[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] Theo watched as Poppy looked down at her phone, hiding it away from her husband. He noticed the confusion that painted her face. She looked up with a look of innocence, only to look directly at him. She had been just as, if not more, surprised as he had been to see him. Theo couldn't help but smirk at her. He held himself back from waving. She was in complete shock, until her husband leaned over to talk to her. Soon after she spoke with him, she was headed directly towards him. Oh, that filled him with a bit of satisfaction. The fact that she had to immediately come over to him as soon as they locked eyes. She walked as fast as she could.

Theo couldn't help but be in awe of the way she looked. That dress was...wow. He was definitely glad he got to see her tonight. Poppy stopped just at beside one of the tables he was standing beside. She was close enough for them to talk. At her question his eyebrows raised, he pointed towards his chest in confusion. "Me?" He questioned. He then gestured to his outfit. "Working," He told her, he could have said duh, but that seemed to harsh. "Damn. I am so glad I got called in. You look," Theo brought his fingers to his lips, giving a chef's kiss to end his sentence. He made sure to keep his voice down so that others wouldn't overhear what he was saying.

He looked back over to where Mr. Walsh was standing. He was way too engrossed in his conversation to pay any mind their conversation. Theo knew he was an idiot before, but this guy was a complete imbecile. He could tell he had barely paid attention to his smoking hot wife. If it were him, he wouldn't have been able to take his eyes off her. Actually, if it was him, they never would have made it to the party. They'd be too busy back at home. "So...you bored? You looked like you were about to fall asleep," He teased. In all reality, they really shouldn't be talking to each other. It was a bad idea. But Theo loved bad ideas. He loved to push limits. So even if it was a terrible idea, Theo loved it.

poppy walsh.
Poppy knew the answer to the question she asked Theo before he said it, and at his compliment, she really wanted to smile, laugh, probably steal away somewhere nobody would find him, but at the moment, she was a little paranoid. All she could think of was her husband coming over and putting two and two together, even though there was literally no evidence of the two of them having met before.

"Stop trying to rile me up," she told Theo with a warning tone, though the seriousness of her words was masked by her mild state of nervousness. She looked over her shoulder briefly to see Oscar still deep in conversation. Poppy had downed what remained of her champagne but fortunately, a server passed by at that exact moment so Poppy hastily stopped him, set her empty glass on his tray, and took two more from it. Both were for her, of course. She'd need alcohol to get through this night with as little paranoia as possible because she never actually expected to be in a situation where she'd be in the same room as her husband and the guy she was cheating on him with.

She downed half of one of the glasses before looking back to Theo. Why did he have to look so damn cute in that apron?

"Extremely," she said with a dry chuckle that didn't really hold any humour. Mainly because this whole scene wasn't really her thing. She didn't enjoy anything except for the dressing up part. And the food, especially now that she knew that House of Seoul was catering.

"I came to help my husband schmooze clients but I don't actually play any part in it. Helps to have a pretty wife, I suppose," she added on with a mild smirk, feeling herself relax a little as she spoke to Theo. It was just so easy for her to forget her surroundings when she was around him, and she hadn't yet determined if that was a good or bad thing.

"What about you?" She asked, glancing around. "Enjoying yourself?" He was on the clock so he was probably busy with work but there was nothing holding him back from taking advantage of the fancy setting.

[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] Theo watched Poppy closely. She seemed a tad nervous while standing in front of him. Well, that made sense. In fact, why wasn't he nervous? He could loose all that him and Poppy had together. Which, to be honest, was a pretty great arrangement. He didn't feel uneasy. No. There was something else settling in the pit of stomach. Something egging him on to keep things up. Something that made him want to take a huge risk. Of course, if Poppy wanted to play things safe he couldn't blame her. Getting caught would be way worse for her than it was for him. He'd only loose out on sex with Poppy. Which was a big minus, but she could ruin her relationship and damage her husband's reputation. Did Theo care about the businessman in his fancy suit who neglected his wife? Mmm. Not particularly. Theo would like to see the destroyed look on his face if he ever found out that he gave it to her better than Mr. Vanilla ever could. Oh that would be priceless.

His eyebrows lifted as he watched Poppy down her glass of champagne after telling him to quit. He smirked slightly, trying to control himself. Theo couldn't help it. How could he? She looked like a goddess. When she grabbed two more glasses, oh he had to say something. "Thirsty?" His tone low and sultry, implying that she had a taste for more than just alcohol. Reel it in Theo. Reel it in. He did one more glance over to the idiot to make sure he was still occupied. Yup. Great.

Then Poppy said something that made Theo's eyebrow twitch slightly. He chewed at the inside of his cheek for a moment. He could feel the small ember of anger begin to burn inside of him. The fact she was being paraded around for his co-workers to ogle at wasn't right. Poppy wasn't some trophy to put up on the shelf to brag about to make up for your inferiority complex. She wasn't some brainless pawn to help one get a leg up on your competition. She was gorgeous, but that wasn't her only trait. She was smart, hardworking, and had this spunky, spontaneous nature that he absolutely....... uh.... enjoyed. Careful Theo. He now knew the name of the emotion he was feeling from the beginning. He was jealous. He'd never admit it; not out loud or even to himself. No. He wasn't. He couldn't be. He wouldn't let himself be jealous. This had nothing to do with that and everything to do with the fact she was just, I dunno, turning him on? That seemed like a plausible answer. She had always been good at that. It was all purely physical. Only physical.

When Poppy asked about him, he did a quick sweep of the area. "Now I am," He replied. Theo felt that unnamed feeling edge him ever forward, test to see how far Poppy would let him go before she shut him down. "But I think I know exactly the way to make things even more interesting," He added with a flirtatious overtone. They'd have to be the most creative they've ever been, finding a good excuse to be gone for an extended period of time. It would be a huge risk, but the bigger the bet, the bigger to pot prize right? But before she could say anything, he heard his name being asked for. Right. He was still on the clock and dinner was close to starting so things were about to get busy. Looking over at the kitchen and then back at Poppy, Theo took a few steps forward. He stopped so that their shoulders were almost touching, so that they stood side-by-side. Turning his head slightly to the side to be as close to her ear as he could without looking suspicious, He spoke, "Text me when you get bored. I can make things a bit more exciting for you."

With the ball lying in Poppy's court, Theo walked off back towards the kitchen. He'd be carefully making a plan of action while she made up her mind. Theo knew it wouldn't take Poppy long to text him. Because she was just as desperate for him as he was for her.

Poppy eyed Theo curiously when he asked if she was thirsty, mainly because she knew that tone all too well and she quickly understood what he was implying. The thing was that he wasn't wrong of course. When it came to Theo and spending time with him the way that they did, Poppy couldn't really stay away, even if she was in a gala full of important people and her husband.

Truthfully, he probably wouldn't even notice her absence for very long, till he needed her by his side to meet another client. For the time being though, Poppy decided to try and play the part of the devoted wife who was helping her husband. Maybe things would change for them if he noticed she was helping? Part of Poppy knew that was unlikely but she wanted to believe it, for the sake of their marriage. Ten years couldn't have been for nothing, but she also couldn't help but feel like he never made her feel the way Theo made her feel.

Poppy knocked the thought out of her head as soon as it came, telling herself mentally that this was only physical and nothing else. She already poked her head into his personal life. She was not going to jeopardise this arrangement by letting feelings get involved.

Theo had to leave, but he told her to text him if she got bored, and she didn't really get a chance to reply to him because he was off. Poppy sighed and downed the rest of her champagne before joining Oscar's side again. They continued to make their way around the room, introducing themselves to new people and trying to be downright charming. Poppy's thoughts remained on Theo, which was why she mostly just smiled and waved.

Eventually though, she decided that she couldn't handle this anymore. This wasn't how she wanted to spend the night, especially since she knew that Theo was around with an offer on the table. Poppy wasted no time texting him about half an hour after they last met, asking him if he could free himself for a while. When he told her to stay put, she furrowed her eyebrows, curious as to what he had in mind since he also asked if she had good dry cleaners?

Regardless, Poppy did as told, trusting that whatever he had in mind was a good idea. She was with Oscar and two other gentlemen at one of the tables, though her food was mostly untouched since she was hungry for something else at the moment. Her gaze wandered the room, feeling like Theo may creep up on her at any second, though she wondered how it would all be pulled off.

[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] The chef had been so right. It didn't take Poppy long to text him at all. That made Theo feel victorious. He was obviously her choice and that pumped his head full of hot air. Suck it husband. This also made his stressful job so much more worthwhile and the rest of his night bearable, if not enjoyable. Theo had been trying to come up with something. Some scheme to get Poppy to an unsuspicious private location and him out of the kitchen for an extended period of time. There was this one idea floating around in his head. It might work, but he'd kinda feel bad about it. Just slightly, not enough to convince him not to do it.

Theo's grand plan? Make a few special stops to make sure everything was okay and making sure to make a mess while doing it. If he dumped a plate all over Poppy she'd have to clean up. And Theo could help. He'd have to make up for the "accident" anyways. If he ruined her dress he could always buy her a new one. Another excuse to go shopping would be nice. He tried for a bit longer to decide the absolute best plan, and that seemed like the only good one.

Theo ordered one of the chefs to set aside meals from certain tables, making sure to ask specifically for Poppy's table. He had about four plates at four seemingly random tables that he'd drop by and ask the usual questions. After about 15 minutes he was down to his last plate, the one he had picked for a special purpose. Making his way over to where she sat, coming up behind her, Theo smiled at the group. "How are you folks doing tonight? Everything good?" He asked happily, keeping his good host personality on. All of them nodded or said a pleasant thanks. "Ahh, that's great! As head chef that makes me really happy," His voice peppy and cheerful. Normally the snobs liked a kissup. And the loved feeling special. If he said he was head chef that drove them crazy, thinking they had hit the big bucks to have him come out and say hello. "And this belongs to..?" He added, gesturing to the plate. Luckily enough it was the gentleman sitting directly next to Poppy. He couldn't have planned it any better.

Going to place the dish on the table, Theo made sure to tip it just a little to far in Poppy's directions. He watched as the food slipped right off the plate. Landing directly in her lap. Nice shot. Immediately he reacted. "Oh, I am so incredibly sorry!" He told her, looking down at the mess he just made then back up to make eye contact, trying so hard to keep himself from breaking.

Poppy was patiently waiting. Okay, not so patiently, but she had to appear patient, because Oscar couldn't look over and think that something was up with her. The way she bounced her leg underneath the table was a big enough sign, but Oscar wouldn't be able to tell because he didn't have a hand on her thigh. That was one habit he used to have when they were in the initial stages of their relationship though all that seemed to fade away with time.

She might have ignored whoever came over to serve the food if the voice hadn't been so darn familiar. Now, not only was she seeing him in the same place as her husband, but she was interacting with him too? Her heart leapt into her throat and she turned with a start as Theo stood close by, a plate of food in his hands. His questions were answered by Oscar and the guy he was speaking to, though they were quick to return to their conversation, barely noticing the way Poppy looked at Theo.

She had no idea what he was playing at but it soon became pretty apparent. When he set the plate down, some of it fell onto her lap, staining her dress, and she sat back with a start, getting up so it didn't remain on her clothes for any longer. Poppy wasn't so bothered by the stain of course, she just hadn't seen it coming. Now though, it made sense. He more or less gave her an excuse to be away from the table for a while without Oscar suspecting a thing.

"You alright?" Her husband asked, looking in her direction. Well, at least he noticed.

Poppy nodded and looked to Theo. "It's alright," she said, speaking to both of them despite her gaze being fixed onto the chef. "Just excuse me for a moment," Poppy told Oscar with a polite smile, nodding to his company as well. "I'm going to go clean this up before it has time to settle in." The longer it stayed, the harder it would be to remove the stain so, with one glance in Theo's direction, and after getting a nod of understanding from Oscar, Poppy made her way to the ladies room where she had no doubt she would soon be joined by Theo.

[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] Poppy picked up exactly what was happening, even if she had been very surprised at first. Theo watched her walk off, he gave a sheepish smile to the rest of the remaining guests at the table. "I'm going to go grab someone to help clean up," He told them shortly. With that he walked off in the general direction that Poppy went, but not following after her. He grabbed one of the wait staff and directed them to the mess, politely of course. Once that was out of the way he checked to make sure Mr. Walsh wasn't looking before heading over to where the bathrooms were.

Theo did one more double take before opening the ladies room door and poking his head in. Once he saw Poppy standing at the sink he stepped in the rest of the way, shutting and locking the door behind him. He had been pleasantly surprised to find it was one of those single toilet situations, so no one else would just walk in. "Is it gonna wash out?" He spoke with a smug expression. He didn't exactly care if the stain washed out of her dress. It was in the way at this point.

Pulling her into him, Theo reached up, cupping her face with one hand while looking down into her eyes. A playful smile rested on his lips. "How ever will I make it up to you?" He pondered, he kept his voice low. Knowing they had very limited time he didn't waste any more of it talking. It wasn't hard to kiss Poppy with passion. The thrill that her husband was just outside the door made everything just that much more exciting. That feeling, the one that shall not be named, had now faded. Theo knew full well who she preferred giving him a new satisfaction he forgot exisited. Should he be happy about that? Should he feel that pride and relief that came along knowing he had that much of a hold on Poppy? The answer was no. He really shouldn't, so he just ignored it. If he didn't acknowledge it, just like everything else, it wasn't happening.

Breath heavy and sweat in his brow, Theo was just starting to come down. He hadn't even begun to gather his things when he heard a knock at the door. He jumped slightly, looking over at the source of the noise to only hear a man's voice come from the other side. "Poppy? Is everything alright in there babe?" Theo's eyebrow a furrowed in confusion. Who the hell... Wait. Oh... Oh! Oh shit. His eyes widened, trying to keep himself from panicking. Theo tried his best to say calm as he looked back over at Poppy, gesturing with his eyes towards the door. He felt that he couldn't make a sound. His breath was halted. There were a millions ways for this to go, and the majority of them were bad.

As suspected, it didn't take very long for Theo to join her in the bathroom. It was fortunately a single stall, which meant the main door could be locked, and they wouldn't have to worry about any major interruptions. Theo had set herself up to have a pretty decent excuse for why she was hogging up the place, and ultimately when she walked back out with the stain still on her dress, she could just say it didn't come off, no matter how hard she tried.

"Probably not but that doesn't matter right now," Poppy told Theo with a smirk as he closed the distance between them once the door was locked, ensuring that nobody else would wander in. "I could think of a few ways you could make it up to me," she added, leaning in to press her lips to his since that needed no more elaboration. He knew exactly what she meant.

Poppy was probably even worse of a person to be doing this when her husband was in the room outside. Part of her was insisting on facing the facts โ€” that things with Oscar just weren't goo anymore. But what after that? Separation? A divorce? Poppy didn't think she could thrive by being alone. She just... wasn't used to it since she'd been with Oscar since they were in high school and Theo... well, the rules to their agreement were clear. This was nothing more than a physical relationship, and she couldn't let herself believe anything otherwise.

She didn't want to ruin this time with those thoughts though, so she allowed herself to just indulge in Theo for the time being. They had just about finished when she heard a knock at the door. Her decision was to ignore it since it was likely some lady who wanted to use the bathroom. However, when she heard Oscar's voice on the other end, she froze. She wasn't even fully ready yet, her hair was a bit of a mess, and she hadn't even attempted to clean out her dress.

But worse than that, this was a single stall and there wasn't much place for her to hide Theo in there if Oscar decided to wait for her outside instead of returning to his clients.

Poppy shared a look with Theo for a moment before looking to the door. "Everything's fine! I'll be out in a minute." She heard some murmur of agreement from him but didn't hear any receding footsteps. Fuck.

Straightening her dress and adjusting her hair quickly, Poppy turned to Theo. "Stay in here," she told him in a whisper. The last thing they needed was for Oscar to find out about this at a very public place. Theo could just walk out after waiting a few minutes, provided that nobody else was around. Oh God this was a tricky situation.

Regardless, Poppy tried to compose herself and made sure that Theo wasn't anywhere near the door before she opened and stepped out, closing the door behind her almost immediately so Oscar didn't even have time to register that she'd come out at all.

[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] Theo's heart was racing. All the talk of it not being a big deal if they got found out was thrown out the window as soon as it was a possibility. Questions flew in his mind. Would her husband actually hit him? Would he cause a giant scene in the middle of this very public place? Would this affect his job? At this moment he wasn't exactly doing what he was supposed to be doing. Not in the slightest. But the most terrifying question? The one that made his stomach sick and his palms sweaty. The question of whether or not he could ever see Poppy again. If her husband found out, would everything be over? Not only did he not want that to happen, but the fact he was so panicked about it made him worry. That feeling had meaning. The fact he was so anxious about loosing his supposedly meaningless relationship with Poppy was concerning.

He nodded slowly at her as she told him to stay here. He was barely dressed, if anyone saw him they could easily assume what had happened. Theo backed up against the wall and kept as silent as possible. He watched Poppy carfuly as she got presentable before she opened the door and walked out. He held his breath, listening to the sound of them talking. He couldn't make out any conversation, but he hoped that it wasn't anything to be nervous about. He waited for the talking to quiet and the sounds of footsteps to fade. Theo slowly let out the breath he didn't know he was holding and locked the door again.

Turning around, he looked at himself in the mirror. He started the water and splashed it on his face. Dragging his hands down his cheeks, he groaned slightly. Get it together. After messing with his hair and patting his face dry, Theo felt he looked presentable enough to go out. Did he looked as stressed as he felt? Hopefully not. In all honesty, his nerves were shot. He felt even more conflicted than he did before. It was getting harder and harder to just push down those little thoughts that popped into his head. The ones that stressed over Poppy.

Stepping out into the hallway for the bathrooms and heading back to the kitchen, he still felt that nervousness inside him. Had he waited long enough? Was it painfully obvious what was going on? If Poppy was asked questions, would she be able to keep her cool? He asked questions he knew he shouldn't. Ones that he really shouldn't ask. Theo couldn't stop them as they zoomed in one after the other. Then when he walked into the kitchen, he was bombarded with a lot of questions, comments, and concerns as soon as people saw him. He wasn't gone all that long. Totally completely overwhelmed, he felt like he might shut down at any moment. As four people were trying to talk to him at once, he just couldn't handle it anymore. "Would you all just shut up? One at a time. You should have learned this in preschool. Wait your turn," He snapped at the group. Which got him the result he wanted, but gained a couple odd looks as well.

Theo knew he'd have to talk to Poppy before the night was over. There was a part of him that thought they should stop here. There was another voice that told him he just needed to step back. Then the loudest voice that told him to ignore the other two because nothing was wrong, that he was fine, and nothing has changed between him and Poppy. The motive behind that last voice was what made him the most disturbed. Because he knew he'd listen to it no matter how much of a bad idea it was.

Poppy's heart was still beating a mile a minute despite having left the bathroom and walked back to their table with her husband. He didn't seem to pick up on anything but she was suddenly very conscious of everything. Was her hair okay? Had her makeup been messed up? Was the zipper on the back of her dress all the way up? Several questions ran through her mind and she had to calm herself and remind herself that everything was okay now. She was out, and Theo had probably left the bathroom without a hitch too because by the time she looked back in that direction, she saw other women walking over, and Poppy didn't hear any loud, angry voices that suggested that they found a half dressed guy inside. Thankfully.

The rest of the night didn't go alone as smoothly as it began. Maybe she shouldn't have risked it by trying to hook up at a gala where her husband also was, but Poppy hadn't been able to keep herself from being tempted by Theo, and it wasn't like he had any protests. Well, except maybe till they almost got caught. Poppy was now worried for other reasons โ€” not that her husband was at risk of finding out about her affair, but about the fact that Theo might not want to do this anymore after that close call.

As much as Poppy reminded herself that this was purely physical, she couldn't fathom the idea of not seeing Theo again. She knew it was wise to probably give this up before it went too far, but she was selfish. She didn't want it to end. She just wasn't sure what Theo was feeling at the moment.

As the night came to an end, she knew she needed to meet with Theo once before leaving, to see if all was okay with him. She managed to excuse herself from Oscar's presence for a few minutes as people began to say their goodbyes since they were all heading off. Poppy still noticed some kitchen staff so she assumed Theo was still around and made her way toward where they all seemed to be going. She hoped nobody from his work place was around to recognise her as the 'critic' that came to the restaurant. At this point though, she didn't care. She was more focused on trying to find Theo.

For good measure, and to make sure she didn't miss him, she sent a quick text to inform him of her location: I'm by the kitchen.

[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] The kitchen had been fairly busy, but so had Theo's mind. It ran circles. He fought with himself for what seemed like forever. There was the side that told him to back out now, before any real damage was done, and he got his feelings involved. There was the Theo that was pained and afraid. So scared to let someone in that it would give up just about anything to avoid the smallest possiblity. The opposing side was the one that told him he should keep going. That everything was exactly like it had started and it was only because of the adrenaline started pumping after almost getting caught. That side wasn't afraid of anything. Well, not exactly. It had one fear. Loosing Poppy.

Theo deliberated to himself, going back and forth, considering his options. When things slowed and they started cleaning up, he felt that he had come to a decision. He wanted to end things with Poppy. With his obvious feelings of jealousy, the fact they had discussed his personal life, and Poppy had only become more possessive and defensive of him, it seemed that ending it was the best thing to do. The fear of something becoming more that what they had agreed soon was too great. This whole thing could be a fun experience, and they could leave it at that. Theo felt somewhat confident in his choice. That this was what he wanted. He ignored the nagging feelings he felt. The one that told him that no matter how much he tried to fool himself, that this wasn't what he wanted at all.

"Hey Theo! We'er going out for drinks. You seem like you need one man, what got into you?" The voice of his coworker caused him to look up from what he was cleaning. He paused. Was he that noticeably on edge?

"He probably needs laid too, he's too uptight," Another mentioned. He couldn't help but chuckle, shaking his head. Oh, if only they knew. But drinks out sounded nice. A good distraction. His old distraction was coming to an end, so he'd probably need a new one.

"Y-" Theo was about to agree, saying that it sounded like fun, though a buzz from his pocket brought his attention to his phone. It was Poppy, saying she was by the kitchen. Right. They had to talk. He had to tell her things were done. "I have some stuff I have to do, but I can join you after, just text me where you guys are going, ok?" He told them as he slipped his phone back into his pocket. They nodded, heading off to help load things into the truck out back. Theo made his way back out to the main area. Before even stepping out he could see Poppy. Standing there all alone, still looking just amazingly stunning as ever. Right when he saw her, he knew this was going to be harder than he had anticipated.

He stepped out, walking towards her with his hands in his pockets. Theo looked around to see if anyone was nearby to see them together. It wasn't that it mattered all that much, but he didn't want to make a scene. "Hey," His voice was gentle, he gave he a small smile. Looking into her eyes, he felt his heart begin to drop in his chest. Knowing what he wanted to do. "Look Poppy-" He began, but he stopped. He felt his once strong conviction fade. He was loosing courage fast. Loosing his clarity. Loosing his willpower to tell her things were through. As he looked at her, Theo was reminded just how alone she was. Just how neglected she felt. Just how much she needed him to make her feel wanted. How she deserved so much better than to be some blind man's trophy. And just like that he couldn't tell her. He thought that he wanted things to be over, but he knew that wasn't true. He wanted to continue to feel the rush that she gave him. He swallowed, knowing that he left his sentence unsaid. That sentence would never reach her ears. Theo knew that he could never tell her no. "Um, we just need to be more careful, you know?" He finally finished. He wondered if Poppy could tell that he had changed his mind. Now he was fully aware of just how dangerous this game was that they were playing. They were flirting with the line. That's what he told himself anyways. The truth was, Theo had crossed the line of playing with no strings whether he accepted it or not.

Poppy was a little conscious, not wanting Oscar to come search for her again, but fortunately Theo showed up pretty soon. He was smiling, which made Poppy feel the slightest bit better though she couldn't tell if it was because she liked that darn smile or because it meant that nothing was wrong. Except obviously it was, the fact that they'd almost gotten caught should have been answer enough.

But Poppy was selfish. Her selfishness got her into this, and her selfishness was keeping her in it. "Hey," she breathed out, relieved that he came quickly. His words initially caused her breath to hitch in her throat since she couldn't predict what he was going to say, but it didn't sound good. There was some hesitation in his voice, and she almost prodded him further, urging him to come out with it, when he instead told her that they needed to be careful.

Part of Poppy wanted to see if there was more to it. If there was something else on his mind. Another part of Poppy was just happy he hadn't terminated this whole arrangement, and that part was bigger than everything else because it meant that things would stay the same. That was what Poppy wanted, and if Theo wanted it too, who was she to go and mess it up.

"Uh, yeah," Poppy nodded. "It was good but it was risky," she let out a nervous chuckle and fiddled with her fingers absently. She needed to get going before Oscar showed up unannounced again. With the knowledge that this was going to keep up, instead of being stopped, Poppy felt a little better, but she couldn't drive out the feelings in her that were happier for another reason, which was simply enjoying Theo's company, whether physical or not.

"I should go before he comes looking for me again," Poppy told him with a small smile. Nobody seemed to be around and Poppy double checked before impulsively leaning forward to plant a quick kiss to Theo's cheek, as a way of saying goodbye. She did also give him a wave after she turned and began to walk away, sparing him a brief glance over her shoulder before she disappeared from view completely, and joined Oscar so they could head home.

Needless to say, Theo hadn't left her mind since then.

[div class=tag]Mood[/div] Let's go back to that night. Sounds exciting.
[div class=tag]outfit[/div] Party Time
[div class=tag]tags[/div] natasha. natasha. [/div][/div] [div class=maintext][div class=scroll] Poppy had left, after planting a kiss on his cheek. Theo felt his heart pounding in his chest and his face burned where her lips had been. It felt weird how affected he was by a simple gesture, one that wasn't unfamiliar. Yet he still felt a rush. He had decided he still needed a drink. It had been a stressful night and to unwind with a couple coworkers was exactly what he had needed. That night, while the were at a bar, a woman had approached him. Knowing full well that his fellow work mates would know something was up if he didn't indulge in flirting with her, he played along. She was really gorgeous. Totally someone he would have been interested in. Though the whole time he was talking to her, he felt off. Even when nothing happened, not even a kiss, he Theo felt wrong. Everything about it just didn't seem right. Like he was doing something he shouldn't be.

He ignored the reason why.

Since then it had been about a week. Poppy and Theo had met up once during that time. Less than usual, but that was fine. They were both busy people. Well, it was part schedule and part Theo's doing. Ever since the Gala, he had tried to take a step back because he knew he couldn't stop. He didn't want to stop. Theo just wanted to get his head on straight. His first goal was to text her less. That turned out harder than he had originally planned. Poppy would text him and he couldn't help but respond. It was like a habit. He replied on instinct.

His second goal was to see her less. He had been unsuccessful the first half of the week. It seemed she knew when he was off. Poppy had to have some sort of sensor that told her when he was available and had nothing to do. Just like it was impossible to stop himself from just chatting, it was just as impossible to turn down her offers. That was until he devised a bit of a plan, have as little free time as possible. He threw a little party with his friends, promised to help Emmett with an assignment, made up projects to do around the house, went on day trips out of town, and more. He was barley home, making his schedule too booked up to fall into the temptation that was Poppy Walsh.

Even with his efforts, here he was. Of course she asked on the one day he had failed to make plans. As soon as he saw her asking what he was doing the next day, Theo knew he was done for. What had he been telling her from the very beginning? Ah, that's right. He couldn't tell her no. Now it seemed harder and harder to used that particular word. Poppy had deleted it from his personal vocabulary. She always had to make things exciting too. Like tonight. Her idea was to go back where everything started. Back to the club where they first met. They finally were going to see exactly how everything would have gone that first night had they both gotten what they wanted.

Theo decided that he was just going to enjoy himself. He was going to ignore the fact he was trying to remove himself. He was going to forget that ever since that one particular weekend things felt weird. He was going to go back to that night, and pretend that everything had been the same since then. He had sent a text to Poppy when he was just about to get ready. He was okay with waiting. Maybe he could be a drink in before she even showed up.

Now he was sitting at the bar, a dry martini in front of him just like before, waiting around for her to show up. Like always he felt impatient. No matter how much he didn't want it to be true, he missed Poppy. He missed seeing her smile. He missed hearing her voice. He missed the rush he felt when he was with her. That heart pounding, mind numbing, tingling sensation she always seemed to give him. Just like a drug addict, Theo needed another fix. It was easy. way too easy, to get one, therefore he'd probably never kick the habit. He didn't want to anyways, and it wasn't just because the way she made his body feel. Jealous of all the action, his heart was budding in.

Just to let you know heart, that was very much so unappreciated.
-Sincerely,
Theodore Yang ๐Ÿ–ค

Since the gala, things had been a little... off. Theo and Poppy hadn't met as frequently the past week as they had before. They did once, but it was clear to Poppy that not only were they both busy, but something struck a chord within them since they almost got caught. Maybe it was the fear of it actually happening โ€” and for Poppy, the fear that it meant losing Theo, and the only excitement in her live โ€” but when the weekend rolled around, she decided to switch things up a bit and go back to a time when things had almost reached an exciting high, but she'd been a little too drunk for it to go any further.

So, Poppy texted Theo the night before asking if he was up to do some dancing and his response had her smiling, making her feel like nothing had happened to interrupt the good thing they had. That's what they needed. To get things back on track. Maybe this would do that.

The next day had flown by quickly with Poppy anticipating Theo's text to tell him when he was free so she could start getting ready. With one hour to prepare, Poppy lazed around in the shower, taking more time than necessary, before finally getting out to get ready. The dress wasn't anything extravagant or provocative, but it was perfect for a club, and the perfect length to show off her legs.

Poppy had reached the club in no time, and all the while she couldn't help but think that it was convenient that Oscar was out of town yet again. He'd made some good connections during the gala so naturally, he was busier than ever putting all of that to use for his work. It meant Poppy saw him even less, but at this point she didn't care as long as she had Theo around to keep her company. She liked his company. More than just messing around in the sheets, and the thought definitely made her more nervous.

Upon entering the club, the music filled her ears, blocking out most of her thoughts. Through the crowd, she was vaguely able to make out Theo's figure at the bar, drink in hand, and she made a beeline toward him, shuffling through the crowd of dancing bodies till she finally reached the bar counter and got onto the stool beside him. "Fancy seeing you here," she teased, looking him over before turning her attention to the bartender to order herself a shot. May as well start the night off with a bang โ€” but not so much that he'd stay away from doing what he almost did that first night they met at the club.

Sitting alone, Theo had just about polished off his first drink as he watched the crowd. It seemed like so long ago that he had just met Poppy. At the same time, it felt like it had happened just yesterday. Time seemed completely lost to that memory. He could still see her, the lonely figure at the bar. The woman that had him hooked with one glance. He could still feel his heart pound to the beat of the music. The way he had felt the most alive he had felt in a long time on the dance floor because of her. He could still remember taking her away. The intense desire he had for her so great in that moment Theo could hardly believe he had been able to pull away.

Though tonight, he could feel that all over again, but this time he didn't have to walk away. At this point, no matter what, he probably would never be able to hold himself back even if he wanted to. He had yet to convince himself that fact was a good thing. He was trying to. Trying to validate how he reacted to Poppy. To find an excuse to avoid the most obvious and terrifying answer. But until he found one, Theo would continue to push those thoughts down, bury them deep under the surface.

Just enjoy yourself. Don't worry about it.

The phrase that had become his new mantra since he agreed to meet up the day before. Soon enough Theo found a the familiar face he had been waiting for, he turned back to face the bar as soon as he saw her. He felt an immediate genuine smile take over his face, the automatic warmth and excitement that bubbled inside him. He called it lust and kept it at that. It had been a week, he was allowed to be a little anxious. He realized then how much he regretted avoiding Poppy. He should have learned by now that going this long was too long. It was frustrating. It made him impatient. Impatience making him more impulsive. As Poppy slid into the seat next to him, Theo smirked at her statement, looking her over once more. "What a coincidence," He responded with his tone taking a flirtatious turn. His ears perked up at the mention of a shot.

Oh, Theo liked shots. The man prided himself in having a high alcohol tolerance, being able to go shot for shot with guys twice his size. He was sort of aware of Poppy's tolerance. He had never been clear on how many drinks she had the night they met. She wasn't black-out drunk, just tipsy enough to be a red flag in his mind. Now he knew that she wanted him sober, so it wouldn't bother him if she wanted him tipsy. And getting buzzed sounded like a nice way to forget his worries. So, as Poppy was just finishing her sentence with the bartender, Theo piped up. "Make it four, thanks," He added, giving Poppy a mischievous grin to top it off.

"Okay, but like, A, you can't just do one shot, and B, you can't do shots alone. Plus, shots spice things up a bit," Theo made his defense. No one liked to do shots by themselves, or at least that's what he himself thought. It was shots not shot. He liked adventure, to push the envelope, to raise the stakes. He was sure Poppy was already aware of this trait. He couldn't act out of character now. It didn't take long for the bartender to return with a small tray with four shot glasses on it. Taking one, Theo held it out towards Poppy. "Cheers," He said simply. Tipping back his head and shooting the alcohol in one go, he felt that burning sensation travel down his body. It was delightful. He set the glass down on the table and let out a refreshing "ahhh" as if he had just taken a long sip of lemonade on a hot day. He was here to party and let loose, that's what he'd do, even if he had to kill his liver.

Poppy let out a small chuckle when Theo attributed this meeting to a coincidence. Sure, they could pretend that's what it was. Poppy knew what her end goal for the night was though, and that was for it to end differently than it had the last time they were here. She didn't care if they resorted to heading back to the supply closet for the nostalgia or if they just headed back to his place, since she'd already been there once.

When Theo ordered four shots, she smirked. "Someone's feeling confident," she remarked, looking him up and down since she hadn't gotten a good enough look when she first approached him. He wasn't the only one to do a little checking out after all. Poppy did it every time they met, and every time they parted.

"Okay, okay. I'll agree with that," Poppy nodded when Theo explained the need for four shots and doing it together. She certainly wasn't going to turn down the offer to do shots. It was pretty much all she consumed in her youth, and doing it now, in a club, made her feel like a reckless teenager again. Poppy loved it.

It didn't take very long for the bartender to bring their order and four little glasses sat in a row in front of them. She picked one up when Theo did and held it out to clink against his. "Cheers," she agreed, keeping her eyes on him as she tipped her head back and tossed the contents of the glass down the back of her throat. The familiar burn was strange after a long time, but not unwelcome. Poppy could already feel it getting to her head, and she loved the way it made her feel.

She didn't hesitate to pick up the next one without waiting for much longer. Poppy didn't even wait for Theo as she tipped back her next glass as well, setting it down and cringing a little as she felt the burn go down her throat, but she quickly recovered and hopped off the bar stool, immediately reaching for Theo's hand. "Finish your drink," she told him, a playful smile on her face. "I want to dance."

Theo smirked as he watched Poppy. She was quick to down both shots without hesitation. He chuckled slightly at her. "Well someone's here to party," He commented as she scrunched her nose up in disgust after her second drink. He was glad he wasn't the only one out of the pair who just wanted to have a good time. Not that he would have assumed Poppy wouldn't want that too, it was just nice that things felt normal. Just like that she was up and ready to get on the dance floor. "Ah, Petal you read my mind." At that he grabbed the last shot glass and polished it off as well as the last gulp of his martini.

He got up from the bar and grabbed a hold of her hand. He let her lead him out to the dance floor like before. As they got to the crowd of bodies, Theo pulled himself closer, a hand moving to her waist to keep from loosing her as they moved further. The club was busier than the night they first met. It just meant they had to stay that much closer to one another. Theo had absolutely no problem with that. With so many other people around, no body would bat an eye at the pair. He felt like he could get away with pretty much anything. Theo leant in close to Poppy. "Don't wear yourself out. We've got a lot more to do than just dancing," His voice loud enough for her to hear of the music. Dancing was really only part one of their night. He didn't want her to forget that. Theo was certain she wouldn't. That was all that they needed each other for anyways. Funny.

Making it out to a spot on the dance floor, Theo got a feel for the music. He started with a simple sway to the rhythm. Unlike last time, he wasted no time in bringing Poppy close. No manner hands or space between them. They were past that now. Long past that. They weren't two strangers any longer. There weren't pretenses that she was a faithful wife or that he was only interested in dancing. Rolling his body to the beat, he kept his eye locked on Poppy. His heart thundered louder than the bass coming from the speakers. Theo couldn't explain how good he felt. Tonight felt even better than before. Maybe it was the alcohol, the three drinks not exactly enough to make him feel physically drunk but it was just enough to feel his inhibition slip ever so slightly, or the fact he knew the way this would end. It was probably the first time he honestly thought to himself that everything he did with Poppy just felt right. There was no denying that. That the reason this time felt better was because of what he wanted to avoid.

But Theo couldn't stop himself this time.

He was right. Drinks would set him loose. It would let his worry go. Not in the way he had assumed. He thought he'd forget, push everything away. But in all actuality, it had let him feel what he was actually feeling. Theo felt like he wanted Poppy Walsh. Not just physically. He knew that from day one. No. He wanted to hold her, to bring her closer, to let her in. He wanted to break rules just like he had done the first time they met. Theo admitted to himself that he was falling for her and he wasn't afraid. At least not right now anyways.

Just like the first time, dancing with Theo felt almost electric. The moment they were out on the dance floor, Poppy couldn't think about anything else but him. Even the music was mostly drowned out, occasional beats only filtering through her thoughts to keep her moving along in time with the tune.

His comment about being worn out didn't go unheard, and she only responded to it with a smirk before delving right back into dancing, keeping her body close to his because she had no desire to have any distance between them.

Amid all the dancing, it definitely came to Poppy's attention that something was different this time around. The lust was definitely there, no doubt, but there was also something beyond that. Something dangerous that Poppy had been trying to push down ever since that night she spent at his place, but she hadn't been able to. Now more than ever, she felt herself giving into the emotional part of herself, the one that made it plain and clear that what she felt for Theo was no longer just physical.

Poppy just couldn't say that out loud because it would jeopardise their whole arrangement.

Maybe part of her believed that by keeping it hidden, the feelings would eventually fizzle out and they could enjoy this arrangement without any asterisks, but Poppy also had to eventually sit and think about how long she wanted this to go on for.

It started as excitement, something to satisfy her and give her what her husband couldn't. But could she live the rest of her life emotionally unhappy in a loveless marriage? Her deal with Theo was... amazing. But Poppy couldn't help but wonder how much more amazing it might be if it wasn't just a deal, and if they no longer had to hide it.

All these thoughts ran through Poppy's mind as she danced with Theo, and she could think of only one way to drown out those voices. She had to face some hard facts, but not tonight. Leaning in, Poppy brushed her lips against his ear, and spoke up loud enough for him to hear her. "I think I'm ready to move on to the next activity."

Theo felt like he was in a dazed state. He was entranced by the moment, completely bewitched by Poppy. Every moment spent with her on the dance floor, only further confirmed his revelation. Her voice was the only thing that brought him back to the moment. Her words brought a pleased smirk to his face. Just like last time neither of them could last very long. Unlike last time though, Theo hesitated slightly. He had taken absolutely zero time to think about where to take her. It was easy, there was really only one semi-private place to take her, and that was the supply closet. But was that really where he wanted to take her tonight?

It just felt too...impersonal. Sure it was always exhilarating to be in public, especially with all they had on the line if they were caught, but he didn't need that. He could be in a desert with absolutely no one around and Poppy would still give him the high that he so desperately wanted. He wanted to be alone, in private. Just the two of them. Do everything he wanted and take his good old time. Theo wanted her all to his self. So it was a no brainier. He'd just take her home.

Grabbing her hand, Theo lead her out of the club. It was dark, a bit darker than usual as rain clouds had started to form overhead. The tiniest drops of rain sprinkled quietly. It took him a few seconds to even realize that it had started to sprinkle. A small drip on his forehead caused him to look up. It wasn't enough for him to call a cab. It would honestly take them longer to get to his apartment than if they walked. An idea popped into his head. Theo looked over at Poppy with a mischievous grin. "I'll race ya," He proposed, beginning to walk backwards down the sidewalk, holding his hands behind his back. "All you gotta do is take a right at the corner and it's the second building with the big hedge statue, you can't miss it," He told her. He picked up his pace slightly, "Think you can beat me?" A little taunt would probably get her going. Poppy may be in heals, but she might just be crazy enough to take him up on his little game.

Poppy looked at Theo for a moment once she had spoken, and she knew that he had the same thing on her mind. But apparently they weren't going to finish off that night in the supply closet like they nearly had the first time they met. Poppy knew that he wasn't backing out again. He was taking her somewhere else. Presumably to his place, which she was more than okay with, so when he began to lead her through the crowd and out of the club, she happily followed behind him.

It was cold outside, and the breeze caused goosebumps to raise along the exposed parts of her arms and legs. Poppy knew it wouldn't be long before she'd be working up a sweat though so this didn't bother her in the slightest.

From the club, Poppy was able to tell which direction Theo's house was, despite having been there only once. It was the perks of having lived in one place for so long, and his house wasn't very far away to begin with. She was about to fall into step with him so they could walk there, but Theo soon let go of her hand and jogged ahead of her, turning around to walk backwards. She arched an eyebrow in curiosity before she heard his proposition.

The idea certainly sounded fun, and it brought a playful smile to her lips. "A race?" She echoed, looking down briefly at her feet. She was glad she chose today to wear boots instead of heels. The flat soles would even out the playing field and in her youth, Poppy had been pretty athletic. She was still the most active person in her household, though she didn't do a lot of running anymore unless it was on a treadmill. That didn't mean she wasn't opposed to racing someone down the street just for the fun of it.

"Alright," she smirked, picking up the pace a little when he did. "Oh I don't just think so, I know so," Poppy replied to him with a grin, breaking into a run behind him till she was eventually running alongside him. He had an advantage since his longer legs gave him larger strides, but Poppy didn't struggle too much to keep up.

When they reached the corner though, Theo decided to go rogue, and instead of finishing off the impromptu race, she leaped onto Theo for a piggyback, almost confident that he wouldn't fall over in surprise โ€” hopefully. Either way, she was in a fit of giggles because she couldn't remember the last time she'd had fun with a person this way. It was meant to be her husband, but instead it was Theo. And it further confirmed for her that she felt something more than lust for this man, and it admittedly scared her a little.

As soon as she agreed, Theo was off. He took no time at all to turn around and start running down the side walk. He looked beside his to see Poppy close by. Dang she was fast. He laughed into the night, tipping his head back slightly in glee. Oh this was fun. He always had fun with Poppy. What they did for the most part was really fun. Being tangled up with her was probably his favorite past time. Now, though, it wasn't just sex with Poppy that was fun. He liked talking to her. He caught himself stupid smiling all the time when texting her. He felt like a stupid kid again (not that he really grew out of being stupid though). Racing down the sidewalk he had never felt such bliss. The fact he was still winning made it even better. If he beat her, she would never hear the end of it. Theo was sure that if she beat him, it would be the exact same.

Rounding the corner, he slowed his pace slightly. He didn't want to slip and bust his teeth on the concrete. That would be a terrible end to their night. As he did so, Theo was most definitely caught off guard. His eyes widened as he felt Poppy jump up on his back. Theo brought his hands up to support her legs automatically so that she, hopefully, wouldn't fall off. He stumbled over the next couple steps, wobbling with the added weight. It wasn't that Poppy was heavy. He could carry her with ease. Thankfully though, he was able to maintain his balance. Theo regained some of his speed as he continued towards the front of his building, laughing the whole entire way. He could hear Poppy's giggles in his ear. He hadn't known that was a sound he had been missing. It was like the most angelic giggle he had ever heard in his life. It automatically became one of his new favorite sounds. Was that cheesy? Yeah, probably. Theo couldn't help that it was true.

He made it to the door. His breath came rapidly as he calmed to a low chuckle. He let Poppy slide off his back. A smile so wide on his face it caused his eyes to turn upward into crescent shapes, almost completely disappearing. "I almost dropped you!" He laughed as he punched in his code to the building, opening the door when it was unlocked. Theo gestured for Poppy to walk in before him, still grinning from ear to ear. Swiftly, he made his way to the elevator and pressed the button to call it to them. He stood, hands clasped behind his back as he looked up at the number while it cycled through the floors. The man had to press his lips together to keep from smiling. He looked over at Poppy, biting his bottom lip as he shot her a wink and returned to looking at the red indicator.

The elevator doors opened and again he tipped his head towards the entrance for Poppy to go first. He followed quickly behind her. Before the elevator doors even closed, Theo reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist. Pulling her close so her back was to his chest. He pulled one hand up to push her hair to one side as he brought his face closer. Soon enough he was trailing soft kisses up her neck. A gentle satisfied sigh came from his chest. "I missed you," He mumbled quietly into her skin. He hadn't really meant to say that out loud. It just happened to slip out before he could catch it. It hadn't been the first time he said the phrase. Though this time it felt different. Just like everything else, that phrase felt like it had weight.

He didn't have time to question further whether he should be worried about those words or not, because the elevator doors slid open and a soft ding let them know they had arrived. Slowly he pulled away, moving his hand down her arm to find her hand. Interlacing their fingers, he lead her down the hallway to his door. He unlocked it quickly, feeling his anticipation build, excitement brewing within him. Once inside his apartment, he leaned against his door to close it, pulling Poppy closer once more. Theo brought his hands up to cup her face. He paused. He never felt the need to stop before in this moment. No, he had always been to impatient to get to what he really wanted. His dark eyes found her brilliant blue ones. He stared into them with an intensity he had never done before. It wasn't scary, or aggressive. His gaze was warm, dare I say affectionate. Theo felt his heart pound in his chest as he stared at her. Slowly his eyes wandered over her features, pausing briefly at her lips before making their way back to her eyes. "You're so incredibly beautiful." His words fell out in a single breath, one that he had been holding in by instinct.

Theo leaned in, bringing his lips to meet her's. A passion that was unfamiliar took over. Usually when he kissed Poppy, he kissed her with pure desire. Lust being the driving force that brought them together. This time was most certainly different. Way too obviously so to pretend it was something else. He kissed her slowly, savoring every single second, like he had all the time in the world. But did he? Did he really have unlimited time to spend with Poppy? He knew the answer was no. She had to go back home. To be with a husband who she assumedly loved. For the first time ever, that bothered him. And that feeling made his heart sink in his chest ever so slightly. It tipped him off that maybe this wasn't a good idea.

But then Theo convinced himself to just enjoy right now. To enjoy it with all his raw emotions and heart on his sleeve. It may just be the last time he'd get to.

Poppy couldn't remember the last time she'd had fun like this with a guy she liked. Liked. She had decided that she couldn't really force herself to believe that it wasn't true anymore. She felt something beyond lust for Theodore Yang and it scared her. But tonight, she didn't want to let that get in the way of what would undoubtedly be an amazing time.

Theo quickly eased into carrying her weight on his back and she clung to his shoulders, continuing to giggle a little till he ran forward and eventually let her down. "Almost," Poppy nodded with a chuckle, catching her breath from the running and also all the laughing. "But you didn't."

They couldn't get into the building fast enough. It felt like the elevator was taking forever to come down but once it finally did, she stepped inside and was more than pleased with the welcome she received from Theo before the doors even closed fully. A smile lit up her face when he pulled her close, and she angled her head, giving him more access to her neck as he pressed kisses along her skin. "I missed you too," Poppy told him in return, her smile becoming a little bashful. Poppy always felt passion and she felt driven by lust around Theo. But tonight? She felt actual butterflies in her stomach. Everything about it was cheesy and made her feel like she was in high school but damn did she love it.

Poppy almost hadn't wanted the elevator doors to open so she had more time alone with Theo, but they were in his apartment quickly after that, and they were alone again. And once the door was shut, Theo had closed the gap between them by stepping closer and lifting his hands to cup her face. Poppy fingers hooked themselves into the belt loops of Theo's pants, tugging him closer as a grin lit up her face. Slow and steady wasn't really their method of operation. It was always fast and passionate and sometimes a little messy, but either way, always a good time. Tonight would be good too, no doubt, but it sure as hell felt different, from the moment their lips touched.

Time after that seemed to slow, because Poppy was savouring every second of it. The undressing, the careless walking to the bedroom and nearly knocking things over. There was a certain appeal to all of it that was definitely different from their other encounters that were driven mainly by hormones. While that was involved now too, something else was also involved, and Poppy didn't stop to think about whether Theo felt it too.

By the time they were done, she was tired, but also still buzzed. And above all, she felt good. She felt at peace. More than that, she felt like it might not be so bad to fall asleep in Theo's bed every now and then, only to wake up and be greeted with breakfast. Something her husband should have been doing, but something she wanted from Theo instead. It was a dangerous thought, but instead of indulging it further, she just rolled over onto her side to look at Theo. "Glad we got to go back to that first night and finish off what we nearly started," she told him with a small laugh, using a hand to push back her hair since it clung to the back of her neck from a mild build up of sweat.

Usually it seemed like a race to get out of their clothes and into the sheets. Tonight, they left the race track behind and went on a Sunday drive. The fast lane was always exhilarating, giving Theo an adrenaline high. To slow down, enjoy the scenery, it felt so good. Stumbling to his bedroom, he couldn't keep himself from smiling into their kisses. Theo never really considered if Poppy felt anything at all. He had never wondered if she was still going along without strings attached. Mostly because he had been so focused on avoiding his own growing attachment to her. He couldn't help but think about it now as they continued. It wasn't just him who moved with meaning. She not only seemed to be feeding of his energy, but also added to it herself.

Lying on his back, Theo stared up at the ceiling. He felt absolutely breathless, even if his chest had practically returned to it's normal rhythm. Not because he had completely worn himself out, he felt energized, almost wired from the evenings events. He just felt that incredibly good. Time spent with Poppy had always left him soaring, but this was different. He was unsure if he had ever come away from being with anyone with this feeling. He had been with his fair share of women, probably more than his fair share, but this was an entirely different feeling. The only time Theo had ever experienced this was when he was with...oh.

That thought frightened Theo. Having her name float into his head, knowing how true that statement was, it made his heart pick up pace. Was that how this would end? Sure it felt good in the moment, but would it be worth it? The thought was quickly knocked out of his head by Poppy's voice. His head turned to the side to look at her. As soon as he locked eyes with her, Theo felt his fear melt away. Hair messy, cheeks flushed, sweat of passion glistening off her skin. She looked so perfect. This moment felt too perfect to be upset. Seeing her made him realize that he didn't want her to leave, he didn't want her to fall asleep next to someone that wasn't him. Theo knew that her husband didn't deserve her when they first met. But now, he didn't just know it, he felt it.

His lips turned up into a gentle smile as her statement. "Oh really?" He voiced as he turned onto his side to face her. One hand pushed his hair back off his forehead as the other rested up under his head. He quickly brought his hand down to join the other, knowing that he let it do what it wanted, it would probably get him into trouble. Poppy's sentiment that it was nice to finally see the ending to their initial meeting was something he agreed with. Though he never imagined it would have ended like this. He could have never pictured himself actually growing this unmistakable fondness for her. "It was better than I had imagined," He added, unsure if he should say anything else.

His attention was quickly pulled away at the sudden flash of light that came through his window. It was then that he realized that the gentle sprinkle they had come out of the club to had turned to a healthy spring rain. Theo had been too distracted to notice until now. A few seconds after lightning had stuck, thunder rumbled overhead. It wasn't loud, or all that powerful, since it still seemed far away. Though, it was possible that the storm would only build. Theo liked falling asleep to the sounds of the rain, so he wasn't one to complain. Slowly his eyes moved from the window back down to Poppy as lighting lit up the room once more. Wait. Was something wrong?

Poppy rolled over onto her side when Theo did, so she could face him. "It was," she nodded in agreement when he explained that it was better than he imagined. It was so much more than that, in fact. She just couldn't bring herself to admit that, out of fear of what it would do to this arrangement they had. The arrangement that was now dangerous, but that she wanted more than anything.

She wanted to say something else, maybe a cheeky comment or hell, maybe she'd even try to initiate round two, but before she got the chance, a flash of lightning lit up the room and Poppy froze instead.

With them being engaged and completely lost in each other, Poppy had been able to overlook the pitter patter of light rain outside, though in the midst of it all, it had gotten heavier, and now a storm was brewing. None of it sat well with her. Each flash, each burst of thunder brought up images in her mind that she'd tried hard to get rid of, but it was hard. Poppy always got this way when the weather was stormy. She tried to push it away by closing her eyes and taking deep breaths, but at the moment, it wasn't helping much.

She opened her eyes after a moment to see Theo looking at her and she let out a small sigh, realising that her sudden change in demeanour was something he obviously picked up on. "Sorry," she let out a small, shaky laugh. She'd always tried hard to keep her one major fear under wraps. Usually, nobody but Oscar or her brother were around to witness it, and they were the only ones that knew about it, but she hadn't felt this in a long time, and it caught her off guard.

"I, uh, I don't do well with storms," she explained, swallowing a lump that seemed to be forming in her throat. Poppy and Theo rarely exchanged personal details about themselves since that usually crossed the lines of their arrangement. They did it once when Theo spoke to her about his ex, and it had been a stepping stone of sorts, for her feelings for him. Was this another one, considering the fact that she trusted him enough to be up front with him about her fear?

When his gaze moved back to Poppy, he could tell something was wrong. Her eyes were shut, her face scrunched in worry, and lying there with rigidity that told him she was scared. Theo felt his face shift to a confused expression, one with a hint of worry. When their eyes met and she let out that very nervous chuckle, he wanted to ask if she was ok. But he was interrupted by her apologizing and a few moments later her admission that she didn't do well with storms. But Poppy had more than just the childish uncomfortableness with the loud thunder, didn't she?

Theo recognized her little breathing technique. Closing your eyes and taking deep breaths to calm one's self. He had a friend in college who had anxiety and in order to avoid a panic attack, that's often what he would do. When he'd get like that, Theo knew it was time to go somewhere quiet and just relax. His expression morphed from mostly confused to worried. "You don't have to be sorry," He responded. Theo kept his voice soft, a gentleness that he hoped would make her relax. He was curious. Which was inherently bad considering their situation. He wanted to know why Poppy was so afraid. He wanted to know so he could make things better. This felt like another moment, just like before, where things could shift once again. Where their relationship would diverge once again from what they had originally agreed upon. But in the moment, so caught up in everything he had been feeling, Theo didn't think about the risk.

His hand went out slowly to settle on her shoulder, moving down to her arm to rest there. His thumb moved in slow circles, trying to sooth her at least some. "It's ok, I'm right here," Theo told her. He didn't want her to think that she was alone. That he didn't care. Because at this point he cared and there was no way to get around it. It wasn't just because he would feel awkward if she started panicking, or that he was just nice. Theo genuinely wanted to help Poppy because her being afraid made him upset. He just wasn't sure how to make things better. "What can I do?" He asked without thinking. Whatever she needed, whatever she wanted, he'd do it. No matter how many rules it broke, if it could help her, calm her, make her feel secure, Theo would do anything she asked of him. Which is what always got him into trouble.
