As far as plot, nothing's happened yet. The only thing that the characters really know is that some big calamity happened about 100 years ago, and the kingdom of Hyrule more or less disappeared overnight.

I'll read the wiki first. For the most part I don't need to know plot stuff, so much as the context of the story. But I assume I'll get a sense of the world after reading the link you gave me.

You could be a Goron or a Gerudo. They need racial representation. You could also be one of the 'new champions' if you don't want to create an entirely new character. Or perhaps you could be part of my character's ship.
It will also help if you created a goal for your character to achieve. Said goal should motivatie them to join Link's little fellowship.
