Background: Kayleigh is the middle child of the Hale family, with an older brother at nineteen and a younger brother at fourteen, named Charlie and Stephen respectively. She grew up in the North of England and attended college until she was turned into a vampire. She had been walking home from her friend's house late at night when she noticed she was being followed by a strange looking man. She took a turn down an alley to take a short cut, hoping to escape him, but only found herself confronted with another similar looking man. They moved to attack her but someone swept down and rescued her before they had the chance to hurt her. Her hero was none other than Larten Crepsley - a stranger to her. He told her who those men were - rogue vampaneze whom he'd been tracking for weeks. Naturally he had to explain what vampaneze were, and that vampires were real. She laughed at him at first, but he managed to convince her. He told her that if she returned home, the vampaneze would most likely follow her and kill her and her family unless he killed them first. But when he went to find them again, they were gone. He knew he couldn't leave her to return home and risk the life of five innocent people. So he gave her the choice of becoming a creature of the night to save the lives of her family. She agreed, not wanting to be the cause of her family's death, and after convincing her family and friends that she had died in a terrible accident, Kayleigh left in the night with Larten Crepsley.

Background:


With little emotional ties to his mother and stepfather, Austin began spending a lot of time out of the house when he was thirteen. The family home sat close to the opening of a forest and AJ spent his time in the woods with his sketchbook and headphones. He'd always had an interest in horror stories and movies, so when rumours of vampires and a lesser known kind called vampaneze began circling around his school Austin was quietly intrigued by the stories, he even went so far as to try and track a vampire. He went on to college and was brought into the world of the vampaneze by a man named Gannen Harst in the middle of his first year, his studies failed to suffer as he began learning the ropes. Gannen had seen him at the age of fifteen and had been quietly tracking him ever since, he only dared approach the teen when Gannen could be sure that AJ had matured enough to take on the secret. He completed two years at college then moved on to travel with Gannen, needing only to tell his family and few close friends that he was going off to University.
