Zeds and animal mutants:
Human mutants, or Zeds as they are called among the population, are mutated as the result of the HEF virus. These mutations are mostly superficial such as torn away skin or a melted face and don't effect cognition or mental ability. This means that Zeds still maintain their human functionality and can communicate clearly. The occasional superpower will appear in a small habitation of Zeds. This creates either a formidable ally or a deadly foe. Mainly living in clusters underground, Zeds are docile towards other humans and non-mutated animals. Their tendency to thrive off of dirty water and bare minerals make them friendly to most outsiders, as they are not seen as food. However, R&R is imminently hostile towards them when they have something they want, but since Zeds generally don't have much along the lines of food or water, R&R doesn't really come around much. Greathelm is wary of them, but hostile if a Zed is found above ground as Greathelm seeks to eradicate the virus and anyone infected from it.
