  Cassie was born to a wealthy and influential family in New York City. Her father was a well known prosecutor, her mother a socialite who'd never worked a day in her life. They lived in an extravagant home in Manhattan, complete with nannies and butlers and a full staff to take care of their every need. They also lived with Cassie's grandmother, her father's mother, who took over her husband's company when he met an early death. The woman was cunning and even brutal at times, which made her perfect for the job and perfect to make Cassie's childhood a living hell. She along with Cassie's mother wanted to make her just like them, but Cassie wanted nothing to do with that life. Unfortunately, though, it was the one she was born into.
  
  At a young age, she met her childhood best friend who made life bearable. She was obviously not from a rich family, but that never deterred Cassie from being her friend. In fact, it intrigued Cassie. They met when Natasha was being bullied by a couple other rich snobby brats, and Cass walked right over and told them off. The two became inseparable after that, and their friendship only grew as the years went on. Natasha was the only one who knew about how miserable Cassie was at home, and the pair bonded over that and many other things throughout the years, including their love for music.
  
  

  teenage years and beyond

  Although the last thing Cassie's mother and grandmother wanted was for her to pursue a career in music, that's exactly what she wanted to do. She'd known from a young age that she was meant to be famous, and she was going to achieve that goal if it was the last thing she did. So when Natasha brought home a guitar, Cassie immediately wanted to learn to play. She begged and begged for lessons, and her family finally gave in, only because her father wanted to do anything for his little girl. He was the only one supportive of what she wanted, which is why his death when she was fourteen rocked her world. Her mother and grandmother tried to take her love of music away, but it was already so engrained in her that it was an impossible task. The two best friends have now been recently discovered, and have been placed with two other girls to create the next big girl group: Venus Impact.

  Alec almost wasn't even born. His mother slept around for money, and when she popped up pregnant, that was almost a deal breaker for her. But she found a way to make it work, and nine months later, Alec was born. Although he almost didn't survive the first few years of his life, considering the countless reckless situations his mother put them in. She had no idea who his father was, and even if she did, it probably wouldn't have helped much. He ended up being taken away from the woman when he was just a few years old, and he spent a good portion of his childhood in foster care. The foster system wasn't friendly to him either, and since he was a small child, he was picked on alot by the other kids and even most of the adults.
  
  When he was nine, his mother came back into the picture. She fought for custody, claiming that she was clean and wanted her son back. The courts awarded her with custody after a long battle, and when he was eleven, he went to live with her. For about a year, things were great. She was clean, and she had found a new path in life. But the old way called to her all the time, and it wasn't long before Alec became the man of the house, taking care of the woman who was back on drugs and falling into other old habits. He always made the house look spotless and managed to convince his mother to stay sober (mostly) during the visits from child services, because he didn't want to lose her again. For the most part, he was a loner, only going to school because he had to and going straight home afterwards.
  
  

  teenage years and beyond

  In his later teenage years, he stumbled upon three guys who actually accepted him into their friend group. They were the first true friends Alec had, and they helped him discover joy in life again. They were there for him when his mother disappeared, leaving behind a note that said she couldn't be a burden to him anymore. For a while they were just messing around with music, but then things got serious. They were discovered thanks to Ryder, and swept up into the whirlwind that is fame. Alec has no idea what happened to his mother, and it hurts him inside but he knows there's nothing he can do about it. At least not now, not with everything else he has to focus on. He's spent most of his life being the responsible one, and a little taste of freedom never hurt anybody, right?

    Natasha was the result of a drunken mishap between a wealthy celebrity who wanted nothing to do with her, and a broke artist waitressing for extra crash. Growing up in bustling New York City, her mother Maria worked long nights to support Natasha and her younger siblings.
    
    Her father paid Maria massive amounts of child support, with the stipulation that they only be used for Natasha and neither of them spilled the secret of the affair. The only reason she ever knew found out her father's name was because of child support checks that came in the mail. Her father was a famous musician, he'd made her mother sign an NDA and had no interest in her or his kid, because he had a "real" family in LA.
    
    Despite her mother's struggling, Natasha always had everything she ever needed thanks to her father's money. This included a private education, at a school for snobby kids in the upper east side. It was miserable, being the only working class kid in a school of privileged students who judged everything, from the public transportation she took and the tiny apartment she lived in.
    
    That was, until she met Cassandra. During one of her first days at school, the feisty little blonde had marched right up to the kids who were bullying her and told them off. Natasha never understood why Cassandra had stepped in that day, but the two had been best friends ever since.
    
    Due to their economic situation, her mother always encouraged her to pursue a reasonable career, like business or a S.T.E.M. field, but Natasha had a passion for the arts and wouldn't be persuaded otherwise. After saving up enough money, she bought her first guitar at thirteen and used the child support money for lessons.

    Life for Zack started off fairly normal, the youngest son of an average suburban family. Zack was always an emotional child, often picked on by his older brother for his overly sensitive nature. Where his brother Adam was into sports, Zack had always preferred expressing himself through music.
    
    By the time Zack was twelve, he was proficient on the piano and the drums. The loud percussion of the drums was the perfect distraction to drown out his parents constant fighting.
    
    During high school, Zack’s parents finally divorced. Ryder’s house became his refugee, if he wasn’t there he was busying himself with band stuff or parties. Anything that got him out of his house.
    
    The day after the official papers were signed, Zack’s mother took off for Arizona, with a new career and a new man.   She’s the quiet one when it comes to both her persona and personality. On stage, she’s all blushes and giggles. She’s the sweet girl next door. Friendly and approachable, kind and cute. Shes there to balance out the other girls, contrasting their confidence with her gentle disposition. “You should be utterly unoffensive,” her manager had once said, “Be the one who can smooth over a mistake with few words.”
  
  It’s not all a lie but is a shallow version of the girl she is when her skin isn’t glowing underneath stage lights. Yes, Zoë is shy, but more accurately she’s quiet. Shes careful with her words. Theres thought behind everything she says, sometimes too much thought. Zoe feels that’s its worth it. Its worth not saying the wrong thing or offending the wrong person.
  
  Its just another way that shes particular. Her words, her pre-show routine, the way her suitcase is packed… Zoe likes things to be just so. She likes the expected much more than she will ever like a surprise. There were too many surprises in the music industry as it was, Zoe doesn’t want or need anymore in her personal life

  Zoe grew up in Maine. Only child to a sound engineer and a stay at home mom. When her dad was working on projects, she would sit on the floor in his home studio, happy to play quietly with her dolls and listen to the music her dad was a part of making.
  
  Her mom took countless videos of Zoe dancing her little fingers across the old wooden stand up piano, clumsily playing notes but smiling her way through the clashing melodies. As soon as she was old enough to show interest, she was asking for lessons. Thinking it would be a passing hobby, her parents paid her babysitter an extra $15 dollars whenever she visited to teach Zoe how to read sheet music. A year or two later, Zoe was outpacing the poor babysitter. She was spending all of her allowance on new books, practicing and practicing until she knew it all by heart.
  
  By middle school she wasn’t content to just sit quietly and listen to her dad’s work. She wanted to ask questions, wanted to understand why he was adjusting the music this way and that. “You don’t need to know all of this to play music,” he would tell her, “You can just play music because you love it”
  
  
  

  teenage years

  Even when her father encouraged her to make music a hobby, she kept at it, drilling music theory and learning every song she could get her hands on. She started writing songs, sappy sad things complaining about boys and friends. It felt good to romanticize her feelings with pretty words and pretty sounds. Sometimes, she would share the songs with friends, but they felt so private, so intimate. So often she was singing the things that she couldn’t tell friends.
  
  To her dad, it was still a hobby. Music was still something that she would grow out of or lose interest in. He was supportive, smiling when he listened to her music and applauding when she played something on the piano, but she wanted him to say that it was good enough to be more than a hobby. She’d never ask for it, but she wanted him to offer to edit her music for her.
  
  Her mom was the one who encouraged going further with music. She was Zoe’s first manager. She stood by Zoe’s side when she was signed for her first album, going with her to record at the label’s studio. Her mom framed the pictures that she took in the hallway. When her first album came out, it gained some traction. Not much, but some. It was enough to have her dubbed as a promising indie artist.
  
  She released her second album just after graduating high school. It was full of sad comments about leaving friends and losing love. It was hard, seeing her friends prepare to go to college, all of them excited to move on and leave their small town while she would be staying until she got that elusive big break.
  
  
  

  Joining Venus Impact

  Success, even the small amount that Zoe had found, could only last so long. Her second album couldn’t seem to find the right audience. It didn’t matter how much she asked friends to spread the word, didn’t matter how much she pushed it on social media, her music just refused to find it’s niche. Her record label was getting antsy, putting off signing her for a third album. She felt stuck. Her notebooks were full of songs she couldn’t record and her music was losing traction everyday.
  She started working as a songwriter, trying to prove to herself that she could make this work. That even if she couldn’t sing her own songs, she could sell them. It worked out. She made money and the record label was happy. Zoe missed recording anything other than samples, but she was happy to hear the notes that she’d written make it to the recording studio at all.
  
  That was what her work with Venus Impact was supposed to be. They needed someone to write their songs. It was easy enough. Something easy to listen to, something up beat. Alt pop wasn’t too far off of the style of music Zoe had written for herself. She brought a few examples of songs she’d written to show the girls at the first meeting. It went well, incredibly well. The girls had been amazing to work with and when she’d played the sample they had liked her voice.
  
  She’d gone home to write for them, and found an email from her record label saying that they wanted her to join the group. It had felt like everything had paid off. Every late night, every tough decision, every drop of self doubt.

  But that’s part of his allure. Its sharp words and a smirk, piercing eyes and a smooth tongue. When hes asked, he says he’d learned from the greats; the first rockstars. The ones that ran LA and NYC, the ones who took everything for granted, the ones who burned bright and fast.
  
  While there's nearly always a calm façade over his expressions, Ryder is a hurricane of emotions. He takes everything personally, letting every word someone says sink into the depths of his mind without resistance. He may have a thick scull, but his skin is nowhere near as lucky. It only took a few gigs of people asking their band to change this or that or be more or less of something or another before he truly started feeling that it was them against the world, an attitude that didn't gain him many allies in the industry, but seemed to cater well to their audience.

  Growing Up

  Ryder grew up as the eldest of 4 kids. He was always being asked to look after his three sisters so that his parents could go to work or go on a date. One day he was driving them to ballet lessons, the next he was making them mac and cheese when their mom had a late shift at the hospital where she worked as a receptionist. It wasn’t perfect (not that anyone’s childhood is), but it wasn’t bad in any way either. It meant that his parents helped him get his permit early and helped him get a car as soon as he had a license.
  
  An old Ford F 150, used and rusty, but it was perfect. He used that truck to drive his sisters where they needed, but he also used it to sneak out and to pick up girls for dates. He used it to drive his friends, collecting money to pay for gas and pocketing the change. It gave him that first taste of freedom, rolling down the windows and blasting classic rock on the highway.
  
  

  The Making of Asylum Noize

  When his friends started showing interest in starting a band of their own, his house was the obvious place to practice; his parents both worked night shifts, their garage was already converted into a makeshift rec room to give his youngest sister somewhere to practice ballet (which she’d taken to quite well), and his none of his neighbors would call in a noise complaint (there was an old and nearly deaf couple on one side of his house and a house rented by college students on the other). He helped the boys lug their stuff over to his place and get the space set up.
  
  They came up with the band’s name thanks to his eldest sister’s constant complaints. “your going to drive me insane”, “this isn’t music, its just noise”, “actually horrible, your crazy if you think anyone’s going to listen to that…”. Of course his sisters weren’t supportive for quite a while. You can’t really expect anything less though. When there are four boys yelling and hammering on drums and busting out speakers in your garage while your trying to finish math homework, its tough to see the potential. But somehow, the band pulled it together. They were able to come up with four songs, enough to open for a band that was touring in the area and looking for someone for one show.
  
  Growth was slow, but it was steady. Asylum Noize’s found a bit of a cult following as they put out more music. It was all produced from that same garage until one of the hundreds of tapes Ryder had sent out got an email in return. It was tough, and Ryder’s mouth almost ruined it for the group a bunch of times, but they were signed. Even though the label promised Ryder the group would be able to keep total creative freedom, he had trouble letting go. He was always over his manager’s shoulder, reading emails from venues and agents. He hated when their music was being edited without being in the room, hated when people tried to tell him what was in the best interests of the group. It was easier when the group existed in his garage, not on billboards and on paper and on stage.

  Backstory:
  
  When Charlie was born, it was considered a miracle. Her parents were trying for a baby for a very long time but it was not happening and her mother had already gone through two miscarriages. Doctors did not recommend trying again but the Hughes were stubborn and Katherine got finally pregnant for the third time. This time though, it was a success and she delivered a beautiful baby girl. Charlie was an extremely loved child and even though four years later, her mom gave birth to her brothers - twins, she never fell short.
  
  When she was 12, her dad decided that she was old enough to be taken out fishing. It was one of William’s greatest hobbies. Unfortunately, Charlie was too clumsy for such an intricate work. After a series of unlucky events, including Charlie messing up everything she touched, William fell out of their fishing boat. The water wasn’t very deep so as he fell, he hit his head on the rocks at the bottom. Charlie, who had never learned how to swim, was panicking in that boat and no need to say that the day ended in tragedy. Charlie had to go through several therapies but she never really forgave herself. She still felt that it was only her fault. She messed up and then she didn’t do anything to save her dad.
  
  What saved her the most was music. After years of therapies and popping anxiety pills like candy, she got into music and songwriting when she turned 15. All her songs were pretty depressing but putting those words on paper helped a LOT. When she joined the band, her mother was begging her, crying, trying to change her mind as the good woman really wanted her oldest to at least try college but Charlie’s mind was made up. She was going to make a career in music. And when the band accepted her as their drummer, Charlie was living the time of her life.
  
  But she never really got rid of her depression and anxiety attacks. It wasn’t unusual for her to disappear for days, packing a few bottles of bourbon, thousand packs of cigarettes and her pills and just lock herself in her room or even leave the town. Those were the times where she doubted herself the most, thinking she sucked ass, she wasn’t good enough and missed her dad like crazy. If people realized what was going on before she shut herself, he was much better, the depression didn’t hit her so hard. Her ex-boyfriend was an excellent observer, he could see the signs of this state of hers and took care of her. They often spent hours, him just holding her tight, she was quiet or even cried because in front of him, she could and he would never consider her weak. But when he moved to a different state, it was all over.
  
  At that point, her drug use started to go down real fast. For her, it was yet another proof that she was not a keeper, that people simply leave and no one will stick around long enough for her. Her partying started to be overbearing and there was very little, very few things that could stop the avalanche called Charlie Hughes. Her nights were spent outside in clubs, dingy pubs, streets, popping pills, smoking, drinking and always wearing a fake happy smile. It was the real beginning of her fall to the rock bottom (though she hasn’t hit it just yet).
  
  Charlie started to focus on the band more than ever. Outside her depressive states, she has always been the happy fool, doing crazy things that no one else would be up to, pranking people. Most of the time, she wears a big cheeky smile, jokes around and entertains people around her. She might not be the smartest gal but she is that kind of a lovable fool that everyone enjoys being around. Of course, if they don’t mind the vocabulary of a sailor.

  Backstory:
  
  Ty was never supposed to happen. That is something that kids really don’t want to know but well, it is what it is. Emily has met Cian, a good-looking Irish businessman, while she was at the college. They hit it off right away and when Emily started her senior year, she found out she was pregnant. Despite her parents begging her, she didn’t finish, dropped out and moved in with Cian who seemed to be excited at first. He even agreed to give the baby boy his last name, insisted on giving him some good Irish first names so his heritage would be with him all the time (which Emily absolutely refused and named her son Tyler), they got married in a very small and fast ceremony with only a few people...and he left. Emily was alone with a newborn, her parents cut her off and she needed to raise Ty, make some money and basically survive. Fortunately, she had a small circle of friends who took her in and helped her as much as possible. However, she could never really look at Ty without seeing his father in those baby eyes. She loved him, make no mistake, but it was difficult and she sometimes had a really hard time expressing her compassion.
  
  When Ty was seven, Emily met Stephen Jackson. Until now, she claims that he was the best thing that ever happened to her. If you ask Ty, well, not so much. After a few months of dating, Stephen moved in with them and decided that the boy needed a strong father’s hand. And Tyler could tell everything about how strong that hand was. He was expected to strive for perfection, keep his grades no worse than B average and Stephen signed him up for a football team, which young Tyler despised more than anything. He tried to voice his opinion once only to find out something more about the strong father’s hand.
  
  Stephen took over the family and Emily did everything to please her new husband. They were together only for a very short time when Lilly was born. It was Stephen’s way of tying himself to this family. Ty loved his little sister to the moon and back but he couldn’t stop thinking about how lucky she was and was jealous seeing that she was getting much better treatment this whole time. It seemed like Stephen was set out to destroy the young boy’s confidence and once Tyler hit 17, got his first tattoos and started to listen to his kind of music, the arguments became even worse. But this time, Ty fought back. He was no longer going to be quiet and accept the hits. His mother never really said anything, she was too afraid of her husband. But Tyler was no longer a small kid.
  
  On the other hand, the family was never really wealthy. Tyler got himself a few part-time jobs to earn his pocket money, which he would never get while his stepdad ruled over the family. His dream was to buy a guitar as he had so many ideas and a notebook or two full of lyrics that were in desperate need of music. He needed a way to express himself and once he saved enough money, in secret, of course, he got himself an old used piece of bass which made him the happiest. He spent countless times locked in his own room, either strumming the strings or headphones on and CoD fully on the old Xbox he got from his friend.
  
  The bass became the only thing in this wretched world that made sense to him. That and his small circle of friends he hung out with more and more. They were the shelter he sought every time he needed to be away from home, away from Stephen. So when they came up with the idea to start a band, Tyler was more than in. Ryder's garage became his second home and he even spent nights on the old couch sometimes which usually earned him severe beatings when he finally appeared at home but Ty didn't care. He had his band, he had his new world which was more important to him and nothing, no one, especially not Stephen was going to fuck it up for him. Stephen was livid, he hated the band and tried his best to get Tyler away from that, saying the young man was never gonna make it anyway. Imagine the jaw drop when the band actually got signed. And from that moment on, Tyler was free of the shackles the Stephen-filled household had put on his wrists and ankles.
