The Loop
Intro
Welcome to the Loop group lore! This lore will be broken up into sections: locations, information on the Loop itself, important NPCs, information on the current 'mystery', information on important past events, general lore on the setting, how posting works, and a FAQ section where I'll put answers to questions to people ask just in case someone has a similar question.
Mystery note: there are two types of mysteries: arcs and small mysteries. Arc mysteries are the main mysteries of the group, and generally will affect all characters. Small mysteries can be run into characters as they run around the town and by request to me.
Note: The setting itself is taken from Tales from the Loop (currently a tv show on amazon as well as originally a tabletop game), but mysteries and anomalies are going to be completely original content.
Current Mystery
Mystery 1: The Hadney Lake Stalker
Mystery Start
There's a rager that's being thrown at the old nuclear testing site before the school year starts! The place is a little creepy, but hasn't been used and there's tons of space, and hey, who doesn't like to mess around with the mannequins? Grab a beer and gather 'round to destress before classes start up again.
Mystery Information

Rumors
Rumors are things heard around town that may or may not be true, or that may carry some truth to them but be twisted in some way.
-There's been tell of a huge, hulking monster ambling around Allgood. The kids have started calling it the Hadney Lake Stalker, and descriptions of it very drastically. Some say it has the face of a deer, and others say its covered in plants. Its fast, its slow, it sounds like a mountain lion and it makes no sound at all. The only consistent part of anyone's description is that its eyes glow bright blue.
-There's been weird noises near the old nuclear site recently; people say that DART is trying to revamp it for testing other technology.

Locations
The Salvage Yard
The junkyard is where old technology goes to die....in theory. Old cars, hovering freighters, robots, and more are dumped there when they're considered no longer functional. Despite being marked for destruction, the owner of the yard, Owen Fredrickson, allows some of the more technology and vehicle inclined teens search for parts they might need but can't afford. Adults have to pay for anything they pick up, though.
The Allgood Theater
The theater is a bit rundown and only able to show one film at a time, but its really all Boulder has got, so its either that or finding a way to get to the newer, fancier Las Vegas theaters.
The Library
The library is a decent size; it isn't particularly large, but it isn't tiny either. It has a good selection of books and offers a variety of recreational events for all ages.
The Allgood Motel
The motel was pretty new-age when it was built, but nowadays its quite rundown and in need of a new paint job.
Allgood High School
The high school is a decent size and offers a variety of extracurricular activities. It isn't really much to be in awe of, but it manages to do its job well enough. Though, some may tell you that they should fund the arts program more and possibly fix up the auditorium a bit, but thats neither here nor there.
The City Pool
Allgood has a tendency to get hot, so on days like those, it isn't uncommon for people to stop by the city pool, which has both an indoor and outdoor area. Despite the indoor area, people don't often go during the winter, making it a good hang-out spot for teens.
Larry Llama's Pizza Emporium
An old pizza joint opened in 1970 a little ways outside of Allgood, complete with giant play area, arcade games, iconic characters, and shitty pizza. It shut down in 1980 for unknown reasons, and the building sits abandoned and untouched, all the old items still inside. It seems the owners didn't bother to empty the place out, so its functionally a time capsule.
The Arcade
The 80s has brought a variety of arcade games to Allgood, including Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Dig-Dug, and more. While small, the arcade is a great way to spend otherwise dull moments.
Allgood Airport
The airport is actually nonfunctional. It used to be used for bringing people- and materials -to the dam, but since the project as been finished, it fell into a state of disuse before being completely shut down. Some people claim that the airstrip is still used, but the building is about as abandoned as it gets.
The Bowling Alley
One of the only pros of this building is the air conditioning. The alley was created in the 40s and since that point not much has changed. It only has 8 lanes and for the most part, people don't bother to use it, but on hot days its good to stop in and cool off in the AC.
Fisher Space Pen
A factory that creates pressurized ball point pens. DART is theorized to be their biggest customer. The factory is pretty out-of-town compared to most things
Allgood Police Department
The police department. It's pretty small, to be honest, which is fitting for the area.
St. Christopher's Church
The local church. It's a little run down, but has a dedicated congregation that attends mass.
Whalen Baseball Field
The baseball field shared by the elementary school and high school. It isn't big, and so usually the schools have to battle it out to see who gets it on what day.
Allgood Hospital
The Allgood Hospital isn't the most high-tech and it has little funding. It does the job, though.
Sunrise Park
Sunrise park is a good place to go and hang out. Its a very small patch of green within the very dry Allgood area.
Mitchell Elementary School
The elementary school. Its more well taken care of than the high school.
Lake Hadney
Lake Hadney is a pretty substantial water feature, and one of the few areas of Allgood that tourists are drawn to. It used to be a good fishing spot, but recently signs have gone up telling people there's now a penalty for fishing. It hasn't made a lot of people happy, considering its the only spot with water in a good distance.
Goblin Valley State Park
A state park near Allgood named for its odd-looking rock formations.
The Epsilon Loop
The US Epsilon Loop, while smaller than the one in Sweden, is still the second largest functioning Loop. Functionally, its a particle accelerator with a diameter of 17 miles, and scientists work there on many different research topics, though none are disclosed to the public. Its a general rule of thumb that if you get accepted into an internship at any Loop, you're basically set for life.
The Baan Cooling Towers
Three gigantic cooling towers are located above the main reactor of the Loop. They can be seen from Allgood, and on dark nights they're extremely visible due to their slight blue glow.
Nuclear Testing Site
Now rundown, the nuclear testing site is outside of Allgood. It looks like a town, but instead of people, the residents are dolls. Its really quite a creepy place to explore, in all honesty.

The Loop
The Loop is the most important part of the setting. The particle accelerator, 17 miles in diameter, lies below Allgood, along with an entire research facility. It has helped launched technology far ahead of what the regular 80s had, with robots, AIs, floating freighters, drones, and more being a commonplace. It pushes the bounds of what's considered impossible....which is a problem for the town.
Technology
Due to the Loop, many different pieces of technology can be found around Allgood. Current tech is listed below, and more will be added as time goes on. Players are free to suggest know pieces of tech so long as they run it by me, the GM, first.
-Maltemann Measurement Station D1400 | Common | These stations are commonly called 'penguins' by locals due to their shape. They aren't mobile, and dot the landscape of Boulder as monitoring stations for the Loop.
View attachment 899716
-Service Module Paarhufer RE-15 | Rare | Only a few copies exist around Boulder. DART has commissioned these non-mobile service stations for various areas around lake Mead. They sit in the water and take readings for Loop scientists, but otherwise their purpose is unknown.
View attachment 899717
-Lieber-Alta Locomotive Ship M60 OCH M75 | Common | This magnitrine ship is used as a service vehicle more often than not, or for transports for light loads.
View attachment 899718
-Lieber-Alta Cable Maintenance Vehicle 12 | Uncommon | A slower, less nimble magnitrine vehicle used by cable technicians at the Loop. It has high driver comfort and is known to be reliable
View attachment 899719
-Iwasaka Spider Probe Robot | Rare | A japanese-made robot. It is rarely sighted, but if found is usually on the shores of the lake or seen going into the water. They are amphibious robots, and can swim. Their purpose is currently unknown to the public.
View attachment 899720
-Corsair Delta | Uncommon | A very expensive, very sleek english magnetrine ship. Mostly used by non-civilians (other than the wealthy), and a handful are used by defense services.
View attachment 899721
-Iwasaka SBR-71| Uncommon | Originally constructed for self-defense, these moving vehicles are now used as service vehicles for civilian use.
View attachment 899722
-Paarhufer Autonomous Patrol Unit MK.82 | Common | These are known by locals as "Fire Watchers". They are used for guard and patrol duties around restricted areas like the Loop itself. Teens have been known to try and lure the robots around with flares and torches as a sport.
View attachment 899723
-Vectra ATV Series 2 | Rare | An all-terrain vehicle best adapted to hotter climates, like in Boulder. Used in emergency services.
View attachment 899724
-Vectra Land Train | Uncommon | A modular-designed vehicle used by civilians and military alike. It can have freight and service modules, and due to the shape is often called "The Millipede"
View attachment 899725
-Paarhhufer MX17 | Rare | Like the Millipede, this has a modular design, and so has been dubbed the Centipede by locals. The difference is in its rarity and use. The Centipede is used to house a small mobile lab, as well as secure sample storage.
View attachment 899726
-Vectra SV4 M.2000 | Common | A recent all-terrain service vehicle. It is widely considered a failed design, since it has such a rigid chassis and has bad heat management, which is dangerous in the Boulder summers. It breaks down regularly, yet is still used in the Loop upkeep.
View attachment 899727
-Vectra Cliffhopper M.80 | Uncommon | An outdated all-terrain vehicle designed in the very early 70s. Slowly coming back into popularity due to the issues of the M.2000, so units are being fixed up by Loop engineers in order to use them as replacements.
View attachment 899728
-Corsair Lightning | Uncommon | The only land vehicle from this company. Light, nimble, and fast, its popular with people obsessed with speed.
View attachment 899729
-Maltemann Soil Research Unit 14 | Common | Like the penguins, the SRU14s are dotting the landscaping, taking soil readings for the Loop.
View attachment 899730
-Vectra Super-X | Extremely Rare | A next-gen ATV thats still in testing. Some people have claimed to see a single unit around Boulder.
View attachment 899731
-Iwasaka MS-88 | Uncommon | A larger version of the spider probe, made to be manned by one operator. They participate in ground surveys around the lake.
View attachment 899733
-Lieber-Alta Light Service Engine 102 | Common | A light magnetrine vehicle by enterprises in the area. Cheap, powerful, reliable, its a favorite for those who need such a vehicle.
View attachment 899734
-Lieber-Alta Cable Maintenance Vehicle 13 | Uncommon | The successor to the CMV 12 that is slowly being phased in to the workforce.
View attachment 899735
-Iwasaka Surveillance Probe M.3550 | Uncommon | A bulky, slow unmanned probe that has outdated sensors. Its easy to fool for those who know its weak spots, which many teens have taken to figuring out. They are on the outer edges of restricted areas.
View attachment 899736
-Iwasaka Surveillance Probe M.4550 | Common | A reliable unmanned probe that has average sensors, speed, and maneuverability. It is found around the Loop campus.
-Iwasaka Surveillance Probe M.6550 | Rare | A high-tech unmanned probe with LIDAR and thermal sensors that make it virtually impossible to hide from. They are found around the inside of restricted areas.
-Iwasaka-Hagvik Patrol Probe Getingen | Extremely Rare | The most advanced unmanned probe, only rumored to be in use. They have high-tech sensors along with two light 20 mm automatic cannons.
Organizations
Plenty of organizations are present in the Loopverse! They will be listed below once more is found out about them.
-DART | An American agency, which most people assume stands for the Department of Advanced Research and Technology, ordered to be created by President Eisenhower in the 1950s. They oversaw the original construction of the Delta Loop and still oversee it in present day.
-KRAFTA | The company that took over the Alpha Loop after Riksengergi was shut down.
-Riksenergi | A Swedish state agency created specifically for the Alpha Loop. It was erected in the 1960s, but was shut down by 1976 due to unknown reasons.
-NAAB | [ REDACTED ]
-Iwasaka | [ REDACTED ]
-Corsair | [ REDACTED ]
-Radio Pirates | [ REDACTED ]
The Loops
Only a few particle accelerators are currently in use, made by different organizations and groups that share research and work with each other. That doesn't happen without issue, though.
-The Delta Loop | The Delta Loop is run by DART and is under Boulder, Colorado. It is the third loop to be successfully built, yet the second oldest to still be running.
-The Alpha Loop | The Alpha Loop is in Sweden. It was the first loop built, as well as the largest to still be functional. The Alpha Loop scientists have been known to head experiments even within the American loops. Its run by KRAFTA, but originally was run by Riksenergi.
-The Epsilon Loop | The Epsilon Loop is another American loop, built under the town of Allgood, Utah. This is the newest loop as well as the second largest one to be made (and still be functional). It is run by DART.
-The Gamma Loop | The Gamma Loop is a nonfunctioning Loop based in England. The largest loop to be created, as well as the third overall, the Gamma Loop was functional for 2 years before a disaster struck. The entire area it took up had to be evacuated and has not been inhabited since, leaving it in a state of disrepair. It was originally run by Corsair before its untimely demise.
-The Beta Loop | The Beta Loop is the second loop to be attempted, but failed catastrophically. It was based under an island off the coast of the US and subsequently abandoned.
Posting Information
There is no posting order! Nor will everyone be forced to interact with everyone at one time. Characters can investigate on their own or with whoever they please. When interacting with the area/npcs and parts of the mystery, I'll provide descriptions and reactions when needed. Mysteries are solved at the pace of you and the characters and hints are provided when wanted. This is supposed to be a fun, no-stress roleplay for all those involved! Posting order may be implemented for certain events to keep people up to speed, but those situations will likely be minimal.
FAQ
Q: Do I have to fill out the inter-character relationships section right away?
A: Nope! This can be saved for when people are actually accepted into the group. Don't worry about it right off the bat.
