Sun shined upon an otherwise uneventful morning, for most people at least. People made their way back and forth along the street destination in mind alongside their personal problems. Ari wondered how many of them shared her worried or fears as she strolled along the masses, her headphone in her ears drowning out the city noise with the sounds of guitar riffs and drum solos. She kept her hands tucked into her dark gray hoodie a white plastic back hanging from the crook of her elbow holding the contents of her mornings journey out to the grocery store. Honestly if it were up to her she would be home sleeping but her parents had been extra noisy when getting ready for work today. She only managed another half hour of being lazy in bed before her stomach demanded food. Unfortunately none was in the fridge hence her need to actually leave her safe home.

The streets were crowded and there as a sharp
tension in the air. Even though the infection had been proven to be water born and there hadn't been any new cases ins a few weeks some people still wandered around with medical masks on. As if breathing the very air with out one would be the death of them. People were polite to the point of indifference it was almost depressing. Sure the residents in the city were never some kind of close nit family but there was some sense of community at least among small sections. Now everyone was paranoid suspecting each other of being a Meta.

A paranoid chill ran up her spine and her amber eyes scanned around the crowd spotting a small troop of three military dogs sniffing around some allies. She narrowed her eyes slightly sticking to her side of the street as she kept a casual pace. Her eyes glanced every so often spying on them with a side ways glance. She could feel the tingling of static jumping between her figures in response to her anxious state. She clenched her fists tightly to avoid doing something stupid and kept moving. As much as she would like to roast the hounds she knew better than to take on three at once.

“Keep moving, don’t need any trouble before breakfast… maybe after.” She muttered to herself.

"Stop! Hey kid, I said STOP!" an officer screamed, taking off after a tall, gangly youth. The boy looked panicked, putting on more speed as two other officers joined the chase. He looked behind at them before turning a corner, phasing through the corner to cut it. The officers were shocked, but now knew they were dealing with one of the infected. As they rounded the corner shots rang out, bullets soaring past the youth's head. One of them passed straight through his chest without damaging him, but another clipped his arm and dug a gouge through his hoody and skin. He let out a yelp and stumbled, clamping his hand over the wound to stop the blood flow as he ran.

He tore through the city, jumping through buildings to try and stop the chase. It didn't work exceptionally well. His body was phasing in and out, and he was having trouble controlling his power as he ran. The cops were gaining on him, and it was only a matter of time before he was caught or killed.

He shot through the wall, nearly running into a girl carrying groceries.

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny swayed as she shambled forward into the neverending darkness of the sewer, all of the steps underneath her unsteady as her feet seemed to turn to mush every time they hit the damp concrete. Even when lifted, Penny's legs would slosh around, still connected to each other by a mound of slime, making it seem she was running a huge puddle that was following her steadily, without decreasing or increasing its own noisy pace. The sloshing irritated her, but it stayed, always present, always right behind her, following her and matching her clumsy movements. A part of her wanted to stop, but that was a small part, and it did little to make the hunger that drove Penny waver at all.

Her entire being pushed her forward, looking around for anything that she could use as nutrients. She lead her hazy gaze around the dim bleakness and let a little desperate gurgle from her mouth, the appendage not solidifying enough to make proper words or expressions. Her face hung like the lower parts of her feet, droopy and a mess, all distinguishable features she could subconsciously bring from memory splattered together in a indistinguishable expression.

Penny stumbled as the sewer floor raised a level suddenly, and she let out a loud gurgle as she felt the uncomfortable sensation stir up even more hunger. She laid there for a while, gurgling, calling for food so that it may come and let itself be eaten. Picking herself up, Penny's prayers were answered as she saw the darkness around her pierced itself with a bright light coming from the ceiling. Looking up, Penny's eyes quickly became used to the light and gurgled excitedly as she saw a giant rat start climbing down some now visible ladders.

She loved rats, they were so delicious and she loved way they squirmed in her acidic gut always gave her relief for a few minutes, before subsequently leaving her system with an even deeper desire to consume. This giant rat would be even better, and give her a much needed meal. No, not a rat. A hu- hu-, Penny gurgled quietly in frustration as she felt the ghost memory flash by, a human! Penny's face suddenly brightened, becoming more orderly with her features, revealing a deep green visage of a girl, as she saw the human climb down the ladder, followed by another. Two humans! This was great!

Penny shambled towards the food, her puddles squelching sound becoming lost in the sudden loudness of the sewer, it must be the pipes, oooh the pipes. She still had vague memories of the back-wrenching pain the pipes brought, the uncomfortable sensation of being squeezed in a terrible manner. She gurgled as the hunger drove her from the memories and set her back on task. The humans seemed to be checking stuff out a weird box looking thing, but they seemed to be confused at why there were so many holes in it. So that was the object that kept shoving into her as she shambled through the hallways of her home. Penny was comfortable with the pace she was at, slowly getting to the humans, but gurgled loudly as she felt her squelch hit a rare loud note that alerted the humans quickly.

The girl ignored their screams of mercy and terror as she slinked down into her self, her slime becoming one messy blob, and tensed her entire being. As the humans began to climb up the ladder once more, fighting amongst themselves over who should go up first, Penny released her tension and shot through the air using it, much like a rubber band would. Her entire body splattered onto the skin and clothes of the two humans, making them groan as they hit the ground hard.

Penny wasted no time in beginning her feeding frenzy on the humans, increasing her happiness for every bit of nutrients she got. However, her happiness was tempered as she heard the men start screaming, the sound still annoying even when it was muffled by her slime. She gurgled, her sound making more sense now that she had energy to move it, in irritation as she made her acid levels rise, wanting to end it soon, but only served in making the scream worsen.

Penny sighed inwardly, her hunger abated. Why couldn't food just stay quiet?

Sssam slithered across the city as he stored a few cans of food inside his stomach. The streets were thankfully dry at the moment as it made doing chores for Mitchel much easier. He finally snuck his way into Mitchel's apartment and regurgitated the cans of food. "You know, I don't mind candy bars, bread or lunch meat but cans make moving so much harder!" Sssam protested as Mitchel walked into the living room still sketching his notepad. Mitchel had been intensely focusing on the new drawing his right arm moving at a ridiculous speed. If Mitchel wanted to make a construct accurate to the vision in his mind he had to be very careful when drawing the image, if an image was not properly represented there could be any sort of unknown consequence.

Mitchel looked down to Sssam and gave a fraction of a smile for only a brief moment. "Umm yeah sorry about that Sssam, maybe next time you could pick up some fish or something." Sssam looked to Mitchel confused, enraged and curious. "What the hell are you drawing!?" Sighing Mitchel looked down to the upset snake. "You know that trick when the rabbit opened the door and a train was coming at him?" Sssam looked at Mitchel in disbelief. "You have been trying that for weeks now! It is too complicated to work!" Well, Sssam was right but it was the best gag ever! It had to work! There had to be some way for it to work he just knew it! Mitchel sighed looking at Sssam "Yeah, I guess you do have a point. What did you bring back anyway?" Mitchel asked before picking up two of the three cans. "Raviolis, chicken noodle soup and spaghetti Os'." Mitchel glared at the spaghetti Os' trying to resist the urge to gag. "Why in the world did you get spaghetti Os'!? Those things are disgusting!" Mitchel looked Sssam waiting for a response. "I am a snake. How the heck can I read in the first place!? You're lucky I know them by pictures!" Mitchel smiled awkwardly forgetting that Sssam couldn't actually read. "Right, sorry."

Moving over into the kitchen Mitchel pulled out the can of chicken noodle soup and cracked it open with hammer, taking note to try and reassemble the can opener. Sssam snuck up onto the counter to keep a conversation going with Mitchel. "You do need to clean this place up. It has been a mess for ages! It wasn't even this dirty when we moved in!" Sssam said as he moved through an obstacle course of trash, rotted food and kitchen utensils. The entire counter on the opposite side of the barely operable oven was caked in a substance that looked like solidified peanut butter. All Mitchel gave was a passing 'mmhm' as he continued to cook the soup for another few minutes. He poured the soup into a thermos and screwed the lid on as Sssam looked at Mitchel suspiciously. "You're going somewhere. Where are you going?"

Mitchel moved out into the living room shoving his notepad and various pens and pencils into a laptop case that was used to house his art supplies. "I haven't been outside for three weeks now, I think it is about time I traveled somewhere." Sssam looked at Mitchel unsure of what would become of this spontaneous adventure to the outside. "Then I am coming with you whether you want it or not." Sssam navigated his way up Mitchel's leg and then his chest finally settling around his neck. "Alright, I suppose I do owe you for getting me the soup cans." The new very comfortable Sssam looked up to Mitchel. "Wait a minute! Then why did I need to go get that stuff for you." Mitchel shrugged as his idea to go outside was completely spontaneous. "I was so famished I couldn't move." Sssam rolled his eyes muttering to himself. "Probably too obsessed with that train gag." Mitchel ignored the comment, locked his door behind him and headed down the stairs, a few minutes later he was outside and walking the streets enjoying the semi fresh air.

Ari turned off onto one of the side streets making her way back home still tense and paranoid. She a good distance away from the military pack she saw before which made her feel a little better but she wouldn't feel a complete ease until she was home safe away from everyone who could catch her. She was happy the street was significantly less populated since she could feel the static coming off of her. Even her music was starting to crackle in the headphones. She tried to keep an outward appearance of calm however managing it well until she heard gun shots. She jumped slightly and looked around not seeing anyone at first. That was a good sign, they weren't shooting at her. However she didn't want to push her luck by sticking around much longer. Ari pulled up her hood as a precaution and walked faster, only a few more blocks before she was home free.

Unfortunately the teens hopes of getting home with out issue were dashed as something or someone slammed fairly hard causing her to stumble. Out of reflex she grabbed what ever it was that was assaulting her and saw that it was a boy. Her narrowed and she grit her teeth her hands starting to spark even though the gloves. "Get the fuck off of me!" She yelled pushing him back. Ari was already in a charged agitated state. The sudden assault pushed her over the edge in terms of stress and her powers reacted. A light dose of electricity burst from her hands ans she shoved the boy away, giving her counter an extra push. What she hasn't realized was there were police right around the corner.

Jason let out a yelp of pain as he was suddenly grabbed, the gouge in his arm sending waves of fire through his body. Before he could say anything he was shoved away, electricity coursing through his body. He fell, letting out a pained whimper as he looked up at the girl, his face red from running.

"W-why'd you..." he started to say, only to hear running coming from the end of the alleyway. Jason let out a low curse and grabbed the girl by the hand, taking off towards a nearby brick wall. Just as the cops rounded the corner and started shooting again, he dragged the girl through the wall and kept running, the bullets carving deep holes in the brick where they just were.

He dragged her through building after building, startling the people inside. At least the cops were starting to fall behind, despite the fact that he almost mowed down another kid.

Mitchel was taking a leisurely walk down the sidewalk as two teenagers darted past him followed by officers who completely failed to notice the cartoon snake around his neck. He pulled out his notepad and pencil at lightning speed as Sssam looked at Mitchel excited, the two of them always loved cartoons and now they could finally show them off! "Excuse me kind officers but I need you help with something immediately!" Mitchel said as he quickly summoned two street lights directly in the path that the police were running. "You guys better watch where you're going! You don't want to let those metas get away!" With that he let the street lights disappear. The officers took a quick look at Mitchel then at the path the metas were running. Quickly grabbing a stick of dynamite he shoved it into the officer's coat as it exploded only a few moments later knocking the guy unconscious and covered in soot.

The last very confused cop attempted to pull his gun on Mitchel as he responded with his favorite trick of all time, the anvil drop! An anvil had fallen from the sky, nailing the officer in the head knocking him out cold. Mitchel watched as the anvil had disappeared before it caused further harm. Sssam smiled looking to Mitchel as he had cleaned up the last of the cartoons and began to sketch out replacements for the recently used ones. "No one appreciates a good cartoon anymore don't you agree Mitchel?" Mitchel nodded in agreement. "Sadly they don't but they can surely be a knock out!"

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny trembled slightly as she peeled herself off the ground, the euphoria of getting a good meal making her shake with pleasure. She felt her slim appendages gain strength in their movement, and more control, the little puddle of slime that had been dragging on the floor, now making itself right at home in her body. She still looked kind of unstable, parts of her body bubbling, and medium sized chunks falling from her arm, only to be recycled back into the body as they hit the ground near her feet.

Her improved mouth, which possessed no teeth or
tongue, but did have an opening for swallowing, grinned, the bottom left corner of her mouth becoming stuck to the upper left corner, making some slime cover her new mouth. She looked down and examined her developed arms, the hands being two flat ovals with a small thumb poking out on the side. She looked slightly ridiculous, but she was now able to move more efficiently and reach for things without falling over. Her now ever present grin stuck on her face, Penny started to walk down the Sewer, only stumbling every few steps, in search of her next meal.

Penny stopped as the light of the mystical human-giving hole drenched her, making her body seem to light up with reflection. Penny cocked her head as she waited for the hole to send down more humans for her to eat, but she- Penny gasped as she felt something in her head connect. Whereas before she had been hazy and relying on instinct, she could now think with more clarity. However, the driving force of her earlier state was still strong, staying fueled by unwavering curiosity and the hunger she could still feel in her body. Looking at the hole, Penny only waited a little while, before her newly improved upon mind became impatient. walking forward, Penny placed her hands on the ladder and tried to remember how the humans did it while coming down.

Exerting downward force, Penny lifted herself into the air, and started to climb the ladder. Penny smiled a small smile now, her big stupid grin also gone with her improvement, and felt confidence and excitement rush through her as she got closer to the light. However, Penny hesitated as she heard a sizzling noise coming from below her hands. Lifting one up carefully, making sure she kept a firm grip with the other, or as firm as she could, Penny felt a gasp fall from her lips as she saw the ladder's eaten away state.

Due to Penny's excitement, she had accidently activated her acidic quality more than she had originally intended. Penny was about to try and think of something when she felt the ladder she had been holding with her hand, her acidic hand, come loose, making her give away as well. Falling backwards, Penny felt terror run up her sloshy spine. Hitting the ground, Penny exploded into a pile of green mush, her body's solid-ish shell not able to handle the sudden physical trauma.

All was quiet for a second, before the sounds of multiple little squelches could be heard. The slime that had exploded from Penny's fall was slowly coming back together in an attempt to make Penny whole once more. After a few minutes of the putrid sewer air being filled with squelches, Penny was complete, but continued lay there on the ground silently. She stared at the magical hole, and raised her arms, trying to reach the human-giving hole. She made grunts of effort as she tried to extend her arms as much as she could without using her power, all the while grinning a big stupid grin that screamed her lack of intelligence to the world.

Ari didn't really have time top protest the sudden rush to escape because of the presence of cops right behind them. She looked behind her as the cops rounded the corner before looking forward just as they were about to run into a wall. She tried to slow down or stop but the other boy was bigger and no doubt the adrenalin rush made him a fair bit strong as well. "What the Fu-" Her question turned into a yelp they ran into the wall. She shut her eyes tightly bracing herself for the pain but instead she felt her body go very cold.

Her eyes opened wide as they kept running and she was suddenly inside a building. the people inside staring at them as if they were some kind of ghost. She was pulled through another set of walls before tripping and loosing her grip on the boys hand. She stumbled to a stop panting heavily with her hands on her knees trying to catch her breath and process what just happened. She had just been pulled through no one but three very solid walls! She glanced behind not seeing any kind of hole or sign of trauma to the wall so that meant they went through the wall. She looked at her self poking a near by table but nothing happened. She realized her arm was suddenly light and realized she had lost her groceries somewhere along the way.

Annoyed and frazzled by the events that just happened Ari spotted the other teen and quickly stormed over not really caring if he was bigger than her. She reached to grab him by the scruff of his shirt and yank him to meet her eyes. "What the fuck just happen?!" She growled

Jason collapsed when she let go of his hand, rolling to a stop against a nearby table. He was panting for breath, his arm completely numbed from the constant shocking he got from the girl's hand. His gunshot wound didn't help things, either. When he was yanked up by the front of his shirt his hood fell backwards, exposing a bright red face and wide eyes behind crooked glasses.

"I... Uh..." he stammered, his face growing redder. After a few moments he shut his eyes tight.

"It was a single-point, multi-transfer singularity triggered by my mutation..." he said quickly, cracking open an eye barely to look at her. She looked pretty pissed off, and he wasn't good at dealing with people.

"I... Cops were after me, and they would've been after you too... I don't know what I was thinking, I'm so sorry..."

ZEPHANIAH VAN MIDDLESWORTH rode his father's Harley up to his house. The homemade “Welcome Home, Soldier” banner still hung on the front door in some sort of cosmic irony. He pressed the button on his keychain to open the garage door and walked the bike inside. He shut the garage door, propped the bike on its kickstand and walked into the house proper, fresh ammunition box in hand; never hurt to be prepared. He turned on his television to see what the news for the day was. More 'remain calm' and lies that the government was doing everything they could to find a cure. Bullshit. The government was hoping we'd all kill each other off so they wouldn't have to deal with it. He left the TV on while he made himself a 'whatever is left in the fridge' sandwich so the silence wouldn't suffocate him. When his mother was still alive, there was always noise in the house: some soap opera, oil sizzling in skillets on the stove, music playing while she cleaned the kitchen, it was like the woman had a burning hatred for anything quiet. Zeph supposed he could understand that now. He sat at the table, between two places still set, still empty. The remaining spot was piled with Sunday comics for his dad to read once he made it home, collected over the five years he had been overseas. It was the little things that showed his parents still loved each other dearly, even after so much time apart. The little bottle of soil from every country his dad visited, occasionally sent with a letter on how he was doing every month. Zeph finished his sandwich and decided to walk over to Ione's house, see what his childhood friend was up to.

IONE THALES was up to no good; she had her bedroom door shut, a recording of her practicing violin playing to mask the sounds of her sandbag getting the utter shit beaten out of it.

Her mother knocked on the door, and said “I know a recording when I hear it sweetie, don't try to hide things from me.”

Iona hit 'stop' on the tape recorder, and opened the door, wiping sweat from her brow. “Yes, mom?”

“Zeph is here... Hey, you two hang out a lot, are you ever going to... y'know...?”

Mother!

“Excuse me for wanting my daughter to be happy,”

“I'm seventeen!”

“You're also turning into a plant, and he's a real-life Johnny Blaze, I don't think the law really has jurisdiction over you two any more.”

“We're just friends, mom,” Ione said, so why am I so defensive about it?

“Then why are you so defensive about it?”

“Should I come back another time?” Zeph called from the living room.

“No, I'm on my way, let me throw on a different shirt.” Ione said, glaring at her mother as she shut the door again.

Two minutes later, Zeph and Ione walked out the door and down the street, no destination in particular in mind. Ione looked Zeph over, for the first time analyzing him as a man, specifically, rather than as just a friend. Sure, he was handsome, in a dark, brooding sort of way. Some girls went nuts for that kind of thing, but the ones who would like him for his looks would be instantly turned away by his open and boisterous personality. Those who would like his personality would never approach him to get to know him because he tends to loom over most, scaring them away before he could utter a word. The glowing embers of eyes didn't help. Ione wondered if Zeph had ever thought about her in this way. Probably not, he tends to be oblivious to that sort of thing, as many girls, and even a couple of guys, over the years could testify. So if he never thought of her that way, in what way did he think of her?

“Something wrong? You seem pensive.”

“Oh! Uh, nothing, just... lot on my mind,” Ione said, looking down to hide her blush.

“Alright, but if you ever need someone, I'm right here.”

“Thanks,” Ione said Did he mean... no... couldn't be.

Just 'thanks'? And she says I'm oblivious sometimes. “So what do you want t--” Zeph was interrupted by a metallic thud followed by cry of pain from next to him.

Ione's assailant was a man, mid-thirties maybe, holding an aluminum baseball bat and wearing a doctor's mask, rubber gloves, safety goggles, and a biker duster, like some sort of Hell's Angel, M.D. He spoke with a slight slur denoting a bit too much liquid courage before his vigilante expedition. “You fuckin' Metas are the reason we're trapped in this shithole. Ready to die, girlie? Stay back, boy, or you'll end up like your freak girlfriend.”

“Sorry, couldn't hear you over the sound of your impending death, wanna run that by me again?” Zeph said, taking off the sunglasses he wore to hide his burning eyes.

The man's jaw made slow movements, but no sound escaped his lips.

Zeph snapped his fingers, sending a spark to light the man's jacket on fire, mildly surprised the guy didn't go up in flames entirely, with hundred-proof breath. “I would run. Try not to shit yourself on the way, I hear that burns real well.”

The man didn't stay to find out; he discarded his jacket and bat, taking off down the street. By this time, Ione had managed to get up and brush herself off, a little dazed, but no worse for wear. Zeph stomped out the flame, put his sunglasses back on, then returned to Ione. “You okay?” he asked, knowing she was, but still slightly concerned.

“Yeah, I suppose I should try dyeing this so I don't stand out as much, huh?”

“No, don't let them do that to you. They want you to be scared. If you start hiding your power, they've succeeded.” Zeph said, matter-of-factly as though he hadn't just dished out sagely advice.

In the apartment of his recent parents

Noah sat in the quiet dimness of his apartment. To conserve money and costs, he tried his best to use as little electricity and heat as possible. It was slightly chilly, but cold didn't really bother him. Noah was still shocked from his parents death. Sighing, Noah finished the rest of his bland cereal. He shuffled over to the couch in the living room and plopped down letting out a sigh.

"What am I to do?" The saddened mutant said out loud to himself. Noah got up again and took his Bagua stance again. With a slight droop at the corners of his lips, Noah began to walk around in a circle. Pushing and striking, Noah began practicing as small gusts of air burst from his strikes. He didn't want to cause to much ruckus, and kept the air gusts to a minimum. After many more short bursts later, Noah felt tired he sat back down on the couch. Picking up a newspaper, Noah read about any recent outbursts. Possible sightings of metas like him. "Where would I find more like myeself?" Noah said to himself. Looking over the newspaper he saw pictures of old abandoned schools, and underground subways. Perhaps, I should look out there, Noah said to himself. Packing a bag, Noah walked out of his apartment into the streets.

Streets relatively close by Noah's Apartment, Brownstone

The slightly chilly air blew across his hair which was always wind blown for some reason. Noah could never get it tamed. Nervous, the meta walked down the street to a nearby abandoned school. He saw some officers, which made him extremely worried, his heart began to beat faster. However, a young kid was running farther away somewhere, and the two officers went after him. It was relief for Noah, but he was worried for the kid they were chasing, as he heard shots fired later. Noah walked past an open manhole in which he heard weird sounds emanating from it....squishing. Weird slimy movements. Noah peered down into the manhole and saw a shocking sight. His eyes widened in surprise to see a....girl? She appeared to be green, made of slime, and smiling in a weird way. Plus her arms were outstretched, as if she wanted to get onto the streets.

"Excuse me ma'am?" Noah called out to the girl. "Are you okay? Do you need help?" Noah felt somewhat grossed out by the girl, but the finding of another meta was enough to keep him at the manhole.

The commercial District, Usually he'd be walking on the streets with June. Currently it was by himself. His seventeenth birthday had been terrible. No friends, no school, no family. The only thing that had kept him company was the warm glow of the television. The curfew wasn't going start for a few hours so he had enough time to take a walk around. He watched people walk to and fro, with little care. With what would have been a beautiful day was still ruined by the fact there was an on going military occupation and quarantine. He leaned against and lowered his head in thought. He still needed to find more people. He'd heard rumors of meta's trying to organize. However, all of it was just that, rumor. Not only that it was rumor from people outside. military soldiers talking, paranoid people, everyone was on edge. It was like the city was one powder keg ready to explode.

Worst of all his sister was somewhere in the middle of it all, under government supervision. He pushed off from the wall and continued his walk. He looked up at the sky and shook his head and said under his breath, "you Know, both of my parents said you were looking out for us all...kinda hard to believe it right now. Look All I'm asking you is for me to find her. All I want."

Ari got a good look at the boy in her hands and realized that for all of his height he was a sniveling wimp. His first statement did nothing but confused the hell out of her. She quirked a brow in confusion still glaring at him. His second statement made a hell of a lot more sense but didn't tell her anything she didn't already know. "Next time watch where your running." She growled letting the kid go. She stood up straight and brushed her self off. Strangely enough though there were no more cops chasing them or gun fire. "Looks like we lost them..." she grumbled under her breath not really knowing for how long she would be safe. She looked back down at the flustered mess of a teen and just shook her head. Pathetic. He wasn't even worth picking at. The fact that he was a meta mad him mildly interesting but his personality was just irritating.

"I-I will..." he squeaked out quietly, his face bright red. He sat on the floor as she stood, pulling his hand away from his wound. His hand was coated in blood, and it was forming a small pool on the floor under his elbow. Cringing he looked around for something to stop the blood flow, to no avail.

"I didn't mean to run into you, I can only jump through walls, not see through them." he stated, seeming to calm down some. Either that, or he was going into shock. Probably the second one.

He stood shakily, putting pressure on the gouge in his arm as he stumbled over towards the building's bathroom. It probably wouldn't have anything, seeing as the place looked abandoned, but anything would be better than nothing at this point.

After digging through the empty bathroom he cursed under his breath, stepping back out and looking over at her while he held his arm. Shock had fully set in now, his personality completely changed.

He stared at her, his expression serious.

"I'll replace the groceries you lost at some point. Wait here for an hour, hour and a half. You'll be safe to go home then." He turned, his body going translucent at random as he stepped through the wall, leaving behind nothing but a dripping red stain where his injured arm had passed.

Mitchel looked to Sssam who was still relax around his neck. "Well, as much as I would like to say that it was easy, the constructs left me a tad tired again." Sssam nodded completely expecting it. "You may have figured out how to create nearly anything that doesn't have moving parts but you have no stamina whatsoever, I am surprised you were able to summon all that in quick succession and not want to take a nap." Mitchel looked around seeing a building near the two of them entering it. The entire building seemed a bit empty but it looked reasonably safe. "Sssam is it all clear in here?" Sssam looked around seeing two people talking for a brief moment only to have one walk through a wall. "Well there is that person over-" Mitchel let himself fall to the floor as he leaned against one side of the wall. "Good so its safe." Without any words Sssam turned around to look a Mitchel, slightly annoyed to the complete lack of regard to Sssam's answer. Mitchel kept sketching out replacements for the used props as he was reminding himself what he used. "Street lights, Anvil, Dynamite.." Mitchel trailed off as Sssam slithered away from Mitchel to do a bit of exploring. Closing in on the teenager who was standing in the same room Sssam looked over her, she certainly wasn't a happy kid. He looked up at her as he started to slink up her leg and hopefully on her shoulder, that is, if she didn't throw him across the room. "So who the hell are you?"

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny snapped her head to where the sound came from, her eyes not having to move far to see the new meal. The back of her mouth gurgling, Penny let out a strangled statement, the lack of tongue making it hard to speak,
"FuUuU, wahh fuUuU!" Her arms were reaching for the hole even more now. Inwardly she thanked the manhole god for all his help, for without him, she would never of had all this delicious food in her. Penny's body started to swirl together making big puddle of slime. From the puddle Penny began to rise, the slime sticking to the parts of her body that were now leaving the huge mass of slime, even though the leftover slime would soon follow. It only took a second for her entire body to become fully formed, the puddle that had held her existence entirely gone, all of it being used to make up her body. She looked up at the meal, and observed that it seemed a lot younger than the other humans. She grinned up at the human, before looking at the ladder. Her experience with it had proved how ineffective it was for her use, but it was the only way up.

Frustrated, Penny reared back with her fist, and punched the ladder, her slime subconsciously condensing. Not having expected much in her brief anger, Penny's hazy mind was pleasantly surprised at how the ladder was smashed off its hinges. The happiness from her insignificant little victory, however, was tempered as she realized that she had broke her only chance to getting to the human. She groaned and gurgled loudly,
"HuU-MeenN fuUuU!"

Ari stared at the strange boy as he slowly lost his nervous edge gaining a more serious look. She briefly wondered if it was just the fact that he was being chased that made him a frazzled mess or if something else was going on. She noticed the blood running down his arm as he made his way too the bath room and shook her head taking a look around the abandoned shop they were in. She honestly didn't know what to make of the situation as a whole. She had never come across other metas, they were always so scattered trying to hide. The few she did run into made the unfortunate mistake of trying to steal from her. Suffice to say that her interactions with other metas was not always a good one. She shook her head and sighed softly before the door opened and the strange ghost kid walked out still holding his arm. Before she could ask him anything he poke up in a calm almost hollow tone. There was definitely something going on there. Her body tensed up slightly unsure of what the boy would do. Then to Ari's surprise he just left.

Ari stared at the wall for a long moment wondering if she had seen a real person or a ghost. Honestly with everything that had happened the past few month anything was possible. She laced her fingers on the back of her head and closed her eyes trying to calm down, still shaky from the hasty escape. One issue was taken care of now she just had to get home in one piece... and find something to eat along the way. She shifted her focus outwardly trying to hear if there was any more activity outside like running or searching. Her plan was interrupted when she felt something constricting against her leg. Just jumped lightly and looked down seeing some strange snake thing slithering up her leg. Before she could stop herself Ari let out a screech as she tried to get the creature off of her going so far as to causing an outward burst of electricity to try and zap the thing off of her.

Zeek's thoughts and walk were interrupted by the sounds of gunshots. He ducked into a nearby allyway, Police shooting? Glorious some new meta? hell of something to deal with right now. He decided to just "Wait it out." However that was not an option soon, as then he heard a tremendous explosion. "THE HELL DID SOMEONE DROP A BOMB OR SOMETHING?!" He took of from the alley way in a direction he hoped was away from the blast, though he really couldn't tell.

It was about a minute after he finally stopped his running. He looked around at his surrounding. "Well I don't hear any bombs...police aren't shooting...things seemed to have calmed down...wonder how the news is gonna report this?" He was finally about to head back to his house when something else came up, a scream. He shook his head and turned towards where it seemed to originate from. "Day keeps getting better and better. Bullets I don't want to deal with. or bombs...I can't let a scream go unanswered though." He started heading to the source of the scream.

Sssam fell off her leg shortly before getting zapped. His entire color changed from gray to black as he stiffened up for a moment followed for a quick cough with a perfect ring of smoke exhaled. "Geez girl! Have you never seen a snake before!?" Sssam frowned as he slithered up a pole so he could look at her eye level as he held on. "Mind explaining what all that was about? Or are you going to try to hit me with some of that lightning again? Because you have no clue how much that stings!"

In the corner of the room Mitchel continued to keep his face in his notepad taking only a moment to 'correct' Sssam. "Sssam greet people nicer, ask who they are first." Sssam looked across the room at Mitchel confused. "I got hit by light-!" Mitchel cut him off as he continued to sketch. "Your fault." "But that doesn't make-" "Your fault for startling her." "It isn't my fault sh-" "Don't care." Sssam grumbled something inaudible before turning his attention back to the girl. "It isn't my fault you're so easy to startle." Sssam said while still waiting for some sort of response from the teenager.

Noah Chengxao - Above a manhole that leads into the Volonil Sewers

Noah stared in confusion and shock as the "girl" of slime attempted to climb the ladder up the manhole. For some reason it was very awkward for her to use the ladder. However the gooey meta's inability to speak, and the way it moves kept Noah's interest. However, things began to take a worrying turn when the girl failed to climb the ladder and punched it as a result. The power in that one punch was quite fear-inspiring. While this scared Noah, he felt bad as to why the girl looked miserable. He began to think, well she is obviously stuck down there. Perhaps she wants to leave.

"How long have you been down there er...... Ma'am?" Noah called out again. "Are you hungry?" Noah asked while pulling out a sandwich that he had packed in case he got hungry. Noah let it drop in plastic wrap from the manhole onto the floor near the girl.

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny watched as the human threw down an object wrapped in a strange reflective wrapping. Bending down, her hunger beaten for a moment by her curiosity, she looked at the plastic bag closely, using her small amount of balance to hold her up. In her ignorance, Penny frowned and gurgled as she tried to understand why the human had thrown this at her. However, the white look of the bottom and top, as well as the red middle, spoke to the inner depths of her mind. A s-sen-sandwich! Penny started to salivate acidic slime as she realized that the object was food, a food she could remember eating all the time when she...when she...Penny stopped thinking of remembering things and let herself fall, relinquishing the hold she had on her balance, and let her face and body hit the sandwich and its covering, her slime smothering the entirety of the object.

Penny swathed with pleasure as her hunger abated for a short few seconds, only to be replaced with a shaky euphoria. It wasn't a big meal like those two humans, but it still gave Penny happy chills. Her acidic innards quickly ate the covering and the sandwich, breaking them down and making use of all the nutrients. Penny gurgled as she finished it up, standing up in the same way as before, and began looking at the human in the hole. He had done something nice for her, which gave her a nice feeling for some reason, like it wasn't done often, but was he still food? As a new memory sprung up in her mind, Penny suddenly knew, that no, he wasn't food, he was a fe-fi-fri-Friend. A...Friend. You're not supposed to eat friends. Penny was saddened by that for a split second before realizing she now had someone who could get her lots of food. Looking up, Penny struggled as she began making her slime condense into more suitable speech appendages, "FrIiend? MoOoore Fuuod!" Penny grinned to herself, happy that she had been able to speak like the human had. The little red worm in his mouth seemed to make it a whole lot easier, and her own little green one worked like a charm.

Nill Spursi

Commercial District

Nill stood as still as death, hidden under the shading darkness of the abandoned underground subway station. Everything around him was an utter mess. Shattered concrete, stony debris, and a plethora of accessories and small personal belongings lay scattered about the grimy floor of the station. Vermin like cockroaches and rats scurried about, reigning king amid the decay that lay before them in plenty. The only way in here was through an obscure square shaped entrance on ground level that led to the dilapidated station that Nill inhabited. However, this entrance was packed with debris, with only an extremely narrow slit open for entrance. Even the most experienced and thin of cavers would have difficulty entering, and no sane person in their right mind would ever want to venture into an abandoned subway station. All of them were rife with metahumans eking out survival, and this one was no exception. However, it had no place to store supplies nor did it have anything worth looting. Nill needed neither food nor human items to sustain himself, so this abandoned abode was perfect. Of course metahumans had attempted to enter before, but those capable were those that had an ability that allowed them to pass through the narrow entrance, which made their fight against Nill a one sided slaughter against them. Of course none of the metahumans ever stayed long enough for Nill to do any real damage to them, as they always left in abject terror at the sight of Nill.

In here, Nill was safe from the havoc above. But Nill needed knowledge, all parts of him hungered greatly for it. And to gain knowledge was to hunt, and as such Nill would often move out of his abode to find a victim every three days or so.

Tap. Tap.

The sound of footsteps echoing out against the lonely interior of the station. Someone was here. Nill automatically reacted, incapable of fearing fear or surprise, and simply followed his regular procedure to deal with intruders. Three worms slithered their way out of Nill's mouth and dropped on the floor silently. They ascertained their balance before coiling away towards the stairwell to assess the threat. Nill also moved towards the stairwell, but placed himself flat on the wall perpendicular to the stairwell's end.

The three worms undulated up the two walls enclosing the stairwell to angle themselves in a better position to see the threat. The threat appeared to be a regular man wielding a pickaxe. His face was covered in tightly wound black cloth to conceal his identity, and a gun lay strapped to his waist. He was dressed in a ragged grey shirt and frayed corduroy pants. An obvious looter. The man had broken in through his pickaxe, which meant that the entrance was now wide open. This place would not do anymore as Nill's hiding spot.

The looter was nearing the end of the stairwell, not knowing that his next three steps would be the last his mind took.

When the looter stepped into Nill's view, facing forward and away from Nill, not noticing him due to the pitch black surroundings, Nill leaped onto him. Nill was extremely heavy for his weight, due to his body being comprised of a compact mass of worms. The man fell flat on his back with Nill centered on his sternum area to restrict movement to the maximum extent. Nill then bunched up his body on top of the man so that Nill suffocated the man to prevent any screaming. The looter tightly grasped his pickaxe and began to stab into Nill's back with wild flailing force.

The blows punctured Nill's body, creating gaping holes on Nill's back where dozens of worms began to stream out, writhing and wriggling free.

Nill then disintegrated half of his upper body, causing it to liquefy into a thick, adhesive gooey mush that poured over the looter's head and neck, blinding him and suffocating him. Nill was left without a head and chest, and instead worms poured out in a raging swarm.

Hundreds of worms burst forth, their countless undulating bodies slithering over the looter's body from the waist up. They sought the bare flesh exposed by the man's torn shirt, burrowing in by the dozen into the man. The man was able to let loose a scream for around three seconds before hundreds of worms found themselves writhing around inside his head, taking absolute control over all of his mental functions.Perhaps the man had felt an absolute terror as he felt the worms crawling inside him, writhing under his skin as they quickly inched their way up to his brain. Nill would know soon: the man's mind and memories would be his to consume anyway.

Eventually, every single worm that was in Nill's "body" was now within the man. Not all of them inhabited the head, as there was not enough space. Instead they spread themselves all across the inside of them man's body, comfortably fitting their entire population inside the upper half og the man in their shrunken forms.

Nill stood up once more, this time in a new but equally artificial body. It was possible to completely house the entire swarm into a single foreign body, but doing so was rather inefficient as only a hundred worms at most could inhabit the brain and the others would have to become inactive within the body. The worms were not connected mentally anymore, but the hundred or so worms within the brain now had a nervous system to operate with. The other worms simply went to what one could call "sleep". They merely waited until a signal was given to awake and form the original Nill once more. The legion of beings called Nill conversed and began to formulate a course of action.

Staying here is not an option. We must seek another shelter. We must use this body until we accomplish this task. We must seek knowledge. Knowledge of metahumans. Knowledge of humans. First we must wander, prioritizing disturbances in environment and ascertaining them to gain knowledge of such aversions. When night falls we must actively find shelter, abandoned building or station will do. Until then observation to gain knowledge is key. Memories of human extracted. Name: Boris. Affiliations useful: None. Human is a known criminal - police must be avoided. Nueral functions and mental capacity have been assimilated. Knowledge gained. Now we go.

Nill quickly climbed the staircase, pick axe still in hand. He moved with much more grace and agility, basically indistinguishable from a regular human. Hijacked bodies retained much of their basic mental framework which allowed for greater motor control than if the worms were to attempt to control everything.

Nill walked out of the station, finding the entrance broken into as he had suspected. Nobody was around, so Nill took this opportunity to simply wander around in the shadows to observe.

Noah Chengxao

Above Volonil Sewers

Noah watched as the gelatinous female examined the sandwich. She seemed baffled by the plastic wrap but as soon as food was recognized quickly devoured it. Seeing the sandwich, plastic and whole, being dissolved in the slime that made up the girl somewhat fascinated Noah. He made amental note not to touch the goo should the girl be hungry again.

"FrIiend? MoOoore Fuuod!"

Noah was surprised to hear the first most-formed words come from the girl. Perhaps there was still human there after all. Now the meta saw Noah as a friend which should be pretty helpful as he is not seen as a threat. But where was he to get more food? Noah sat for a moment in thought, staring at the greenish girl in the sewers.....the sewers! They outstretched underneath most if not all the city. Noah could travel down there to a nearby food seller or grocery shop without the possibility of being confronted by police.

"I'm coming down!" Noah shouted as he lowered himself down from the manhole and fell a couple feet. Somewhat landing the fall, Noah regained his balance next to the slime meta. Noah quickly looked at a map he had and motioned for the girl to follow him. "Follow me, I can find you some food...my name is Noah." he said treading through the sewers. Noah thought he might have to use his dad's old shoes since the sewer is quite dirty. "What is yours?" he asked to the meta. Since she is becoming more capable of speech, perhaps she could tell him her name. Introductions and formalities are always good.
