Trying to make the best mech Rp I can. All help welcome

Enolx

Time to murder the English language.
My love for mechs borders lines man should not cross and I want to make a great story since most of my shows have stopped. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions let me know, my idea for the world is below.

My plan was to make a world where the two different types of mech are present. So it would have animal mechs, like Zoids, and human mechs, like Gundam. I wanted to make the world a mixture Zoids new century and chaotic. By a mixture I mean I want the world to revolve around global mech tournaments like in new century, but also have it to where there are free roaming mechs.

In this world players would then have a lot of different options and I want to try to keep it like that. The main choice is of course to make a team or fight solo in tournaments, make money, buy better mechs and parts, and be the best in the world. There would also be the option to be a bad guy, cause trouble, start wars, etc..

I planed to have it to where players starter off with a low level mech and buy, find, make or tame better mechs. That way there would be extra things to do and different ways to reach your goal as a player what ever it may be. I would also create random events to throw in, like roaming high level mechs, to give players a chance of getting super rare mech that will put themselves ahead and closer to their goals.

I'm not sure how I could do character creation in order to allow for different strengths and weaknesses, so any ideas there would be nice. I usually like to do a point system where players choose where to put those points, that way characters are more diverse.

That's everything I can think of, let me know what you think and thanks for the help.

Well I'd have to ask is what is your desired level of mech detail. For me I lean towards pretty complex than again I like my customization and making my own gear to tastes. However you could also easily abstract the thing and not worry too much.

Obviously since you mentioned some sort of progression system that would mean there would be some detail but the amount is variable. I guess on a gameline scale of detail I'd say at the extremes you have something like Battle-tech which is pretty intensive and at the other side I guess Mecha where the things are kinda of super abstracted and not very detailed

I like to give as much detail as possible so others know what I have and what it does . I would like to have a fairly high level of detail when it come to abilities and weapons since there is a possibility of pvp. I just worry about the amount of detail others can put in, I know way to much about mechs and I'm not sure how many others do as we'll.

That's cool but keep in mind it also means more time bean counting and messing with fiddly bits which depending on the type of players you want might be off putting as well as potentially overwhelming.

Also there's unfortunately not a whole lot of mech systems. I guess if you're tastes can handle something clunky and old school Mekton Zeta and Mekton Zeta + would help in the fiddly bits however you might end up wanting to simplify some stuff.

For the zoids aspect I remember zoids being able to evolve in Chaotic century. Remnants has an evolving mech gimmick which I find rather appropriate. I believe once you acquire enough evolution points or something it triggers a change which gives you stat boosts and maybe some customization stuff? However with Remnants the customization isn't super in depth but still there to an extent.

Yea the mech system shouldn't be a problem I planed to have them run like another character that way it's easier to keep up with weapons and other stuff since it would be in a list. The only hard part is simplifying the stats for pilots and mechs. Attack, defense, and speed might be good enough to handle mechs though.

Zoids did have an evolution system. I had planed for that to be possible only if you had a special zoid from a side mission. After that yea I thought a simple level up system would work.

Well that's nice.

Guess the real issue is seeing the actual rules frameworks you got. As concepts are arguable, but it's the execution that matters most

Which rule frameworks are you wanting like, Rp rules, character building rules, in story rules(whatever those could be)

For character generation

You would make a regular character and choose which mech type they are proficient with.(since the cockpits are different and have different ways of piloting) after that you would have 100 point to use in different ways. You could put them into different skills (combat skills) close combat, weapons, control or, (noncombatant skills) engineering, hacking, haggling/communication. You could also spend some points (20)to give yourself dual proficiency or get a better starting mech(40). The mech character sheet would be more simple with only the skills, attack, defense, mobility, and equipment. I would set their stats myself.

For advancement(I will assume you mean stat ups and things like that)

I planned to give stat bonuses after some battles or events. Stats can be gained by mechs by buying different equipment or out side influence( internal tune ups and organoids)

Fighting rules

Don't really have any rules other than don't do stuff your character isn't capable of.

you would buy it from stores or steal it. Then the equipment gives stats or an ability to the meck

And all the equipment will be designed by you?

Perhaps it would be best to share the steps and rules for char and mech gen

Not I'm stealing my shop stuff from the old game that had all that info already. And what are you wanting I gave rules and steps for character building the last time you asked.

Fill out the sheet, choose a low rank mech( moogle, command wolf, zaku, long dagger, ball), put your 100 points where you want them. You can spend 20 point to be dual proficient, 40 points to get a higher c class mech, 80 to get a b rank meck.

A good start for a beginner's class gundam pilot would be the Gundam Astrays known as "Red Frames" from Gundam SEED.

Unlike other gundams, they're just the basic frame for soldiers, not too overpowered, not too weak

Able to use anything from a blaster rifle to a huge katana made for Red Frames, and are automatically made with a Buster Shield.

Another idea would be, either the Leo or the Aries Mobile Suit from Gundam WING

Same thing, not too overpowered, not too weak

Leos and Aries use machine guns, however there are certain types of Leos that use beam sabers and shields, while rare types of Leos and always Aries are seen airborne due to the fact they have booster frames

Red Frames usually seen with Red color scheme, while Leos and Aries are usually seen in either jungle green or urban grey

There's also a third mobile suit in Gundam WING however that are usually in space, known as a Taurus. Has a "plane" mode where it can transform into a plane, usually seen wielding blaster rifles and color schemes are common Black and white, and Rare white and red

sry, im a bit of a big Gundam Nerd, :3<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/AstrayRedFrame2.jpg.e81a842e4f290bc8f4c83e699e602a99.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="31746" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/AstrayRedFrame2.jpg.e81a842e4f290bc8f4c83e699e602a99.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p><p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/57a8c08d14c80_MobileSuitLEO.jpg.2b6d2af42f35b447f3724010b3577c87.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="31747" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/57a8c08d14c80_MobileSuitLEO.jpg.2b6d2af42f35b447f3724010b3577c87.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p><p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/57a8c08d1e1d5_MobileSuitARIES.jpg.d18e8e28ce31461b779fb1f1a41af3dc.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="31748" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/57a8c08d1e1d5_MobileSuitARIES.jpg.d18e8e28ce31461b779fb1f1a41af3dc.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p><p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/1b22c680.gif.9fcd89f89e2009ec45ccb0d4c5db8750.gif" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="31749" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_10/1b22c680.gif.9fcd89f89e2009ec45ccb0d4c5db8750.gif" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

The astray there is a higher class low rank mech since it is was designed by orb who had technology ahead of others and was one of the few who could produce this mech. If you want it fully equipped with sword gun and shield you can the 20 points to get that one to start or you could have the base model red without the shield and gun. Also I have seen and played most things Gundam so don't worry about it I probably know as much as you.

Same. Also I'm working on the start now and I realized I have not thought of an opening, so it may be a sec before I post it.

yes to the fusion in zoids there was a system that let mecks come together so I planed to have it as well. The only fusion I cant allow is the guran lagan main robot because his size is far to large.
