ACCESS TERMINAL :

❯ NAME :[ REDACTED. ]
❯ ALIAS : Reno.
❯ ROLE : Captain.
❯ AGE : Thirty-two ( 32 ).
❯ PRONOUNS : Non-binary. Doesn't care what pronouns you use, but will never refer to themselves as strictly male or female.
❯ WEAPON : Old wooden pistol with missing paint.
❯ TIME ONBOARD : Four years.

APPEARANCE :

2zxxraq.png
[ DATE REDACTED. ] Reno is an amputee. After being so adamant about saving a leg that would clearly decline in function they have an awful inner turmoil that if they lose their leg they would be less, that they would be weak. But eventually, they come to terms with their loss by using another entirely cybernetic leg that is detachable, but incapable of long walks.
❯ HAIR : Brown with early signs of achromotrichia in the front.
❯ EYES : Brown.
❯ HEIGHT : 180cm or 5'11.
❯ ATTIRE : Reno wears a mustard yellow bomber jacket with several holes and tears in it. Some were hastily patched together with brown fabric from piles of old clothes that they grew too big for. Their pants are black and her boots are a deep brown with knotted laces.
❯ OTHER : Reno is androgynous, easily attracting the attention of men and women alike with their prominent eyebrows and broad shoulders, but conversely, Reno has deep stretch marks on their hips and cellulite on their thighs. They have tattoos scattered across their arms. Reno is medium-sized with some body fat in their stomach.

MAINFRAME ACCESS DENIED :

❯ PERSONALITY :
j5clch.png
Reno is soft-spoken, but not without very strong opinions. They will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. They are decisive and strong-willed and will rarely use that energy for personal gain. Reno will act with creativity, imagination, conviction, and sensitivity not to create advantage, but to create balance. If anything, Reno is attracted to egalitarianism and karma because they believe that nothing would help the world so much as using love and compassion to the soften the hearts of the hard.

Reno easily makes connections with others, and has a talent for warm, sensitive language, preferring to speak in human terms rather than with pure logic and fact. They take great care of other's feelings. And despite their gentle splendour, they are the type to avoid confrontation. Reno is alarmed at strong responses and is highly vulnerable to conflict and criticism. They can be tripped up in areas where their idealism and determination are more of a liability than an asset.

PROFILE, REDACTED :

❯ HISTORIA : LOADING : SCAVENGER, MECHANIC, CAPTAIN? CLICK.
16p34o.jpg
They are a scavenger when they shoot Montello. [ ERROR. ] They are a Doub — [ ERROR. ] A Rabbit when they shoot Montello. Before they were a Rabbit, they were a mechanic and worked below deck in the engine room with fire and steam in their face. Montello took their leg and laughed, so they shot them in the face.

Reno's been the captain of the Rabbit Catcher since then, keeping their share of memories and secrets aboard the ship, and working for the government as a courier pays good money, especially with the dangerous deliveries they've been on. But they don't mind. Being a Rabbit means having a good cybernetic leg and dining like kings every night.

❯ RELATIONSHIPS : Reno's oldest friend aboard the Rabbit Catcher is Shephard. After the first year of their captain-ship there was a large crew walk-out after a particularly harrowing delivery that left very few of the original members left. Shephard was one who stayed and for that, Reno is grateful. His loyalty cannot be repaid enough. Frequently, they will go below deck when their leg is particularly hurting and sit in the carpenter's room with him and discuss their favourite things: ship designs. Dreams for the Rabbit.

Next is Henry Gates, for whom respect goes both ways. Henry has proven to be an invaluable asset to the Rabbit Catcher, wise and militant when Reno is unsure and soft. They are the perfect quartermaster and captain duo. Yin and yang. The Rabbit Catcher would not have weathered its storms without Henry Gates and Reno working together.

Calder is an odd one. Three years ago he pestered Reno into letting him join the Rabbit Catcher and they turned him down six times. Calder would always be at the docks waiting for them to return from a delivery to ask if he could join again. After the sixth time and a polite conversation with Shephard (who advised them that they would be handy to have onboard. They were childhood friends!), Reno relented. They have never regretted their decision because Calder quickly proved himself to be a fit boatswain for the Rabbit.

BASICS

Name: Iris Bowen
Age: 24 (October 14).
Libra.
Gender: CisFemale.
Orientation: Pansexual.
Role: Navigator.
Time Onboard: 6 months.
Weapons: Revolver that only has the capacity to hold 5 rounds and a gold plated bowie knife.
Goal: To contribute to society and, ideally, learn what is beyond the sandstorms.

Appearance: Modelling herself after the pirate stories she often indulged in as a child, Iris wears a white long-sleeved blouse, dark trousers and knee high boots when aboard the Rabbit Catcher. Due to her slim figure, Iris wears a belt at all times to keep her commonly loose clothing where it should be. Styling her hair into anything takes up too much time she could be spending doing something productive so she leaves her blonde locks to hang loose down her back, sometimes pulling it up into a simple ponytail if the winds are too harsh.
[/div] [div class="tabsContent tabsContentPersonality" style="display: none;"]
PERSONA

Personality: Iris classes herself as an inquisitive individualist. Her curious nature and imaginative mind gives her a strong sense of adventure, something she longs to experience which can sometimes gives her an unrealistic outlook on the world around her and the world she wants to live in. Among her virtues is her ability to be easy-going and receptive to others' ideas, even if they do not typically line up with her own. However, when something isn't making sense or she is struggling to understand the facts, Iris can grow impatient often to her own detriment. Though these tendencies can sometimes across as borderline obsessive, Iris understands the need to moderate her self-indulgent cravings to remain grounded.
[/div] [div class="tabsContent tabsContentAbout" style="display: none;"]
BIOGRAPHY

Biography: As a child, Iris and her sister Ruelle thrived off of their historian father's bedtime stories. Among their favourites were stories of pirates, thieves that took what they wanted and sailed the seas. Iris became obsessed with the idea of Navigators, so rare in history that they were often abducted and forced into piracy for their unique navigation using the stars as a guide. She dedicated herself to the education, learning all she could not just about the modern ways of navigating using technology but also celestial navigation.

When Ruelle fled ADAM to become a pirate and discover the truths beyond the sandstorms, Iris faltered. Where Iris was curious, Ruelle was obsessive. Their father urged Iris not to follow her sisters footsteps and to use her knowledge to benefit the government as a courier. So, Iris did exactly that, not to just become an integral part of society but to hopefully uncover the truth of sandstorms on her own terms.
[/div] [div class="tabsContent tabsContentOthers" style="display: none;"]
RELATIONSHIPS

⤷ Quartermaster, Henry Gates: Attracted to Gates' pirate ways, Iris likes to spend her time requesting stories he may have for his many years at sea. When she's not daydreaming about stars, she thinks of ways Gates may just be her long lost Uncle.

⤷ Boatswain, Calder Holt: Iris warmed to Calder almost immediately after joining the crew. Even as he kept to himself, she saw him as a kindred spirit in how Calder had a passion for the Rabbit Catcher. She enjoys trying to bring him further out of his shell and always seeks him out when something is bothering her.

⤷ Surgeon, Hayes Dalton: Once Hayes joined the Rabbit Catcher, Iris was among the first to approach him and make him feel more at home on the ship. When she learned they had a similar family situation, Iris tends to confide in Hayes about her ever changing feelings towards her runaway sister.

⤷ Gunner, Aster Zhou: Iris has a lot of admiration for Aster with her skillset and enjoys her company. Even so, with how similar they are in their stubbornness; they can butt heads often but it never escalates to anything serious.

C A L D E R
THE BASICS

Calder Holt
Boatswain
Gender: Male

Age: 31

Time onboard: Almost three years

Goal: Being a simple man with no particular high ambitions, he is most content doing what he loves. Rabbit Catcher stole his heart upon first sight and, if he can, he will spend the rest of his days aboard it doing what he does best.

Weapons:
-Dagger; carried at the belt.
-Fists; while he isn’t confrontational and despises violence, he can hold his own in close-range fighting.

Appearance: One of his most distinguishable features is his rust-colored curly hair tied back in a small tail at the nape of his neck. Another is the pronged scar across the left cheek due to a childhood accident involving a ship’s pulley hook. His other features are rather average and forgettable, which seems to complement the fact that he dresses plainly as his clothing is limited to loose white buttoned shirts (with constantly missing buttons and sleeves rolled up to the elbows) and worn-out brown pants and boots that allow for all his movements about the ship. He also has a tattered red scarf, gifted by his mother, that serves as a makeshift blanket when he is out on the decks at night. He stands at the height of 5’11” with a lean build and perpetually calloused hands from years working on ships. Nails are bitten down, and feet are bare when he goes off on one of his thorough inspections. A short string of rope is often tied around his wrist or hanging from his belt.
PERSONALITY

Personality: Loyal, hard-working, quiet, observant

With his deep passion (some may argue to the point of unhealthy obssession) for airships, Calder keeps to himself by choice and prefers the company of sails, cables, and riggings over the company of people. He is a man of a few words, allowing his actions to speak for themselves. There are only two occasions when he is most talkative: when on the topic of the Rabbit and around those who he is most comfortable with. When gathered with the crew, he tends to gravitate towards the sidelines and fall into the background. However, his calm demeanor should not be mistaken for passiveness; Calder possesses a strong sense of loyalty and is quick to jump into action if he must - especially if his captain and crew is at threat. Upon initial impression, he may come off rather stiff and guarded as making small talk is certainly not his strong suit. Overall, he makes for a rather approachable crewmate as Calder is respectable towards all.

Aboard the Rabbit Catcher, Calder is often walking along the yard of the mast and sails, or tucked away in the quiet pockets of the airship. When he is not occupied with tasks on deck, he spends his leisure time tying a multitude of nautical knots he has learned over the years. He spends most of his nights above deck and under the stars rather than in his own cabin.
RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships:
-Captain Reno:
While it was three years ago when Calder had first set his eyes on the Rabbit Catcher and met Captain Reno, it took months following their initial exchange before he was accepted as part of the crew. Upon each rejection, his persistence brought him back to the same spot on the docks and Cal would watch the Rabbit load and unload her cargo. It was sheer determination that fueled his audacity to point out all the mistakes being made and to explain to Reno what he could do better. Needless to say, Calder holds high respect towards his captain. While he has an irrational trepidation that Reno may boot him off the ship if they so pleases, his passion in his field of expertise triumphs most things; thus, he isn’t afraid to speak up and stand his ground if he is certain that his way is the right way.

-Navigator Iris Bowen:
Seeing Iris as a kindred spirit due to their equaled passions within their respective fields, Calder regards her with admiration and fondness that are not readily expressed. True to his modest nature, Calder had initially kept to himself when Iris first joined the crew though it didn’t take too long for him to open up around her. While he may be terrible at conversations, it helps that he genuinely enjoys listening to Iris talk about stars. Amongst the crew members aboard the Rabbit, Cal welcomes her company most of all.
-Carpenter Shepard Ross:
Growing up within the same working-class community and small neighborhood, Calder and Shepard had built a friendship that saw them both through the ups and downs of their childhood years. Naturally, as life often goes, different circumstances led them to part ways in friendship. However, upon boarding the Rabbit, their friendship and brotherhood was once more renewed. For Calder, it was rather a relief to encounter a familiar face and to work with someone whom he could depend on. Cal continues to regard Shepard with respect and as an older brother. Their collaboration and communication are seamless most times than not. Shepard is one of the few people amongst the crew who Calder is most comfortable around, sometimes dropping by the carpenter’s workspace for quiet company.
-Surgeon Hayes Dalton:
Whether it is due to their different backgrounds or simply the clash between their unusual quirks, Cal and Hayes don’t often see eye to eye as crewmates. While he isn’t too fazed by Hayes’ condescending manners directed at him, Calder isn’t likely to stand by if his crewmates are at the receiving end. Though Cal prefers silence over conversation, he does speak up anytime Hayes’ seems to be questioning his work aboard the ship. From their brief exchanges thus far, it is clear that the boatswain’s more assertive side is only brought on by his interactions with the surgeon.
BIOGRAPHY

Biography: His love for airships was born from his father’s own passion and service on the battlefield. At a time when the skies were not polluted with violence and gunpowder, his father had often taken young little Calder aboard many airships and nothing Calder had ever seen after would compare to the beauty of such powerful, graceful mechanisms. Plummeting down from the skies, his father greeted death on the battlefield; it was a death worthy of a man who spent more years in the air and across different lands than in the small corners of his home with his wife and eight year old son. For the following years, it was only Calder and his mother. It was a simple, quiet life, and that suited them just fine. His mother labored away long hours at the factory to support them both while Calder himself sought odd-end jobs by the age of eleven. Out of the various jobs, Calder’s fascination for ships was rekindled when he met an old carpenter who built hulls for ships - thus, the beginning of his journey immersed in the world of airships.

Life had offered his mother a second chance where she had found love again upon meeting a merchant passing through town. From their marriage came half-sister Georgia, whom Calder adored and protected dearly. He found that being an older brother came effortlessly and, whenever he was away from home, he often thought about Georgia and brought back trinkets for her. While he has no animosity towards his step-father and the new family his mother had found for herself, Calder soon grew restless at home and was in need to start his own life. It didn’t take long for Calder to set out and find work aboard a ship; from there, he worked his way upwards as he began merely as a cabin boy with no experience on decks or in air. It was years later when Calder bestowed his eyes on the Rabbit Catcher. The sight of her magnificent build and design had called out to him and, with nearly a decade of experience under his belt, Calder approached Rabbit’s captain with the conviction and assurance of a young man whose skills would prove worthy and useful for such a ship as Rabbit Catcher.

Personal + Occupation Name: Shepard Ross
Alias: Shep
Age: 37 Years Old
Height: 5’10
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Role: Carpenter
Time onboard: Three Years
Weapons: Short knob revolver and hunting knife
Goal: To bring closure to the work he does and has been doing in the Rabbit. To retire happy with food in his belly, a woman in his bed and a place to call home.
Other: Likes cats and horror flicks

Appearance Hair: Longer dark brown hair sported over his eyes and swept to the sides.
Eyes: Naturally squinting dark brown colored
Physique: Stocky build with wide shoulders, thick arms and forearms
Attire: Shep seems to always be dirty. Stained by grease, by dust, by something - always. He has pairs and pairs of the same clothes, dark blue buttoned up shirts and matching pants. He’s always wearing work boots as he’s always working and tends to listen to music on his tune-machine as he fixes sh*t.

Background Biography: Shepard has always been an arial mechanic - fixing ships since his fingers could articulate. His old man did the same and passed on the workload over to his boy. Unlike his father however, Shepard did not work on ships of war. He typically managed the less “ironclad” fleets - those meant for transport and delivery. The Rabbit has been the closest thing to warship and the biggest vessel he’s ever had to work on - and sometimes it shows. For a mechanic by trade, working on such a beauty is a privilege but one of the toughest jobs he’s ever had. If his father still held breath however, he’d be proud.

He started in the Rabbit among others with the same skill set, but the job required lots of patience and guts. The Rabbit was tasked by the government to deal with some dangerous minds which got the crew into life and death situations at times. Many mechanics (if not all) were not built for the battlefield, but Shep didn’t mind it. He always wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and this was the closest he would come to it. It’s safe to say he was the only mechanic crazy enough to stick around.

Character Personality: Shep’s strongest attribute is his loyalty. He’s stuck around in the Rabbit for three years not only for himself but for both the government and his Captain. He’s a carefree individual about most things, but extremely hardworking and always trying to stay one step ahead of the game. However, the man is not a pushover. He’s not afraid of confrontation - especially if his work is questioned - or if he is being forced to do something he does not want to. He can get a little hotheaded sometimes after long hours of work, but can wash away those feelings after a little r&r. To sum it all up, Shep is easy to get along with, a great friend, a strong individual and a magnificent worker. Get along or get moving.

Relationships Captain Reno: After the Rabbit Catcher overcame nearly impossible odds, most of the crew members saw Captain Reno's leadership inadequate. Shep on the other hand saw a person who got them through the unthinkable, so he stuck around. Through the good and the bad, Shep has been fixing up the Rabbit for three years by Reno's side. His loyalty has proven his worth and gained the Captain's utmost respect. Reno coming from humble beginnings has grown to a mutual understanding for the struggles of a carpenter. The two have developed a long-lasting friendship that is difficult to rival.

Boatswain Calder Holt: Despite their difference in age, Shep and Calder were tight-knit friends - practically brothers. Shep took the younger Calder under his wing, protecting him, showing him the world through his own eyes and shaping him into a man - like any big brother would do. Unfortunately times changed and war called Shep's name, drifting the two apart. The wrath of man started destroying the world, the same thing that buried Shep's father. However, the universe - for one reason or another - brought the brothers back together for one last ride on the Rabbit Catcher.

  • Name: Hayes Dalton
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 26
  • Role: Surgeon
  • Sexuality: Bisexual
  • Time onboard: close to 2 months
  • Goal: He joined the crew because he quite literally had no other choice. He sees himself as overqualified. He used to do risky, challenging work on people who were more often than not very important and affluent, using cutting edge technology. When he first started working on the Rabbit Catcher, he wanted to get out again as quickly as possible, but that didn't prove to be feasible. He still sees this job as a temporary slowdown, but he's beginning to think that if he's going to be here, he might as well embrace it.
  • Height: 6'2" (188 cm)
  • Weight: 167 lbs (76 kg)
  • Eye color: Brown
  • Hair color: Black
  • Clothes: Has a good fashion sense, always dressed in fitted designer clothes (when not in scrubs).
  • Weapons: He has been fencing since he was six, but it's not that useful of a skill in real life. He knows some self defense too, but his ability is only rudimentary and slightly rusty. He can still throw a good punch though. The one thing he has that would count as an actual weapon, is one of those high-tech incapacitating taser guns that is a must-have if you're notoriously loaded and don't want to get robbed in the sketchier corners of ADAM.
  • Personality: He is intelligent and well-spoken, but still witty. Always making an effort to be calm and collected, he tries not to let emotions get the better of him. He is slightly cold and doesn't warm up to others quickly, often interacting in a more professional manner with his crewmates. He also has difficulties trusting others, since he learnt from a young age that people always want something from you. Nevertheless, he is still extroverted and able to let loose, especially if alcohol is involved. Even though he's often serious, he still does love having fun. Granted, his idea of fun might vary from these people's, since he used to have the best entertainment at his disposal; fast rides, good food and vip lounges, the newest gadgets and the ability to go anywhere he wanted, whenever he wanted. He struggles to come to terms with the fact that that's not his lifestyle anymore, but oh well, the cheap booze tastes better anyway. He is a bit oblivious to the "real world", since he's always had a pretty sheltered, comfortable life.
He prides himself on being educated and opinionated
and enjoys a good debate. One might say he is a little too occupied with his appearance, both with the way he dresses and grooms himself and with the impression he makes on others. He slightly looks down on the other crew members and is a bit arrogant. If somebody gets on his nerves, he will let them feel it. Despite his polite demeanor he does have a sharp tongue. None of his crew mates know his true reasons for being on board.

  • Biography: Hayes grew up in a very influential, high society family.
He has three siblings who he used to be close to. His parents, on the other hand, he didn't get to see very often and the kids were practically raised by nannies. Still, he always got what he wanted and never had to take no for an answer.
While his two older brothers and sister took up responsibility and started becoming involved in the family affairs, as the youngest he was essentially free to do what he wanted, provided it was an occupation with a high amount of prestige tied to it, of course.
He became a surgeon, which was a common occurence on his mother's side of the family, specifically a neurosurgeon. And a very good one at that, working at one of the largest private hospitals of the mothership, where only the upper class could afford to go and get the best treatment available.
A few years into his career, when he was really only just starting out, he started getting along even less with his family and getting into disputes with them more often.
One day he confronted his family because he didn't agree with some of the shady things they were involved in.
In retaliation, they cut him off and with his father no longer giving "donations" to the hospital, Hayes got fired.
He ended up with no money of his own and with his parents no longer getting him an entrance ticket into anywhere he likes. By the competitive nature of his field of work, he had no choice but to ultimately take up an offer to work on a government vessel.
It was a courier ship. The pay was as low as it gets and the ship wasn't anywhere near the standards he was used to from his family's private, far more luxurious airship.
He sees this as a temporary solution, until he finds something better, even though he suspects that his parents are actively closing down opportunities for him so he'll come crawling back to them. He would never do that, though, he promised himself he'd severed his ties for good.
  • Relationships: Iris Bowen (Navigator): Iris did her best to make him feel welcome when he first joined the crew and is one of the people he gets along with the best. He appreciates her kindness and intelligence and the conversations they have.
Calder Holt (Boatswain): He finds Calder irritating to say the least. Their interactions are mostly brief and seldom pleasant. At first, Hayes tried his best to remain civil towards him, but something about Calder really ticks him off, be it his odd fixation on the airship or his refusal to speak to Hayes except when he's smart-mouthing him.

Name: Henry Gates

Age: 50

Gender: Male

Role: Quartermaster

Time onboard: 3 Years

Goal: Gate''s goal is quite simple really. This is another chance for him to serve with a purpose, and in his eyes Shepard a crew through the trials and tribulations of the world they now find themselves in. Whilst he may not have an ultimate end goal so to speak, the whole reason he signed up on 'The Rabbit Catcher' was to continue doing what he loves. Being on the deck of an airship.

Appearance:

Hair/Beard: Having lost his battle against his receding hairline, he decided to do the honourable thing, and shave the rest of it off. His beard on the other hand, has remained strong despite the retreat and surrender of the rest of his hair. Though once jet black, age and invariably work related stress, have left it flecked with grey.

Eyes: Dark brown. Quite small, and generally squinting, force of habit from a lifetime of watching the horizon.

Physique: Though getting on in his years Henry is still a powerfully built individual. Broad of shoulder and thick of neck. Admittedly he isn’t quite as firm as he used to be (especially around the stomach), however he is still a man to be reckoned with, more than happy to give the youngsters a run for their money.

Height: 5’9

593501

Clothing: More often than not he is still found in his old naval service jacket. It may be a bit worn in places, with numerous patches in place, but he still wears it with considerable pride.

593502

Weapons: Cutlass for close quarters, and a Repeater Rifle

Personality: The two things that Gates prizes above all else, is Loyalty and Professionalism, entirely down to his long and successful career in the navy. Despite this however he is not a tyrannical officer. Seeing as his place as between the Captain and the rest of the crew, he is never scared to get his hands dirty, happy to muck in and help the crew with whatever problems they encounter, and very much emphasising an open door policy for any troubles they may have. Despite his rough exterior, inside his head lies a wiry intelligent brain, more than capable to maintain the day to day running of the ship should the Captain be indisposed. He’s fiercely protective of the younger crewmen underneath him, he’s seen too many die on the ships hes served, and whilst he tries to act as a fatherly figure, providing wisdom and protection, the loss of each crewmember hits him hard, even harder as he tries to maintain his confident façade, for the good of everyone’s morale.

Biography: Gates is a naval man through and through. He spent his life growing up on various airships. His parents had been merchants, travelling between various ships and settlements. Already more than knowledgeable in aviation, he chose to leave civilian life behind, joining the Air Force of the United Government. Here he served for near enough 30 years, aboard various warships from small escorts, up to larger dreadnoughts. This saw him fight in campaigns against Pirate forces, to the more mundane protection and paroles of trade and supply routes. Despite his long service he never made the step up to getting a commission, preferring the role of a non commissioned officer, his lack of grace or class helping him to continue to bond with the ratings beneath him, and was soon proven to be a good communicator between the lower ranks, and the commissioned officers of the ships he served on. At the age of 46 he finally retired from the service, and after a year of retirement, he was already chomping at the bit for a new role. He was recommended the position onboard ‘The Rabbit Catcher’ by an old naval colleague, now on the Admiralty Board and having some sway within the Government. As such Gates has now spent the last 3 years serving as Quartermaster of ‘The Rabbit Catcher’, a role he has jumped at with great gusto of a man many years his junior.

Relationships:

Gates and Reno have served together for around 3 years now, the pair are like chalk and cheese in some respects, the softly spoken young Captain, and the loud brash, and now long in the tooth, Quartermaster. Despite these differences after 3 years, their working relationship is still as strong as ever, Gates is more than happy to lend his years of experience, or be the perennial bad guy when the Captain has need of such an attack dog.

To Gates a crew is far more than a simple collection of people, brought together by nothing more than a job. The crew is a family, and the ship their home, and it is up to every member to make sure that this familial relationship remains strong in the face of hardship and adversity. Given his age, Gates has quite quickly adopted the position of Grandfather, or perhaps uncle of the crew, his aim to pass on his own knowledge and expertise, and make sure that they all come out in one piece on the other side. As not only one of the youngest crew members, but also one of the most recent additions, Gates has a soft spot for the navigator Iris. More than happy to regale her with tales of his naval past, perhaps seeing her as the daughter which he never had.

Name: Alexandra Ryers

Age: 22 (October 26, - - - -)

Gender: Female

Role: Boatswain's Mate

Time onboard: Just over a month.

Goal: Life on an airship means free housing, free food, and a healthy paycheck for services rendered. Isn't that why we're all here, at the end of the day? Then again, there's always more to the story, isn't there?

Appearance:

Hair: Warm chestnut brown left questionably long, considering her employment. Typically worn loose, though occasionally tied into an equally lazy ponytail.

Eyes: Remarkably -not to mention uncomfortably- piercing. An effect brought on by a habitually narrowed gaze and a strikingly sharp green hue.

Physique: Not exceptionally imposing, lean and admittedly somewhat underfed and a tad bit overworked, but her slightly above-average height and fit build come together to make her a healthy, capable crewmember.

Height: 5'8" (~173cm)

Clothing: Never one to put form before function, Alexandra's wardrobe could only very generously be described as limited. Flip a coin. Heads? White shirt, brown coveralls, thick workman's boots, gloves, aviator's goggles. Tails? Grey shirt, tan coveralls, boots, gloves, goggles. The unthinkable happens and it land on its side? She'll throw an overcoat on and call it formal attire. Even if you were to ignore the patches and reworked seams, it wouldn't exactly be elegant. Still, it has a scrappy sort of charm to it, eh?

Weapons: In the event of a significant clash, Alexandra has taken to the boarding pike, favouring its longer reach and relative ease of use. Otherwise? There's no better weapon than the one at hand.

Name: Katrielle Steele

Gender: Female

Role: Gunner

Time onboard: A few weeks

Goal: She doesn’t have anything else to do(Or anything else at all)

Appearance: She hasn’t lived the kindest life and the map of scars across her body reflects that. Usually she wears simpler neater clothes than pictured, but she still owns those clothes for sentimental reasons. She is a solid six foot seven and while she is still somewhat lean she has put on more muscle.

Weapons: Kat is good at three things. Running the guns, weapon-smithing and fighting. She devotes almost all her time that she doesn’t spend maintaining the guns training. She has a firm rule when it comes to a new weapon she encounters. She will either get one or make one for herself, and then she will work with it until she is an at least functional fighter with it. She has never run into a weapon or fighting style she doesn’t immediately want to try and try herself against. She has a remarkable talent for picking up new weapons and fighting styles, which extends to reading opponents. This makes determining what she might bring to any particular fight essentially random, although she does have a few particular favorites that she keeps stored. This gives her a remarkable amount of versatility, but it does mean she is rarely a true master of her weapon of the moment. What makes her a truly exceptional fighter is her ability to swap in the moment of the fight. When she is truly in the heat of the moment she tends to steal opponents weapons as she fights, relying on unpredictability, speed and strength. That plus her agility and penchant for acrobatics tend to make her a distinctly difficult opponent.

Personality: Kat seems to ever be the consummate professional to a degree that can be a tad off-putting, especially in the relatively enclosed space of a ship. She never seems to socialize much, showing up for meals and mostly keeping to herself. She is undeniably an expert at her job, skilled at both keeping the weapons at top function, and using them in battle. She can be a tad territorial around her work and personal spaces, along with being a bit of a perfectionist, both of which tends to put people slightly further off. When she does properly interact with people she tends to be brusque to the point of almost, but not quite, rudeness.

That is the surface she presents, but it is a little more complicated. She isn’t quite anti social and she isn’t remotely misanthropic. To put it in simple terms she’s just completely useless at interacting with other people. She can manage in situations with specific protocols and patterns, but when things move away from that she has a tendency to shut down. She generally prefers to keep things short and to the point so she can get back to her training or her work. There is an exception to her usual demeanor, and that is primarily around exhibitions of remarkable skill, or remarkable weapons crafting. She still isn’t exactly comfortably social, but she can’t help a certain level of excited interest.

There are a few things she tends to keep a little closer to her chest. For one she is deeply, painfully aware of the effect her appearance tends to have on people, and while she has learned to use the intimidation factor as a weapon when needed, she dislikes being seen intimidating. For all her brusque demeanor and distance, she is much easier to befriend than she seems, she just isn’t very good at showing it. Lastly she does have a bit of a past, and it shows in more than just her scars. She is perpetually somewhat hyper aware of her surroundings, and while she is difficult to surprise, doing so does not go well. She has other issues and oddities, but she mostly hides them. On a brighter, final note, she is genuinely quite kind and thoughtful, but usually tends to only show it in indirect ways or ways that can’t necessarily be connected to her.

Biography: Six years ago Kat was apprenticed to an ex-navy master gunner. She trained with that gunner, learning the ins and outs of working a ship’s guns. She took to that training like a duck to water, and by year four had made a very small name for herself, both for making guns and for competing at wielding them. When six years were up she was declared ready to move on. More accurately she was very gently pushed out the door by her teacher, who was firmly of the opinion that she needed to move on. She was mostly floating around navy ships and navy bars considering what to do next. With her skill and training a military ship would have snapped her up in a heartbeat, but she hadn't signed up yet when the captain approached her. The Rabbit Catcher needed a gunner and Katrielle's name had come up. On a whim, she took the job and joined the crew.

She seems like a perfectly normal gunner, as much of a contradiction in terms as that tends to be. To an extent, she is. There are odd points here and there though. Her scars aren’t immediately bizarre, gunner work isn’t exactly perfectly safe, but the scars are old, and officially she started training as a gunner six years ago. Her fighting skill is another odd note. Her expertise with firearms is expected, and most gunners have at least a few more tricks up their sleeve, but even when outside combat she moves like a fighter. She has the general patterns and expertise of someone who has dedicated their life to fighting. Really though the key point to anyone who got a little too curious would likely be her existence before six years ago, or rather her lack of it.

Before six years ago Katrielle Steele did not exist on any records. It doesn’t help that she is rather distinctly older than she looks. Very few people know much about it, and she is the only one who knows the full story. Anyone digging a little deeper through official channels would soon hit a wall, with nothing to be found. They would then be shortly thereafter visited by an official person or two depending on who they are. Somebody with just the right connections might find a little more, but what they found out would mostly be another wall. That wall would have a couple things attached, mostly an endorsement and a warning to not push too much. Her history is thoroughly classified, but also firmly in her past now. Shadier information gathering will likely find nothing at all except maybe an information broker or two who noticed her apprenticeship and have the same questions. Nobody in the underworld knows her as Katrielle.

Relationships:
  • The Captain: The Captain sought her out and recruited her. She feels some gratitude towards them, albeit not exactly in a simple way. On a more personal level she regards them as a friend. She likes their quiet, capable force of will.

Alias Name:
Giancarlo 'Jonny' Giaccada

Real Name:
???????

Gender:
Male

Age:
31

Role:
Cook

Time Onboard:
Two years

Goals:
SURFACE GOAL (which he has explained to the crew in conversation):
To get out, explore the world and find the perfect glass of ale.

SECRET GOALS:
To ensure a certain 'modified' letter gets into the hands of a certain pirate captain.
To find the whereabouts of his wife and children and persuade them to enter into safety.
To pay off a certain 'debt' owed to the government.
Take vengeance upon a ruthless government admiral.

Appearance:
Jonny Giaccada was handsome once, a dashing playboy with a sparkle in his eyes who (at least in his own imagination) could melt the hearts of even the frostiest maidens. Yet time (and years of cheekily 'sampling' the choicest cuts of his cooking) has withered his once sharp features, leaving only a chiselled jawline and teasing lopsided grin as testaments to this former glory. His colossal 6'4'' hides ample muscle under his alcoholic's beer belly and broadening figure - this stature, combined with his shaved head, give him scope for roguish intimidation when he requires it. Nevertheless, the overwhelming aura of Jonny's presence is one of whimsy and mystery. Squinting constantly behind his thick-lensed, ramshackle spectacles gives him the appearance of a high-functioning sleep-walker (aided by the strangely-graceful stumbling of his frequent drunkenness); yet should one manage to catch a rare glimpse into his dark eyes, they are hit with a mixture of sorrow and secrecy. Eyes that could tell a thousand stories. And a voice that does. With a neutral accent and subtle accentuation in his tone, Jonny has an engaging and entertaining voice that betrays nothing of his upbringing - a perfect radio voice.

Jonny's wardrobe is changeable, though it usually consists of a simple brown long-sleeved top and baggy shorts over a set of sturdy ankle-length boots. What always remains, no matter the temperature, is a pair of fingerless gloves, the colour and material of which changes dependant on whether he is cooking or not. He has not and will not show his bare hands to anybody on the ship. Further more, though he usually covers up his arms, when revealed they are seen to be scarred in a number of places. 'Knife juggling,' Jonny will explain with his usual poker-faced half-grin.

Weapons:
Jonny is very talented with knives, both cooking utensils and purpose-built throwing knives. Though rarely shown, he is also clearly experienced with firearms such as pistols and good old-fashioned muskets.

Personality:
Tough day out on deck? Need to get out of your own head? Not to fear - just head down to ol' Jonny's place for a swig and a story!

With his whimsical grin and a parable for every occasion, Jonny has self-styled himself as a playboy-stroke-storyteller. With dinner in the oven and a flask of red wine already half-empty in his hand, he'll sweep you up into some wild adventure and distract you from the weeks woes with wisely-chosen words and well-timed japes. Frequently he speaks of days gone by like a man double his age sharing tales with an enraptured son, treating the crew-members with a sort of fatherly pride and consideration. However, he's not all talk, and is more than willing to lend an ear and shoulder should the crew desire. His mere presence brings an otherworldly peace.

Yet there's also a weight to it, and sometimes in the quieter moments his stature belies a conflicted sadness. Often inquiries spurned from stories and conversations are met with a poker-faced 'that's a story for another time'. When asked about the deeper questions, Jonny's outlook often seems bitter, and yet he weaves his narratives like a dreamer longing for something more, hopefulness at odds with erstwhile hopelessness. Talking to Jonny feels more like reading a book than chatting with somebody - you come out of the other side with some intriguing, if ultimately shallow, insight and the sense you've been talking to a ghost, rather than a man. As such, Jonny is distanced from the rest of the crew, even those he seems to get along well with, bearing reluctant loneliness as he consigns himself to his quarters.

Jonny is a high-functioning alcoholic, bearing his addiction without regret or shame as he downs an unhealthy quantity of the sweet stuff pretty much daily. This near-constant drunkenness effects him exponentially; it seems to have little effect on him at first, save for the gracious clumsiness of his step, but when he is well over the limit he sharply declines, becoming nonsensical, catatonic and occasionally violent, and need to be taken care of by the rest of the crew. Many have tried to get him to stop, but he finds himself incredibly grumpy and lacking motivation without a good drink, so instead the crew have learnt to handle him (and vice versa, he has learnt to restrain himself a little). He loves nothing more than dragging others down the slippery slope of incomprehensible drunkenness, sat around a table in his eatery playing games until late o'clock. And quite the game-master he is too, evidently hiding a strategic quick-wittedness behind his whimsy and recklessness, never showing his hand until the final moment.

At heart, Jonny values self-freedom over everything else, whether that be freedom of lifestyle, freedom of choice or freedom of expression. Critical of authority and cynical of restraint, he encourages free-spirited hedonism by his lifestyle and words. He values the pleasures of life, be they grand or small. Nevertheless, though he charms and jests with many, he is surprisingly restrained around ladies when one might expect him to be a flirt and a dandy. Nevertheless, there are occasional flashes of darkness in him - moments of rage, bitterness and petty vengefulness. Such hedonistic values arrogantly emphasise the individual, making him unaware of the ego and underlying selfishness behind many of his actions. Though peaceful on the surface, Jonny has a bad habit of bottling up long-held frustration and then releasing it to devastating effect. Furthermore, his playfulness and seeming belittling of even the most serious circumstance can rub certain crew members up the wrong way.

What place does such a wizened dreamer have on a ship like this? What does he want, and what does he have to hide?

Biography:
Little concrete is widely known about Jonny's history. However, when extremely drunk, bits and pieces of information have been excavated from him. All this has served is to further the mystery, especially as this information is frequently at odds with itself.

Jonny grew up on a smaller, backwater airship town, the second son of a respected naval official. He also was born as the only son to a long generation of chefs aboard ADAM. He has spoken fondly his father, a head chef of Italian ancestry, yet he has also spoken with disdain of a restrictive, puritanical father who kept him and his brother under close scrutiny. He claims to have lived all his life as a budding chef, a claim supported by his dexterity with his knives; yet he speaks of naval legends and high-seas capers with the expertise and passion that only first-hand experience could teach. Another tale says he was once a part of a band of travelling entertainers, where he claims to have learnt how to juggle knives. Still other tales explain how he learnt how to tinker with machinery from an eccentric old sailor. He has a strong relationship with a couple of high-ranked admirals, the origin of which he remains coy with - he's claimed the relationship is a familial connection due to his father, and also that these officials were frequents of his restaurant. Many other tall tales of his history have been uttered, more discernibly dismissed as fiction.

Formal governmental records shed some certainty on the situation. Jonny served as a chef in a restaurant called the Skylark aboard ADAM for two years, before spending one year stationed as ship cook aboard a diplomats vessel and then finding his place on the Rabbit Catcher. He claims he won his place on the ship after serving the captain his 'magnum opus' four-bird roast; ship records indicate that he was put onto the ship by governmental decree however. He has also claimed to have a wife somewhere, and in the rare times which he mentions her, his eyes go cold and his gaze distant...

Abilities, Skills and Interests:
~ Mechanical Tinkering: Jonny has an interest in robotics, cybernetics, prosthetics and inventions. Though he doesn't get to exercise this interest often, his ears prick when conversation turns to these matters, and he is able to diagnose and fix mechanical faults in smaller constructions easily. This doesn't extend to more than a basic understanding of airship machinery however.
~ Bird-Fishing: A favourite pastime of his alongside being a major way of finding ingredients for his meals. Jonny finds birds beautiful, though seems nonchalant about cooking them.
~ Robotic Bird: Perched upon his shoulders at almost all times is a robotic bird he calls Iris. Jonny has something of a bizarre relationship with Iris, often making fun of her and calling curses down upon her, yet expressing almost desperate concern to get her fixed whenever she breaks down (which is pretty regularly). Iris' design is basic and generic, a non-specific bird-shaped bird with a rusted beak and piercing red LED eyes. She spends most of her time doing nothing, but Jonny does use her for hunting for birds to use in his meals as her robotic talons are pretty powerful.
~ Alcohol and Drunkenness: Jonny believes a man is at his best when his stomach is well saturated in alcohol. His larder contains a wide range of alcholic beverages from simple lagers and beers to ports and whiskeys. He has quite a sweet tooth, favouring strong near-toxic smelling beverages whilst harbouring a hidden love of port (though he considers it a lady's drink). He spends most of his meagre wages on alcohol.
~ Exotic Cooking: Jonny's cooking skills are a tale of two halves. When he plays it safe, he is certain to pump out high standard meals from a wide variety of different cuisines. However, he likes to be experimental, which sometimes works a treat but just as often ends in disaster.
~ Games: Whether it be chess, perudo or whatever, Jonny loves a good game and is a pretty good player, such that only the stubbornest of crew members will gamble with him.
~ Adventures and Travelling: Even now, Jonny visibly relishes the opportunity to travel the skies and explore the world; his tales are full of such adventures, and he is often found merely taking in the world from the ship's deck.

Fears, Weaknesses and Dislikes:
~
Legalism: Pious and rule-enforcing individuals rub him up the wrong way.
~ Poor Eyesight: Claiming to have damaged his eyes in a cooking accident, Jonny's marksmanship and dexterity isn't all that it used to be, and his eyes are a lot worse than he would admit, meaning he often can't tell who people are from a distance and can't read unless documents are very close to him. Without his glasses, he'd be basically hopeless (hence why he has a whole cupboard full of them in his quarters, all eccentrically given their own name).
~ Weak Right Arm: Another 'cooking incident' has seen his right arm pretty damaged and often shaking when under strain. He has learnt how to rely mainly on his left, but is still at times a little clumsy.

Non-Player Character Connections (aka: some subplot NPCs):
~ Admiral Dimitar Frocul: A hardy yet warm admiral who has a jovial relationship with Jonny; when docked in ADAM, Jonny spends most of his time away from the crew with Frocul.
~ Admiral Vinicius Nihilus: A harsh and imposing admiral who seems to have a frosty relationship with Jonny.
~ Annanias Fletchin: ?????
~ Niphany: ?????
~ Corrine: ?????
~ Chutton Liberstein: ?????
