  Delai has a very odd personality, especially not one you'd expect with his magic type. Usually he is calm, a bit introverted yet very friendly. The type of person you'd see sitting on the edge of a bridge daydreaming, somewhat lost in his own version of the world. People being mean to him easily make him upset, usually sad or scared and he will try his very best to make everyone appreciate him.
  
  
  Furthermore he is very curious, always writing about things he finds peculiar or odd in a separate notebook or journal. Sometimes he even likes to study things that don't really have much to do with magic or history, like geology or cartography. At first glance most would think he'd be forsaking his duties in magic and being an archaeologist, but the opposite is true as he thinks that knowledge about the world is equally important. Sometimes it is easier to get permission to do something if you have knowledge about it, whether it be joining a guild through economics, or being allowed into elven or dwarven sanctuaries through knowing their language and customs.
  
  
  There are however several darker parts to his nature, parts that he nearly desperately tries not to ever show. The usual way his evil side shows is through sarcasm and snide in speech, and sadism and toying with his enemies in battle. This can grow further into a maniacal bloodlust that very few people have ever witnessed, or better said; very few witnesses have survived. It seems as if this state is aggravated by his black magic, and the more he uses it the easier he succumbs to a vile insanity that has little to do with who he was except for what he targets.
  
  
  Delai still remembers everything he did in such a state of mind, but he doesn't show remorse and guilt until he is back to his usual self. It is a rare occurrence, but the fact that it is there has influenced him to the point where he doubts he is worth anything and perhaps the insanity is the reason he tries to be so overly kind and sacrificing in every-day life. Like he desperately wants to make up for all the bad he has done.

  Delai is naturally proficient with black magic or Ateromancy as he likes to call it. Generally this holds things like destruction magic, shadow magic, illusions (including mind tricks) and demonology. Sometimes promising apprentices show talent in toxicology, life-draining and blood magic, but none is able to master all three (some influences from others is possible though, like draining blood magic). Delai falls under the last category.
  
  
  There are some more spells, but those aren't used in battle and take long or a lot of reagents to cast. For example things like charms and symbolic spells, or magical crafting. Most spells listed below are also able to grow better once a higher level of mastery is reached (examples: blood pact allows for senses sharing, full control over the acidity of his blood, imbue more items, etc.)

  - Tenacious Fire
  
  : a peculiar little spell that should be in the arsenal of every person dabbling in black magic, whether it be a witch, warlock or an ateromancer. This fire is pitch black, emits shadows instead of light, and most of all sticks only to that it which hits first. There is no splash damage or really any chance of it spreading beyond the target.
  
  
  At this level the fire is as easy to put out as a normal flame would be, and it is completely separate from the caster so it will die out fairly quick if not concentrated on.
  
  
  
  - Shatter Crystal
  
  : this spell creates a black crystal that shatters in a 120 degree radius in front of Delai, going about 8'-9' far. The shards are fairly big and there are decent gaps between them, meaning they won't immediately be lethal unless they hit a critical spot. It will however knock most people or animals back, unless they are exceptionally large or heavy.
  
  
  The shard can be small or large, depending on casting time and the mana infused, making this a generally all-round spell to work with. The better the control of magic the caster has, the larger the area it hits, and the more damage the spell can do.

  -Trickery Trap
  
  : a fun little glyph spell not every ateromancer knows, or better said, knows how to use. It takes a while to prepare, being a combination of runic and black magic, but it is easy to perfect or to increase the scale without having to know much about black magic. The trap lies in wait for as long as specified, given that there is enough magic to work with; this can be inherent magic, or magic from crystals alike as long as it has a darker nature.
  
  
  Once the trap is activated it will capture the person that treads it with shadowy tendrils. At this level the tendrils can still be cut, and they will release once the magic runs out, which is within one hour give or take a few minutes. There will be no damage or any other effect besides holding the target.
  
  
  
  - Veil of Shadows
  
  : this spell has two uses, depending on how it is cast;
  
  
  The first use is very direct and precise, being cast on only one target for a few minutes and having the side effect of short-term slumber/sedating and amnesia. This allows for the caster to cast the spell without someone freaking out immediately, the only thing they would notice is time passing by quicker and perhaps the idea they took a nap of some sorts. You can easily run past or kill a single target this way, but this spell is fairly mana intensive.
  
  
  The second use loses the power of the first, instead working solely as a blinding spell for no more than half a minute. It however gains the ability of being cast on multiple targets in a large 10' radius, similar to a smokescreen in that sense. It allows for quick getaways to escape a large group of monsters.

  -
  
  State switch
  
  : Delai can control the state of his blood between liquid and crystalline. Giving him the ability to create offensive things like retractable claws and blades, or shields and protective patches that can instantly turn offensive and restrain someone. Only works when he touches the blood, and allows him to maintain the state of his blood whichever temperature it has. It also instantly counteracts wounds, so cuts will crystallize and stop bleeding quick, but they will not heal, eventually he has to have them checked out.

  Haemo Imprint
  
  : Once Delai's blood has been in direct contact with someone's blood he can track this person over a long distance for a time period of about a week before the "smell" wears off. This skill has a very predatory undertone, and his insane side has made a game out of letting his target escape only to crush that hope by hunting him down relentlessly. Perhaps that is why he would rarely if ever use this normally.

  Caustic cruor
  
  : Delai's blood has corrosive properties, but only when it is not a wound made by himself. When a blade slashes him, the first blood will corrode the weapon, and whichever it hits next. This property will not last beyond the first slash though.

  Blood imbue
  
  : A spell that takes a long while to cast, and requires some runic knowledge. Delai can buff a weapon, shield or piece of armour with the user's blood, similar to his sacrificial dagger, but not as powerful a bond. It will wear off after a week and the runes will disappear. Weapons will feel lighter and easier to handle, shields become harder to break and quicker to move and finally armour will offer more protection against piercing, ripping and slashing. The only downside is that Delai can only keep up three of those rune-sets at a time with switching between them taking a while.

  A Sacrificial dagger is used for blood magic, and usually crafted beautifully and strong as it has to last an entire lifetime. There are only a few places where you can get one, and they are always bound by a first blood offer. If it doesn't belong to you, it rejects you, and you can never use it.
  
  
  Daggers each have their different way of rejecting, some become too hot to hold, others make it so you can't find them, there are even daggers that become so heavy you can't possibly lift them. Delai's dagger doesn't reject you immediately, instead you can never cut anything with it, no matter how hard you try to stab or slash, the blade simply doesn't affect any physical thing.
  
  
  The crystal on the handle turns red when the blade has Delai's blood on it. Only his makes it change though, the blood of other people has no effect.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  A Grimoire is a book that is bound to the owner, and though it is often assigned to forbidden or black magic, it can be used in everyday life by any mage. The book is however shrouded in secrets and protective magic, which makes it more appealing to those who don't want their works stolen or read.
  
  
  There are several ways to open a Grimoire, depending on what the user deems necessary; the simpler versions might need a passport, others need the finger print of the owner, in Delai's case it requires a droplet of his blood smeared on the first page, but there are even more advanced, darker Grimoires that require the sacrifice of an animal or even a human.
  
  
  It isn't quite sure where Delai got his, and whether he bought it or not, or if it was made for him. Both his Grimoire and dagger appear to be made by the same person though, marked with an M. Furthermore, a normal Grimoire would contain all the spells someone knows, and as it has a mental link to the owner it will do this automatically even if the person in fact didn't know he had access to new or higher level magic. It would however be impossible to read Delai's Grimoire even if he were to open it for you, being written in some sort of ancient runic language that functions as a secret code.
  
  
  The fact that it is written in such runes does tell something about the person, Delai being well versed in many languages beyond the common tongue and runes. If his usual curious outlook on the world wasn't enough, the fact that he speaks this many languages proves of his extensive education.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  His armour looks something like this, except male, with red pants/sleeves and with only one full glove, the other is just a bracer so he can cut his hand for blood magic. The bracer also holds several vials of either potions or pre-stored blood that he keeps liquid, all he has to do is break them and he can cast without his dagger, though it has slightly less effect than fresh blood.
  
  
  Furthermore he has a belt that holds his Grimoire and dagger and a backpack for travel.
  
  
  The cloth armour makes it easy for him to move and switch positions in battle, though defence is basically non-existent, it allows for him to be agile and swift. Dodging and close combat are very easy in this attire.

  Not the kindest person in the universe.
  
  
  Don't get me wrong, Aoife doesn't go around kicking puppies and laughing like a comic book villain, but she's not the type to give beggars money, either. To put it simply, Aoife is a pragmatic. She rarely judges situations according to what is wrong and what is right, instead she asks herself: "What course of action would be the most beneficial for me?" Needless to say, Aoife doesn't have trouble with accepting jobs other people could potentially consider to be morally reprehensible. She does have her limits, of course, but let's just say that her personal scales are calibrated way more liberally than is customary in this regard.
  
  
  Even though Aoife doesn't try to solve every single issue with violence, she does not shy away from a fight. In fact, combat can be considered her hobby and so she doesn't pass up an opportunity for a 'good' fight since those that can truly challenge her are a rare breed. That being said, Aoife doesn't believe in outdated concepts such as 'honor' and 'not fighting dirty.' Cemeteries are full of good, honorable people who tried to save their reputation, but failed to protect their life. If she discovers you have a weakness, she

  use it against you without hesitation.
  
  
  Aoife is… stubborn and hard headed to say the slightest. She is determined and dedicated to any cause, and once she is given a task she will complete it as efficiently and effectively as she can. Once she accepts a mission, Aoife will see it through till the bitter end; that's one of her few personal rules she follows no matter what. It's mainly because people in her line of business need to be reliable in order to get hired, but still. One of her weaknesses is the fact she can't admit her own mistake, ever. Aoife would rather eat gravel before presenting herself as incompetent.
  
  
  Despite taking a great deal of pride in her fighting skills, Aoife is far from a mindless killing machine. Resourceful and street-smart, the woman excels at problem solving, even in hectic situations when thinking is difficult. 'Panic' is a word that practically doesn't exist in her personal dictionary.
  
  
  Aoife's sense of humor is slightly on the dark side, which unnerves some people. She doesn't let it bother her; in fact, the reactions amuse her, so sometimes she freaks people out on purpose.
