The Quarantine Zone

The first case of DNV (Degenerative Neurological Virus) was observed just one year ago. From there, the epidemic spread like a wildfire. It was unlike any disease ever seen before. Authorities rushed to contain it, closing off all access to and from the country. However, its path of destruction couldn't be stopped.

Nine months ago, DNV spread to the rest of the world, resulting in mass hysteria across the globe. In a futile attempt to prevent the disease from spreading any further, several countries locked down. It didn't take long for society to crumble completely.

Your hometown issued a quarantine on the city. No one was allowed in or out - no exceptions. In a vain attempt to save itself, the town forced its population into an enclosed quarantine. It worked - until the first infected infiltrated the barriers.

You're a survivor.

It's been 6 months since the Quarantine began. The first signs of infection were spotted several months ago. No one noticed until it was too late.

The city is now overrun by infecteds. You're one of the few remaining. With infecteds looming around every street corner and the walls trapping you along with them, there's no way to escape. Supplies are running low, and the number of infected a outnumber the remaining human population. You won't make it much longer. Either you succumb to starvation or to the infecteds. Or you risk your life trying to escape. Will you escape the Quarantine Zone?

The Disease

DNV is unlike any disease seen before. It is spread through contact with an infected, such as bites or scratches. Currently, there is no cure. In its early stages, DNV manifests itself through severe headaches, confusion, hallucinations, fever and extreme aggression. It doesn't take long for the disease to completely overtake its host, draining them of all remaining traces of humanity. They seem to possess no memories or even the ability to think. Aggression escalates to the point of attacking anything that crosses their line of vision. Their pain tolerance is heightened to extreme levels, making them difficult to disable. Eventually, the disease will kill its host, but not before transforming them into a mindless, malicious beast.
