OK If befor the Primordial War the Gods lived on the blessed Isle how the hell did they do their Jobs.

Well, we know that all of the Incarna can bi-locate, otherwise they couldn't be in the Pleasure Dome and in the sky at the same time.

That brings up the question, though: What IS the Unconquered Sun's job, exactly? Lunas?

The Maidens' are fairly clearly laid out. The other Celestines... not so much.

I thought the whole point of the rebellion against the Primordials was that the Celestines wouldn't have to work anymore!

Seriously, wasn't that at least part of the reason they rebelled? To stop having to take care of Creation, and relegate that job to others, while they only (and infrequently) supervised?

As for their current jobs... well, I can only guess that they would be the final arbiters of what ought to be done with Creation, but they're so absorbed in the Games that they don't bother anymore.

I'm pretty sure the rebellion was caused by GoD-envy.

A theory: The US is the god of excellence. He and his fellow Celestines govern the dynamics of Creation and rule over the bedrock states of being that Creation’s reality rest upon: of being in motion, at rest, in conflict, of being aware (knowing), of ending, and changing (Luna). As Creation’s polestar of quality, The Sun makes it possible for one thing to be better than another. His existence allows change to create meaningful improvement rather than just meaningless variations. The manifestations of the Sun’s refined excellence are the four Virtues, the symbols of which he holds in his hands. His Chosen are exemplars of all-around excellence who strive for new levels of achievement, and in the early First Age they were engines of human progress.

Thus it was that Creation ceased to improve after the Sun turned his face away from the world, and it was the High First Ageâ€â€the time before the Solars had earned his displeasureâ€â€that saw the highest realization of humanity and civilization’s overall potential.

In his material aspectâ€â€his day gig, so to speakâ€â€the Sun is the celestial body that radiates the heat and light that drive the growth of living things under the sky. Thus materially the US controls the dynamics of the seasons and weather.

In the First Age he probably received seasonal worship for sustaining life in Creation, and individuals who needed to be the best at something (e.g. winning an archery contest, passing a civil service exam with the highest marks) probably made sacrifices to the US as well as the relevant specific gods of the particular endeavor.

In my chronicles, the Zenith encourage the correct and timely propitiation of the sun, as well as self-development through seeking improvement in the four virtues.

this is the way i think about it. take it or leave it.

the celestines were the governors of creation from the start. the thing is that when they were answerable to the primordials they had to do what they wished.

the Primordials exist for no reason. this is the exact opposite of all of creation. this makes them whimsical and insane. imagine your the unconquered sun. the mightest of all gods and you are doing your job of governing the universe when some guy tells you to dance the polka naked and turn the sea into tapioca.

this is not to say that shit like that happened a lot but remember that the underground is filled with creatures the primordials created and then lost interest in. the gods decided that they were going to run things in an ordered manner and keep things the same.

so the i think UCS and Luna have had the same jobs forever. they just got rid of their bosses.

... so if all things in Creation has function, what were the function of mortals? An anthill for the Primordials to play with?
