Futuristic Auger Sign OOC

Alright, here's some comments. Thanks for making the fixes.

1. For technomancy, does your character use their eyes, or what body part to they utilize in order to activate the Auger? Do they point their hand at something at least two meters away for it to work? Also, your Auger can work on Oracles, but it'll require an immense amount of stamina/resources, if you want that as an option.

2. Okay, thanks for clarification on the nickname. I checked the History and I couldn't find anything on it prior to your edits, which is why I made a comment on it.

3. Your history answers my question.

4. You didn't have change the laptop, but it's up to you. I only asked that question to build up on why the laptop was special.

5. Since your character underwent an experimental process by the Eranyne Empire, he'll be heavily watched. This is going to influence a lot of things for the Turn 8 post. This is just a comment and not at all a question.

6. Thank you for answering my problems with the history. Does your character know where the Oracle's stored, or no? It's most probable that the EMF would just scrap it, if it's broken.

You only need to answer my questions related to Number 1, and I'll accept your character.

Now onto the other comments.

Yeah, the role play focuses on character development, since the role players make the role play, at least that's what I believe. I can have your character grow less afraid, if you give me a scenario as a catalyst for your character. What makes him truly want to act brave? Judging by the history alone, it seems as if your character acts brave when terrorists threaten the well being of others. I can have your character witness misconceptions with the EMF, but everyone's different in the army. It's grey morality mostly. What do you want your character to see from the EMF that makes them want to join the High Tides? Your mother/father can be side characters. You don't really need to create full on profiles for them, but just give them a brief bio/personality/height/weight/image/appearance descriptions. Also, where does your character typically hang out at in Cainan City?

Overall, the only problem is the Auger, since I don't know how your character controls the ability.

As long as the technology is two meters away and my character is conscious of its presence, but being able to see it would work better, as he can see what he is doing. It requires concentration and I'm thinking that the more complex the technology the more physically exhausting it would be for Char. (ie: turning on a computer remotely would take little effort, but making an Oracle lift its arm would be like lifting the arm itself without assistance. I will update this in my CS)

As for the Oracle, it was confiscated, but strings were pulled to prevent it from being scraped. With that said, Char does know its location (roughly) and plans on reclaiming it eventually. (I'm noticing that I'm almost turning his mom into some kind of deus ex machina)

For the character development, I kind of want to see a scene like the attack on Braton, where Char notices that the commanding officer orders the kill of civilians, or a complete disregard for civilian safety, as that would go against everything he is fighting for. He would see a discrepancy in the way he thought of the EMF and realizes that they aren't so much created to protect as they were to conquer. That would lead to an epiphany of sorts, realizing that terrorists are discontent citizens, which he wants to protect and creates moral dilemma for him.

I suppose that Char would usually spend a majority of his time at his father's home, waiting to go back to Jumlie with his mom, but other than that, he frequents the music center and the poorer areas.

As for my character's mother and father, where do you want me to post their mini bios?

Okay so the Auger will be connected with your eyes. It'll only work if you can see the object within two meters. You're correct that the complexity and size would make it more difficult. I'll approve the Auger.

Okay that's fine with the Oracle. Your mother can just be overprotective and spoiling Char, so that's why she's helping him so much. You can also give a backstory as to why she's spoiling him, if you really want to remove the deus ex machina factor.

I can see this working. Your character has never been to the poorer districts of Cainan City, and when he goes there, he watches as the EMF completely disregards second class citizens, or would it only work if it was with first class?

Since your character visits the poorer areas, may I ask why? Does he have friends there, or why the poorer districts, if your family's wealthy and can afford to stay in the rich areas?

You can post their mini bios in here, or in additional information of your character sheet, or you can make new character sheets in the character thread.

Your character is accepted. Now I just need those questions to be answered, so I can set up a scene in Turn 8.

I'm explaining why he goes to the poorer areas in the mini bio of his dad, which I will post after this in the character thread.

I think that I will be less effective with the poorer people, since he usually only hangs out with the black market dealers, thieves and such, so when they're abused, it's understandable. However, with first class citizens or at least with people he sees as innocent, it will be much more effective, since they haven't done anything wrong in his eyes. My character would see most poor people as criminals, as they are his peers.

I suppose hanging out with criminals comes from a sense of rebellion and the idea that with them, he can protect more people, without restrictions.

Sorry that I didn't answer this yesterday. I was busy with Exams. I'll check out the characters.

So he hangs out with second class citizens due to a rebellious nature and the ability to protect others? Most second class would consider your character in a negative light, so unless you hide your character's identity and have a double persona it may be difficult. I'm not trying to undermine your character, but I'm trying to flesh him out more. I can see the mom allowing Char to do stuff on his own, since she loves to spoil him, but it kind of shows neglect, unless you sneak away, and your parents are too busy to deal with it.

That's just my critique on the concept. I'll offer some idea that may make more sense.

Char prefers hanging out with second class citizens under a different guise (persona). He does this in order to purchase illegal technology, which is difficult to find.

He doesn't have a good relationship with his mother's spoiling or his father, so as a rebellious youth he goes to the poorer districts for a spice of life. He still has a different persona/disguise.

He himself enjoys the thrill of protecting the people against criminal activity. He still has a different persona/disguise.

He never liked the move to Cainan City, so he decided to go out on his own. He still has a different persona/disguise.

These are suggestions. You don't have to follow them, but can you explain why his parents allow him to hang out in poorer districts, and if he uses a different persona/disguise? There's not that many police in the poorer areas to protect him, if the second class decide to attack him for being first class.

Your NPC characters are fine. Just add them into your post, whenever necessary.

I'll clarify on the rebellion part. It's more so a rebellion against the upper class of society and the amount of plenty they have, while he knows that the some of the poorer people have to resort to criminal acts just to get by every day. To answer how he is able to associate with the lower class, his father was part of the lower class, and so, Char knows how to dress like the poor. I believe there is a physical separation between the poor and the rich, so Char's associates would never know that he is from the upper class.

Okay that answers all of my questions except for one. How do your parents not realize him missing? Does he have an alibi? Like does he lie to this parents that he's hanging out with friends in the rich area?

I think it's quite simple, his parents are constantly at working (his mom is a very high official's aide and his father is a private musician, so he's either doing gigs or practicing with other musicians), so they only see him after their long work hours at Jumlie.
At Cainan, Char's father is at work and his mom is working at his father's home in Cainan temporarily, and Char is allowed to wander the rich part of the city, where it is very safe (for now) and where he can't leave without a permit (he found hidden routes created by drug runners)

Alright, that makes sense. I guess last question. If the mother was so worried and fretted over Char's paralyzed spine, why does she not act extremely overprotective? Especially after bailing Char out from his attack against terrorists?

That would be his father, who is much more easy going. Char's father has made mistakes (haven't we all) and learned from them and doesn't want Char to live life overprotected and unable to gain knowledge just by living. Growing up as a second-class citizen, Char's father has suffered, but it made him learn how people really act and learn truths that would be otherwise be left unsaid. Don't get me wrong, Char was punished seriously for his reckless actions, but it did serve to show Char the consequences of his said actions, as his father saw it.

(Man, there is a lot of back and forth, but I don't really mind)

Everything seems alright now. Thanks for the clarification. I'll introduce your character for Turn 8. Anything you want to start out with in order to get connected with the EMF or High Tides? An example would be following a drug dealer to the High Tides, or meeting up with a detective who's trying to crack a case related to terrorism and drugs, or what ideas do you have in mind?

Yeah that's the OOC for you, always asking them questions and answering them questions. That's probably why we have so many pages even though there's only two active members besides myself.

I think my character should be introduced to the High Tides by a couple of his associates that are discontent with how the government treats them and want to join some terrorist organization to get back at the Empire. It depends on whether or not the High Tides would be interested in recruiting.

If not, then here are some more possible situations, but most of them are set up for later encounters, except for the second one, though I do want the last one to be played out. (Up to where you want this RP to go though):

-During a battle Char sees the EMF's complete disregard for civilian casualties and begins to attack the EMF to defend the civilians. At that point, some one at High Tide would notice a single kid piloting a Model 2 Oracle against the Empire by himself and try to recruit him.

-High Tides take him hostage/collect him in the same way as they did in Braton. Maybe one of their agents gets trapped by EMF forces and they have extract them and High Tide discovers that Char has received the Gift of Data and collect him.

-The EMF repairs Char's Oracle and mobilizes it to Cainan for the Recon-Variant to be tested against High Tide. When Char learns this he tries to reclaim it, but High Tide also wants it? (Idk if anyone in High Tide would want to steal a Model 2 Oracle, it would be useful, but would they spend the effort. No need to answer unless it can be applicable)

-The EMF decides to experiment with Char's Auger after capturing him during an attempt to reclaim his Oracle and seeing it in action. Maybe they try to create a Human-Oracle link like how I originally thought of, by using Char's implemented nodes. The idea that the EMF would experiment on a first-class citizen to kill people would ruin his perception of the "Good Empire" he has.

1. The High Tides are known, but I can have one of your associates know about them being in the city through the drug dealers. They'll likely recruit you, if you don't seem suspicious and your disdain for the Legant Empire is true. They haven't recruited Vivian yet, but I'll have a process in mind. Essentially, Vivian and Mrs. Yanneth, the two other characters with the High Tides are like hostages.

2. For the first situation, the EMF will not kill first class citizens, unless the situation calls for it. They'll likely kill second class citizens, since everyone's in the poor regions.

3. For the second situation, that's one way to be recruited, but that depends if you want your Auger to be known or not.

4. For the third situation, I doubt the EMF will repair Char's Oracle, since it's not worth it. There's plenty of Oracles available. If you really want this situation, I can find a way for it to work, but it's the least likely situation.

5. For the fourth situation, I can allow the node linking, but it'll have to happen later on, when the technology or scenario is available. The only way for you to start with node linking would be if your character was an experiment for the EMF the whole time.

Out of the four situations, I'm thinking 1, 2, and 3 as in the numbers listed above, are the best ones for your character to start in Turn 8. I will definitely have the fourth situation happen (I'm estimating this will happen Turn 12~18, depending how the role play continues. It can also happen earlier, if the situation allows it to happen.), but not during the start of your character's introduction, unless you change your character history to reflect that he's been an experiment the whole time and that he's under the care of the EMF.

Alright, I think the second situation (3) can work the best. Char could be trying to escape the crossfire and accidentally reveal his Auger by doing something like bypass a security checkpoint's ID or shut down an Oracle. He would then fall unconscious from the effort and High Tides extracts him as well as their agent

Okay, that situation will occur later on in another Turn post, but in my Turn 8 post, I'll set it up so the High Tides go near your character or vice versa for the second situation to occur. Do you mind if I have your character set up in the poor district during Turn 8 (I'm thinking Convenience Store, Subway, or what specific area do you think fits your character best?) ? Usually I introduce characters to the location in my Turns, before role players post about them.

I think some kind of restaurant owned by one of his friend's family would work. Let's call it "Keep Calm and Curry On" (Guess what they serve?). It should be a popular place, which would make it ideal for showing how the EMF disregards second-class citizens during a firefight between Hide Tides and the EMF, who are fight over some agent.
It could be where the agent first meets Char and they just talk as strangers. Then in another turn, the firefight occurs.

That works as a fine place. Now I just need to come up with a combative reason for the EMF. Thanks for answering all my questions. Once Bari Bari Kloudy Kloudy post, I'll get up Turn 8. They have until Monday or Tuesday to post, or notify me if they can't post, I forgot when I posted for Turn 7.

There's no rush, but I want to start Turn 8, so I can get QizPizza QizPizza to post, or I might, if I have time do Turn 7.5, which focuses on getting your character up to speed. It just depends how Bari and Kloud are doing.

It just depends on how Bari is doing.
I'm doing fine enough. I just started university this week, so I've been busy making sure I have my books and online homework set up, as well as acclimating to my classes. I'm shooting for Saturday, but if inspiration strikes when I have time and my computer, I'll make my post tomorrow.

Nice! What major are you aiming for? And I look forward to your post.

I just got my exam results yesterday, and not only did I pass, I did really fucking well. ^U^
(Basically means I'm guaranteed to go to A-level/college)

I'll post now once I've gotten a couple of things done. : D

Nice. Hopefully, you get into your choice college!

Gosh, today really got away from me. I did shopping for my birthday and spent most of the day building a bookshelf and a dresser for my bedroom. I'll try to make my post first thing in the morning when I feel awake enough.
