Fantasy The Lost Sands of Time

"Brother please..." Amaunet followed her brother without a single complaint, she was not completely crazy and she wasn't ignorant, but that didn't mean she was to stay completely quiet, " I meant no harm by my leaving palace. You more than anyone knows that I would never dare to venture too far." She tried appeasing to his calm nature, but she could tell that he held back silent fury, " Can't you forgive this one time?"

"I know. Don't ask for forgiveness before you know what you are guilty of." He said maintaining his tone not looking at Amaunet. "Father is assigning blame of this incident to me, he said i failed in my duty to keep you safe and disciplined. Made father and i look weak to onlookers. I am meant to escort you to your room and return to father for punishment."

"But it was not your fault!" She denied, and rushed until she was now in front of him, hoping to halt his steps and force him to look at her. " Father is mistaken, I was in his care when I ran away, not yours, he cannot blame you for this!" It was not fair, she had been with her father, her brother nowhere in sight, and yet he was blamed? She thought not! "I am going with you to see Father, this instant."

"You will go to your room and stay there!"He shouted at her, his last nerve severed his anger revealed in full force. The only restraint remained was preventing him from striking her, choosing instead to take that impulse out on nearby column ."Anubis take you, haven't you caused enough trouble for one night?!"

"And I am now at least trying to fix it!" She snapped back, though in a lower voice, and she chose the wise decision to back up and lay herself against the far wall away from him and his fury, " I will take your punishment brother, I am trying to help you avoid a fate that is not yours to take. " Those blue eyes pleaded with her older sibling and she was about ready to beg him to listen, " I have never once asked anything of you, not even to visit me as a brother should, but now I ask you to let me take the harm that is about to befall you."

"Always stubborn! Always! Since we were kids, you never just let things

go!"He said looking at her tensely before sighing, an act the seemed to deflate him. He leaned against the column and rubbed his eyes before clutching his hand to use to punch the column"You think seeing you punished all the time is a favor to me... You think acting as your keeper and not your brother is something i want... I am heir i have a responsibility....why do i bother? Well, I am already in bed with the crocodiles, what more could this do me. Go do what you want if your so inclined. Just leave me be."

(signing off.)

"Brother..." His little sister held tears in her eyes at his sorrow, and isntead of doing as she was told, she approached him, and knelt down before him and took his injured and sore hand in her own and pressing a loving kiss to his, only wishing to show her brother that she cared about him and his pain. She never wanted to bring him any. "Please forgive me my brother...I only ever want to help you." She pleaded quietly, pressing his head to her heart, looking up at him with those vivid blues, "I will do as you wish, anything at all that you wish. But please, let me take away your pain."

"Well, enough of that for a start."He said a slight redness appearing on his cheek as he retracted his head from her chest. He tried to desperately to regain his former composure, haven't felt this vulnerable since he was a young child."I don't have an answer for you about what you can do, maybe there nothing you can do. Such is life...I have to go see father, you want go with me and face his wrath like time we broke the statue of grandfather, be my guest. Otherwise can i trust you to go to your room rather than the stables? At least for the sake for a better nights sleep."

((Oh shoot, I meant hand on her heart not head. So sorry about that, didn't mean for the awkwardness))

"Yes brother." She knew that it was wrong for her father to do this to her brother, that it ws wrong to punish him when she should be receiving the lashes for her escape. If anyone should be punished, it was father. But instead, she nodded to her brother and bowed her head to him without another word, leaving him and walking down the familiar hall until she reached the hidden entry to her chambers and slipped inside.

(No worries, it was funny broke abit of the seriousness of the story so far. Time skip after this?)

The prince waited for a moment, watching his sister go back towards her chambers. He took a deep breath and rubbed his eyes, all he wanted now was to get into bed but he had a lot to do. He began to make his way to the throne room.

"I cant leave you alone for five minutes can i?"The voice of Salih came from behind the prince. Salih had been watching the brother and sister fight from a distance and figured it was the best time to make himself known."I hear you earned the ire of the old man."

"Old man? Brave words to say to his son and were the walls have ears.."The prince said turning to face his friend, a smile forming on his lips. "With you being one of those ears."

"I hear nothing, i know nothing, sir as usual."Salih said simply.

"Sure you dont."The prince commented."Glad you caught up with me. I wanted to say appreciate sending my sister back here."

"What sir? I have no idea what you mean." Salih said a visible look of sweat appearing his brow.

"Come now, you think me fool."The prince replied."She is found walking out the staples not long after you have gone to tend the horse. Dont worry its fine, i know you well enough."

"Thank you."

"Do not worry about, but we need to have a talk about this after i finish with father. Understood?"Prince ordered a hint of authority in his tone.

"Yes, sir."

"Now, come. You are partly to blame for me being in this position so i have you face my fathers droning with me."

"Oh great sir..,"Salih mattered sarcastically.

((Sounds good))

"Amaunet, please come here and get dressed." Ai sighed and knelt next to the princess' bathing pool, holding out the gold robes and was practically begging the woman to get out and get dressed. "I understand you are upset my flower, but you must come out of there. You cannot stay all morning."

"I will do as I wish." Since her brother's punishment the few days before, maunet hadn't so much as left her chambers or spoken a word to anyone, she hadn't even contacted Salih as she had wished out of fear of causing her brother more harm. "Leave me Ai, I will get dressed when I wish." It wasn't as if she had anywhere to go.

"You are as stubborn as your father." The older woman huffed, but did as she was told and left the robes by the pool and left the princess in the waters to be alone and sulk.

Salih walked up to the princess' chambers, once arriving he struck on a nearby wall with the pummel of his sword to gain the attention of its inhabitants. The punishment against the prince turned out to be some extra duties and loss of a few privileges for several days, a tough punishment but nothing to the scale the pharoah had threatened. Most of Salih time now was spent running errands for the prince, in the time he found himself thinking more of the princess particularly that blue eyes of hers. He felt bad that he didn't contact her and help her as promised, so finding some free time he made an attempt to check on her

"Huh?" The sudden sound of his sword hitting the walls startled the young woman, and she pulled herself out of the water and quickly dressed, tying a long golden band about her chest and fastened a skirt to her waist before rushing off back into her private chambers. It was a simple outfit, but it was still golden to say the least, not jeweled as most of the clothes she wore. As she rushed into the room, she stopped dead in her tracks and those blue jewels locked onto the man who had just entered.

"I did not think you would come." Amaunet said quietly, unable to take her eyes off of him. This was the first man to ever enter her room. Not even her father or brother had ever stepped foot there and it was causing a slight guilt to bloom in her chest.

Salih stood silent for a moment, honestly not expected Amaunet herself to greet him. He had prepared himself to talk with her maid having thought up excuses to be able to gain some news, this through him off slightly (OCC that was honesty what i was expecting;-). Seeing her in brought daylight didn't help much either, the dark of that night did her little justice.

"Didn't think i will see you when i came but here we are."He replied after recovering from the initial shock."Best i keep this brief then: Just wanted to check up on you, see if you were still set for a trip."

((I figured you were, there will be plenty of sassy old woman later ;) ))

"I..." She too had to recover from the shock, brushing the black strands of loose hair from her face as her mouth opened and closed in question and she even stammered slightly, something royalty should never do. "I am..unsure of leaving sir." She admitted of herself, finally revealing the hesitation with a sigh. "My brother was punished already once because I ran away. I cannot even imagine of what would happen if they discover me gone again."

"Its Salih by the way. And If that's what you want, hard to believe you showed alot of conviction for it before."He said with small hint of disappointment which surprised him. He couldn't fault her reasoning, not going on this trip would spare them from the risks in involved. So why wasn't he pleased with it?

"No no no..." she took a step forward, approaching him slowly, "Believe me, I swear by the Gods that I still want out. I still wish to see the kingdom from a view that does not come out of my window." She glanced behind her, to the balcony where she had stood many a night, wishing she could be below, with her people, "That is my only wish...Salih." she said his name for the first time, letting it dance off her tongue quietly. "My name is Amaunet..."

"Well...Amaunet..."He tried to say but the word felt unnatural being said in his mouth, felt like he was being disrespectful. Though he was glad to know it at the very least."...Princess...I am glad to hear that both you wish and name, they suit you. This doesn't have to happen straight away, a little time is needed to plan so the risk you fear does happen. How often are checked up on?"
(Signing off.)

"Ai comes to wake me when Ra appears, brings me a meal in midday, and collects everything when Ra vanishes." She told him. "She is never late and never early. It is almost a rare occurrence when she comes at any other time because she too is limited by my father to come into my room. All the other hours, including the night, you are safe to visit me and to plan this...escape of mine." She ended finally. She saw the hesitation with him using her name, and she understood. Her own brother did not even use it, so she was used to it. She did not expect the poor man to adjust so quickly, it would take him time. "Thank you Salih."

"No thanks necessary, its unnatural to be cooped up in a room all day especially with little company. I understand the reason but still..."He stopped himself mid sentence and smirked."No reason to rehash this whole matter, just don't understand this aspect of your people culture.."

She chuckled in response to his last statement, a soft sound that vibrated in her chest. "Yes well, I do not understad it myself. My father locked me up in these secret chambers when I was only a child...he took me away from my brother once my mother passed onto the afterlife, and since then he has never let me out, saying that not even the Gods themselves deserve to look at me in fear of losing me as well."

"So i have the privilege of a sight your gods are not worthy off, huh? Not sure if i should be proud or fearful of their envy, judging by you a little bit of both."He said her chuckle being infectious enough to return. That chuckle ceased when he realized he may have gone a step too far with the compliment. This balancing act of being friendly and being respectful was driving him nuts "I appologize if i am being too forward, princess Amaunet "

"No no...do not dare apologize dear Salih." She smiled, those deep blues sparkling as she approached him, standing before him thinking that he would like if she spoke to him closer, showing him all was alright, "You are the first man, first person, I have ever spoken to outside of this palace and the first to treat me as a person. I adore that, and wish for you to continue that all the same.
