There isn't much on staves, but you can search up baton techniques. Additionally, some of the sites I linked also contained a fair bit of pointers regarding guards and stances.

It's the bitter truth. You either wear hoses or armour — as the illustrations seem to indicate. I can now only imagine Nolan with a floppy jerkin, super-tight hoses that outline his gangly legs and sloppy physique, and a toothy, stupid grin. Lazy eyes too, might I add.
