Kaiden Elder

Kaiden wasn't new to thunderstorms. He had admired them growing up, watching the swirling air above him, the boom of the thunder in the back, as if the skies were crying out. It was the lightning that captured him, the crackling beams of electricity that lit up the dark skies, that was what he enjoyed. He sat on the roof of his cabin, he figured he really wasn't supposed to be there, but he was the only occupant of Cabin 1, the lone child of Zeus. He let the rain sprinkle on him, it wasn't as heavy as the clouds would let you think, his dark hair was slightly flattened by the precipitation and his clothes damp, but he wasn't anywhere near uncomfortable. If anything, watching the lightning made him feel better, happier. It was a special occasion for him, it was reassurance that his dad was still up in the heavens doing whatever the ruler of the Gods did.

"Hey, Elder! It's probably going to start raining harder! You should go inside!" The boy snapped into reality for a moment, his eyes drifted to the land in front of him, in the middle of the horseshoe of cabins stood a boy with innocent eyes and a concerned expression, "You should get inside!" Kaiden held in the laugh that threatened to escape his lips, it was now obvious that the kid was new. Kaiden had spent five years at Camp Half Blood. Five years of climbing the roof to be closer to the sky and away from the other campers, most others understood, and new what he was like. He was popular in a way, it was more the respect he had for being a son of a Zeus and the accomplishments he'd achieved at camp, people admired his fighting skills, however, there were flaws. He wasn't perfect, he was far from it and he knew it. His thick lips turned to a small smile, "Get inside."

The boy did without question, disappearing into the cabin of Hermes where all the unclaimed new comers were stuck to stay in. Kaiden was able to think back to the few days where he was stuck in there, before he was high on the social ladder. He was just another new kid, picked on for being small and weak. Things definitely changed for the better. He leaned back, his muscular arms holding him up. He narrowed his eyes towards the sky, he had a sort of feeling. He felt as if something big was going to happen. He tilted his head, the rain beginning to thicken. Another lightning strike cracked off in the distance. He too had the power over electricity, he had grown experienced in altering lightning over time.

He sighed, life at camp did get boring. Every single time he left for a quest was hell of an adventure, always dangerous too. Kaiden had been in too many life or death situations for any sixteen year old, even one that was a demi-god. He found himself throwing himself in danger to save others, and he had no doubt more of these situations would come along and he never planned on backing down. He was eager to see where life would take him, he was far from sure of what was possible for him, he honestly had expected to be dead by this point. "Soon." He muttered, accepting that prophecies and karma would catch up to him, that a monster, or a Titan, or a God would come to him, would ambush him. He'd had dreams about his own death, his dreams were rarely just dreams, and he knew that. As much as he wanted to be, he simply could not prepare for what was coming, whatever was coming.

It all started on this day. He shook his head, forcing his thoughts away from the potential tragedies of the future and instead on the present day, the current storm and the world he was living in.
