was trying to be nice. He swore he was.

"The Princess"

Catalina noticed people begin to show up quickly, one behind the other. She didn't realize how many people were going to be here, and that excited her. It was going to be like a huge house party all weekend, and she was down for that. "Oh my god, we have to get a drink!" she said, eyeing the drink that the boy she didn't recognize had already gotten. "I am ready to feel the buzz girlfriend," she laughed, heading to the kitchen and grabbing herself a mikes harder. They were "white girl" drinks, sure, but they tasted good and were pretty intoxicating once you had a few in you. Sadie snatched the boys drink, making Catalina raise her eyebrow. Was there a thing there that she didn't realize? She would definitely have to get the ish on that. He was okay looking, she guessed. Good enough for a beach fling for her bestie, at least.

Catalina whipped around when she heard Greyson's voice, recognizing it immediately. She smiled when she saw him, happy that he was there. Her smiled quickly disappeared though, as she realized that it seemed as though he had come with Serena. Not only that, but Serena had had her hand on his shoulder. Catalina hadn't had any major objections to their friendship, as she tried her best to be "cool" around him, though she failed... often. Really often, actually. But anyways, she hadn't had any major objections until recently, as they had been hanging around with each other quite a lot,and now they were apparently touching. The two were on the rocks at the moment, not really together but not completely broken up either. She really just wanted to start over with him, but she didn't know how to do it. She figured him offering to take bags was a good opportunity for her, though, and followed out behind him, giving Sadie a look and a point at Greyson. She would understand. She waved at Levi, who had been saying something about shots. "I'll be right back - don't get too drunk without me!"

"Hey Grey," she said as she reached where Greyson was outside. She stood close to him, not quite touching but pretty damn close. "I'm glad you're here," she said, giving him her sweetest smile. It was genuine, too. She really did like him, despite popular opinion that she was only with him because he was hot. That was really just icing on the cake, though.

"My bags are in my car... if you don't mind?" she asked, putting a hand on his arm. She had her mikes still in her other hand. "Do you want a drink?" she asked politely. She expected him to say no, considering he rarely if ever let loose like this, but she was trying to be nice.

greyson

Greyson turned around as he heard the familiar voice of Catalina, just in time to see the girl approaching and stopping directly at his side. He stood still as he waited to see whether the woman was here to slap him or not, but when the blow never came and she instead simply greeted him, he felt himself relax. Things with Catalina had been tense lately, to the point where he honestly wouldn't have been too shocked if he had received a slap. He'd been wondering for a couple of days now whether or not her being here was going to make this trip hell for him- and while her just being nice to him now didn't mean that things would stay good for the entire trip by any means, it certainly helped to at least start the trip off on a good foot.

"Hey, Cat. You look nice," he greeted in reply, matching her sweet smile with his own easygoing grin. He could have, should have, just told the girl to go away, but he genuinely liked her when she wasn't acting like a literal terrorist. Did he love her? Not really. In fact, he wasn't really sure why they were together besides the fact that they hung around in the same social circles. She was attractive, popular.. and when things were good, they were really good; Greyson felt almost obliged to be with her and he was sure that she felt the same way about him. When he ultimately did something to piss her off, he'd find something else to take up his time while he let her cool down.. but he always took her right back again. It just felt like it was what he was supposed to do.

He looked down at his own arm for just a moment when she placed her hand upon it. His mouth almost opened in an automatic 'no, let's just get your bags instead' but before he could say anything like that, Serena's words from just moment ago came to mind- you should really cut loose and enjoy yourself. Did he seem like the type of person who didn't know how to have fun? He'd been to plenty of parties, drank when the situation called for it, yet all of his friends acted like he was some celibate teetoler. It was irritating, maybe even more so than those morning he'd wake up hungover and have to listen to his parents remind him of how much he could have embarrassed them. But they weren't here to embarrass, he realized, and now was his chance to get everyone off of his back,

"Let's bring all of your bags in first, then let's grab a drink, yeah?"

Shaye tucked her legs beneath her petite frame in an attempt to make herself seem even smaller. She stared into nothingness, listening to the inaudible conversations below. Had she overreacted? Maybe. Did she make a fool out of herself? Most definitely. She knew nobody would bother to follow her, so she had time to try and clear her head before making a reappearance. At least, she thought she did...

There was a creak in the staircase, and a sudden knock on the doorway. Whipping her head to the source of the noise, Shaye saw the jock standing with an almost sheepish expression, along with something else she couldn't quite decipher.

"Look I think we got off on the wrong foot. I didn't mean to scare you or anything. My name's Chad. You don''t have any friends here or...?"

Shaye felt her cheeks heat up from embarrassment, and shook her head slightly before looking down again. Suddenly, the sheets seemed to be very fascinating, and she began to draw patterns on it. She didn't really have friends, did she? No, basically just acquaintances.

"Well I don't either. So we can be friends, yeah? No one will scare you like that with me around. Or at least if they do I would kill them. I mean look at me."

Glancing up again, the petite girl found Chad to be flexing. She couldn't help but let out a small smile, finding his efforts to comfort her as silly. Considering he felt the need to check on her after she ran off, she felt somewhat touched. For some reason, she got the vibe that this wasn't something Chad was used to doing.

"Yeah," Shaye started quietly, "I'd like that." She needed a friend, and Chad seemed willing to be one. So what that they got off on the wrong foot? Shaye was very forgiving, and always one for second chances. "Thank you, I really appreciate the effort. Fair warning, I'm not the most interesting or fun person to be around."

Another girl came in while Sadie hugged Catalina, and Sadie already loved her vibe. Releasing her friend, Sadie nodded in her direction, though her eyes slid past her as she recognized a familiar face. Greyson greeted the house with a loud GOOD AFERNOON, and Sadie grinned, waggling her fingers in his direction. She saw Serena, too, and then Matt. "What up cool kids!"

Caleb left her side to go help a girl at the door, and Sadie lifted a brow, tilting her head to the side as she considered him. Caleb? Helping a stranger? "Was there something in that beer?" She asked the closest person to her. Serena greeted her brother, too, and Sadie rolled her eyes. "Okay, I'm totally done with this situation.

As she turned, she came face to face with Levi. Or, more specifically, a bottle of whiskey. "Ooh." She reached out to grab it, snatching it out of Levi's grasp. "I call the whiskey." Matt came over then with his angry poonani bottle, and Sadie couldn't help but laugh. "Whatever, fuck it. I'm down." Catalina left her side then, and for a moment Sadie was confused, then she saw her friend point towards Greyson. Nodding in understanding, she lifted the bottle of whiskey and started towards the kitchen.

"Who's down for shots?"

Caleb wasn't exactly the type to be somebody's prince charming. Never had been. The only person throughout his life that he'd been protective of was his sister, and by looking at her now, you'd never know. She didn't need his protection anymore, not that that would ever make him stop trying. But perhaps he could try and reinvent himself on this trip. At least a little. He could see it on everybody's face-- they either hated him, or were fearful of him.

Not that that had ever bothered him before.

Peering down at the girl beneath him as she thanked him, he offered her a small yet genuine smile. She placed the box in his arms, and to him, it wasn't that heavy. But he could see how it was to her. He watched her go, stepping out of other peoples way, and then watched her make her way back. When she tripped, his eyes widened and he made as if he were going to help her, but with the box he was pretty useless. "You alright?" He asked her as she got closer, glancing around as she did.

"I'm Caleb." He responded. "And welcome to the fuckery. You picked a room yet?"

Taylor

"Me? Yeah... Yeah I'm fine." Taylor answered Caleb, attempting to maintain her nonchalant facade. He seemed genuinely concerned which was both endearing and confusing for Taylor. Taylor's thoughts ran away from her once more and she wondered whether Caleb was simply one of those graceful people, the type who never stumbles or falls so the mere sight of a trip was an ordeal. Taylor shook the thought away from the forefront of her mind, aware that she had been staring somewhat blankly at Caleb as he spoke. She refocused on his words, though through the fault of her own whimsical mind, at least part of her will always wonder if he was an elf in disguise. She forced her wandering, wondering mind to respond to his question.

"No I haven't even see the rooms yet, honestly I hadn't thought that far ahead." She confessed awkwardly. All morning the big adventure for her had simply been walking through the door, she had given little thought to what lay inside. "Are there any with, like a ton of bookcases?" She asked optimistically. As the words left her mouth she heard a voice behind her.

"Hey Cutie, kind of in the way"

Taylor quickly shuffled aside and looked behind her, a hint of blush blossoming on her cheeks. She recognised the girl from her stalking research and after the briefest of moments her name suddenly appeared in her mind. As Winnie introduced herself, the faintest of smiles spread across her lips, smug in her own semantic victory.

"I'm Taylor, I..." She began when all of a sudden a girl burst from the kitchen and fled up the stairs. Taylor's face took on a puzzled look, She could have sworn that was Shaye, if it was Taylor felt the at least some of the weight of her nerves evaporate from her shoulders. The two had spent many hours after school discussing books over the years and Taylor truly valued her opinion. If all else fails, she could happily spend the summer talking about books. Moments later an absolute giant of a man walked over and shared a few words with Caleb. Taylor was in absolute awe at his height and a flutter crossed her stomach. That was until her mind completed the mental task of linking the face to the name and realising that this was Chad. Even though her only interaction with the guy was through social media, Taylor knew enough for the all butterflies in her stomach to willingly commit seppuku.

Taylor exchanged polite hellos with Matt and Serena as they approached, reassured once more by the familiar faces. While she was little more than acquaintances with both she knew they weren't inherently horrible people... Most of the time. She hoped to get to know them a bit better of the coming days as well. Though alongside the familiar faces, swaths of strangers also appeared, both began revealing intimidatingly named bottles of liquor which revamped her fading nerves. Taylor bit her lip once more, making a mental note to stop doing so, before turning her attention back to Winnie and Caleb.
"I don't suppose either or both of you would like to help me pick a room?" She knew it was a trying request, especially when the alternative was golden brown fun magic water.

I like Taylor, but Cutie is even better.

A soft smile is on Winnie's face and before she could say something again, Winnie gets bombarded by several hellos from friends she knew.

Hey, hey Serena. Looking cute as always.

Serena was someone that Winnie could say she liked. They've gotten a certain amount of close hanging around with the same crowd. And Winnie being Winnie she always through a few flirtatious compliments to the girl, knowing that it only helped their friendship. Winnie had respect for her and was willing to trudge through the summer if she were here. Along with Matt, who came up presenting compliments and gifts.

I absolutely adore you Matt. She looked at the bottle and her summer as an alcoholic was surging through her mind and she got excited. And Matty we both know that I can hold my liquor a lot better than you. And I know Serena has probably already stolen you as roommate! Winnie raises her volume at the last few words while glancing to Serena, giving her a wink. So I should be getting Levi! She says louder while pointing to Levi who was standing off in another group where she didn't know the majority of the people.

We better be getting together Levi or there'll be a problem.

Begin to look around, Winnie sees a girl standing off to the side and recognizes her from somewhere. She looks back at the group that was getting bigger and she began to become uncomfortable. She did not like big crowds.

Alright cutie, there are too many people here and I don't typically like that. So I'll see you later. And if I don't get Levi, I am perfectly fine bunking with you.

She smiles again and begins retreating towards the rich looking girl, but not before giving a wink to Taylor.

See ya Taylor, Serena. She pauses then gives a once over to Caleb. Nice meeting you Caleb.

Turning around, she barely dodges the attractive Caucasian boy she remembered as Greyson. Winnie's 14 year old adoptive, little sister had a crush on him which is the only reason she knew him.

Sorry dude.

She quickly dismisses before walking over to the girl.

You look lonely.

Chad could feel his heart melt when the girl gave that small smile. "Alright well then we're gonna be friends. perfect." He grinned and stopped flexing, looking around the room. He realized he would have to pick a room eventually but asking anyone to room with them would probably wind up with a big no. Except maybe Caleb. Not like Caleb could really tell him no even if he wanted to.

The jock walked to the window and gazed out at the beach, his patented grin coming back to his face. He couldn't wait to get out there with all the lovely ladies he'd seen downstairs. A couple beers and everyone would be going wild. He wanted to learn to surf too if there was anyone around that even knew how to do that. Chad's ears perked up as the girl talked about how she wasn't the most interesting girl to be around. "You don't need to thank me for being a friend. That's gonna be mission one. We're gonna have to toughen you up a little. You can't think 'Oh man I sure hope this girl likes me', y'know? You gotta be thinking 'God I am so awesome for even letting this girl get the opportunity to speak with someone as awesome as me!'" Chad looked back over to the girl to see if she was picking up what he was putting down. "Have some confidence. Some backbone."

The basketball player walked back in front of where she was sitting and looked down at her. "And besides. Nine times out of ten the quiet girls are the ones that are the craziest at parties. Uh...Not saying that you are or have to be...I'm not really good at this." He laughed at himself and ran a hand through his hair. Chad suddenly heard voices coming from the stairway and bit his lip a bit. "I'm just gonna..." He backed towards the door and closed it before turning back to the girl and holding up his hands to show he meant no harm. "Can't have people thinking I've gone soft you know? Got a reputation to keep." Chad thumped his chest proudly and then turned his attention back to the girl.

"So let's hear it little miss Chinatown...Taiwantown? No that doesn't sound right. Chinatown." The jock nodded to himself to confirm it did indeed sound better. "Tell me about yourself And none of this coy crap either. Say it like you mean it. Impress me. I want to know about you. How awesome is that feeling? Someone cares about you so much they want you to tell them about yourself. No shyness." His words sounded somewhat harsh but his face was a non threatening grin. In his mind he was just trying to help her out and wasn't really trying to put any pressure on her.

Shaye kept her gaze on Chad as he walked towards the window, peering outside and grinning-he seemed to do that a lot. "You don't need to thank me for being a friend. That's gonna be mission one. We're gonna have to toughen you up a little. You can't think 'Oh man I sure hope this girl likes me', y'know? You gotta be thinking 'God I am so awesome for even letting this girl get the opportunity to speak with someone as awesome as me!' Have some confidence. Some backbone."

The innocent girl held back a squeak, not wanting to make a fool of herself again. Her cheeks gained a slight tint of red, and she adjusted herself where she was sitting. To be quite honest, girls scared her; they're all just so... pretty. Sure, being acquaintances and friends with them was great, but she's been questioning something more lately. The idea didn't seem bad at all. It was a bit difficult to think about and consider, however, since she has no experience with love. She's had crushes before, but never acted on them. The one time she tried, he turned her down almost immediately. It was a somewhat traumatizing experience that she never wants to face again.

Chad walked away from the window, and situated himself in front of Shaye. Wow, he was really tall. "And besides, nine times out of ten the quiet girls are the ones that are the craziest at parties. Uh...Not saying that you are or have to be...I'm not really good at this."

The petite girl couldn't help but laugh along with him. He seemed nervous, and she found it to be almost endearing. The voices by the staircase seemed to make it slightly worse for him.

"I'm just gonna..." Chad went to close the door, and Shaye took a sharp intake of breath. As soon as he put his hands up in surrender, she released it. "Can't have people thinking I've gone soft you know? Got a reputation to keep."

It was strange. Had she and a boy ever been alone behind closed doors before? No. Come to think of it, she'd never been alone with a boy at all-that is, unless it was family. The sudden reminder made her feel slightly more nervous, but then she remembered that Chad most likely has never done something like this. If he was willing to change his behavior to show her some kindness, then she would gladly accept it.

"So let's hear it little miss Chinatown...Taiwantown? No that doesn't sound right. Chinatown. Tell me about yourself And none of this coy crap either. Say it like you mean it. Impress me. I want to know about you. How awesome is that feeling? Someone cares about you so much they want you to tell them about yourself. No shyness."

Shaye laughed again, covering the bottom half of her face with her hand. She could tell that he really was trying. Despite his efforts, she didn't feel comfortable sharing her story. It was nothing against him, she's always been like that. Hoping he would let her tendency to be private slide, she exhaled softly.

"Well, there's not much to me. I'm a double major, is that interesting? I study general education and dance," Shaye said softly. She was really hoping that she could avoid anything but the bare minimum when it came to talking about herself. "I really like animals, pretty fashion, and maybe going out for a drink every now and then. Before you get any funny ideas, I mean tea when I say 'drinks', not alcohol." She gave a playful smile. "What about you?"

“grey.” serena knew exactly where that voice came from. she swiftly swiveled her head to see catalina place her hand on greyson’s arm. her attention diverted to them, and she dismissed whatever winnie or anyone else had to say to her. as she listened to their conversation, her mood shifted from angry, betrayed, to disappointed. she got to the point in which she didn’t even know how she felt. sure, she was irritated at catalina, but even more furious at grey. god, you must really want it to be the end for me. actually, fuck me right now, she thought as she made her way to greyson and catalina. she wanted to stop herself, but she couldn’t.

“what. the actual. fuck. greyson? are you fucking kidding me right now?” she asked, fully pronouncing and emphasizing his name. sure, she was angry that he didn’t defend her use of “grey”, but she was more heated about his choice of “cutting loose”. “i swear, you’re actually so fucking stupid,” she said to him crossing her arms. she meant that he was stupid for a lot of things- choosing to cut loose with catalina, but mostly because he would go back to her for whatever reason, even when there’s other people who have been there for him. catalina was toxic for him, but then again, maybe he was toxic for serena.

“i can’t with you. this is who you want to cut loose with? we all know this bullshit highschool habit doesn’t fucking count,” she went on as she got closer to him. it was unbelievable that he thought spending time with catalina would be considered cutting loose. “everything’s so highschool to you. you need to stop doing things to prove yourself and your popularity, and start doing things for yourself.”

serena stopped herself. she wanted to say more, but she didn’t know what to say, and she could never hurt him. she noticed that somewhere along the lines her narrowed eyes had softened and her tone became concerned, and maybe even slightly hurt. as serena paused, she realized that she exploded with anger because she was afraid catalina would hurt him, and she wanted him to see that he deserved someone better. not wanting greyson to notice how much she cared, in an effort to hide her feelings, she forced herself to become angry again and turned to face catalina.

“and you.... wow cat, really?” she asked bluntly, emphasizing the nickname greyson often used for her. “‘grey’? instead of anything thing else you could have called him? you know, if you love telling everyone how you feel straight up to their face, then maybe you should ask ‘grey’ how he really feels about you.” unlike the usual, her use of “grey” was ridiculed, and even though she wasn't as angry with catalina, she felt the need to defend herself. she had always made it clear that it was her thing to call greyson "grey".

needing to get out of the mess, she decided she was done and swiftly turned away from the two and made her way to find matt so that she could get some air. even though she walked away, she secretly hoped greyson would see through her like usual and follow her. once finding matt in the kitchen, she grabbed his arm pulled him aside.

“i can’t believe i just did that,” she told him, sounding angry at herself. she regretted it immediately and wished she could take it back and redo it. “i need you to get me so fucking wasted. we need to get out of here, and i want to forget everything that happened,” she demanded, blinking back tears. all she wanted to do was leave, and she couldn’t believe she ever thought staying at the house was a good idea. she was so angry at herself, and all her insecurities seemed to crawl back in place.

Matt watched as Catalina stepped away from the group heading towards Greyson's direction. Instantly his sights cut to Serena, knowing full well that some Taylor Swift-esque drama was afoot and it could get ugly. Grey was a big boy though, he could handle it if something went horribly wrong. Right? As much as Matt fancied to see a catfight, he didn't want it to happen between his best friend and the supposed mother of his future children. Maybe he was overthinking, and everything was going to be okay. They're on vacation, so the time to worry about the petty drama was in the past. Shifting his attention back towards Sadie he followed behind her to the kitchen with his bottle in hand. "I'm always down for shots!"

Placing his bottle down on the table next to him, he turned the label facing towards Sadie. "So, Miss Mercedes Rivers do you think you can handle my Angry Poonani? Or are Levi and I gonna be the only ones here having an amazing time?" Matt said jokingly, nudging Levi on the side as he was excited to get this day started. That was until he witnessed Serena's moment outside with Greyson & Catalina, and he was probably safe to assume he wasn't the only one. Not even being involved, Matt could feel his nerves on edge just from watching. As Serena made her way back indoors, Matt went along when she pulled him aside. This wasn't his first time dealing with this type of situation when it came to Serena. All he could do was be there for her as a supporting friend.

"I'm not going to lie to you, that was pretty bad. But you shouldn't let that ruin your time here. I can grab my bottle, and we can chill on the beach or something. We just can't really leave because, well...Greyson drove us here." Matt explained in a firm tone, laying his hand on Serena's shoulder to comfort her. Looking over to his bottle by Sadie and Levi, he wanted to avoid the awkward and embarrassing atmosphere that was filling the room. Shimmying back, Matt gave a delicate smile to them both, grabbing his bottle of Angry Poonani. "Uh, I'll be back. Save me a shot." Returning back to his best friend, Matt handed her the bottle nonchalantly. "Here, the medicine to cure all bad times. Ready?"

Sadie wasn't really expecting shit to hit the fan so soon. Sure, most everybody knew everybody, and there was bound to be drama, but within an hour of walking in the door? Matt walked with her into the kitchen, setting his bottle on the counter and turning the label to face her. She busied herself looking for shot glasses, but didn't find any. She did, however, find three full packages of red solo cups. "These will have to work!" She grabbed one of them and turned, tossing them onto the counter.

"Do you know who you're talking to?" Sadie eyed Matt with a grin on her lips. Before she could reach for the bottle, though, Serena's voice echoed through the house-- despite the fact the girl was outside. Blinking, Sadie peered out the window, watching the spectacle outside. "Shit." It was no secret that Catalina and Serena did not like each other, and poor Greyson was stuck in the middle.

Serena wasn't over there long before she marched back into the house, appearing in the kitchen and taking Matt to the side. Sadie turned, gripping the counter on either side of her as Serena demanded that Matt get her wasted and that they get out of there. Quirking a brow in her direction, Sadie shook her head, saying nothing as Matt returned to her side, awkwardly grabbing his liquor and asking them to save him a shot before returning to Serena.

"It'll be here when you get back." She called, eyeing Serena before turning back to Levi. Ripping open the cups, she pulled two out, opening the whiskey and pouring two 'shots'. Handing one to Levi, she clinked her cup against his and then downed her shot.

Caleb eyed her carefully when she assured him she was alright, then shrugged one shoulder, turning to face the inside of the house. "Uh... I didn't see any in my room, but this place is huge. There's gotta be one with bookcases." He shrugged again, glancing down at her shorter form. They were joined by another girl (why were there so many beauties in this place?) and Caleb grinned. Maybe it was a good thing he'd come with Sadie after all. He started towards the people he knew, carting her box of books like it were a box of tissues.

"You, too." Caleb glanced at Winnie as she walked off, then glanced down at Taylor. "Guess it's just you and me. Do you wanna start upstairs, or down? I'm down." He nodded down the hallway. It was about that time Serena started her rampage, and Caleb looked behind him, grimacing. Drama. He purposefully stayed away from it as best he could, though sometimes it was hard, considering who his sister was.

He stepped aside as she came storming in, for once feeling a little sorry for Greyson. Clearing his throat as she made her way into the kitchen, he nodded towards the hallway and the stairs again. "Up to you which way he go." He muttered, his mood slightly darker now. Drama did that to him. Hopefully Sadie didn't get involved-- he really didn't wanna hurt somebody on this trip.

Chad listened happily, grinning and nodding along as she talked about herself. He could tell that she wasn't telling him everything but it was a start. She had run away from him about 10 minutes ago after all. He could work with that. A dumb jock to the end, his eyebrows did raise when the mentions of drinking came up. He was about to run downstairs and grab as many beers as he could carry. He chuckled some when she changed the drink to tea. Who the hell just goes somewhere to drink tea?

The athlete's grin only widened when she asked about him. Because of course, Chad's favorite thing to talk about was himself. "Well I'm glad you asked! I'm majoring in general education. School is just where I'm at for now. Give it two years and I'll be in the NBA. And when I'm there you're gonna come sit courtside and watch me dunk on Lebron." Chad chuckled again before starting back on his tall tales. "Other than that...I like partying. Obviously. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. I love the ladies. I have a passion for working out. Obviously." Before the muscle head had even thought about it he was lifting his shirt to show off his abs. "What you see is what you get when you're with me I guess." He let his shirt fall back down as he ran a hand through his hair. "And I most definitely do not drink tea."

When he was done talking about himself the cocky grin faded some and he turned back to Shaye. "But that was a good start. I still have a ton of questions though. Favorite animal? Mine's gotta be a tiger. You don't fuck with a tiger am I right? Also are you free to be my fashion advisor? You could hook me up before I go out on parties. My wingman, yknow?" Chad laughed. He wasn't really trying to pressure her into doing any of that, just trying to get her out of her shell. If she was anything like his sister, the more loud and obnoxious he was the less afraid she became. It's easier to cut loose when you know no matter what you won't be the biggest idiot in the room. "So studying dance, huh? Approximately how much begging am I going to have to do to get you to dance with me?" He crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head to the side, staring down at her with a playful smile on his face. "That is something I definitely have to see. I'll even buy you your favorite tea for it."

Shaye watched as Chad's grin only grew even wider when given the chance to talk about himself. It almost made her laugh. She ended up doing so when he made a remark about dunking on Lebron James.

The innocent girl almost gasped when the jock lifted his shirt, but she covered her mouth quickly before it could escape. His body was impressive, however, she quickly averted her gaze before it lingered too long. Despite him willingly lifting his shirt, she felt as though she was invading his privacy or something. It was when he said he didn't drink tea that her gaze snapped back to him. She gave a playful glare, and scrunched up her nose a bit.

It was then that the petite girl was bombarded a few questions; they were practically thrown at her left and right. She raised her hands in surrender, and laughed again. The questions weren't personal, so she could very much so answer them, right?

"I really like cats," Shaye grinned, " so I guess we're kind of on the same page with that one. I'd be happy to help with your fashion disasters! I mean, fashion escapades!" She laughed again at that one. Fashion was something she felt that she was good at; everything had to match or flow together perfectly. "I mainly just study contemporary dance, so I don't think I'd be able to dance with you in the way you want me to." She let out a sigh, then began to blush profusely. She covered her face, and started laughing. "I can't believe I'm telling you this, but I also have experience with hip-hop and pole dancing." It's not something she was embarrassed or ashamed of, but it's also something not many expect from her.

After her face had cooled down and she dropped her hands to her lap again, Shaye's stomach growled softly. She quickly went to cover it, face feeling hot again. Of course, she managed to embarrass herself again. "Sorry, I only drank tea for breakfast," she muttered quietly, "Is there even any food in this house, or do we all have to go shopping?"

Taylor

IMG_20180618_151656.png

"I'm... really not sure." Taylor responded biting her lip, unsure of exactly where she belonged among this group of strangers. Winnie's invite to room together was a pleasant gesture, as was the flattering nickname she had bestowed upon her. But it's conditional element reminded Taylor that she was still largely an outsider to this group and whilst she was rapidly feeling closer and closer to comfortable she didn't want to impose. Taylor followed a foot behind Caleb, surprised at the ease at which he carried what Taylor considered her prised collection. As they reached the kitchen Taylor saw various people jumping straight into the festivities. She was suddenly hit by a wave of guilt when she realised these were probably Caleb's friends and he was stuck holding her books like some glorified butler.
"I'll take a room down here, next to yours?" She asked uncertain, just in a hurry to unburden Caleb. He seemed like a goodhearted guy so Taylor hoped being in proximity to him would at least keep her safe. She was grateful for his aid, flattered even, perhaps even hopeful that she had been wrong all along and everyone where would be friendly and nice and there would be the perfect trip.

That illusion lasted for all about three seconds. Almost as soon as a smile arrived on Taylor's lips it was quashed as harsh voices originated outside. Taylor recognised Serena's distraught voice and looked back towards the door, tilting her head in confusion. She knew very little about Serena except the few things she chose to share with her, the intricacies of her social life weren't among those things. So when she stormed into the kitchen and over to Matt, Taylor hurried out the way, the bottles in her backpack clinking loudly as she backed into a wall. Taylor watched the two converse from a distance, she wanted to comfort Serena, ask her what was wrong and hopefully suggest a solution, but her lack of knowledge on the situation and naivety on drama in general kept her silent. Serena's arrival had a notable effect on Caleb too, his voice notably less friendly and his eyes darkening. Taylor felt her nerves rearing their head once more, she felt like little more than a spectator to the events unfolding before her yet her proximity made her feel directly involved. Perhaps she could head somewhere else, simply avoid the oncoming storm. Though in doing so she might miss out. Instead of deciding upon either option, Taylor remained off to the side once more, strangled by indecision.

"The Princess"

Catalina's heart skipped a beat as Greyson told her that she looked nice. It was such a simple, casual comment. Many people wouldn't have thought anything of it at all. In fact, she wouldn't have thought anything of it had it been from anyone else. Greyson just had a way of making her heart skip beats and giving her butterflies in her stomach. That was why they couldn't just end it. At least, that was why she could never just let him go. She had never met anyone else who made her go head over heels for them. You'd think that would keep her from being a bitch, but you can't deny what you were born with.

"Okay!" Catalina said gladly, walking over with him to her car. She was so surprised that he had agreed to a drink. She was nearly certain that he would have said no, but she wasn't complaining that he said yes. If this was how this trip was going to start off, it was going to be quite the trip to remember.

As if on cue, Serena stormed out into the yard like a bat out of hell. She had never seen anyone so upset in her life. That wasn't true, she had definitely been more upset before, but Serena was awfully pissed over her calling Greyson "Grey". That was about all she could pick out of the yelling she was doing. Honestly, seeing the girl so crazy pleased Catalina. If she was going to act crazy, that made Catalina all the more desirable. She listened to her spiel, and as Serena was walking away she called out. "What the fuck are you anyways, a blood hound?" she spat. She could think of a thousand more things to say that would tear the girl to shreds, but she was storming away like the cowardly bitch she was.

"Sorry, Grey," she said, hoping Serena heard her then since apparently she had super sonic hearing. "I wasn't expecting her to do that. I tried to keep it together, but that was really dramatic of her. Do you want me to bring you out a drink? We don't have to go back in right now," she said, trying to use the outburst to her advantage.

He hadn’t even thought about it until it was too late; rather, until Serena was storming up upon them with fire in her eyes and acid dripping from her tongue. Grey- the name that shall not be spoken. Greyson honestly hadn’t even been thinking about it, had been more concerned with the task at hand and making sure Catalina didn’t blow up on him. He was so used to people already knowing that Serena had a touch of crazy that he rarely if ever had to correct people in the first place. That didn’t matter to Serena, though, as she launched into a tirade of insults and accusations, not giving Greyson the opportunity to get a word in edgewise- not that he was dumb enough to do that, though. Women were scary.

Greyson waited until Serena had stormed back inside before he released the breath he was holding, closing his eyes just long enough to mentally count to three as he slowly exhaled, trying to blow away the tension in his body along with the breath from his lips. He wanted to yell after his friend that if she was aiming for him to ‘let loose,’ screaming at him and mocking him probably wasn’t the best way to go about it. He didn’t say that, though, because he knew the girl was right- in a way, at least. He knew exactly what they meant when they kept telling him to let loose; to forget about his parents, their expectations, the appearance that he had to uphold. Catalina, if he were being honest, was just another part of the appearance he had to keep; the golden boy with the beautiful princess on his arm. It was such a high school thing, but what his friends didn’t understand was that the end of high school didn’t end the expectations others had of him. Something that was just ‘high school’ to them, was lifelong to him. It was completely and utterly frustrating, confusing, difficult.. and he honestly didn’t even know what he wanted anymore.

Instead, Greyson forced a bright smile onto his lips as if nothing serious had even happened. “Let’s not worry about it right now.” he responded, not wanting to discuss it with her any farther. He was sharing a room with Serena anyways, so he’d talk to her once she’d calmed down a little. He grabbed Catalina’s bags from her car and nodded his head in the direction of the house. “Thanks, Cat, but we should go inside. It’s pretty hot out here, plus,” He wiggled the bags he had in his hands, “I’m sure you want these inside, yeah?” He’d yet to say hello to everyone inside, either. He especially wanted to go see what Sadie was up to.

Taking as many of Caterina’s bags in his arms as he could manage, he brought them inside of the house, dropping them off near the door for them to grab a little later. He was sure she wouldn’t mind too much since she wanted him to come drink with her, anyways. He headed to the kitchen and, lo and behold, found both the alcohol and Sadie. Ignoring the others in the room, he walked straight up to the girl and rested his head against her shoulder. “Grey is a stupid nickname,” he whispered to her, “I’m more of a royal blue.”

Sadie was like a breath of fresh air when it came to his troubles. Her no-nonsense, say it how it is attitude was something that he could appreciate when everyone else around him had a habit of just telling him what he wanted to hear. They’d tried the dating thing a while back, but had decided that they were better off as friends, siblings even and he was glad that it didn’t make things weird between them. She was the only one of his friends that seemed to understand why he didn’t ‘let loose’ all of the time. She was also close with Caterina, which was a bonus in and of itself.

Chad tried and failed spectacularly at hiding his emotions as he listened to the girl. She was a pole dancer? He nearly interrupted her out of excitement. If she hadn't changed the subject right then he would have picked her up himself and found the nearest pole. That was the next goal in mission break down The Great Wall of China. The jock's grin only widened with the prid of coming up with the new code name. Of course he would never say it out loud. Unless alcohol was involved. Chad amazingly had even less of a filter when he was drunk.

"Alright missy. You are pole dancing at least once on this trip. You can't say that and expect me not to jump all over it. Then you gotta hit me with your best twerk since you're all about the dancing." He turned his body so he was facing a wall and popped out his butt, doing his best impression of a twerk. He chuckled and shook his head. "Nah, baby steps. But you are pole dancing for me. Not getting out of that." He couldn't help it. Picturing this shy girl dancing around on a pole doing some crazy shit was getting him more hyped up than anything. "And what do you mean fashion disasters!?" He questioned, staring down at his clothes. Sure he wasn't going to any fashion shows but he didn't look that bad.

Chad hugged dramatically and his grin was soon back. "Well whatever. I didn't see any food when I grabbed a beer earlier. Of course I was only worried about beer by that point." He leaned against the door and looked down at the girl. "We could go grab some food from a restaurant. Get some more people to go with us. If you want to I mean. I know how scary those people down there are." He made a show of wiggling his fingers spookily and giving Shaye a wink. "It'd be a good chance to make some friends though. Or at least get to know the people we're going to be spending however long in this house with."

Winnie observed her surroundings as everything played out. The furrowed brow etched on Serena's face, the ever growing smirk on the girl Cat's face, Caleb's distaste, and Grey's haunted look. Winnie also took notice that Cutie seemed to retreat to one of the rooms while the rest remained quiet. A raised eyebrow was sculpted on Win's face as she kept observing. She wasn't sure if she was going to enjoy the occasional eruptions of drama this summer. But she really didn't want to spend time at home when another kid was on the way.

So as the scene unraveled and Serena unleashed the beast, Winnie kept observing. Winnie didn't know what it was about, she did not care. If it didn't involve her there was no point inserting herself into the equation. But Winnie hated the look of enjoyment on Cat's face, the girl didn't like those that enjoyed pestering people for the fun of it. AKA being a douchebag, but Winnie was only a douchebag for specific reasons. Winnie could be nice when she wanted too, but the minute you did something wrong, ties were broken or bridges were burned before they were even built.

And that's exactly what Cat did. And she did it to Serena.

Winnie let Serena pass her by in her fury while she looked back and stared at the pretty girl next to Greyson. She didn't really have an emotion oresent on her face as she stared at her, but Winnie couldn't let her have the last word.

Personally I would've used a labrador retriever, they have pretty good hearing. A smirk climbs onto the brown girl's face and she looks directly in Cat's eyes. Bloodhounds however are better at sniffing out bitches.

Winnie spits out a small laugh accompanied with the smirk and directs it towards Cat. It soon wipes off her face when she meets eye contact with Greyson. She gives him a look that says 'you're in trouble,' before turning around with crossed arms and making ber way to where Serena was debriefing Matt.

I swear to fucking God, if y'all go drinking without me I will probably burn your clothes.

Winnie takes the drink on the counter and takes a sip — more like a gulp — from it. She glances between the two and gives off a smile.

Hey and after that, I deserve to go drinking on the beach.

Her hands dig into her pocket and she brings out her keys. There was way to much tension and not enough drinks for her to deal with. And she didn't know who else she could hang out with. Since her friends seemed to only be Serena, Matt, and Levi. A genuine smile finally displays on Winnie's friends and the key dangles in her hand besides her face.

I mean, only if you're up for it.

Outside, her best friend tried to use Serena's outburst to her advantage. Sadie caught sight of Catalina and Greyson out of the window again, but she was too busy pouring another shot to really pay attention. She heard more people entering the house, and thought she heard bags being set down or something clinking against something else that she just assumed was more luggage. Sheesh, was everyone planning on camping out in the living room?

For once, she was grateful for her brother, or else that's where her bags would be too. She smirked to herself, and realized she'd poured one too many shots. It worked out, though. When Greyson rested his head on her shoulder she just rested her head on top of his. "Well, Royal Blue, I seem to have an extra shot here. Care to join me on this adventure?" She turned slightly, offering him the cup by hanging it in his face.

She could tell he was tired of having to choose, but that was one conversation she stayed out of unless he really needed her. Sadie wasn't the type to sugarcoat shit, and she'd told him a few times how she felt about the situation, which simply boiled down to: do what makes you happy. She loved Catalina and got along mostly with Serena, but Greyson was her friend, too. She wrapped one arm around him, her shot in her free hand. "Come onnnnn. It's whiskey."

Caleb glanced over at Taylor again, shrugging when she said she wasn't sure where to go. It wasn't that big of a deal, even if you roomed with someone you hated you could either just switch with someone or ignore them. No one here didn't get along with anybody, not even Chad. He smirked at the thought, looking around and realizing that his friend was nowhere in sight. Oh, lord. Where did he go now? Caleb thought, dragged back to the present as he realized Taylor had spoken.

"That's cool." There was something alluring about her, despite the fact she wasn't his usual type. He didn't think he had a type, really, but maybe he was wrong because he'd never really gone for the quiet and shy type before. Was he going for her, though? Perhaps... He studied her for a moment before Winnie's voice distracted him, and he shot her a look. Not a mean one, but not an overly friendly one, either. Women are such catty creatures. He had heard Sadie make many a catty comment before, though, so nothing surprised him anymore.

Wanting to get out of the drama, he nudged Taylor and started off down the hall. He walked past his room, nodding inside. "That's where I'm staying. You can go in here-- oh, look. A bookcase." He grinned, satisfied with himself as he stepped into the next room. "Not a huge one, but a bookshelf nonetheless." Making sure to be extra careful, he set her books down on top of it. "Are you unloading them all now?"

Shaye was silent for a moment, wondering where there would even be a pole available for use. Wherever that may be, she planned on staying as far away as possible. Pole-dancing was something she'd only practiced with a group of the same major, so she felt slightly more comfortable with them. Showing off some skills and moves she had learned in front of anyone else gave her chills, but she wouldn't admit that to Chad. Instead, she smiled at the mention of food; it faltered slightly when she remembered the others.

"That would be nice," the innocent girl started, "I do need to find a roommate, maybe a meal and some conversation could help with that." She frowned, and the nervous bubble in her stomach made a reappearance. "If we do go out with the others, you won't treat me any differently than you had been for the past ten minutes or so... right? I just- sorry, forget I said anything."

Shaye sighed softly, her head feeling hot. She always made her best attempts to not judge or hold things against anyone, but considering their first interaction, along with the way Chad seemed frightened to be seen as anything other than a douche by the others, she couldn't help but worry a bit. Guilt ate at her insides as she realized what she had asked the jock, as well as the thoughts floating around her mind. She tried to make herself appear even smaller, hoping she didn't offend or hurt him.

Taylor

17075806_1929795437252389_7144577796524736512_n.jpg

Taylor grew increasingly uncomfortable, the room's tension nigh tangible. The dirty looks and snide comments being shot back and forth bringing the room to boil. Despite herself, Taylor couldn't help but smirk at Winnie's comment. The extended metaphor calling to the English nerd within her. The whole scene unfolding before her brought along with it a conflict. Taylor hated animosity between people, she hated it when people failed to get along. She saw very little need for such bitterness and anger to drive people apart. Yet... There was something there, something between the words spoken by individuals with elements hidden within the intricacies of the words chosen and perhaps even the words they chose not to say. The back and forth, the emotion, the desires behind each person twisting their actions in favour of their motives. Taylor knew there was a simple word to describe the ineffable sensations she pondered; a word so basic and ingrained in human nature it has formed the basis of entertainment pretty much as long as people have had time to spare being entertained.

Drama

A word that Taylor always tried her hardest to avoid, conscience of its toxicity yet upon witnessing it now, helplessly fascinated. Of course dramatic events had occurred in her life before, but rarely did they hold such irresistible charm. As her thought process came to a close Taylor made a mental vow to remain a spectator. As interesting as drama unfolding was, Taylor was certain the the emotional battery that accompanied being at its centre would break her down in mere moments.

As these machinations made their way across Taylor's mind a slight nudge brought her focus swiftly back to reality. It had been the slightest of touches but Taylor jumped slightly none the less. She looked over at Caleb, a blush rising in her cheeks as she realised it was merely to grab her attention. Hoping her over reaction went unnoticed she followed him down the hallway, her fluttering mind focusing more and more back on Caleb with each step. She wondered whether Caleb had the same love/hate relationship with drama that she was beginning to develop. As entrancing as the drama was, she was uncomfortable in its presence and perhaps it had shown visibly enough for Caleb to notice and this welcome distraction was his method of relieving her of its stresses. The thought was comforting, and she couldn't help a sly smile flit across her lips. Whilst unlikely it was nice to think Caleb was looking out for her.

The two of them arrived at the neighbouring rooms and Taylor looked up at him gratefully. As they entered the room that would be hers her face lit up at the sight of the bookshelf. Whilst humble in size, especially compared to the bohemoth of a bookcase (bookcases really) she had back home, it would suit her needs perfectly. The rest of the room was beautiful, the walls painted a delicate pearl and adorned with subtle engravings of waves. A large surf board hung along the back wall completing the ocean vibes. A queen size bed sat off to the side, a dark mahogany frame accented by the pure white linen that dressed it. The hardwood floor was somewhat rough underfoot but several rugs of varying bright hues were strewn across its surface. One wall was almost entirely taken up by a slidding door which lead out into the garden, allowing streams of brilliant sunlight to filter through the thin, almost ethereal white curtains that bordered either side. Other vitals sat against the three remaining walls; a vanity table, wardrobe, several sets of drawers and a large flatscreen TV each had its home. Despite these luxuries Taylor's eyes were glued to the ceiling which was painted in various stellar blacks and greys, blended and mingled into a cosmic palette, atop of which was painted the various constellations of the night sky in an almost luminous white. Taylor's mouth fell open as she walked slowly past Caleb to the centre of the room gently twirling to take in the beauty of the stars, each meticulously hand painted. The young woman stared wide eyed at each, unable to vocalise her awe, an unnecessary endeavour as it was painted across her face as clearly as the mural itself.

30 seconds or so must have passed before Taylor's eyes left the synthetic heavens that would watch over her sleep, drifting gracefully back to Caleb. She was sure he had said something but unable for the life of her to recall what.
"I'm sorry... I love... I just... Space." She fumbled, her mind still reeling. It was then that it slowly began to settle in that this was her room, at least for the next few weeks. It was incredible, and it was hers.
"This room is perfection!" She declared, bouncing slightly with joy, far too happy to feel the sting of nervousness that had haunted her thus far. "Thank you." She gushed to Caleb, unsure of why she was thanking him but earnest non the less.

It was then that it slowly sank in that she was with Caleb alone again, though for now her joy guarded her from any nerves and fear. The two stood a couple of feet apart and the realisation caused a subtle warmth to spread through Taylor. She couldn't help but dwell on how nice Caleb had been to her in the short time she had known him and how despite his intimidating appearance, he had made her feel more at home in moments than she thought possible. This guy was definitely worth getting to know.
"I can unpack later, should we see what everyone's up to? Y'know, assuming no one's been murdered in our absence." Taylor asked, certain her joke would fall flat but any fear was immediately overridden by enthusiasm at the thought of playing a real life version of Cluedo {I think it's just called Clue to any Americans}.
