Dude holy shit awful news today, I'm incredibly pissed off with our GM irl for the Islanders.

Wait….. what?!?! Wtf?! Why would you fire Trotz? That’s gotta be one of the dumbest moves Lou could make here imo. I don’t see or know of any locker room issues or something like that which could sway a firing. really stupid to fire him now after one rough season that led to no playoffs. The overall four seasons with the Isles should have let him get more time.

Dude I seriously do not know what's going on. Totally blindsided the whole fan base with this awful decision. I'm sick to my stomach just thinking about this I can't believe this is real bro. Like seriously, such a bad move, I'm still struggling to process this.... Trotz was great, he turned our franchise around and we started making the playoffs three years in a row and the semis twice in a row with him. This failure of this season was due to no fault of his own, COVID and injuries destroyed us.
Awful awful move by our GM Lou Lamoriello.... so disappointed....

Agreed. I don’t see a better option as coach for the Isles right now then Trotz. Also just left him available for other openings right now. A double L for the gm Lou. The Red Wings or Blackhawks or maybe the Jets I’m sure would jump at the chance to hire Barry now. Flyers are too big of a rebuild to see him take that job. (Plus whoever else might have a job opening this off-season)

Think Trotz longtime right hand man in Lambert is next in line for the Isles job? Early to speculate maybe but I’ve heard he’s been a quality candidate for other HC jobs.

Yeah makes sense to prefer Trotz. Just a name I remember hearing about recently with other openings. Bad move by the gm.

Makes you wonder what else Lou will do with this team. Understandable the hate of this firing and at a time like this with a successful, meaningful run that was impactful from the start of it. Lou has a history of this doesn’t he? Firing coaches quite a bit or seems like it.

Blackhawks might be the most deadly combo with Trotz with the stars already there and could get a big boost with that teams direction. Least in the short term. But yeah agreed there.

Yeah agreed. Rough start to the off-season already for the Isles fans and team. Out of the potential firings I’d of thought about as still possible to happen this off-season, Trotz was not on the list. Lou is losing it with a call like this one.

Yea this is just unfortunate. I hope Lou still keeps the core group of players and doesn't destroy and gut our roster up too much. We don't need change we just needed a new season. Even Lou himself said he believed in this group and it was why he didn't make any big moves at the trade deadline this year.

Hopefully he does the roster overall looks fine from afar and on paper. Just a fresh start of a new season was the main thing. But yeah, hopefully he keeps the core group together. No need to destroy it and restart everything in NY.

Yeah definitely seemed like a local legend there. Don’t know how far Lou will take this team this off-season but hopefully it’s not too much worse if any. But yeah, definitely sucks right now for the Isles.
BAP update: After a facepalm move last night during a exhausted and frustrated moment late into the night playing on the goalie BAP file, I’m turning auto save back on lmao. I cost myself last night can’t blame a glitch issue this time. Haha. Long story short I still had the Winnipeg ice backup file to get back through the draft after some brief play but yea, exhausted and frustration was a bad combo forgot to save like I thought I did and left me with an older file for the goalie.
But still got the Flames winger and goalie BAPS to play on. Just a mishap of mine that led to having to replay the Winnipeg journey and draft process smh.

Yeah I turned it off to see if that might play a role in file issues I’ve experienced. Turns out it probably wasn’t auto save being on that caused it since the Habs goalie still got lost so wasn’t any need to keep it off like I have been
Thanks though. It was all me on that one last night, no auto save and that combo after another bad night in goal was a nasty outcome that was my own bad there.
Yeah true haha, can’t lose that one way too much time invested and liking where it’s at too much to lose now. I’ll start fresh with a defenseman build at some point, try a more realistic playthrough now that we have the experiment knowledge haha to avoid the top two pick. decided to let Zaba go after getting the cup with the Kraken and will redo that position later with the new found draft knowledge and realism potential there, model the new one after a nhl guy like the others made.
Yeah I played through long enough to get drafted again. But my state late last night cost me with a dumb move on my own mistake, thought I hit save & exit but didn’t as I hit only exit leaving the Winnipeg ice save file and not a updated Ducks file with the progress. But yeah, that one was all me, lesson learned and auto save is going back on.

Oh that'd be a cool little experiment testing out a defensemen build. Fair enough on letting Zaba go haha. I like the idea of the draft realism and going the not getting picked 1st or 2nd overall for a more realistic NHL experience.

Yeah agreed that was a big slap to Trotz. I was actually surprised the owner’s let this happen. 1 season riddled with problems beyond the coaches or anyone’s control leading to a non playoffs year and he’s gone despite the previous three years of success and Turing the club around. 1 year left on the contract should have atleast given him 1 more chance to finish out his deal before moving on or something man. Definitely didn’t deserve that firing.
Yeah it should be a fun little experiment there. Should be easier to avoid goals and such too haha makes the experiment slightly easier I’d imagine. I’ll try a new archtype and find a NHL defenseman to model him after. I agree, i prefer the realism as well with the draft and not being a top two pick every time no matter your play (barring the experiment methods countering it) definitely more realistic nhl experience I agree. Also fun seeing where you land and unpredictability of it all too.
Yeah lol I did for sure. I faired slightly better this time around and the debut I played recently for the new nhl team was my best outing so far (doubtful I’ll keep that up though haha without a lot more bad outings. My team supported me on defense quite a bit)

Yea dude, especially after all he has done for us. Under Trotz, the Isles managed to replace what was lost somehow and not get too screwed over by John Tavares leaving and intentionally screwing us, we started making the playoffs again, we SWEPT THE PENS IN 2019, THEN WENT ON TO GO TO THE SEMIS TWO YEARS IN A ROW! This franchise hasn't seen that sort of success in a LOOOOONG time. Unbelievably pissed rn. Plus yea, he did have one year left on his contact. Very undeserved firing....

As for me, it's been up and down with my goalie grind today haha. I don't even think this team is making the playoffs this year. I've also been simming a lot of this season because I just want my three years in Anaheim to end and for me to go somewhere else. I hate playing here, the defense sucks bad.
Also lol, funny to see Rask on the Sharks. Solid goalie tho (since in that universe he wasn't plagued by surgeries and injuries and is probably still good).

That’s tough but understandable haha. Those young Ducks are a rough team to start on with a goalie. The defense is rough there, I get it pretty understandable and fair to want to finish the three years quick and get a fresh start elsewhere. Too bad on the possibility of no playoffs for that team but will be interesting to see who comes calling for your guy once the contract is up.
