The Mainland has never seen such horror since ancient days.

The Atlen Empire is located on the continent of Atlus, where the once primitive mankind settled after their native regions were destroyed and burnt by the other smarter and older races. That was the last time they had seen such terror. And so thousands of years later of peace and few wars, the Atlen Empire was formed. It was split into four provinces: the Highlands, the Southlands, the West and the Mainlands. Magic was discovered, people thrived and were happy, the population grew to hundreds of millions.

700 years later after its birth, the once great Atlen Empire was suddenly thrown into a state of chaos and disorder. Famine and disease scoured the lands. Harsh, unexpected winters killed off many people, like a child playing near an ant hill. Crime rates greatly increased. Religion and morals were abandoned, many became bandits. Civil wars had broken out all over. Public executions approved by the Emperor began taking place. Dark, evil creatures like vampires and spirits began to emerge. Many people believe these are the end days, signs of the end. The religious, especially pagans, believe that the Dark Gods had brought this day.

The story takes place in the Mainland province. You are one of the many who haven't died, yet.

The man sat in the cave beside the fire. He could hardly keep his eyes off of the small bird being cooked above the flames, the only food he was able to find in almost two days. At the same time, he was also worried. He glanced out the entrance of the cave, where snow continued to fall down to the ground. What if the smoke and aroma of food attracted bandits or hungry, dangerous animals? His thoughts were interrupted as he coughed from the smoke coming from his fire pit.

As expected, Cesca's campsite was soon visited by a starved-looking bandit, armed with nothing but a sharp, wooden dagger. "Turn back or you're dead," the man yelled. The bandit didn't reply, running at Cesca, ready to attack. He drew his sword and parried the uncoordinated attack, striking the bandit in the left shoulder. The bandit fell down, who was surely bleeding to death. "..Great, now I'm covered in blood." Disguisted, Cesca then dragged the body out of the cave and threw it into the snow, and continued to sit by the fire, this time keeping his sword out and ready to use if needed.

Hugo reluctantly leaned on the side of the tavern,in Avius, he was temporarily working as a bouncer till he could get his next job as a mercenary. He was working with a older guy,he couldn't stand him hated the color of his guts, but he put up with him, after all this was the only job that let him knock people out cold and not get in trouble for it. Most of the people who caused trouble around here couldn't take more then one punch before they were out. The slow hours grinned away at his mind and only feed the urge for him to kill more. He hated how he couldn't kill who he wanted in the city but that was the price he had to pay if he wanted to stay here.

It was late and he hadn't seen any action all day he was getting very board very fast, hoping the next person he got into a brawl with would put up a decent fight. He was in the city searching for some big wig,anyone would do really just someone who found them-self attacked often with a lot of money who needed a bodyguard,yeah that sounded a lot better to him then his current job.
