Fight or Flight: Survival [Fight or Flight]

Eric Miles

Volonil sewers

Eric could hear the commotion at street level, letting out a low growl as he uncurled himself from the little ball he was sleeping in. Stretching out his wings as much as the tunnel would allow he dug into the pockets of his torn, tattered jeans and yanked out a watch, glaring at the broken face. He cursed under his breath and slid it back into his pocket as he left his makeshift little home he had made for himself to go see what was going on.

After a short walk he could smell smoke filtering through the tunnels and sighed, turning the corner to see people climbing down into the sewers. It was dark, so it would be hard to see him, but his glowing eyes and loud, angry voice would be enough of a hint that he was there.

"Do you fuckin' nutsacks mind?! If any of you fuckers lead those fuckers upstairs down here, I'll torch every last one of you!" he hissed, his claws clicking on the concrete as he walked a bit closer to the group.

"Tryin' to get some fuckin' sleep down here." he would grumble under his breath, fiery orange eyes staring at the group.

Cyrus Grayson

Commercial District

Cold, ice blue eyes trailed over the helicopter that traveled through the sky above. Positioned atop one of the taller buildings in the district, Cyrus was clearly able to identify the aircraft as military transportation. At the moment, this was something he had been in need of.

For the past six months, Cyrus had been dedicated to eliminating the presence of all military personnel within the city. He'd spent that time tracking down officers of high rank, following said officers anywhere that may have led to a gathering of their colleagues. What came next was not for the light of heart.

The military was dedicated to eliminating all Metas, coming together in order to lay waste to those with supernatural abilities. They were the reapers of those that had survived the disease with unexpected outcomes, bringing their lives to a premature end after having narrowly escaped death. Cyrus was just the opposite. In the case of the regular Humans that senselessly killed off those presumed to be different, he was their Grim Reaper.

Since he had been released from the hospital, he had killed several of those in the military, reducing their numbers to the best of his abilities. Despite the drop in their ranks, his identity had never been discovered. At every crime scene that was put under investigation, all that remained were the corpses of the victims. No murder weapon, fingerprints, or even the smallest trace of DNA could be found. However, there was something. Surrounding every scene, a spray was always formed, signaling that every one of these attacks were caused by the same person. In order to properly file a report for these murders, the culprit was given a name. From the first time he killed, the culprit had been labelled as 'Phantom'.

While this 'Phantom', who in reality was the young boy known as Cyrus Grayson, had killed a significant amount soldiers, he had yet to gain anything that would allow him to cause an event of extreme significance. He needed to hit them and hit them hard, but his leads were bone dry, leaving him without a paddle in the river of blood.

However, as he spotted the helicopter and was able to hear the loud commotion that followed, he knew that something of value had finally appeared. He could gather useful information, no matter what it may take the form of. In the event that his assumption was wrong and this was merely another dead end, he could at least eliminate a few members of the military while he was there.

Dark blue hair floating in the wind from beneath the of his jacket, the gray patches remaining relatively still, the young boy descended the building via a ramp made from solid ice. While the construct wasn't particularly large, it was enough to put his feet on the ground. As soon as he made contact, he began to follow the direction that the low rumble of the vehicles emanated from.

As he allowed his ears to guide him, the boy was rewarded with sight of several armed cars moving in an organized fashion, the soldiers that operated them in plain sight and armed to the teeth. Whether this could truly be considered a reward or not was up for debate, but that didn't matter right now. What mattered was that he had definitely found something of interest.

Keeping close to the shadows, Cyrus followed the personnel as they headed towards their destination. As he observed, he began to theorize the reason behind their deployment. The sheer size of their forces meant that they were dealing with something that was considered very troublesome, leaving him to believe that the target they were after was a Meta. No, there had to be more than one, that much was obvious. All that was left was to figure out what this particular group had been up to that roused the military's suspicions. However, Cyrus would have to put his thoughts on hold, as he heard the sound of approaching footsteps from behind.

"Hey, kid! What do you think you're doing!" Cyan eyes peering from the cover of his hood, Cyrus spotted the forms of two soldiers heading his way. With the main force grouped together, he hadn't expected any stragglers that were left to bring up the rear. He was careless.

Still having yet to turn around, one of the men grew irritated and placed his hand over the mysterious person's shoulder. "Hey, don't ignore me! I asked you what your purpose here is!" With the man's partner already lining the sight of his weapon over Cyrus' skull, this was not good.

For a moment, all was silent. He made no movement, remaining completely still. In a situation like this, it would be impossible for him to deal with the two of them before a shot could be fired. Taking this factor into account, there was only one solution.

Having yet to receive a response, the man was ready to give the signal to shoot, hand slowly rising into the air. He would not risk this stranger turning out to be a Meta. However, before he could issue the command, a small voice suddenly emerged.

"
W-Wait!" Bring their attention closer to the figure, they were greeted by the sight of what appeared to be a young girl. Her body was shivering, hands placed over her arms to provide some sort of comfort. Her skin was pale, as if she had just seen a ghost. "P-Please, h-help me." If the stutters that interrupted the small whimpers she called a voice weren't enough evidence, the bright eyes that threatened to form tears were. She was frightened to death.

"
I-I was going home when I w-was suddenly attacked. I tried to run away, but he was t-too fast. It was like he wasn't even H-Human." Rather than the tears merely threatening to appear, small puddles were now streaming down her face. "I-I'm scared." With each spoken word, she sunk closer into the small ball she had formed with her knees that were kept close to her chest.

Both men looking to each other and sharing a nod of approval, a pair of comforting smiles were formed on their faces. "Don't worry, everything's fine now. He can't hurt you while we're here." Doing his best to put the apparent woman at ease, the officer called over his assigned partner. "Hey, put down that gun and come help me check her for wounds. We don't know what that damn Meta might've done." Nodding in compliance, the other man set down the weapon and rushed in order to attend to the civilian. That was the beginning of the end.

It had happened in an instant. One moment, they were trying to help calm the shaken woman and the next, their heads were left to roll on the ground as if they were balls in a game of billiards. The last thing that they remembered was the air suddenly growing very cold.

Gripping his arm, Cyrus allowed the blade of ice that had formed in the palm of his hand to thaw. Not sparing the now deceased soldiers a single glance, the boy continued to follow the trail left behind by their colleagues. "
Fools."

When he had finally caught up with the military forces, he just managed to catch the beginning of their assault. The shop in front of him was aflame, the remaining parts covered in a hail of bullets. Several of what appeared to be Metas attempted to make their escape and sought refuge from the sudden attack, fleeing from the threat of death.

As he watched the scene unfold, Cyrus formulated a plan. There were several soldiers here and their sheer numbers were promising. If he was able to track them after the events that occurred here, it was likely that he would be able to obtain valuable information. With this in mind, Cyrus began to put his plan into action.

Pulling down the gas mask that concealed his identity from the world, the blue-haired boy took in a deep breath, holding in the air he had accumulated for several moments. After the pause, a thick mist was produced after Cyrus opened his mouth once more, covering the soldiers in a veil that blinded their vision. Now was the time to strike.

Charging in while readjusting his mask, Cyrus silently approached one of the disoriented members of the assault from behind. Extending his hand to make contact with the man's back, a vapor began to form before it vanished upon meeting its destination. With his objective completed, the young man planned to take his leave as soon as he had arrived. However, yet another obstacle threw his plans off-course.

One of the other soldiers had caught him in the middle of his movement, prepared to fire upon him. Lowering his back to avoid gunfire, Cyrus mimicked the same stance he had taken earlier and produced a thin icicle in the palm of his right hand. As quickly as possible, he penetrated the man's temple with the sharp point, killing him instantly. Not having been able to prevent the gun from going off, two more soldiers quickly approached the area they had been drawn to.

Like he had done with the previous officer, Cyrus made quick work of those that opposed him. Slicing the exposed flesh with a serrated edge of ice, the two hit the pavement. With more beginning to pick up the sounds of the scuffle, he decided it would be best to make his escape now before the mist dissipated.

Spotting a manhole a short distance away, Cyrus jumped into the opening, forgoing the ladder for the sake of a quick escape. This appeared to have worked, no sign of any pursuers. Like always, he had disappeared without a trace, like a specter.

While he hadn't necessarily dealt with many of their forces, his objective had been accomplished the moment he made contact with the surviving soldier's back. Now, he would have a clear trail that would lead him wherever the man went.

Noah Chengxao

Volonil Sewers

Noah saw the building ablaze and a sudden wall of black something preventing the military from entering. From another side of the building, Noah noticed a few other people jump out and into a manhole. Perhaps the metas? They were escaping into the sewers...where Creepy was. Noah hoped in the back of his mind that she was still alright. Keeping his map handy in his pocket, he retreated back into his nearby manhole as well. Perhaps he could meet up with the other metas as well...but what if they were dangerous? Noah walked around in the sewers quietly. He planned to follow the group, but remain in earshot.

Madison Waller

None of your damn business (Commercial district, on the move)

Madison realized that she probably didn't really need to ask for permission to follow them, so she ran towards the manhole and jumped in. "Ew..." She said as she lowered herself into the disgusting environment of the sewers. She hadn't really connected the manhole to being an entrance to the sewers when she had seen the man pop out... She'd just seen it as a way AWAY from the military guys, and not towards anywhere in particular. She walked towards the small group of others that had entered the sewers. "Uh, hey, who are you guys, and why were you all in that building?" She asked. "That wasn't too smart, meeting in such a obvious meeting place as an abandoned building. Maybe you should have convened down here in the sewers, or somewhere like that."

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny was quiet as she heard the sounds come from down the tunnel, the sounds of foots hitting the ground echoing around her. Her heart was lit alight as the puddle stirred, tiny little ripples making waves in the slime, even though there was no outside cause. Was Noah back? Did he decide to come back for her? She knew it, she knew it! Noah was her friend, and he would never just leave her, right? From the sounds of all the extra footsteps, Noah had also brought her some food. Maybe it was an appeasement, an 'I'm sorry I left you' gift.

Well, color her appeased, because the from what she heard, she was about to have a feast. The puddle of slime started to ripple out more as the individual slime molecules began to bond together according to Penny's will. Forming clumps of dense slime, Penny slowly rose from the puddle as the density spread throughout her entire system and began to recreate her humanoid form. It was no time at all, before a fully formed Penny was present, her gaze leveled at the direction her food had made noise. Walking forward, slowly, but surely, Penny started her path to the prey Noah had brought to her.

Penny gurgled lowly as each step brought her closer, her hand propped up against the wall of the tunnel to help her keep balance, unknowing of how her acid was cutting a very slight groove into the surface of the stone. As she neared the sounds of all the new food, Penny realized that, once again, the Hole God had given her a meal through Noah. Was Noah a prophet for the Hole God? Was that why he was so good at bringing her food. Regardless of his hole-y intent, Penny couldn't help, but smile as she began salivating, her desire to eat having increased after the realization that Naoh hadn't betrayed her.

Commercial District -> Sewers

Ari quickly climbed down the hole and moved away from the man hole not wanting to be dropped down upon by any uncoordinated members of their rag tag group. She covered her nose and mouth with her sleeve as she was greeted by the sewer smell, only a slight improvement over smoke inhalation. She took a look around relived slightly that there wasn't any surprises waiting for them in the sewers as well. She watched as Zeek and the other went down wondering if they would really get off scott free, until some grumbling behind her interrupted her thoughts. She turned quickly body already tensed for a fight and met pair of glowing red eyes. "Fucking hell?!" He snapped a small crack of electricity escaping her but nothing more then one would feel from static shock. The dim lighting from the manhole didn't reveal a lot of the dark passageways so all she could make out was some sort of winged biped with horrible scaly skin.

Once everyone was down into the manhole the wall was dropped and the last two metas dropped down covering the hole back up. The one who had thrown the cars spotted a straggler knocked out among the boxes and checked his pules before tossing him over his shoulder and meeting up with the group bellow. "Well that went better than anticipated." The darkly clad woman sighed as she fished her flashlight from her belt turning it on. to view the rest of the gathering. She noticed a familiar reptilian like Meta standing grumpily off to the side and could only shaking her head not really wanting to deal with the fowl tempered Imp. "Go back to sleep Eric, we're not sticking around here very long." She called over not wanting a mini-meta-brawl to break out in the small contained space. Especially with the military above their heads. The woman looked back to the group a mask covering everything but a pair of blue eyes. "This might all seem strange to you all but we can't stop and stick around here to explain." She motioned down the fork path hoping the group was follow instead of lingering around like a bunch of slightly charred gaping fish.

Eric was about to say something when he got shocked by the girl, his eyes narrowing dangerously. He gave a little shiver, the last few sparks coming off of his wings as he spread them in a show of intimidation, flames licking along his mouth.

"You're lucky Eris is here. That's the only one you get, girly." he growled, walking past the group and right up to Eris, his wing bumping Ari out of the way.

He poked Eris in the forehead with a long claw, growling under his breath.

"You've caused a lot of trouble for me today... I expect something better than half-smashed dog for my fucking dinner. I'll cover your escape, get going." he said as he turned to keep an eye on the manhole cover.

He sat on the hard floor and crossed his legs, his wings folding across his bare chest. Until the group was away, he kept his burning eyes focused on the girl that shocked him, not really noticing Penny until she was almost right on top of him.

"Oh, it's you. Please don't try to eat me, I'm not in the fucking mood."

Mitchel & Sssam

Commercial District Sewers

Mitchel continued to ignore the people around him as he sketched, aside from Sssam. Sssam wasn't too fond of the sewer but he did understand why they were down there. "Since we are all down in this dank sewer how about we all share first names?" He brought his tail to his chin for a moment trying to remember the phrase. "One of none and all for some? Yeah that sounds right so lets share first names!" Sssam brought his head up so show his pride as he spoke about himself. "I am Sssam! The most dangerous and elusive of all of us! I am the one that stares at you from the dark waiting to strike as-" Mitchel spoke up to interrupt Sssam again. "You don't have fangs, you can't swallow anything bigger than a half gallon bottle and with your mouth running you aren't very elusive or quiet." Sssam looked to the still sketching Mitchel and frowned. "Hey! I was sounding epic! All of these people would have been honored to carry me around and you just ruined it!" Mitchel produced a small laugh before continuing the conversation. "Sure buddy, You were about to become a god." Sssam nodded as he failed to see the sarcasm dripping from the sentence. "Exactly! Thank you!"

"Ace"

Commercial District Sewers

Ace moved through the sewer as he attempted to get as close to the front of the group as possible. "Don't guys! This is actually a victory! Being able to live another day so we may strike back against the military is a tactical victory!" He noticed the dragon kid in the sewers and decided an apology was fitting. "Sorry but we need this sewer to make an escape from some military forces above us." Ace said as he hid the disgust of the creature from his words and masking them with a happy and cheerful tone. That thing was disgusting and just as repulsive as as the slime creature, both of them belonged in the sewer and deserved to stay down here forever. He whipped out a joker card from one of the two decks he kept up his sleeve, as he threw it at the floor it leveled itself out and grew considerably larger, Ace threw the unconscious meta he had been carrying over his shoulder onto the giant playing levitating playing card, while it clearly wasn't a stretcher it was the best option available. When he heard the ranting from the peculiar snake he liked what he was hearing. "Good! Then your shall be a great asset to the team!" Ace finished before hearing someone else mutter the truth. "Then umm, Your attitude is still a positive and helpful one!"

Aleks Vitaly

Commercial District - Volonil Sewers

Aleks Vitaly was loitering at the corner of a random building watching everything happen. He tried his best to look like an innocent bystander, his clothing hiding his veins except for his hands that, at the moment, were glowing bright purple and pink, thankfully nobody noticed yet. From the cover of the shadows he watched the police, the fire, and most importantly, the people that were being chased away and down into the...

"Sewers..." He muttered to himself.

Not wanting to get smelly, his piqued interest far outweighed any concern for his well-being and he followed. Pushing the random civilians out his way he danced, weaved, and ducked his to the front of the crowd to see exploding cards and the people inside the burning building disappear into the sewers. Then it clicked.

People like him were the ones being attacked right now, the police weren't here to help anyone...maybe the normal people but they sure as hell weren't helping the freaks of nature. Now his mind was racing, he wanted to help the Metas but he'd just get gunned down before he could really do any major damage and yet he just wanted to run away and live the rest of his life not a fugitive that's been discovered...his hands were balled into fists as he contemplated and small streaks of neon were snaking around his fists.

But as fate would have it, today would be the day he was spotted as a gloved hand grasped onto his wrist, a grip of iron that was not getting broken by regular means. Turning his head he saw a helmeted bruiser of a man, his face one of pure hatred as the man pushed up his sleeve, revealing the brightly colored veins underneath. The cop pulled his pistol around and into Aleks's gut.

Being the paranoid man Aleks was, he noticed the pistol long before it was pressed to his stomach and he closed his eyes.

Seconds later a constant buzzing noise similar to that of a neon sign and brightly colored, altered vision, he could tell he was in the form of neon. Bullets rang out but the passed through the gaseous mass and quickly than he ever had before, he fled down the manhole, escaping the chaos above.

At Work

"Well sir, as you can see, we have a variety of fruits and vegetables for sale today. These apples right here, for example, were picked just a few hours ago and only just arrived about 20 minutes ago. We have Granny Smiths, McIntosh, Amrbosias, Golden Delicious, Crispin, and a number of others. We also have squash, pears, and of course pumpkins of every size. Please, feel free to touch, and if you'd like a sample-" He felt three short buzzes in his pocket and immediately passed it over the his partner, "James here would be happy to offer you one." He walked out from behind his booth and over to the person in charge.

"Hi, I have to go for the day, family emergency. James has the booth." He walked out and back to his apartment, then began preparations. He pulled the beds out of his two couches and threw black sheets on them, closed the blinds, and pulled out a first aid kit, just in case. He pulled on his gloves and a hoodie, then climbed out his window to the fire escape. He grabbed it with his now gloved hands and rode the ladder down to the ground, then removed a glove and pulled off the nearby manhole. He had picked this apartment for this exact reason, the manhole in the alley. He repelled the manhole and winced as it clattered to the ground, then put his glove back on. He pulled out his phone and flipped it open, pressing the 7 key twice.

"Alright, all set up, you can bring them here." He snapped the phone closed again and climbed the ladder back up to his apartment, waiting for them to arrive.

Commercial District (heading to Highrise Apartments)

With all the trouble going on Mai thought it might be good to leave work early. So she gave her boss a excuse to leave then headed to the back to change. She grabbed her purse and headed towards her apartment. While walking she went passed a alley that was by the apartment. But then she heard a clattering noise. She jumped a little and saw someone. He standing by a manhole on his cell phone. She couldn't hear what he was saying. Then he hanged up and climbed up the latter back up to the apartment.
"What in the world?" Once he was gone she walked over to the man hole and looked down. Then she looked back up to wear he climbed up to. She had know idea what was going. But she was getting more curious. "Somebody must be coming." She said to her self. Then she saw a rat run passed her and she screamed a little. "Ah!" Then she covered her mouth. Darn he prob heard her scream.

Bentley heard a short scream behind him and spun around to see a girl, her hand over her mouth, looking up at him a little worried. He relaxed his tensed shoulders and slid back down the ladder, walking over to her. "Hi I'm Bentley. Might I ask what you're doing back here? It's hotel property, so only tennants are supposed to be back here." As he was saying this, he let himself give off a magnetic field that would mess with any electronics she had on her. He considered knocking her out and bringing her upstairs to his house, maybe question her before everyone got there, but decided to do things peaceably. "Here, why don't you come upstairs, I'll make you some coffee or something. Sound good?" He flashed a smile, hoping his charm would work, he'd really rather not carry her up the ladder.

Sewers - on the move

Ariana Pierce

Ari was only slightly surprised that the shock did nothing to effect the strange creature, it wasn't exactly fairly strong to begin with. She clenched her jaw ready to really zap lizard boy until he called ahead to the other two who had lead them down into the sewers. She clenched her fists in her pockets holding back on shocking him, not really worth it if there were others on the same side. While she did know a few of the people in who escaped the little death trap she couldn't really call them 'friends' just yet. She glared over at the loud mouth snake as it started praising its self her finding a bit of humor in how the man it was sitting on poked holes in his grand description. The cartoon was little more than an over grown worm with scales. Ari looked towards the front of the group where the two who lead the way into the sewers walked. Had to tell much of their features in the clothing they were wearing then again that was probably the point.

Eris Dimitris

"I'll see what we can find." She called over to Eric knowing they owed him something for not torching the group as they entered the sewers. He wasn't exactly the friendliest of metas but when there was a whole city against you any ally counts. By the small army that had shown up to take out this hand full of metas they were also getting more serious about eliminating all of them. She sighed looking over to the group they had helped. While she didn't know if all of them were metas she could tell some were, the mutations were fairly obvious. The cartoonist was probably one of the more interesting abilities she had seen. Eris reached up to pull down the mask she was wearing to show more then just her eyes but kept her hood up hiding her hair. "So what were you all doing in that shop? Not exactly the safest place to hideout in."

Mai Hyuuga

Mai saw the guy from earlier coming down the ladder. She stepped back when walked over to her. Darn what was she going to do now. He then introduced him self. He said his name was Bentley. Then he asked what she was doing here and saying how this was hotel property. Actually she lived here. Guess he never saw her around not that she ever saw him around either. Then he invited her to his apartment upstairs. He didn't seem mean she thought it would be ok. "Um actually I live here but um yah I guess I can go with you." She gave a small smile.

Situation: Will never get the smell off of me.

As the group trudged the sewers, Zeek couldn't but feel that indeed it had been their lucky break. However, considering the stench he was both regretting and glad he missed breakfast. Sure he was hungry and he was behind on his normal required food intake, but taking into account the permeating smell that plunged like a knife into his olfactory glands. He was not entirely sure he could have held it in at this point. He looked at the snake as it began ranting, "Dude, you look and sound like something that crawled out of the Calvin and Hobbes anthology! and are about as threatening as such. Not to mention the fact trust me...the girl you keep pissing off is Much scarier." Few times that he'd run into Ariana in High-school were not pleasant ones. She seemed to be constantly on bitch mode. Current events probably were not helping.

COMMERCIAL DISTRICT SEWERS

"So what were you all doing in that shop? Not exactly the safest place to hideout in." Zeph heard a woman say.

"<Burning it down, apparently.>" he replied, too calm for someone who just escaped from a burning building and a United States Military force, into a manhole. Quite grateful for his gas mask, from the faces of the others down here: from subtle clenched noses to not-as-subtle hand-over-mouth, eyes watering, bent over and near-vomiting. "<You okay there, Ione? You look green... more so than usual.>"

"I'm-- hrk-- used to smelling flowers all the time, forgive me if this isn't exactly pleasant." Ione practically hissed. "Could you-- hrk-- make a candle or something?"

"<Uhh... The air might be really flammable in here, I'm not sure if-->"

"Worth it, just do it!" Ione yelled through both her hands. Bile rose in her throat, and she did the one thing any proper lady would do; she hunched over the river of human excrement beside her and released an almighty stream of vomit to join its flushed brethren.

"<Right, candlelight, coming up.>" Zeph said and created a few small, flickering flames around himself, both for light and to dampen the smell. He patted her back, and when she stopped expelling whatever she had actually eaten over the last week, he slung her arm around his shoulder and helped her walk along with the rest of the group. Ione was still shaking, so Zeph called up to the rest of the group as they caught up: "<How much longer are we going to be down here? I don't think our delicate flower here can take much more.>"

"If I could find enough energy to clench my fist right now, I'd punch you." Ione said through gritted teeth

"<I'm sure you'll remember later, but for now, I regret nothing.>" Zephaniah retrieved his sat-phone from his pocket once again, but there was no signal to give his father a sit-rep.

MEANWHILE, OUTSIDE THE QUARANTINE...

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN 'NOT THERE ANYMORE'?" Cassius Van Middlesworth exploded

"Sir, they did a sweep of the building, there's no sign of them anywhere. They had to fall back because of the fire, but--"

"Just... get out. Keep me posted if they find anything."

"Sir, if you don't mind my asking, what's your interest in these Metas? You don't seem to express--"

"OUT!"

The informant scurried off, back to his actual boss.

"What are you doing, kid...?" Cassius mused aloud.

Penny Wilson

Volonil City Sewer

Penny looked down inquisitively as she noticed the giant object in front of her. No, not an object, a somebody, because an object couldn't talk. Squinting her runny eyes, Penny could see the hints of a large figure, maybe a bit bigger than Noah, and she could see a slight sheen that she recognized instantly. Holding up her hand, and pointing at the figure, she asked inquisitively, "ScCaly Rrat?" It didn't look like a human, and it was in the sewers, so it must be a rat. She had never found any kind of animal, other than rats, living in the sewer.

She had seen this scaled rat around the sewers in passing a number of times, and she had always been rather scared of it. At first she had thought it was food, but that train of thought had only gotten her a deadly light show that had caused her insides pain.
As Penny thought over the countless times she had passed the scaled figure, the end of her finger dripped a tiny blotch of acidic slime, landing rather close to the sitting person.

Aleks Vitaly

Commercial District Sewers (?)

Two solid feet landed in a small puddle, small splashes sounding out in the rather quiet, dark, and dank sewers, up above the sounds of gunfire faded. Conveniently the neon residue from his recent use of his powers clung and circled his body in lazy orbits, normally he'd be annoyed but the neon was generating much needed light.

Aleks breathed out an irritated sigh and took a step with each word.

"Can only go straight now...just had to want to help these people...so stupid...I got shot at...manhandled by some strongman in a police uniform..."

His list of complaints grew along with his temper as he trudged through the dirty water, the lingering neon almost completely dissipated now...at least he had his backpack of glow sticks.

"Ha...maybe there's a working neon sign down here...underground light show...sounds like a plan." He was now lightly chuckling to himself but was stopped short when he heard people in front of him.

Freezing up, Aleks slowly crept a little backwards, now batting at the little wisps of light as if they were mosquitoes, desperately trying to put them out. Going into a low crouch, his butt was suspended only a few centimeters from the sewage water but a quarter to half of his chain was submerged. His mind was racing now, paranoia taking a hold of his mind.

I wanted to help them...but there they are...what if they aren't friendly...maybe some kind of gang...they could kill me...even if I'm one of them...right...has that ever happened...doesn't matter...what do I do...what do I do...what I attack them...I have surprise on my side...no...there's too many...uh...

Moments later he came to a decision as the remaining lights died and he was once again engulfed in shadows. Time to do what he's never really done before...time to follow complete strangers.

Miran Svtata was still walking.

To where? Well to any observers (Who still didn't exist, sadly) it would seem he was aimlessly walking, perhaps looking for someone to sell whatever was in the bag he was carrying, or perhaps he was searching for something to put in the bag, and the possibility he was simply on a stroll, and the sandwich contained his Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich.

Of those options, the one closest to that would be the first one, as the second and third are frankly terrible ideas in the current situation of the world, then again. Strolling through an abandoned street was an easy way to get killed regardless of why.

That is, however not true if the person your attempting to sell the contents of a oddly-large paper bag to are the type of people that hang out in abandoned streets, and decidedly wouldn't kill you, probably.

Regardless of whatever he was doing with a paper bag and walking down the street, that is what he was doing, and was still going to for an indefinite amount of time after this post.

Sewers

Eric sighed, a spout of smoke coming from his nostrils as he fought to calm down. How dare that little bitch shock him like that? For no reason, too! He shook it off and looked over at Penny when she spoke, surprised that she could. The most he ever heard from her were low gurgles and popping noises.

"Huh? Scaly rat? Do you see any rats around here with wings?" he asked with a frown, watching as the acid fell next to him. His tail twitched out of the way as he curiously poked a nail into the slime. It didn't seem to do much damage to him, but it was obvious that the stuff was highly corrosive based off the light smoke that was coming off his finger. He flicked it away and looked over at her with a small frown.

"Careful where you drip... Burn me with that shit and I burn you right back." he snarled.

It was then that he caught a small flicker of light from deeper inside the tunnel, his glowing eyes narrowing. It didn't look like it was part of the group... He let out a small spout of flame to light the tunnel momentarily.

"Hey! The fuck are you doing, sneaking around down here?"

Penny tilted her head as the rat yelled at her, proclaiming against its own state of being a rat. Well, now that she really looked at him, she could see a lot of difference between him and a regular rat. She had seen plenty of rats, probably making her an connoisseur of the little meat packages, and the thing before her looked nothing like one. He was larger than a rat, didn't have fur like a rat, and also, well, rats didn't speak, only squeaked. She would know, since if they could speak, she was sure they would be doing stuff other than just squeaking while she ate them. There was also the fact that, like he had mentioned, rats didn't have wings, which she was glad about. Rats with wings would just make it ultimately harder to get to them with the same convenience as now.

However, that lead to the question of what was he? He certainly wasn't a Noah or a human, so what else was there to be? Backing up, taking heed of his rather loud complaints/threats, Penny sat down with a squelch and observed the new being that she had never had the grace to look at before. He didn't seem as explosive as he usually did, not as scary either, but he still wasn't as nice as Noah was. Penny wondered where Noah was, and suddenly remembered that her potential meals were getting away, along with Noah, yet, if she left he would never be able to sate the burst of curiosity that implored her to observe this new creature. Hunger for food or knowledge...

Penny was stopped from making a decision as the creature yelled out to a shadow, obviously calling for someone. She could eat this new person, right?

Aleks Vitaly

Sewers

Still crouched and still pondering, Aleks briefly considered firing off a bolt of neon but the sudden illumination and loud yelling startled him out of such thoughts and he almost fell backwards into the water. Quickly recovering he stood up in an abrupt, panicked manner, eyes wide, fists clenched with neon seeping from his backpack. From that small burst of light he only caught a glimpse of whoever called out to him yet the words were clear and they were not friendly.

Shit! Not friendly! Not friendly! Time to...no...the one is sitting down...not hostile at least...

Calming down, he stepped forward a few paces and held out his hand, palm upwards, an orb of bright colors shot it towards the two. The orb traveled almost lazily, taking its sweet time reaching its destination. After a few awkward moments the orb settled next to the two, illuminating them and revealing their features. The one sitting down didn't look all too threatening but the one who yelled at him was something else...

Jumping backwards with a yelp, the orb violently went out with a flash, not enough to blind but enough to make someone look away and involuntarily a bolt of neon flew from his fingertips like a laser out of a sci-fi movie towards the big, aggressive one.

Eric heard the squelch next to him and glanced at her. The orb of neon lit her features a little better, and though she seemed like she was human once, most semblance of that was gone. Like him. For a moment he was glad to know he wasn't the only one that was massively disfigured, that is until the orb suddenly flashed out. He blinked his eyes a few times, but before he could say anything the bolt suddenly struck him in the chest. He felt a searing pain and growled under his breath, standing suddenly.

"What the FUCK was that for?!" he demanded, inhaling deeply as his wings spread to fill the tunnel. He let out a beastly roar and shot a huge spout of flame at his attacker, not really caring if the attack was accidental or not.

Volonil City Sewer

Penny looked over curiously at the dimness of the tunnel. The thing beside her must have better eyesight than she does, because all she saw was darkness, and its cousin dimness. Then, out of the protection of the black shroud, a small little sphere floated out, its natural light making the tunnel glow. Looking over, Penny's eyes took this chance to really study the creature she had sat down beside. This was going to be her only chance to see the details. It looked...rather cool. The reptile skin was green like hers, but it seemed to be a lot more solid and darker. Maybe he could teach her how to keep the bodies stable? It seemed like Noahs and Humans didn't have the same problem she did when it came to keep their skin together.

Penny jumped, her form's density becoming considerably less stable, as a the small light exploded in a flash and blinded her for a second. She had only gotten the flash out of her eyes when a bolt of that same colored light came and struck the new subject of her curiosity, right in the chest. Penny shrunk and scrunched her knees to her chest as the object of her study became an angry beast, unhesitatingly shooting a roaring flame in the direction of where the bolt had flown out from. She shrieked a bit, the slime that had made up her vocal chords forming on instinct and letting out a shriek, feminine in sound.

Kuro Heur

Commercial District - Volonil Sewers

Kuro silently followed. Sure, it was weird to be in the sewers, but it was even weirder to see people in there. Thus, not talking to anyone. He felt nervous around this many people, anyways. When the military barged it, it was frightening, and he didn't take note of the people around him. He sighed as he stared up at the sickly green bricks of the sewer. He then opened his pocket. His eye began flying out, whispering to him. "I've slumbered for too long..." It said menacingly, echoing throughout the tunnel. He looked back at it. "Really?" he asked. From the others' perspectives, he was talking to thin air. "Who are these people?" it asked, voice sounding raspy, even sick. He turned his head. "Why, I don't know..." he said, looking back at the group.
