The Loop

Intro
Welcome to the Loop group lore! This lore will be broken up into sections: locations, information on the Loop itself, important NPCs, information on the current 'mystery', information on important past events, general lore on the setting, how posting works, and a FAQ section where I'll put answers to questions to people ask just in case someone has a similar question.

Mystery note: there are two types of mysteries: arcs and small mysteries. Arc mysteries are the main mysteries of the group, and generally will affect all characters. Small mysteries can be run into characters as they run around the town and by request to me.

Note: The setting itself is taken from Tales from the Loop (currently a tv show on amazon as well as originally a tabletop game), but mysteries and anomalies are going to be completely original content.

Current Mystery
Mystery 1: The Hadney Lake Stalker

Mystery Start
There's a rager that's being thrown at the old nuclear testing site before the school year starts! The place is a little creepy, but hasn't been used and there's tons of space, and hey, who doesn't like to mess around with the mannequins? Grab a beer and gather 'round to destress before classes start up again.

Mystery Information

Rumors
Rumors are things heard around town that may or may not be true, or that may carry some truth to them but be twisted in some way.
-There's been tell of a huge, hulking monster ambling around Allgood. The kids have started calling it the Hadney Lake Stalker, and descriptions of it very drastically. Some say it has the face of a deer, and others say its covered in plants. Its fast, its slow, it sounds like a mountain lion and it makes no sound at all. The only consistent part of anyone's description is that its eyes glow bright blue.
-There's been weird noises near the old nuclear site recently; people say that DART is trying to revamp it for testing other technology.

Past Events

  • Locations
    The Salvage Yard
The junkyard is where old technology goes to die....in theory. Old cars, hovering freighters, robots, and more are dumped there when they're considered no longer functional. Despite being marked for destruction, the owner of the yard, Owen Fredrickson, allows some of the more technology and vehicle inclined teens search for parts they might need but can't afford. Adults have to pay for anything they pick up, though.

    The Allgood Theater
The theater is a bit rundown and only able to show one film at a time, but its really all Boulder has got, so its either that or finding a way to get to the newer, fancier Las Vegas theaters.

    The Library
The library is a decent size; it isn't particularly large, but it isn't tiny either. It has a good selection of books and offers a variety of recreational events for all ages.

    The Allgood Motel
The motel was pretty new-age when it was built, but nowadays its quite rundown and in need of a new paint job.

    Allgood High School
The high school is a decent size and offers a variety of extracurricular activities. It isn't really much to be in awe of, but it manages to do its job well enough. Though, some may tell you that they should fund the arts program more and possibly fix up the auditorium a bit, but thats neither here nor there.

    The City Pool
Allgood has a tendency to get hot, so on days like those, it isn't uncommon for people to stop by the city pool, which has both an indoor and outdoor area. Despite the indoor area, people don't often go during the winter, making it a good hang-out spot for teens.

    Larry Llama's Pizza Emporium
An old pizza joint opened in 1970 a little ways outside of Allgood, complete with giant play area, arcade games, iconic characters, and shitty pizza. It shut down in 1980 for unknown reasons, and the building sits abandoned and untouched, all the old items still inside. It seems the owners didn't bother to empty the place out, so its functionally a time capsule.

    The Arcade
The 80s has brought a variety of arcade games to Allgood, including Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Dig-Dug, and more. While small, the arcade is a great way to spend otherwise dull moments.

    Allgood Airport
The airport is actually nonfunctional. It used to be used for bringing people- and materials -to the dam, but since the project as been finished, it fell into a state of disuse before being completely shut down. Some people claim that the airstrip is still used, but the building is about as abandoned as it gets.

    The Bowling Alley
One of the only pros of this building is the air conditioning. The alley was created in the 40s and since that point not much has changed. It only has 8 lanes and for the most part, people don't bother to use it, but on hot days its good to stop in and cool off in the AC.

    Fisher Space Pen
A factory that creates pressurized ball point pens. DART is theorized to be their biggest customer. The factory is pretty out-of-town compared to most things

    Allgood Police Department
The police department. It's pretty small, to be honest, which is fitting for the area.

    St. Christopher's Church
The local church. It's a little run down, but has a dedicated congregation that attends mass.

    Whalen Baseball Field
The baseball field shared by the elementary school and high school. It isn't big, and so usually the schools have to battle it out to see who gets it on what day.

    Allgood Hospital
The Allgood Hospital isn't the most high-tech and it has little funding. It does the job, though.

    Sunrise Park
Sunrise park is a good place to go and hang out. Its a very small patch of green within the very dry Allgood area.

    Mitchell Elementary School
The elementary school. Its more well taken care of than the high school.

    Lake Hadney
Lake Hadney is a pretty substantial water feature, and one of the few areas of Allgood that tourists are drawn to. It used to be a good fishing spot, but recently signs have gone up telling people there's now a penalty for fishing. It hasn't made a lot of people happy, considering its the only spot with water in a good distance.

    Goblin Valley State Park
A state park near Allgood named for its odd-looking rock formations.

    The Epsilon Loop
The US Epsilon Loop, while smaller than the one in Sweden, is still the second largest functioning Loop. Functionally, its a particle accelerator with a diameter of 17 miles, and scientists work there on many different research topics, though none are disclosed to the public. Its a general rule of thumb that if you get accepted into an internship at any Loop, you're basically set for life.

    The Baan Cooling Towers
Three gigantic cooling towers are located above the main reactor of the Loop. They can be seen from Allgood, and on dark nights they're extremely visible due to their slight blue glow.

    Nuclear Testing Site
Now rundown, the nuclear testing site is outside of Allgood. It looks like a town, but instead of people, the residents are dolls. Its really quite a creepy place to explore, in all honesty.
