Last night had been a blissful one. Tori had been over to see his parents, which was a rare occurrence. Seeing as how his Visionary identity was unknown to them, he was hard-pressed to find time to see any kind of family. He had stayed the night in his old room, and was overcome with the nostalgia that followed. He remembered what it was like, being a normal person with a normal life.
Then suddenly, this happened. No explanation, just sudden abilities. He had pulled together his friends and together they had created something amazing. Tori didn't regret a single moment of it. Leaving the base had been a foolish move, but since nothing had happened, Tori supposed it had been fine.
He pulled into the parking lot of a dilapidated apartment building and, getting out of the car, pressed his hand against the nearest brick wall. There was silence for a moment, then a buzz beneath his fingertips triggered a rumbling noise that came from the apartment. Opening the front door, he was faced with elevator, which he entered. He pressed the single button, and the elevator descended quickly.
The lift jolted to a stop, and Tori made a mental note to try and fix that. The door opened, and he stepped into what appeared to be a five-star hotel. While there were no windows, the space was wide and yet cozy. A kitchen was on the far left of the room, and several seating options across from it. Tori went to his right, where there was a hallway with several doors lining it. He adjusted the bag he had slung across his shoulder and opened the first door on his left, which was his room. He had kept it simple, and yet well-furnished. Flinging the bag onto his bed, he sat down at the desk and pressed a button on the side. A soft beep rang out across the speakers that lined the facility.
"Hey guys, I'm back. I hope you didn't have too much fun last night." Tori chuckled through the speakers. "Now, back to work. Meet me in the training room in... Two minutes. No exceptions."
