Futuristic The Society

KhalZhavvorsa

Resurrected Darkness

All disease is cured.

Society is united.

We believe the life we live is nothing but perfection.

Welcome new citizen.

Let us begin your introduction into the perfect society.

Government

You live by the rules set up by a council of 10 people.

The government controls everything, the people have no power whatsoever.

These ten people make all the laws as well as control the judiciary.

These ten people are selected because they are the most adept for the job of running the country.

To be part of the council is a high honor.

Any citizen may be selected to join, but first they must prove their skills on leadership are tuned to perfection.

People in the council may be male or female.

They will never change jobs, and serve until death.

They may be aged from 18 or older.

No one knows who these elected officials are.

They stay in the capitol city.

Everyone is watched by the Government.

You cannot escape their all seeing eyes.

(More information to come as the RP progresses.)

Laws of the Society

1. All citizens are required to go through a mandatory school of 17 years.

2. Citizens will be sorted into their jobs at 18 by going through the Selection Process.

3. No one is allowed out of their homes passed 10PM sharp.

4. All citizens must conduct themselves in an orderly fashion.

5. Should a citizen begin to feel any angst or overpowering emotions, they must take the Green Pill.

6. Only government officials will tell you when you may take the Red Pill.

7. All books and art not approved by the government will be burned.

8. All citizens are required to receive their annual vaccinations.

9. At the age of 18, citizens will be sent to the capital city to undergo the Matching Process.

10. From age 18-30, you are required to have at least one child. No more than two.

11. At age 18, after the Matching Process has been complete, partners will receive a home together to start their lives.

12. Two years after the Matching Process, partners will be required to undergo a marriage ceremony.

13. After a child is born, the parents are given 3 years to care and raise that child without having to go to work.

14. All music is prohibited.

Should a citizen fail to abide by the Laws, then they shall be taken to the capital for evaluation and trail.

Anyone caught deliberately disobeying the Laws will be sentenced to public execution.

The Pills

There are three colors of pills. Green, Blue, and Red.

You are given more than enough for your lifetime.

Green: The green pill is for anyone feeling overpowering emotions; such as (but not limited to): Anxiety, lust, depression, anger, etc.

Blue: The blue pill is mainly used by the military, but is open to any citizen. It is a supplement pill that gives you enough nutrients to survive for a week. It is not advised that you take this pill more then once a month.

Red: The red pill makes your forget everything that happened within 24 hours. Only government officials are allowed to make you take them. Shortly after taking it you will fall asleep, to which an official will take you back to your home.

The Matching Ceremony

The matching ceremony takes place once in every citizen's life.

At the age of 18, each male and female board a train and are taken to the capital city where they will be separated by gender.

Females will be taken to a seamstress and select any dress she wants.

After which, she will be escorted to a facility to have her hair and make up done according to her dress color and physical features. Here she will be prepared for the ceremony.

After which she will be taken to the matching ceremony building and sat down at a table. From there she will enjoy the banquet until her name is called along with her partner's name.

Males will be taken to a separate place to be suited for a tux of their choice, taken somewhere to have their hair cut and/or styled.

From there they are taken to the matching building, sat down, and enjoy the banquet until their name is called and so is their partner's.

From there, the partner's will leave. They are allotted one week to spend together in the capital city, where they will get to know one another and go on dates.

They will be put up in a hotel, paid for by the families of each person.

After this week, the pair will be given an address and will be required to move in together.

The Selection Ceremony

This ceremony takes place one week after turning 18. (Before the Matching Ceremony.)

The person will be taken to the capital to undergo several tests until they show talent at a particular job.

After a job has been found, they are given an address of where they work, what times and days they are required to be there, then sent back home to prepare for work.

Citizens

You have lived with this life for as long as you can remember, so everything feels natural to you.

In school you are only taught the history of this society, you know nothing of the other worlds, or if they even exist.

You know nothing about the time before the society.

The life expectancy is 80-90 years of age.

8:30AM

Jayden had been up for hours, in fact she'd watched the sun rise over the horizon, as she normally did. Jayden was an early riser, by habit of her grandfather; the man had sunk in her brain that she needed to wake up just before the sun rose, to watch the sky light up in bright beautiful hues. Honestly..she missed waking up with her grandfather to do that..but now that he was away in the Home, there was nothing she could do other than visit him during hours, which she most often-ly did. Today was one of the days she went to see him, not only because she was off work, but because she was anxious about the coming ceremony; the Matching Ceremony. It was her last big ceremony before she got married, and of course..this particular ceremony deemed who she would be with for the rest of her life..a scary though for a girl who was only 18.

Ever since the Home opened up at 7AM, Jayden had been there. Her grandfather and her walked the gardens, talking about the ceremony and what was to come. He told her of his ceremony, and how she felt much life she was now, he told her how he feel in love with her grandmother after that first week that was allotted to the couple. Jayden hoped with all her heart that her;s would turn put like his did. She would fall in love with her Match..and they would be happy together. Surely that was possible..right? Her mind not only wandered there, but it also wandered to who she would be paired with. Would it be someone she knew? A stranger? Would he be older than her by a few months? Younger? What would he be like? So many..many emotions, and yet..she couldn't bring herself to dull them with the green pill. Why would she? It was a big day, perhaps a few overbearing emotions was okay. Just for today, or so she told herself.

As time went on, Jayden talked and walked with her grandfather, listening to his stories about his Matching Ceremony. It was dawning very close to the time for her to leave, but yet..she found herself wanting to listen all day long to how romance and the 'chemistry' worked (as he put it) between two people. It was almost as though she was a child again, learning about the society and curious about all it's wonderment, but her curiosity would have to disappear for a bit, as it was now time for her to leave. Jayden would giver her grandfather a tight hug goodbye as he left her with these final words for the day, "Be confident my girl, and remember..Soar high my little Blue Jay." He would tell her, his signature goodbye to her  at the end with the little motion they did to each other. First he would make a shadow puppet bird, then she could create one that flew high away from the one her had perched. That was something they always did, ever since she was able to figure out shadow puppets, and how they work.

Shortly after leaving him, Jayden began jogging to the train station. It wasn't far from the Home, but she didn't wish to be late. It was white she was running that she regretted wearing a tight black blouse with jeans and shoes of the same color. What was helping her though, was the fact that her long ruby hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail, swishing behind her in the wind as her fiery red-orange eyes darted around people, looking for the train station sign.

Simon liked to think of himself as beyond using the green pills to calm himself.  After three hours of laying in bed without being able to go to bed, he proved himself wrong.  Still, waking up this morning, he was extremely tired.  He couldn't calm his thoughts whatsoever, and he just had to smile like he wasn't terrified of the idea of being shackled to a partner that wasn't capable of acting, of being shackled with another loyal citizen.  God, he was terrified.  The tinge of excitement was offset by the bucket loads of anxiety.  Plenty of people were terrified of this moment, he knew, so it wouldn't be suspicious for him to take a walk, this time.  Hopefully.

Simon decided to take precautions, in spite of this.  It was 8 AM.  The train to the capital wouldn't leave for another two hours.  There was a store he went to occasionally that was about ten minutes away.  He walked there when he wanted to think while walking, and didn't want to cause anyone to think he was anything but a thoughtless loyal citizen who never needed to be alone.  He grabbed some money, enough to purchase cleaning supplies, which made it look like he was hoping to impress his future partner, even though he was almost certain the store was closed today due to the matching ceremony.  Simon had to suppress a smile of pride at how well he covered his bases.

Simon wore a utilitarian outfit consisting of a black long sleeved shirt and black pants.  Granted, that was most of his closet, but still.  He would think about what to wear to impress his match whilst walking.  He walked out of his completely average home, and stood still for a second, just breathing the air.  Simon sighed, and walked for the store.  On the way, his thoughts simply became more and more grim.  What if she was extremely loyal to the government?  That would severely limit any attempt at gaining his freedom.  What if, rather than loyal, she was a vehement enemy?  She could get them both caught and have who knows what done to them...  Before he knew it, he was imagining the government itself being his match.  He snapped out of his thoughts after noticing he arrived at the store.  Just like he'd expected, it was closed.  He sighed theatrically, and turned back around.  He hadn't noticed it, lost in his thoughts, but there were plenty of others taking walks, seemingly terrified of the matching ceremonies themselves.  In spite of himself, he found this reassuring.  During the walk home, he just thought of more and more terrible circumstances.

Simon had arrived home.  He wasn't even sure if he'd stay here after the matching ceremony.  He didn't think he'd miss it.  Simon couldn't bare to wait any longer, even if it was only about 8:20, so he decided to go the train station.  He'd need to be there early to skip past the numerous other 18 year olds in the city, and he could make excuses for not talking with anyone.  Really, this should be the best part of the day.  Still, Simon went inside to grab a few of each type of pills.  Just for insurance.

The train station was much less packed than he'd expected.  There were a couple dozen others, but he'd expected hundreds.  Perhaps arriving more than an hour early was rare.  He sat on a bench and waited.

Marco didn't usually wake up this early.He was never a morning person but he forced himself out of bed.He hated being lost,and today he felt like a child again.Marco simply calmed down and took a green pill,mentally reminding himself that nothing could go wrong.Just after thinking that,he imagined a million ways things could go wrong.That's how he had always been.Always nervous and always afraid.Marco hoped a partner would help him cope,unless she were to be a loyal citizen.Whatever the case,Marco needed to get moving to get his mind off of the loneliness in his house.

Marco almost forgot that he didn't have to work.He almost put on all of his gear and work clothes.However,he was told to be vigilant even when off duty,so he took small things like his extendable shock baton.He felt as if he were going to massacre everyone at the matching.He began to imagine using his work gear to kill people off one by one and then shook his head violently to get rid of that sinister thought.He didn't know why his mind was so unstable,but it was all part of his daily life.He ate a bowl of his favorite cereal, which made him slightly happy,and headed out the door in a light hooded jacket and jeans,but instinctively brought athletic shoes.Maybe in the back of his mind he thought he might have to run away from fear or embarrassment.Marco kept his mind off his surroundings and looked straight toward the train.This was all very strange and he was certain that no amount of drugs could prevent him from fainting or worse.He couldn't bring himself to go alone.Marco thought he had some time to kill and decided to wait a little by the train for someone he knew or maybe one of his siblings.He tapped on his knees nervously as he sat and constantly checked his surroundings.

Ryan Hendrix

   Ry was unusually excited today, and for good reason. She had to actually pinch her arm as she walked at a hurried pace towards the station to contain her emotions. What where they? Fear? Obviously excitement... She thought as she passed the mass of people doing their morning routines, each face a blur right now, ...Perhaps he'll also be an artist? And if he is, ooooh I have sooooo much planned... Maybe he can cook as well, is that even a thing? Well, we'd have to get to know each other throughout our lives, so... I could teach him! And if- wait... Ry! Public! Stop! Her smile began to escape her method of self control as her cheeks got sightly pink. She was already known as the strangest and weirdest civilian in this society, but with in an acceptable limit, so this sort of behavior wasn't a surprise for anyone. In fact, no one really batted an eye in her direction and she really didn't care. Her mind was set on, well right now, to get to the train before one, it leaves and two, she busts into a spur of overcoming emotion.

   Her paced walk unconsciously turned into a jog as she approached the station. Almost there, she told herself, maybe you'll meet him here. She ran onto the platform and caught her breath, leaning against a brick pillar. She shook her head again and tried to get rid of the thoughts herself. She half succeeded as she just started imagining the Process to begin with.

Pretty colors in the hall with neatly aligned chairs, separated by gender, She started telling herself, All symmetrical and... Spectacular, right? This is important for every citizen so perhaps it'll be the prettiest thing we've ever experienced.

"And it is there we figure out who we spend our lives with... Scary to think about, but... I guess, it's also very exciting. Yeah.. let's go with that." She, again, unconsciously spoke aloud, not exactly knowing if anyone was listening... or even if she was.

"Nothing wrong with me, nothing wrong with me, nothing, nothing, nothing," Rüdiger dipped his inking pen into the well and gave the page a harsh brush. The streak it left was dark, incredibly scratchy, nothing at all like he wanted. The girl he was inking was supposed to have delicate raven hair, fitting of a fairytale protagonist, but he'd instead given her a terrible case of bedhead. As his eye scanned the page, he repeated the same harsh words to himself.

"Nothing wrong with me," he hissed. He dropped the pen suddenly, letting it clatter and splash a couple of minute ink droplets on the page. It was a lost cause as a picture anyway, nowhere near high enough standard to turn into his agent. He rubbed his hands together, twice, and cursed himself.

He raised his hand, grabbing at the roots of his hair on the side it grew longer. The pain helped him think straight; one side of his brain was telling him, the green pill, take the green pill, it's what they're there for, take the green pill, you need to take it. However, the other was telling him, no, you are normal, you are normal, there is nothing wrong with you, it's everyone else that's wrong.

He slowly began taking breaths, going through a breathing exercise Tuesday had taught him, continuing until his hands had stopped shaking.

Tommy was nervous he had to knock on that guy with the hard to pronounce name's door and make sure he was taking his green pills apparently the guy was a bit of a loose canon and chief wanted to make sure all was calm.Tommy knocked "hello? mister Giehl. Chief Tomlin's wants to make sure your ok, can you come to the door please?" he called out. "please come to the door, please come to the door" he thought to himself,he waited respectfully a few seconds then knocked again "Mister Giehl? please come to the door"

@0stinato

Upon hearing the sharp tap at his apartment's door, Rüdiger's hands slammed onto his desk, further ruining his illustration. Once his brain had processed what that knock meant, he got up, composing himself, and moved to the door. Before he opened it, he ran his fingers over his eyebrows. It was the only way to remove the scowl.

He gripped the lock, twisted it and opened the door. All of a sudden, he hissed sharply, a compulsion borne of anxiety. He calmly cleared his throat before raising his eyebrows at the doe-eyed man before him. On the man's forehead he saw faint creases, the kind that would indicate painful memories. The face someone would make to hold back broken-hearted tears, a distraught mask of emotion. Although he was looking anxious now, Rüdiger noticed what his face showed.

He stared the man in the eyes, "Problem?" he asked bluntly.

Tommy was shocked by the mans blunt response,he cleared his throat "Chief Tomlin's was wondering if you've been taking your green pills as he is concerned about you and of course we don't want you to get in trouble" he said "may I come in,sir?" Tommy was wondering why the man was staring at him so intensely "is something wrong sir or do you just enjoy being weird?" he said suddenly angry. His face lit up in shock "i'm so sorry" he quickly reached in his pocket pulled out a green pill and swallowed it.

@0stinato

"Weird," said Rüdiger, still looking straight at the man. "I'm so much more than that."

He watched the man take the green pill completely dry, no water, no nothing, just his own saliva to help it slip down. He didn't comment.

When the man was finished he stood aside, opening the door further. He gestured, "And by all means, invade my privacy."

He didn't know who this man was, but if it was a routine inspection he wasn't afraid. He had nothing to hide. No firearms, no drugs, no illicit images. Certainly no plans to take down the government from the inside. But perhaps that was what they were searching for? And they thought Rüdiger was a mutineer? And they'd sent round one man on the pretence of it being a routine inspection when, in actual fact, six more armoured men were waiting just down the corridor, ready to apprehend him if he tried to run?

He blinked, gave a tight smile, "Come in. If you want."

@johndoe

Tommy smiled a little unsure of the man after his comment "so tell me a bit about yourself,you have any family" he asked as he began slowly scanning all of the rooms he looked through the living room then began going upstairs when he walked in a room he saw a soaked through piece of paper covered in ink "what happened here" he asked suspiciously "have a 'little accident'?" he narrowed his eyes at the man and watched for any signs of nervousness like he'd been trained.He knew something was off with this man and he was determined to know the whole truth

@0stinato

Rüdiger, still occasionally compulsively hissing and rubbing his hands together, tried to calm himself again. He kept quiet as the man wandered around his apartment, eyes hard on him the whole time. He answered no questions about his family, finding it personally distasteful to even think about his mother, and he didn't like talking about himself. His paranoia was growing, despite his best efforts to keep it in check.

As the man questioned the paper on his desk, he raised an eyebrow, "I'm an illustrator. It's what I do," he said. But then he noticed his ink, lid off, on its side, oozing out a thin stream onto the paper. It was filling the page with an awesome black, no doubt soaking right through to permanently stain his desk. Rüdiger cursed and hurriedly tried to sort it out, standing the bottle up and gingerly unpeeling the soaking paper from his desk.

"I must've upset it when you knocked," he said, addressing the man as he carefully disposed of the paper in the bin. His fingertips were blackened, and spots and smears of ink were already soaking into his palms.

He grabbed himself a cloth, trying to rub the worst of it off, coming back into the main room where the man still stood. Rüdiger decided to get straight to the point before he felt any worse, "Why are you here? You mentioned green pills," again, he looked the man in the eye.

@johndoe

as the man cleaned up the mess then turned and stared at Tommy,Tommy stared back "i'm here because Chief Tomlin's is a little worried about your emotional state and to be blunt i'm here to physically watch you take a green pill so we know you are" he said staring right back at Rüdiger "so please let's go get you a green pill shall we?" he said in a tone that implied it was not a question "also get in my face like that again and i'll arrest you for not cooperating with a police officer"

@0stinato

Rüdiger was surprised at the man's tone. He threw down the cloth onto the desk and scowled darkly.

"Not co-operating? I'm sure not asking why someone just waltzes into your house is deviating from the norm. And, be serious, you're no older than I am. What is it, your second day on the job? Only just got your little badge?" he snorted. "There's nothing wrong with my emotional state. I'm fine. I'm fine."

((Ooh, conflict!)) @johndoe

((yup lol juicy,juicy conflict i'm going offline now may be on again tonight)) @0stinato

Tommy walked up to the man and stood right in front of him "what's the problem with me coming into your home? got something to hide?" he asked harshly "now i'm gonna give you three seconds to go down stairs and eat a green pill or I will beat you bloody and drag you into the police station and yeah it is my second day on the job and you give me a chance to make a good impression" he withdrew his nightstick and held it at his side "one,two-"

Not at all bothered by how close the man was standing, Rüdiger felt slightly amused. He was extremely uncomfortable about the whole situation, not wanting this stranger in his personal space, but there was nothing he could possibly do about it. Tuesday had always warned him he'd get badly in trouble one day, what with his stubbornness. But Rüdiger had been too stubborn to believe him.

As the man brought out his stick, making a physical threat as he did so, Rüdiger smiled, "Do you know what tardive dyskinesia is?" he asked.

((Sure thing, @johndoe. I do hope you return - it's just getting interesting))

((got a little bit longer)) @0stinato

"-3 I warned you" Tommy said he then struck Rüdiger in the stomach with his nightstick as the man was on the ground Tommy held the weapon up preparing to strick "and I don't know what that is,all I know is you are coming with me" he then hit the man on the back a final time and,while he was on the floor,placed handcuffs on him and lifted him up "you should of taken your pill but know it's official your in trouble"

"Arschloch!" Rüdiger spat, "ficken arschlock! You're," he gasped as he felt the stick meet his body again, its force winding him somewhat, "you're ignorant! If I develop tardive dyskinesia I will literally be out of a job! You ignorant animal! At least let me explain, dummkopf! Christ!"

He felt himself be jerked to his feet. He eyed the man, trying to steady himself, trying to lean his weight into the man to stop him from taking him anywhere yet. Rüdiger was 6'3", yet this man was not afraid to lay into him. And, to be honest, Rüdiger wasn't the heaviest specimen; he was thin for his height, though broad-shouldered, so he looked bigger than he was. He shrugged, trying to get his wrists comfortable in the handcuffs.

"Let me explain," he said, teeth locked together.

@johndoe

Tommy stopped in front of the door "fine explain,you get two minutes if I don't like your answer then we go to jail,ok" he said a bit more calmed down "but so help me God if this is a trick your dead" he let go of the mans arms and turned him around "talk.Now"

@0stinato

Rüdiger positioned himself a few metres from the man, attempting to get his breathing under control. His hands were continuously balling into fists, his body tense and anxious, ready for any movement. He put a hand to his chest, feeling his heartbeat racing somewhat, and quickly tried to calm himself down. He didn't have too much time.

"The green pills," he said, eyes fixed on the man, watching for any movement, "they... remind me of... antipsychotics. How they stop any feelings of anxiety, depression... how they dull any sort of emotion to keep things 'in check' as it were..." he swallowed. "So I'd wager they have the same side effects as actual antipsychotics. One of these, tardive dyskinesia, involves involuntary bodily movements."

He glared at the man, waiting for him to understand.

"If I get that, I will literally lose my life. I'm an illustrator, I have to be able to control my body. I don't want to take that chance. If you really, really won't leave me alone, I'll have to take one. But I tell you, as soon as you walk out that door I'll never touch another one."

With that, he turned away slightly, putting his hands to his head. He started repeating to himself firmly, "I am normal, I am normal, I am normal, it's everyone else that's wrong, I'm sane, I am sane..." It was a coping mechanism of sorts.

All aboard the breeding train, the thought that was, supposed, to be humorous only really served to dour his mood as he watched the other 'soon-to-bes' wander aimlessly into the train station. Some, their faces void of any noticeable emotion or original thought, having taken their daily recommended dose of Green, others anxious as he would never, ever, admit to anyone. Hard not to be, not everyday you were thrown together with a random stranger and told to breed for the greater good of mankind... of course, no more then two and no less then two. Wouldn't want odd numbers. No one liked odd numbers...

Rowan picked at his sleeve, the one that would be replaced with a stuff tuxedo that he would wear for a grand total of... today.. He supposed it could be romantic if it didn't feel like he was on a conveyor belt headed towards the fire, but then, he had always wondered what those small little objects felt when he pulled the lever.. and now he wished he hadn't had those stray little board thoughts, it wasn't quite as amusing as he first thought. Not that it wasn't okay to have a little doubt here, oh, he understand the point and purpose, but... he was a glorified, if that, garbage man. He would likely be paired up with a rather plain woman, maybe someone who worked on a factory floor, they would have that long... long.. long awkward pause and then spend the rest of their lives.. living 'comfortably' after spitting out their two kids. Still, it was hard, even with that thought, to not be nervous. What if she had a voice that screeched? He wasn't sure he could live with someone whose voice made him want to stick his head in front of an oncoming train just to get some kind of relief or, worse, take enough of the green until he didn't care if his head was about to have a heated argument with an uncaring locomotive.

Rowan let out an annoyed huff, blowing a lock of his overgrown hair from his face, the 'murmur' of hundreds of people sounding more like a dull roar and buzz in the background as he leaned against his solitary wall, not because he didn't want to talk, more because.. well.. he.. he would figure out what he was later. For now, he was content to just sit back, watch and think snide comments to himself.
