The Lost Boys [New WoD]

Cthulhu_Wakes

Black Sun in a White World
They call it the Delta Protocol. No one knows who they are, what they are, only that they are. No one's even sure if that's the group's real name.

You were a soldier once, be it anything from a simple grunt to the company chaplain, you woke up one day to find discharge papers nearby. A good luck, good work, and check in to this private clinic.
Something happened. You're different now. There are eyes on you now, always feeling that someone's over your shoulder watching every move.

That feeling has lent itself to some strange moments. You notice things now: strange goings on at the abandoned house down the road; black vans lingering down the block; the dead-eyed things watching from the tree line; those strange sets of twins cropping up in the backgrounds of old photos. There's another world atop the one you used to know.

But you're not alone--not simply in a sinister way--there're the Lost Boys. Fellow men and women who served in armies round the world who woke up one day, like you, and found themselves changed. And thirsty. Thirsty for Delta's special Serum that keeps all your shiny new additions in check and working order. To miss out on your dose... Horrific.

Mired in conspiracy with eyes opened to the world of darkness around you, the questions spring forth. But at least you don't face the night alone.

Welcome to the new world, soldier. Note: this doesn't mean to play the game you have to be former spec-ops or any manner of elite soldier, if you chose. In fact, the example soldier within Onyx Path's The Lost Boys write up was a former chaplain in his company. So you can run wild with former duties and the like within the military. Remember, there're a great many MOS.

The overall tone of this game will be one of conspiracy thriller, some dicey Bourne Identity action, and, of course, the supernatural terrors of the NWoD colliding with your once normal lives. There will be copious amounts of creeping, screwed up horror. Always ask questions. What is the Protocol? Why did they do this to you? Where can you get your next hit of Serum?

This game will be run with the additional rules lent by the upcoming supplement Hurt Locker's Open Development blog. You can also find it on Onyx Path's blog if the link provided doesn't work.

The Lost Boys

^Specifically, this file. Take a minute and read the flavor text. Roll that idea around in your head. Participation in this game requires the New World of Darkness, aka Chronicles of Darkness core book that went live recently. Or, if you don't have that, the God-Machine Chronicle update rules.

If you've an interest, drop a line! See if you can pitch a concept in just a line or two. Cheers!

Poking those I feel would be interested: @Grey @Skrakes @Vanman @Esbilon

'Red' was angry, nothing new really, but this time the entire garage was worried; she was already throwing things. Some dog-faced bullet sponge had gone and broke the jeep Red fixed yesterday. She had been wondering why there was fur in the wheel wells and why the front end had claw marks when her world went black.

Hope you don't mind a three sentence character summary

OK, after reading the Lost Boys thing, it seems clear that we won't be getting missions from Delta. Here's a pitch:

Joining the marines was just a ploy to get into college, but what do you do when your trick turns the tables on you and the means become the end? And then, what do you do when you're kicked out with no reason given? Well, maybe you go to that college, you get those smarts, and you figure out what the hell is going on here.

You know what? Here's my concept:

You're not really a soldier in the classic sense. Less Black Hawk Down, more A Few Good Men. Judge Advocate General Corps fills your Grisham-esque dreams while allowing you to feel that you're serving your country in some manner. The question is, why did the people behind the Delta Protocol pick you while not bringing you 'in-house', so to speak?

Sounds just fine. And yeah, to elaborate more, you guys are aware of one another through the Lost Boys support network. Each of you has a set of gifts, whichever you'd like to buy during CC, and you all rely on serum. Now, you have various means to you all and as some of you do, you try to live a normal life. But they're out there and they will pull you back in at a moments notice. I call it the Horror-Bourne genre of conspiracy. :P
