Name: Steve Freeling

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Escaflowne_The_Movie_Screenshot_1113.jpg

He is 6' 3½" (1.92 m) and 155 lbs. He typically wears a sailor's uniform because of how often he is at sea leading the navy.

Personality:
He is a friendly, kind and selfless teen who often spent his time with commoners before the attack. While he was once quite cheerful, he has become depressed and withdrawn after recently losing his entire family, often questioning the point of his existence because he was unable to help them and finding himself wracked with guilt and anguish.

Backstory:
From a young age, Steve went around lending a helping hand to citizens in need and loved every second of it, his twin sister Lucita often in tow. About a year ago, his father, Ezekiel the king, placed him in charge of the navy after the navy's previous captain passed away. About a week ago, he returned home to the castle in the late hours of the night, having sent all of his sailors home after a long day at sea. What Steve found was very disturbing. First, Lucita was brutally slaughtered right in front of him as he attempted to engage the attackers in battle only to find that his sword had little effect. Next, their older brother Pazu met with a horrible fate as he and Steve attempted to fight them off. After that, their mother, queen Lastelle, fell at the attackers' hands. It was then that king Ezekiel forcefully ordered Steve to hide, shoving him into his bedroom and hiding him in the closet before going back downstairs to distract the attackers and buy Steve some time. Steve, shell-shocked after seeing what had happened, could only sit there frozen in place and listen to his father's murder in horror. The next morning, he finally garnered the wherewithal to go to the dock to meet with his men and inform them of what happened to the rest of the royal family, his family. The sailors vowed to stay by his side through thick and thin, and now they are all at sea as the 17-year-old orphaned king must attempt to figure out a way to stop forces that are much stronger than any human being and impervious to conventional weaponry before they kill off all his people.

Hakon.png

A MERCENARY FROM THE NORTH

BASICS
Name: Hakon

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Personality: Hakon has a one-track mind when it comes to accomplishing objectives; the contractor's and his own. Often he prioritises the former, in light on keeping up a reputation. Fair warning to those who party or associate with the man, as he pays he pays no heed to those who cannot keep up with him and lacks any hesitation on tackling a situation head-on.

However, is he heartless? Depends on what the word means to you. He enjoys the sight of viscera and the addictive rush of adrenaline in his veins, but he is prone to display acts of cruel mercy to those who put up a fight that would make him laugh.

Hakon is a man of few words (and for good reason) but of many gesticulations. If the eyes are the windows to one's soul, his would be his body language (his emerald eyes are as shiny as the gemstones themselves, but cold and unreadable).

PHYSICAL
Height: 5' 9"

Hair: Long; a mix of dark chocolate and umber, often tied up but long strands of it still fall against his shoulder and neck. If one inspected up-close they would see faint flickers of white.

Eyes: Emerald green

Physical description: Mesomorphic build; a bit of a belly that's hidden by a bulk of armour. The most noticeable muscles are around his bull-like neck.

HISTORY
Nobody knows what settlement Hakon hailed from as all he responded to such tedious questions was "The North". He lacks close friends, preferring to keep relationships as business partners and meat shields and fodder.

The story of Hakon is just a simple mercenary; whose love is battle and carnage. The gold he receives is just a shiny front to add to his reputation.

Well, that is all Bellower could come up with; those who asked too many intrusive questions...live but can no longer tell tales.

"EVEN THOSE BEYOND WILL HEAR ME."

Bellower 1.jpg
BanishedPotato
THE HOWLS OF DAMNATION

BASICS
Name: Bellower

Gender: Nonbinary (responds to masculine or feminine pronouns)

Personality: Shedding their main human persona, their personality remains the same except the fact that Bellower speaks as much as they move. And when they speak, well, they shout out every word.

Current Ruling Position: Garandor (The North)

POWER
Banshee's Grieving Arrangement
Bellower's war-cries can be heard from across the battlefield; a cacophony of anguish, pain and...ecstasy.

  • Bloodthirsty Cry - Shouts of encouragement to screams of punishment sends their shades into a berserk frenzy; along with themself. Here Bellower's visage turns completely red, attacking anything and anyone in their waraxe's range.

  • Mournful Wail - A drawling wail that sounds like a choir of trapped, damned souls. Shades and other fighters alike that hear this cry become sluggish with their movements, tears blurring their vision.

  • Crimson Scream - A bloody shout (literally) that strikes fear into their opponents' hearts, possibly causing them to flee or be stunned from the horrifying visage of a towering Shade Lord's bloody foaming mouth.

STATS
Strengths:
  • Intimidating Presence - Alongside Bellower's grand height (7'2") and the waves of strength that flow from them, makes standing near them quite uncomfortable.

  • Quick Reflexes - As if Bellower was born to fight, their survival intuition is impressive enough to predict possible movements of their opponent and counter them.

  • Ghostly Body - If enemies found it difficult to pierce their through armour, they have another storm coming. Bellower can only bleed by magically enchanted items.
Weaknesses
  • Low Intelligence - Its impressive how a Shade Lord like Bellower has a similar capacity of intelligence to a Shade grunt. They get easily frustrated by complex reasoning and strategising.

  • Widowing Bane - Oddly, Bellower will leave a widow and a Widower alone. They don't know why nor do they care, so far, to understand. In their perception, they see them as walking clouds of smoke.

Name: Hecate [HEK-ah-tee]

Gender: Female

Appearances:

About 8-years-old

Personality: Hecate is childish in nature, laughing at almost anything, whining for something until she gets it, and loves animals. A lot more than she does humans. She is still a shade lord, leaving no mercy and only destruction in her path. Killing is like playtime to her, and she hates to lose. Despite her frustrating behavior, Hecate can command her shades in battle like an expert in chess. As a child, she knows what can hide people and what can't, making her forces the best at setting ambushes or traps. Also, this lets her know where to look in a town should they be searching for a refugee like a surviving royal. If whoever she kills has a pet like a dog, she will love it and take it back home with the rest of her happy puppers. Hecate can grow attatched to almost anything, even handsome men. She will hug a pig if she sees one and observe a spider as if it were a hamster. In spite of everything, Hecate is still a child. She grows bored and falls asleep during important meetings, likes sugar, doesn't know much vocabulary, has a squeaky voice, and makes a mess of things. She is unexposed to things like the reproduction process, except for violence of course.

Hecate doesn't want to rule the kingdom she took over. As the Mad King is currently in the Midlands, she has excused herself from ruling and wanders around like a lone wolf with her shades.

Power: Hecate has her own pocket dimension, which she calls her "Dollhouse." She rummages through whatever village she can find in search of handsome men. Those unfortunate enough to grab her taste are thrown in, and forced to live forever in the Dollhouse. In the Dollhouse, nobody can be harmed. No-one can feel hunger or pain or tiredness. Occasionally, Hecate will jump in herself and "roleplay" with everyone inside. Those who do not comply will infuriate Hecate, and she will make them unable to move their bodies and slump to the ground like an actual yarn doll. She then throws them into the second part of the pocket dimension: the Closet. She has yet to fill the "Boyfriend" slot, and is actively searching.

Dollhouse.jpg

Outside the pocket dimension, she can teleport around as long as the destination is in sight. If anyone is making physical contact to her, Hecate can make them see hallucinations, depending on what they are most afraid of or who they grieve the most. In combat, she can create, shape, and manipulate knives out of thin air. She will use telekinesis to shoot them, and unless they hit a living thing, will fade into nothingness within seconds. If the victim allows her to hug them, she can bring them into her pocket dimension.

In short, she has a pocket dimension where she plays with those she brings into; she has teleportation, mental hallucination, and knife manipulation.

Strength: Hecate is an expert in hiding and stealthing her way past things, as children do. It has translated to her grunts, making them best at ambushes and Vietnam traps like pitfalls, snake pits, and tripwire-triggered maces (Totally did not look up a list of Vietnamese booby traps). After seeing fire be put out with water, she has trained her shades to always be near a water source or carry some with them. When her victims are near a campfire or are carrying the torch, the first thing she will always do is put it out.

Weakness: Hecate looks and acts exactly like a child. She's an annoying, spoiled brat, and will pout and cry and roll on the floor should things go against her wishes. Also, the way she always goes after the fire first can be used in a trap or something to trick her. In terms of physical combat, she fails massively. She instead relies on magic to fight, but mostly her shades.

Fire, too, of course, but it'll be rather hard to scorch her; she can teleport and focuses the extinguishment of fire

Name: Elexar Von Dursthen

Gender: Male

Appearance:
d7jb3xw-1cc723e2-cb81-42fc-b06a-ba5d6c0d6ce9.png

17ujxnt2wrvi1jpg.png

baa27a58a45aae675b89c5b8b59b056c.png

Personality: Elexar has a very fickle personality, something that more often than not causes him to act in irrational or bizarre ways. Usually, he is surprisingly well-mannered and literate, speaking fluently and respectfully. He may not have a silver tongue, but he can definitely get a point across... A logical one, at least. He is very calculating, being able to solve problems reliably and methodically.
Unfortunately, however, his psyche comes packed with several vices: He is proud, vain, and extremely confident in his abilities. To this end it is fair to assume he will never back down from a challenge. He has a vicious temper when he feels someone is disrespecting or belittling him, and that has gotten him into trouble with other lords quite often. Most notably of all is his major interest in human affairs and interests: A fire further stoked by the time he spent with an extraordinary young courtier of the Kingdom, he is trying to comprehend concepts such as love and art. His confidence is nowhere to be found when dealing with such affairs, and so his usual charisma evaporates.

Power: The Warmaster: His nature as a conqueror means that his magic has to follow suit. Therefore, it mostly revolves around buffing his allies and making use of his troops, as well as some secondary effects to help him personally in combat. His magic relies on energy. Energy is passively generated, and generated faster while in combat. More precisely:

Doom Banner: Spawns a Banner which causes nearby units to deal increased damage against foes, as well as attack more frequently. The increase is noticeable, but not massive. However, after a cooldown, another banner may be placed. The buffs do not overlap, but the base bonus increases, as well as the radius of all other banners. Lords are not affected by banners. Destroying the banner is possible, but it is magically enchanted to be considerably more durable than a regular banner. If one destroys his banners, his energy generation is halted for a few seconds. The banners last for a dozen minutes before expiring, but every new banner increases that time.

Desperation banner: This banner makes units within range tremendously more durable, especially against projectiles. This banner costs more energy and takes longer to set up.

Terror Banner: This banner has a larger radius than the others, but only buffs the "Special" shades. However, the buffs are far greater, giving them both greater defense and offense.

Bloodlust Banner: Initially, this banner has no effect: However, as damage is dealt or enemies are routed, the banner "charges". He may at any time activate the banner, consuming all charges stored to give bonuses of his choice. While minor bonuses on low charges, the buff increases exponentially the more charges are stored into it.

Undying Banner: This banner also shares the larger radius trait of the terror one, slowly but steadily healing the shades. It lasts for much longer and may cause some of the shades to fuse with one another, creating stronger, bigger and more durable amalgams.

All of these effects can be applied faster without the use of banners but with a much smaller area and duration. If he chooses to do this, a standard appears in an area that follows these units around. The standard is there merely to denote the presence of the buff and cannot be destroyed. They can also be applied to a single target, with greatly reduced costs if he can touch the ally. In this manner, he can also buff shade lords. If a shade lord can utilize magic, then the effects of terror banner may instead grant them more powerful magic or a new variation of their power.

The Eternal Campaign: Elexar can grasp a broken, surrendering or defeated enemy and force them to join his personal retinue as a revenant. In this form, their minds are dulled. Everything they may have known about war is remembered extremely vividly, but all other aspects of their lives are muddled and foggy. They may not act against Elexar's wishes, and their physical abilities are moderately improved, proportional to their skill and strength pre-mortem. The larger the retinue gets, the bigger the cooldown and energy costs get. He may sacrifice a member of his retinue in order to heal and replenish his energy. The Retinue shares a mental bond with him, and when called to his side can move at tremendous speeds. Beasts, magical and non magical can also be recruited in this manner.

The Art of War: perhaps his least-noticeable ability, he is proficient with any sort of weapon, and can summon them at will with but a minor energy cost. The weapons summoned are of excellent quality but have no inherent magical properties. Energy may be funneled into them in order to unleash special weapon techniques, each different depending on the weapon type. While formidable, most of these techniques either have a drawback or a disproportionate cost.

This also enables him to potentially pick up more ways to use his magic as he researches other arcane and holy magics. War is always evolving, and so is he.

Strength: When fighting as the head of a well-organized army, defeating him can be tremendously difficult: He is a strategical genius without compare, knowing exactly how to utilize his troops and their superhuman abilities to their fullest extent. He is extremely adept at multitasking and not getting carried away, and none may claim to be superior to logistics. He himself is constantly experimenting with making the shades into different unit types, relying on tactics and their inherent versatility rather than just numbers. His personal retinue also makes getting to him a true hassle, and a failed assault on your part will allow him to replenish his forces with ease. And while not as formidable as his peers in the personal combat skill department, he is still a great warrior and should not be underestimated.

Weakness: The aforementioned lack of tremendous power in single combat. In addition, he lacks a reliable means of escape, so getting caught out in an unfavorable position means he's in for a world of hurt. In addition to this, his awe-inspiring repertoire of vices, flaws and quirks can all very easily be exploited to make him act in a way he otherwise would not. Anything from provoking his pride to cause him to begin squabbling with his own allies to demonstrating how superior his skill is comparably to the mad king's to make him start pushing for more titles, and even attempting to exploit his fumbling social skills in an attempt to crudely charm or at least confuse him may all have a considerable effect. Oh, and of course, one cannot forget fire.

Drellin is a bookworm at heart never one to miss the chance at learning something new. Largely he is straightforward and not one to grasp humor or social situations he is not used to. He tries to be supportive when he can even if he has no idea how to help. Though he speaks

Backstory:
The youngest of a noble line of Elves Drellin was born into a difficult time of his family. His father had been absent for the first 50 years of his life until one day that changed quite a bit. His father came back but looking troubled. Time had gone, his father a changed man and the discovery of some odd items had lead to the other families into an investigation. Multiple magical items had been found along with odd things, 5 vials of blood with symbols on them, a finely crafted letter and a letter from some man only named as "Soris" a king and a human of all things. Which was astonishing as the only humans he was ever familiar with were the legends. And the disturbing thing was something odd. A bit written in a language he had no seen in a bit, and it worried him. And at the behest of the other council members he ventured to this new land in his fathers journal. Hoping to redeem his family for the crimes his father had committed.

Personality: ragthen is.. a strange fellow like most northerners (or dwarves as some low landers call them) he as some eccentric quirk to him, most of the time he is painfully serious, taking everything literally and in the bluntest way even speaking in such a manner and well it can easily get annoying at times, although even with this painful bluntness and somewhat oblivious attitude to nuance at time ragthen is still capable of intelligent decision making if somewhat over-explained, however, something changed out of nowhere every once and a while a sadistic sarcastic side of the man appears, this one enjoys violence explosion and.. fire, ironically hes probably had his best ideas in this state, well if the concept of a "blasting charge" was anything to go by.

Backstory: like most spire arcs before him... ragthen was part of the royal family third in line to the throne, and well rather popular for his blunt personality usually able to get through to the most eccentric of the other thinkers and understand as well as assist in representing their ideas easily to other, even his more violent side was well appreciated by some of the lower classes and well.. even the merchants overall he would likely be the next spire lord well that was until the royal halls where invaded by some unknown force blast through the heavy defenses of the outer fortress with such speed there was little time for any counterstrike or reaction, ragthen was at the time helping with some... "destructive mining" and was quickly user out through one of the many access ways to the exterior of the fortresses before the miner collapsed the entrance behind him now the noble is alone unsure if his family is even alive still although the truth will likely be very grisly

See the source image

Personality: Damian is very quiet and prefers to be in his own little world and studying about the actual world rather than living in it. Intelligent and slow to make judgements about just about anything, Damian was a constant disappointment to his family. His family consists of powerful and ingenius warriors, but he decided that he would instead become more book learned. As Third in line for the throne, it really seemed that there was never any need for him to become the grand sort of warrior leader that his family expected. A point of contention with the rest of his family, he was sent off to the university to learn and hopefully one day grow out of his avoidance to the martial skills that his family so dearly loves.

Backstory: Having been off at the Kartian University during the initial invasion and slaughter of the rest of his family, Damian is noticeably still in shock at his predicament. He was always one for having his nose behind a book and avoiding his martial studies at home and on the field. He never wanted to fight and figured that as the third in line for the throne, he never would have to. Perhaps he would become an advisor to his older siblings and in doing so, maybe, just maybe, his family would let him pursue what he actually wanted to do in life. Now, they are dead and he just doesn't know what to do. His entire life has been flipped upside down. His attendents whisked him away and now he is on the run to survive the purge and conquest of his people.

Name: Khyluria

Gender: Female

Appearance:Image result for succubus anime art

Personality: Khyluria is a very happy succubus. She what she does and who she is, which is to manipulate the minds of mortals both male and female through her physical charms as well as her mental prowess to her whims. Her life and those humans that she has conquered will become filled with endless debaucheries. So much so that even the ones that she is not directly influencing with her abilities will not find any reason to fight her or their lot on life. She prefers manipulation with words or powers and natural charisma to endless force and will only use it as a last resort. Physically she is not particularly strong, but in order to fight her, one would have to get through her powerful legions of shadow troops, of which, she possess strong ones in case her manipulations fail. Surprisingly, Khyluria is a demon of her word and if she makes a deal with someone, she will follow it to the letter. As such, if one is making a deal with her, they better make sure that it is properly worded, as she will exploit any and all loopholes. This succubus prefers pleasure to business and will always make sure that she and the people around her get the pleasures of the flesh that they require on a daily basis. But, she also plans to make sure that this human nation does not fall to ruin and actually is running it with moderate precision. She is still new to actually ruling a kingdom as conquering it took much time and finesse with gaining control of all the guards in the castle in order to take out the royal family and instill herself in as the new Queen of the kingdom.

Power: Mind Manipulation- Khyluria has the ability to manipulate a person's mind, to twist them to her whims, altering their thoughts and feelings so that they will give in to her commands without question. In the cases of especially strong willed individuals, this might take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, but they all give in in the end. This change is permanent, which is why she often prefers to use her own natural charms and charisma for the task instead as it gets boring dealing with people that can't say no to her if they so chose. The pleasure can be in the chase after all.

Strength: Unnatural Beauty
Boundless Charisma
Manipulative Mind
Flight

Weakness: Non combat oriented

Personality: Elliott is fueled by vengeance, exerting his hate and anger to his enemies. He owes everything to Hecate and the others, now, sniffing out those still loyal to the former royals and leaving only mutilated bodies behind, their houses burning. He lost his heart long ago, replaced by an insatiable bloodlust. Elliott commands his army like a dictatorship, and would've done so with the kingdom if the Mad King hadn't taken the crown. He doesn't mind the new rulers, though; if anything, it's an improvement.

Backstory: Elliott was once a virtuous, loving noble. He married a beautiful woman named Sophie, and together they had two wonderful children, a boy and girl. He only wanted to see his family grow, and for him and his wife become grandparents until the day they passed of age. Elliott was called to deal with a brewing conflict in Manastisia, but when he returned home, he fell to his knees. His home was lit on fire, his kids were brutally slaughtered, and his wife dead and defiled. Pillaging his home were a squad of nights, loyal to a lesser noble which Elliott had denied an offer from. Distraught and furious, Lord Godfrey drew his sword and slaughtered the whole squad single-handedly. He salvaged what he could from the blaze, such as an amulet given by his wife, and buried his family. He would go on to attack the noble's compound, several loyal fighters and knights by his side. He burnt down the house, destroying everything the noble loved, just as he had done to Elliott. Then he made his death slow and agonizing until he passed out from the pain, decapitating his head and stringing it up for all to see. King Rainer saw this as an act of crime, as Lord Godfrey should have told His Majesty of the noble's actions instead of acting on his own hands. After hearing what King Rainer had to say, Elliott began to blame his family's death on the royal family. Elliott hid in the shadows, donning his armor, amulet, and sword. He gathered hundreds of upset subjects and planned a coup against His Majesty.

However, the plan hit a wall, for the majority of them were only farmers with pitchforks. The best of the best protected the armory, who could put up a decent fight against Elliott alone. In that moment, Hecate appeared, striking a deal with him. She cleared out the armory, allowing Elliott to arm his men with the finest swords and armor. The new plan was to create chaos in the surrounding towns, forcing the knights in the castle to leave their posts to assist. Hecate would then enter the castle with little resistance, and rolled the royals' heads. Now, Lord Godfrey has sworn his loyalty to the Shade Lords and the Mad King, disposing those who wish to resist or disrupt the order.
