Anyway I'll cut to the chase: I was thinking about making a sort of supernatural detectives roleplay (like a sort of cross between scooby do and supernatural) and I don't know where I would put an interest check for something like that. So: where would I put an interest check for something like that?

You can put that whereever you believe it fits best! Which I would say either Fantasy or Realistic/Modern sections.
