We all know and love the X-men but what if they weren't the same ones we know?

In this world the only two people who are the same are Charles Xavier and Eric lehnsher. In a world with no avengers, no fantastic four, and no other heroes, the X-men are the only ones who can defend humanity. Unfortunately humanity hates and fears mutants. Yet a threat comes that only the X-MEN have a hope of stopping and it's a small hope at that.

On the reverse side, the brotherhood of mutants maintains it's stance as an enemy of Humanity, seeing the humans who attack mutants as inferior and seeing mutant kind as the next step in Evolution. They are one of the biggest threats to the X-men as well even if they view themselves more as rivals than enemies. Can the X-MEN and the Brotherhood set aside their differences and work together to save the world? Or will they both be destroyed by what is to come?

(Hey guys this is an OC only X-Men storyline. The only Canon characters allowed are magneto and professor X both of whom are up for grabs for those who wish to claim them. All characters are mutants, and brownie points will be awarded for originality. I am also allowing only Two Omega level mutants to start, one for each side. To apply for that contact me via Pm (private message) with your omega idea. I will be accepting these based off of their ability to blend with the plot and nothing else so if you are declined please don't be upset.

In depth
Personality: Neil is often viewed as a demon, some kind of monster meant to be exterminated. With the exception of his allies, who see the true Neil as a boy simply trying to make the best of a shitty situation. Those who find themselves against him find out quickly why most see him as a monster. Internally however Neil finds himself feeling lucky, being a mutant doesn't seem to bother him in the slightest in fact he enjoys feeling special.

Bio: Neil was born in San Antonio Texas, but was quickly moved to Houston by his parents. He lived a relatively normal life there until he was just twelve years old. It was then that his mutation awakened in he simply vanished in a firestorm. It wasn't that simple however, he appeared in a world of fire, poisonous chemicals, and vicious beasts who sought to kill him. He spent three days in that hellish place hiding and running for his life, until he was found. In the moment of terror his abilities awakened once more and he appeared in the middle of Central Park in a blaze of glory. Needless to say this didn't bode well with the authorities and the young boy was forced to run for his life yet again. However he didn't return alone, a horrible monster from that world had appeared with him and the police were too busy with that creature to catch him. Just when he was ready to give up, standing atop The Brooklyn bridge to cast himself into the sea, he was found by the X-men. They explained what was happening to him, that he was a mutant. They took him to the Xavier academy and taught him how to better control his power. In the years since he has proved an invaluable member of the X-MEN team and Neil had found his new home.
Likes: The smell of smoke, Being a mutant, his fellow X-MEN, and ice cream.
Dislikes: His powers (sometimes), people who hate him, dogs (they don't like him either.), The beings in the "other world."
Quirks: Neil wholeheartedly accepts being a mutant, all animals seem to hate him, and he is never found without some kind of music playing device.

The mutation
Powers:
The other world- Neil's ability is to act as a kind of doorway to an alternate dimension of fire, toxic chemicals, and horrible monsters. He can teleport himself, others, and objects in and out of this place. Taking a person to the "other world requires physical contact, but bringing them back is as simple as thinking it. Unfortunately this applies to everything in that dimension, he can call forth horrible monsters just by thinking about them. He can also summon the flames and toxic fumes for attack purposes. Time doesn't seem to apply in the other world, when he leaves this dimension and goes there, upon his return he finds no time has passed. Luckily this power seems to come with a few other perks, such as being immune to fire and most toxic chemicals.

Weaknesses: His power can often call forth monsters, while the weaker ones can be controlled by him now, the stronger ones have free will of their own, and most hate him for his intruding upon their world. If he spends too much time in the other world, they will find him, and likely kill him. It is rumored that there is one in the other world who is terrifyingly powerful.

The Mutation
Powers: Kinetic Energy Absorption - The ability to absorb kinetic energy and convert it into raw physical power. Edison's mutation is the ability to absorb energy from the damage he's taken, and redirect it twice as hard at his opponent, effectively making him stronger with each hit.
Weaknesses: - Edison's mutation does not grant him invincibility, and he does take damage from his opponents.
- Edison's mutation doesn't provide any ranged utility.
- Edison misunderstands his mutation, somewhat, and his perception of being invincible often leads him to take stupid, often unnecessary, risks.

In depth
Personality: Before her apparent death, she was one who always enjoyed playing the cheeky and mischievous but wise mystic. Enjoy the idea of smoke and mirrors which she use for both humour and intimidation. To friends she was humorous, cheeky, loyal and protective and to enemies sarcastic and cruel but not without mercy and a want to see people see the light or show their good side. She seen with mixed feeling in the world, some fear her mental powers others see her as hero. She was also know as a trend setter in her fame, with some young girls copying her mystical modern gothic style which became quite the fashion.
Right now she is considered passed on and is hopefully missed among her x men friends and partner( anyone interested being her boy/girlfriend before her passing, really like to do a mask of the phatasm like storyline?) She now in hiding is bitter and depressed, disillusioned from her xmen beliefs and hating and is vengeful against humans. She has poor self image due to her scars and the events of her "passing" left her with a form of ptsd. She is uncertain of her path now, feeling that everything she grew up with was a lie.
Bio: Born Quebec canadian joining the Xaviers school in her early teens and was a loyal believer in the xmen manifesto. She was on assignment trying to protect some mutants against anti mutant protests but was overwhelmed and thought to be dead among other mutants. Her body was never recovered. WIP

The mutation
Powers: She is a telekinetic and telepath specialising in illusionary based powers which she used to give herself a mystical air and to confuse enemies. Recently she uses it change her appearance to something more presentable as recent events left her scared, at least in her eyes. Otherwise she capable with telekinetic contract, enjoying to fight with dual energy swords, force fields, mind reading and all other powers you might expect.
Weaknesses: Her powers are labour intensive and she cant do too many things as once and being she is constantly uses her powers to alter her appearance she can get quickly tired. Her illusionary powers as well are powerful depended on the gullibility of her target and the strength of the mind. A strong enough mind can dispel the illusion or fight despite them. She is also not as powerful as she once was with recent events leaving her scared mental as well as physically. Suffering with some PTSD which can essentially leave her powerless when strikes.

Personality
Cairo is somewhat of an open book, at least that what he wants others to see. He is compassionate but blunt, and since he is a black gay mutant he has become a very opinionated person. Cairo has a sort of charm that brings people in, because of this his blunt, and sometimes rude, comments are either ignored or written off as jokes. Cairo only recently joined the X- loves men but he enjoys his time with them; although Cairo does not like the idea of putting his life on the line but doing it for others usually disrupts these selfish thoughts.

Bio
At a young age, Cairo's mutation showed itself in the form of his leg strength, ability to dig, and an unnatural ability to blend in and hide. His parents never really thought of it as anything major until he started playing soccer. Being a natural at defender and striker, his ability to send the ball flying was incredible for an 8-year-old child but strange. The young boy could even keep up with the older kids without getting winded or breaking a sweat. Cairo's parents just thought it was their child being naturally athletic but they did feel that they should teach him some type of restraint since he could kick someone hard enough to cause a hairline fracture. They entered him into Taekwondo hoping that the master could give him private lessons and teach him how to restrain himself. It worked for a while until Cairo was in a car crash with his friends, everyone was seriously injured except Cairo he had sensed danger and subconsciously created crystal bubble around himself. Looking around seeing what happened Cairo felt like it was his fault so he ran home afraid of being persecuted. He had seen how mutants were attacked and vilified on tv, he was afraid of what he was. Cairo's parents finally returned home after receiving a call about what happened they immediately comforted him although he had just sprouted a tail and ears. For a few years, they could keep his X-gene hidden but over the years he started to become more confident in who he was leading him to want to join the X-Men.

Quirks
Cairo can be seen playing with his hair and his ears constantly. During his down time, he can be found either dancing, live streaming his gaming exploits, or writing stories and poems.

The mutation
Powers
Lagomorph Physiology - Cairo mutation has given the ability and attributes of a lagomorph, which are rabbits, hares, and pikas. He has rabbit ears at the very top of his head that grant him enhanced hearing, along with said ability he also has enhanced dexterity, agility, bite, smell, speed, and leg strength. Being a lagomorph he can dig just like they can and he has prey instincts which help analyze his enemies and 'guides' him to safer destinations if he needs to run.
Crystal Manipulation - The other part of his mutation gave him the ability to produce and manipulate crystals in all shapes and size. His degree of control is not completely refined but he makes up for his raw power with his ingenuity.

Weaknesses
Cairo is very unforgiving and petty. Dogs, cats, birds of prey, and wolves all try to eat him constantly and because of his enhanced hearing loud sounds affect him worse than others and sound based attacks can nearly incapacitate him if he isn't diligent.
