Fight or Flight: Survival [Fight or Flight]

Aleks Vitaly

Sewers

Hearing the bolt more than anything, Aleks knew he made a mistake muttered a curse under his breath in resignation as all he could do was hope that his aim was so bad that the bolt would hit something like the walls that surrounded them but his wishes did not come true as it struck the figure right in the chest. Before he could even open his mouth to yell an apology, he was rewarded with even more yelling and a large blast of fire. Willing his body as fast as he could, he could feel the front of the fire lick at his clothing when his body turned to neon and broke into four spheres, each sphere flying diagonally upwards as if they were the vertexes of a rectangle. The fire passed through the center and immediately the spheres clumped back together, Aleks's arms held upwards in a non-threatening way, eyes wild, and panting quickly, sucking in as much oxygen as possible.

"Yo lets calm down!" he looked to the girl who shrieked, "hey could you...you know...do something...please?"

Though he tried his best to appear non-threatening, heated lines of neon were circling around his body, every so often a line would surge forward only to retreat back to his body, their surges resembling snakes snapping at someone's hand that happened to get too close.

Eric let out a rattling growl when he saw his attack miss. This one would be hard to hit... He was about to attack again when Penny's startled shriek registered, and he glanced over his shoulder at the poor girl. He sighed and let his wings relax a little, though they were trembling slightly from adrenaline.

"C'mere. Now." he said sharply, pointing a long claw at the ground in front of his feet.

He was livid, but he held off on his next attack until he could get a better look at his opponent. The guy seemed to want to be civil, were it not for the 80's light show going on around him.

"No sudden moves, or you're ash. Mind explaining to me why the fuck you're down here, and why your first reaction is to attack?"

"C'mere. Now."

Aleks let his arms fall to his sides, the bright snakes dimming as if they were relaxing and he took deliberately small steps in case of another attack. As he got closer he could make out some of the thing's features, the wings and scales doing well to catch his attention and he looked over the two in subtle awe. He had heard of these...people? But he'd never seen one in person before, the surprise caused Aleks to become a little more guarded. Hearing the man ask him what he was doing, the tone of his voice stirred some kind of feeling of annoyance, but he went along with it anyways.

"I'm here because I got attacked...by some uh...cops...this was my only salvation." Aleks spread his arms wide, indicating the sewers, and lowered them. "And i attacked because...well...look at you! I mean....um...". Fearing another attack he braced himself again but asked.

"So...I could also ask you too...why're you down here...aside from the obvious things you got going on..."

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny tentatively looked up as the creature call for her, its voice sharp and commanding. Standing up, her feet solidified with how her control was super tight right now, a byproduct of being yelled at by a very intimidating figure, that wasn't helped by the flames it continuously poured from its mouth. Walking over, Penny got behind the creature, careful not to get too close as she knew from earlier that the creature didn't like it when she got near it. Keeping it so that its muscled body was between her and the bright offender, Penny looked the shoulder of her pseudo-defender, and looked out as it called out, seemingly calmed down and asking for a more peaceful resolution. She was tempted to eat the human, but she didn't want to risk making the fire breathing beast mad at her.

The offender walked closer, the dimness lessening as he neared them. He looked a lot like a human, except for that bright glow up stuff. She was sure that if all humans could do that then those human from earlier would have been a whole lot harder than it actually had. So that means that this wasn't a human either...regardless it could still be food. Ignoring the questions of the possible food, Penny walked to the side of the beast, and pointed to the side at the light thrower, while asking,
"Iis Tthat FfoodD?" That anger was explosive, and she needed to tread carefully if she wanted to get her meal, while also managing to not release that rage on to her own person.

Charles Icaros

Inside the Burning Building

Charles observed as everyone began to enter the sewers through the man hole cover as he followed the group. "The sewers, huh? Well, it's a better place than here," Charles said to himself, so he started heading towards the man hole, waiting for the next person to enter the sewer.

After that person entered, he hopped onto the ladder, quickly sliding down the sides, expelling the crystalized blood on his hand as he reached the bottom. "More hiding. This won't end."

Eric narrowed his eyes dangerously as Aleks spoke. "Of course. You attacked because you saw one of the fabled sewer monsters. Dickweed." he huffed, smoke puffing from his nostrils.

"Why are we down here? You said you got chased by cops for being a freak, yeah? Maybe it didn't occur to you that neither she nor I have the fuckin' luxury to walk around upstairs. You give little lightshows that would make a raver cream themselves, I've got fuckin' wings and fangs. She's a pile of acidic goo. Do the fuckin' math."

He glanced over at Penny for a moment when she spoke, laughing darkly.

"Food? Possibly. If he keeps being a slack-jawed fucktard, I certainly wouldn't mind a snack. I'll give you the lower half."

Eris Dimitris ~ Ariana Pierce

Sewers

Eris sighed softly looking ahead watching as the poor girl heaved into the sewer not really surprised. A few months ago she was in the same boat but traveling along the underbelly of the city she became a immune to most sights and smells that would otherwise churn ones stomach. "We're almost out of here. Chances are the military were scouting out several blocks out. We should come up on the edge between the Commercial District and the Highrise areas." She informed noting how irritable and distant some people were. It was clear this wasn't some close nit group or possibly even acquaintances. "From there you can all go your separate ways Or stick with us."

"And just who are you guys?" Ari spoke up tone still thick with annoyance.

"Haven't you heard the rumors? A rebel group moving through the shadows to help save other Metas?" Eris smirked. "We're not so much Rabes as we are just a network of Metas, helping each other out to survive. The place were going to know is actually one of the hide outs." She explained turning a corner to see their contact in waiting. She waved over before spotting someone else with him, another new person?

Bentley Royale

His Apartment

Bentley smiled at the girl he had just met, and then glanced over to see the person he was waiting for, as well as a lot of other people. He groaned, unsure what to do. He knew the people coming were metas, but he didn't know about the person directly in front of him, and he didn't want to knock her out, so he gestured towards the other end of the alley, where the entrance to the building was. He placed a hand on the small of the girl's back and started leading her away from the other group, "Here, why don't we go inside." He glanced back over his shoulder and mouthed to Eris "Upstairs, Bedroom, Silent." He then turned back around and took his hand from the small of his new problem's back, smiling at her.

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny tilted her head as she listened to the words flowing from the creatures mouth, none of them seemed nice, but they were kind of interesting. All new things were interesting, like new prospects of food. The creature said he would share the food. She had never shared before, so that was interesting. Would he tear it in two then give her, her portion, or would her let her smother the lower half of the food's body, dissolve it and let him eat the rest. Another thing she had noticed was this mention of an "outside". She had never heard of this outside, but maybe that is where all the humans came from. Maybe the Hole God ruled over this "Outside"! Momentarily forgetting about the food, but making sure to keep a close eye out in case it ran without permission, Penny asked, "WwhatT Iis OoutsidEe?"

If it was filled with delicious humans like the three from before, than it sounded like a great place. She would be able to eat so much food, and meet so many Noahs! Unknowing to her, Penny's whole body was turning a lighter tint of green, becoming slightly more transparent, not that it was all that visible in the dimness of the cave.

Mai Hyuuga

Mai was started to feel a little uneasy she wasn't sure why though. He put his hand to the small of her back leading her to the other end where the entrance was. They headed inside. But just before they did she saw her pet dove Faith flying around. "Faith! Come here girl!" The dove flew to her landing on her shoulder. Then forgetting someone was looking at her she started talking to faith.

Aleks glanced over at the girl for her food comment with a curious look and looked back to the monster to receive a bombardment of insults to which that annoyance quickly turned to a quiet hate, but proceeded to not let it register on his face. Instead he huffed and looked over at the wall to his right, trying not to let the eating comment bother him too much.

Standing there in silence he considered just moving along but to where? Forward? He had no earthly idea on where he was going and there was no way he was risking retracing his steps.

WwhatT Iis OoutsidEe?"

Curious once again, he turned his gaze to the girl and at the distance he could barely pick out the faintest details. Looking her up and down, all he could really see was...a tiny bit of green. In this darkness he doubted it and threw the thought away. He scratched the back of his head.

"Well...people...like me I guess." Aleks recalled the whole eating conversation and quickly added, "um...people that don't take too kindly to being eaten..."

Charles listened carefully to what the man said. He looked trustworthy enough, but he didn't trust the new hideout area. "Is that place safe enough that we won't get attacked?" he asked the rebel that helped the group escape the police force.

Noah Chengxao

Volonil Sewers

Noah heard the group begin moving away and followed behind. They had encountered another sewer dweller with a rather nasty attitude. Nevertheless, he let them pass despite his threats and the group moved on. Before Noah could follow, he heard the sewer dweller meta talk to somebody. Pressing himself against the sewer wall, Noah heard something familiar. Squelching, something slimy....Creepy? There was so,e short conversation and apparently another meta was in the sewers that had agitated the grumpy meta. Noah saw some flashes of light and fire and indeed saw Creepy, a scaly reptilian like meta, and another person who was neon bright. Presumably meta. Noah slowly walked out to the trio of meta humans. Noah walked in a bagua stance as a precaution since the scaly demon like meta was particularly fiery.

"Hello," Noah called out as he stepped in. He lost track of the other group of metas so he though it would be a good attempt as any to ask the scaly meta for directions. "I was following the group of people that walked through and I am wondering if you can point me in the direction they went." Noah said before looking at Creepy. Did she know the meta next to her? She obviously was making to attempt to eat him. "Hey Creepy." Noah said with a polite smile. He was not sure if Creepy could see it though in the dimness.

Eric frowned a bit, hearing her comment on 'Outside'. If she was one of the metas, then she surely should know what outside was...

"Yeah... You know, cars, people... Food. That sort of thing. The kind of place where you and I would get killed on sight if we so much as popped a hand out?" He turned his attention to the walking lightshow, chuckling a bit.

"Down here, we don't really get much of a choice of food. We take what we can get." he said, glancing down as a rat ran past his feet. His tail shot out and speared it, bringing it up to his hands.

"So, if our less than delicate manner offends your sensibilities, then please accept my deepest apologies." he growled sarcastically, offering a mocking bow before ripping the rat in half and tossing the lower half to Penny. He bit the rat's head off in one bite, glancing over as another joined the conversation.

"Hey!" he mumbled past the crunching of bone and brain matter.

"Don't call her creepy, asshole. You want information, you better be fucking polite."

Madison Waller

In the sewers

Madison nearly squealed with excitement when the man said he was with the Rebels. This was exactly what she'd been looking for. She'd wanted to get out there, help the other Metas, but she hadn't really known how. For the past few weeks, she'd been mostly concerned with her own survival, but recently... She wanted to help them as best as she could. "So, we're going to the rebel base?!" Madison asked excitedly. "What's it like? Is it hi-tech, or is it like one of those cool but dingy type underground resistance looking bases like in movies? Ooh are there computers? Are there, like, badass hackers there who will hack into the government or something?" She was trying hard to conceal her eagerness, but failing miserably.

Volonil City Sewers

Penny gratefully caught the half rat and let it soak through her skin, the little morsel of food quickly dissolving in pure nutrients, as she went over the things the two told her. This Outside sounded confusing, but if what lightman said was true, than it was filled to the brim with Humans, which meant food! She salivated as the rat awoke some of the hunger in her gut, the thoughts not helping her self-control. Looking around, Penny's eyes lit up as she heard Noah's voice. She was about to say something, when she remembered how he had left her, and she didn't see any sorry gift, he didn't even bring another human for her to eat. There were tons of them, and he just showed up empty handed, with no suitable excuses.

She turned away, her face down as she tried to look anywhere, but Noah. Were all Noahs like this? She didn't know if she would like the Outside if it was filled with Noahs. They would all be nice, and then abandon her with no excuse, not even bringing a morsel for her to eat. However, Penny did glance back as the creature beside her seemed to get mad at Noah for saying her name. Was there something wrong with her name? Now that she thought about it, was it even her real name?

Kuro glanced over Ari's shoulder, seeing even more unknown people. He turned back to his eye. "Who are they?" he asked. "I don't know that sort of information." it said, shaking. He narrowed his eyes, suspicious. He flung himself to the wall of the sewer, staying in the shadows. His presence disappeared from the group.

Sewers of Volonvil - Whimsical place where you can meet all sorts of people

Noah held back a grimace as the reptilian meta ripped apart and ate a rat. When Creepy looked away from Noah, he wondered why and felt dejected. Then, the scarier of the metas Noah have seen snapped at him about him calling the slime meta Creepy.

"I'm sorry, but uh....I had met the slime one earlier and she told me her name was Creepy. I don't know her actual name, but it is the one that she responds to...I have tried thinking of a better name to suit her but I have come up short. " Noah said as he glanced at Creepy...or whatever her name was. Why did she not look at him? Is it because he had to leave?

"Erm...if I may ask, what are your names?" Noah asked the other two metas. "I'm Noah."

@Alex Phalin @TranscendedEllen @DamagedGlasses (won't be able to reply for like...four hours maybe.)

Aleks ignored the urge to punch the sewer dweller in the mug as a new figure emerged seemingly already known by the other two though it also seemed like he wasn't in their good graces. He had no problem believing he wasn't on the favorable side of the male beast but was surprised to see the treatment he got from the so-called, "Creepy", after all she didn't seem like the type to take insults or anything to heart...then again he didn't even know her.

He avoided gazing at the torn rat and to the newcomer. He definitely sounded better than the scaly beast beside him.

"Aleks." Was all he said.

Eric started sucking the blood and organs out of his snack with a disgusting slurping noise, staring at the two with narrowed eyes.

"I doubt she'd call herself 'Creepy'. If you can't tell, the mutation fucked her vocal chords, and more than likely her memory. Why not call the poor girl something that's not offensive until she remembers her name? She can't even fucking look at you."

He cut open the rat's belly with his claw, picking out bits of meat.

"Eric." he said with a light scoff of a laugh. "Now if you don't mind, fuck off. Unless you want me to see this rat as an appetizer and you two nutsacks as the main course. Head down this tunnel and keep left all the way down. If you hurry, you'll catch up with everyone else.

Mitchel & Sssam

Someone's apartment

Mitchel followed the group into someone's apartment complex. It certainly wasn't the safest place, though it didn't matter to him. He just kept following the group sticking close by while he continued sketching, the page had been covered with unfinished concepts or sketches that had a huge X mark over them to indicate it was not a good design for materialization. All the while Sssam was cursing under his breath about the Calvin and Hobbes thing that someone had called him earlier. "I am not from a comic about a delusional boy! I am the only cartoon that can exist as an independent being! How dare he associate me with that cartoon?" Mitchel listened to him rant as none of it actually phased him. For a brief moment Mitchel pulled his face out of his sketch pad to look around. "Wow, there really are a ton of people here aren't there?"

"Ace"

Apartments

Ace looked around the room staying quiet listening to the people around them one of them question what the 'rebel base' would look like. "We are in a state of quarantine with resources running out by the day. I apologize but the 'base' is not as glorious are you might think, though it is up to the others if anyone here is trustworthy." Ace looked around the current apartment, it was merely a hideout but it was safe enough. Their 'real' base of operations had been the 14th level of the looted, and now closed, casino that Ace previously worked at. The mass of people that were crammed into the small apartment was an impressive feat though. Turning to the meta who was probably not stabilized Ace spoke up to the group. "I think this one might need medical attention soon, he is bleeding, a lot. Right on my playing card and I would prefer not to watch yet another meta pass away."

En route to Rebel Base (Unknowingly)

Noah tried his best to keep a neutral face, but a slight scowl appeared on his face as Eric spat his words. The meta was as dank and foul as the sewers he resided in. Noah looked at Creepy with regret, perhaps he could have treated her better. It was a mistake to leave her alone in the sewers. Let alone with the stingy Eric.

"Thank you..." Noah said with a little bow to Eric. Biting the inside of his cheek to with hold emotions, Noah turned away and walked past Aleks. "I'll be heading up to try and catch up with the rest of the group. If you are coming, then I hope to see you soon." Noah began to run down the sewer tunnels and used a bit of his aerokinesis powers to give him a little speed boost. He stopped at an open manhole where he assumed the other metas climbed out of. Noah climbed out in the fresh open air. Noah took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the sudden change in light before looking for possible signs of where they might have gone. He noticed some blood on the ground. Perhaps one of the metas got injured in the attack.

Noah followed the few patters of blood to an apartment complex where he saw the people from earlier just entering. Noah ran towards them shouting "Hey! Wait up!" He wondered what was this place? He had suspicions but they were based on rumors.

Eris Dimitris

Rabel Hideout ~ Highrise District

Eris saw Bentleywas leading off the other girl and just gave a thumbs up hoping things were okay. She didn’t look like part of the military or much of a thread but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t mean trouble. The redhead turned back to the group taking not of their appearance now that they were in the light of day. Most of them looked really young, not much of surprise, they at least looked more or less healthy which was even better. This usually meant they had a place to stay and get food regularly, less to worry about even if they didn’t join the group. She took noticed of the excitable hyperactive girl and couldn’t help a small smile. It was nice to see such energy when most people were angry, tired or scared. Sometime’s all three.

“I’ll answer everything once we get inside. It is safe I can assure that. The building has mostly meta’s living in it not all of them are part of the network but we should be fine here.” She said leading the way up the fire escape to one of the top floor apartments. She has Ace go in first with the injured boy before letting everyone else in. She notice a straggler lagging behind, vaguely remembering him as being one of the kids in the alley. She motioned for the kid to be silent and not draw attention. Last thing they needed was a loudmouth alerting everyone to what they were doing.

Ariana Pierce

Ari looked around very tempted to just bolt away from the group but was also interested as to what this net work was. The Miss Motor-mouth however was getting on her nerves though. “Just going to stick around long enough to know what the fuck is going on then get the hell out of here. Sticking around a group this long is can’t be good.” She thought to herself following the group up to the apartment.

The apartment it’s self was simple but spacious, one large living room area with two pull out beds and a coffee table with various first aid materials already laid out on the table. A few other chairs were arranged around a small breakfast table that had been cleared. Off to the side was a small kitchen. Two more doors laid near the kitchen one to the a bedroom and one to a bathroom.

Ezekiel Strauss -Rebel Hideout

Zeek looked around the room, This is one of their hideouts? For a hideout this didn't really scream safe-house, more like a room squatters had moved in on. Still he wasn't planning on complaining, one, he hadn't been killed by excessive police brutality. Two, there was a chance that by getting with the people, he could get closer to finding June. If there was ANY chance of finding her. He had to seize that opportunity. He leaned back against one of the walls waiting for more information. From there plans could be made.

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewers

Penny felt a bit of regret as Noah left, his figure quickly becoming less and less visible as the
shadows wrapped him up in their embrace. Looking at the creature who seemed to be trying to protect her, or at least care for her as Noah had, before looking at the lightman. Remembering her earlier conversation with Noah while she had been following him down the tunnels, Penny gurgled as she strengthened her mouth snake, "YyouRr NnamEe?" She directed the question to both present, her eyes split as one looked at the creature, and the other looked at the one who could make light.

Penny had no idea that what she was doing was abnormal, her mind possessing a special naivety and ignorance only seen in people experiencing extreme amnesia. Regardless, Penny hoped that with names she could figure out what these things were. The big green creature was fascinating, the other less so, but they both were targets of her curiousity. Waiting for an answer, Penny looked down and gurgled as she realized that the slime making up her skin was dripping once more, probably because of her lack of concentration in the presence of Noah. With a small grunt of effort, Penny stunted the dripping with a firm burst of control.
