Species:

• Vampire: Vampires have been around for thousands of years, and can come from many races, though they seem to favor humans. Those turned to vampires cannot go out into the sun without being well-covered, or they will burn up and die. They also must subsist on the blood of what they once were – so a shift has to feed from shifters. Their hunger is visible in their eyes, a fact of all vampires, though the starting color can change, red is always the dangerous hue. Vampires will not die of old age, and they cease visibly aging at the age on which they were changed. Vampires have noble houses, such as Adalas, which tend to have similarities – like illusion magic.

• Shifter: Shifters are a race of creatures that can transition between a humanoid forms, to that of the creature they are connected to. Many of them have longer lives than humans, though this varies by the kind of shifter they are. The Phoenix-Shifter typically lives 3 times longer than the average human…ignoring the fact they can be reborn indefinitely. Shifters tend to be rather isolated to small clans, the Phoenix Shifters having only 4 clans that all make homes on mountain ranges.

• Phoenix: The phoenix is a bird of fire known for its healing properties, and ability to be reborn when it dies. They are thus notoriously hard to keep dead.

• Human: Humans are the same as ever – with an average lifespan of around 80-100 years, however in the world where Damia and Malachi come from, plenty of them can learn magic.
