You have a wild spirit, Jim. You are able to sense the unseen, you are loyal, protective of your family and of your kids. Wild and beautiful, just like the wolf you are. You had once been hunted and captured. But even in captivity, I could see in your eyes, the longing to run free. Be yourself. Not to be forced to be a lion, while you actually are a wolf.
We didn't really have an easy start, hm? We argued like two old guys playing cards, we almost killed or at least shot eachother quite a couple of times and god how you annoyed me. But despite all the times i would have loved to stoush you, there's no one I trust more than you, Jimbo. I know I can always count on you, and when I'm driving insane again, you are there to save me from myself. Together we can even take down an airport full of zombies and a mad casino owner- and two crazy, ring-eating chicks. Man, I'm happy to be your baby-brother and I'll never forget all the crazy crap we did together. Thank you bro, for all those great memories, for always being there, for being my big idiot, brother and best friend. You were the first person I ever called my friend and still are not only my big brother, but also my best friend, my favorite part of me and someone I'll always look up to - and not only while looking at you, dude! My dear sister-in-law over there surely has to be really patient sometimes- I know what I'm talking about- after all you're our favorite idiot. But hey, I'm an idiot, too, and together we're the perfect recipe for chaos. And that's exactly how i love you bro. My crazy, idiotic, cool, brave and amazing big brother and best friend. I'm proud of you man.
Infancy (from age 0 to age 3):
Born as the first son of James and Jennifer Davis, Jim Dean Davis' future was already set: He should join the army, just as his parents, and fight for the country. He should learn how to fight and what discipline was, already beginning at a young age. But his parents never meant to use any kind of force - they weren't monsters.
Jim was a quick learner. He could speak at the age of 6 months and walk as he was 8 months old. Everything seemed for him to turn out just well, but it all changed in the night where his father's demon took over. His few weeks old sister got left behind in the woods, and his mother got killed by his father, leaving the three-year-old alone with a demon. His father had already left behind bruises on the boy before, but Jim had never thought it could get even worse.
Childhood (from age 4 to age 12):
The everyday-physical-and-mental-abuse brought Jim to believe that there was no such thing as beauty and love in the world. Even as a 4-year-old, he got in fights with older kids, he knew how to handle a gun and how to throw knives. Childhood? Jim didn't even know that word. At school, he was the loner. The bullies didn't help in him feeling better. While his father didn't care buying food for the young boy, Jim had to go out and get some himself - stealing was the only option. He was six years old when he first got caught while stealing food from the supermarket, making him spend a night at the police station because his father didn't bother on picking him up. There he met 6-year-old Eddie Parker, who at that moment was at the police station because his parents had died in a car accident. They both got on pretty well, and it didn't take a long time before they were friends. Eddie was adopted by a military officer, who also knew Jim's father, and James seemed to be pretty amazed at what the small Eddie was capable of. Jim was forced to train even harder so James could brag about what his seven-year-old already could do. Handling a gun? No problem for James' son. Kicking in a door? No problem either. Throwing a knife at a target 500feet away? No problem as well. Staying underwater for two minutes? He could do it. Jim thought it was normal for an eight-year-old to train hours every day and being mistreated at the worst level possible. His father had a big fantasy if it came down to punish his son for not listening. There was the tiny, metal room in the cellar, which James filled with water, not taking his son out before he had almost drowned. Sissy, worthless piece of crap, idiot, 'it', loser, weak one, etc. were just a few of the names James used to call Jim. But Jim always followed his father's orders, just in the hope to ever hear a 'Good job, son'.
At the age of 10, Jim had either spent most of his time at the police station or at home training. The police however didn't accuse his father for all the bruises and everything the boy did, because what major would treat his son like that? They believed Jim was nothing but a troublemaker, and that it was nothing but stupidity; getting into fights and stealing stuff.
At the age of 12, Jim knew more about cars than any local mechanic. Cars Jim 'found' on the street were upgraded and fixed and sold for about half their worth to people the police didn't like very much.
As he came home the day of his 13th birthday, his father told him that he had had a small affair with his secretary, and that Jim was a big brother now.
Adolescence (from age 13 to age 20):
After the sudden, mysterious death of Jack's mother, Jack went to live with his father and brother. James had only accepted to take care of that 'thing' in hope to have a better son than Jim. The often drunk and aggressive man often almost hit the baby, but Jim always jumped in front of the baby, protecting his little brother. That's how he got his scar on his eyebrow: his father once wanted to hit Jack with a brick, but the protective 13-year-old jumped in front of him and woke up in the hospital with stitches and a black eye.
Between all the time spent at police stations and in the training room, Jim was building his own car to participate in the illegal - good paid - streetraces. He built all the parts for his Ford Mustang on his own, and as it was finally finished he won every race he participated in. Some drugdealers gave Jim the opportunity to become one himself, being able to gain even more money. They assured him the police wouldn't be able to catch him if he kept driving like that - so Jim dived into the dark side of the streets. The others called Jim "Devil's Shadow", because Jim moved like a shadow, nobody being able to ever get near him but him being able to get near anybody, and devil because Jim was merciless. If somebody didn't pay - he took out his gun and shot. If someone tried to steal from him - another body. Jim quite liked the fact that dangerous, grown-up men were afraid of a 13-year-old, at that time quite short, boy with depressions and self-harm-issues.
A few days before his 14th birthday, Jim got caught by the police while dealing, and he spent another day at the police station. He had actually needed to go to either a youth prison or a psychiatry (because of his mental issues) - but his father paid the police officers, and Jim only got another charge on his - already pretty long - criminal record. His father of course wasn't pleased that his son was dealing and taking drugs, and neither was he happy about Jim being a streetracer. After Jim had been physically punished with kicks and more - not to mention the hammer - James also wrecked Jim's car.
Jim finally had enough of his miserable life and wanted to commit suicide. He called his best friend, said goodbye, and made his way to the nearest railroad crossing. Just as the train arrived, Jim saw his friend Eddie arrive - and as Jim woke up in hospital with nothing but a broken arm, he was told Eddie had saved Jim from committing suicide - by giving his own life.
James' punishments and physical abuse just got worse over time, just as Jim's depressions and guilt-feelings. He blamed himself for the death of his friend, and swore to never let anybody in anymore. He expanded his illegal actions, going from minor to major: dealing, murdering, breaking in houses, robbing banks, hacking, manslaughter...
As he was 15, he had completely rebuilt his car, was streetracing again and the leader of the Wolves - a wanted, criminal gang. Whenever he had some free time and wasn't on the police station at that moment, he practiced his guitar or spent some time with Rose, an old lady who gave Jim something to eat - as his father still didn't bother in buying him food. His father had also given him another scar, just above his nose, as he hit his son with his guitar - punishing Jim for always jumping in front of Jack.
He was 17 when his father took him out of school to join the Special Forces - aka the army, meaning Jim never finished school. He was a talented pilot, sharing a plane with his older cousin, Dennis Davis - the son of John Davis, who had died a few months earlier of cancer, and had always been nice to Jim - as his navigator. Dennis died only a few months later. Jim turned even colder, not even trying anymore to be nice. His father took Jim out of the Air Force and forced him to join the Navy SEALs. Finishing first in his class, Jim was only 18 years and 4 months old when his father made him commander of an entire unit. In total, Jim and his unit went on 329 missions, only failing one of them - costing the death of all his soldiers, and almost cost Jim his hand (his father wanted to 'cut' it off as punishment). During that time, Jim had also been captured by the Taliban, held hostage for entire three months, but escaped on his own, also helping escape in total 200 other hostages.
At the age of 20, his father was leader of HACK and forced Jim to join too. As the lead-hunter, Jim captured thousands of anoms, resulting in him growing even colder towards other people. From the outside, everybody thought he was a merciless killer, while on the inside the guilt was killing him. Especially the death of a 10-year-old-boy (who later turned out to still be alive) made Jim feel even worse about himself than he already did. As his little 8-year-old brother, Jack, got caught, because he turned out to be an anom, Jim tried everything so his father would let the young one go. And so it resulted in Jim making an android out of an 18-year-old boy. That boy later turned out to be Macon Gale, Jim’s half-brother. At that time however, he had no idea who that guy was, and he only did what ordered to save his little brother…who got executed anyway.
What nobody knew was that James had discovered that Jim was an anom as well – he didn’t kill him however. Instead, he attached some kind of metal device to them, making it hardly possible for Jim to shift his wings onto his back. The metal device didn’t only hurt Jim every time he shifted his wings onto his back, but it was also able to be activated from the distance, making Jim’s BPD cells take over and transform him into some sort of clone of James – which James enjoyed doing a lot. Good for Jim that James lost the device to activate, but because of it the BPD-side of Jim was stronger and able to take Jim over.
Finding out he didn’t just have shadow wings but was also a wolf-shifter, Jim decided to run away from HACK. His escape involved a lot of shooting and running and all that stuff, and he was immediately seen as traitor. Knowing what horrible things HACK did to the anoms, he decided to go out and find them, join them, protect them.
