Jack was born in a poor community in the port of Summerport. To look at him, you wouldn’t ever dream his body held a deep secret. Hunted by those who terrorise the seven seas.
Jacks mother was a theif. She would steal crops from farmlands and sell them off at market, shrouded as her own. One day, she stole some cabbages off an old woman, who she thought would never notice. But this woman was a witch. The witch did not curse the mother. She cursed the baby growing inside her. Jack.
Jack was born with a large treasure map on his back. A map that led to treasure hitherto unfound. A treasure so grand, pirates had hunted it for thousands of years. Yet, the map did not show the whereabouts of the treasure all of the time. You needed a drop of Jack’s blood on the image to bring it to life. So wretched was the witch, she only made this spell last for a small amount of time, when another painful drop of blood would need to be added.
The village folk decided to wrap Jacks body with bandage, and never tell a soul about the curse. Jack was never to know, thinking he had a serious skin issue that couldn’t breathe the air.
Of course, word got out, as words often do, and now the ignorant Jack is being hunted. Now an adult, he works as a farmer on the land, he doesn’t know the fate that bestows him.
