The CCG ​

The Commission of Counter Ghoul is an organization founded on the extermination of ghoul life.

The Ghoul Countermeasures Law is the legal foundation for the CCG's prosecution of ghouls. It is with this law they can freely operate with the genocide of the ghoul species, with nearly all backlash being blocked due to that very law. The CCG's headquarters are located in the 1st ward, and controls that sector with minimum presence. The humans that are investigators are known as "The Doves", a slang based on the crest they bear. These humans are trained in the art of killing ghouls, and are usually armed with a weapon called the Quinque. A Quinque is one of only a few weapons capable of killing a ghoul, due to it being able to slice through them with minimum resistance.

To ghouls, nothing possesses a bigger risk than coming face to face with a Dove. They are to be avoided at all costs, as if a ghoul got careless they'd surely perish.

Ghouls and their powers​

Ghouls (喰種グール, gūru, translates approximately to eater species) are a carnivorous and cannibalistic species that are only able to feed on humans and other ghouls. These creatures are the closest thing to humans on the planet, and despite their temperment, mentality and physique are nearly identical to the human masses. They are just as intelligent as humans due to information gathered upon captured/detained ghouls. This makes them one of the greatest threats humanity has left on the planet and is also one of the main reasons they are wiped out where they're found.


Diet
A ghoul can only feed on humans and other ghouls. They are unable to digest any other type of food due to a particular enzyme their bodies produce. The structure of their tongues is also different from humans', making other foods taste disgusting and uncomfortable.If ghouls attempt to eat normal food, they will be struck by a powerful urge to vomit. When forced or forcing themselves to digest such food, their physical condition will deteriorate. While ghouls cannot eat normal food, they are, however, able to drink coffee, as well as regular drinking water. Many ghouls harm themselves by consuming human food in an attempt to blend in, and despite it working in many cases, it can make the consumer weak to the point they become lethargic.

Ghouls do not need to eat regularly like humans do, and can survive for one or two months on just one body. However, some ghouls eat merely for pleasure. These ghouls are what the media often sees, and is one of the main reasons ghouls are so feared throughout society.

When a ghoul enters an extreme state of hunger, they will suffer very painful headaches and their mental ability will be impaired, causing them to become driven by instinct alone. It is within this state that the most brutal murders occur involving a human and a ghoul. This same state also is the easiest way to figure out who is a ghoul, and who is a human. It is vital to a ghouls survival to avoid starvation, as with it comes certain exposure.
