Alec Hardy

CORTxJZWUAEX5Et.jpg

Alec was excited to start his last year of Hogwarts. He still wasn't sure what he wanted to do after school. Maybe he should try Quidditch. Like his good friend Barney. Barney was keeper for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Al was Seeker. They both loved Quidditch and were both talented. Maybe he should try something artistic, like painter or something like that. His mother rather wanted him to go work at the Ministry. As he would be "guaranteed of being paid". He didn't care about that. He didn't want to be a Ministry-nobody. He had always wanted to be in the spotlight. Maybe he should try acting.
Alec sat there. In the Great Hall. Alone. He heard younger girls talk about their Summer. How they had been to these amazing places.

"Have you ever been to America?" It was more of a rhetorical question. The girl immediately continued "I was there this Summer. It. Was. A-mazing!"

The boy, who sat alone sitting alone at the Gryffindor table, muttered something under his breath. Just so they wouldn't hear him.

"Good for you girl. Good for you."

Al considered his Summer relatively dull. He and his mum never went abroad for holiday's. The income from his mothers job just wasn't enough to fund it. So Alec stayed at home, spending most of his time hanging around with his neighbor. It was a fat bloke from 19 years old, who was studying to become a chef. Dirk was his name. They mostly just went swimming and such.
Alec didn't have any trouble adjusting to the muggle. For years, he and his mum had lived outside London with Muggles. Living under the muggle government, his mum would get some extra money. Due to unemployed benefit. She would exchange her earned Gallions from her job at the ministry to muggle currency, the Pound. After this she deposited this money onto their Muggle-bank. This way she could pay the rent every month and still be able to do the necessary shopping and such. His mom always did her best for her boy, which is why Alec didn't complain about not being able to go on vacation.
It wasn't easy for him. He would always be tempted to pick his broom and fly. Fly bare-chested towards the incredibly hot Summer-sun. He had been going to the woods a lot. Here he was able to practice spells and fly a bit if he was careful not to hit any branches.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The start of Barney's final year at Hogwarts had been a bad one, the Gryffindor unable to find his friends and teammates upon boarding the Hogwarts Express. Normally, in the event that he missed them while boarding, he'd traverse the carriages in search of a familiar face. Today, however, exhaustion from staying up late with his baby brother the night before had taken precedence, and he'd chosen to hole up in an abandoned compartment instead. Two trunks with no owners in sight were his only hint that anyone had been in there to begin with, but he'd cared little for the missing students and closed the compartment door to get some shut-eye. By the time the train had neared the station in Hogsmeade, the only reason he'd even gotten up was the return of what turned out to be two second year Ravenclaw boys. After assuaging their fears that he had gone through their things or set up something cruel in their compartment (he wasn't that kind of Gryffindor, thanks!), Barney had taken his luggage to another compartment, exchanging friendly barbs with Hufflepuff's captain. She let him use the compartment to change, and the two talked strategy they'd seen with the league until it was time to board the carriages. Again, he failed to find his housemates, and found himself back with the second year Ravenclaws. His only consolation was that he could find his friends easily at the Welcoming Feast, since the tables were designated by house.

Amidst the clamor of students pouring into the Great Hall, Barney spotted familiar faces at last, and he trailed behind them with purpose. While it was likely that everyone would congregate together eventually, any attempt to do so would be hampered if they all assumed that everyone else would join them. He hesitated for a moment and weighed his options, before deciding that his team's seeker was his best shot. It took only a moment for him to decide to sit across from Alec - rather than beside him - and he knocked a fork against his friend's goblet to get his attention. His blue eyes looked distant, which didn't bode well for Barney starting a conversation.

"You in there, mate?" Barney teased with a grin in lieu of a greeting. "Summer's over; time to get your head in the game!"

Quidditch season didn't start until November, but that wasn't about to stop Barney. He had already drafted his team and several possible plays, not to mention chosen who would be on reserve this year and who would take his place as captain next year. As Keeper, he felt that the best offense on the pitch was a good defense, and that meant planning ahead. Unfortunately, all of his drafts were in a notebook up in Gryffindor Tower, buried in his trunk with his robes and other belongings. He'd dig it out tonight and go over things again, maybe see what his friends had to offer for further strategy. In the meantime, he supposed he would have to listen to the mundane back-to-school topic of what everyone did over the summer. It may have been exciting as a kid, but it wasn't like anyone refrained from contacting their friends over the summer. That's what owls and the Floo Network were for; at least, unless you had gone to another country. Still, the whole topic was old hat to him by now.

"Good holiday?" the Keeper asked after a moment of contemplation. He was still a little out of it from sleeping the majority of the day, so it would be better if he got Alec talking first.

Iliana Mae Holland

Another scholastic year in Hogwarts came to a start, only with a difference. It was her last year and as much as she hated being strapped and dragged to lessons she usually prefers to skip, she didn't want this to come to and end. Mainly because N.E.W.Ts are ever so close and well the friends she grew to have during these years have been the family she quite wished for. Not that she was not content with her adoptive family but they couldn't understand her fully due to their non-magical knowledge. As for N.E.W.Ts, Yana was never a smart or studious to begin with... book smart at least. She always preferred a broom to a book, a good game or run than studying. The only subject she might have actually have a shot in was Potions. It's the only subject that she gave interest to, the art of potion brewing was just like cooking and creating your own concoction, hoping not to explode everything around you. It was no lie or no strange news that Yana was not one to proceed with her studies judging by her marks. The many times she had friends trying to aid her... however that being said the female might have a shot due to her photographic memory, only that she never put it to use. She refuses. The only thing Iliana took interest in was sports, physical activities. It's all she worked for. That included a nice area with water, a track, a finish line, a broom, a bat and a nasty bludger to knock out. Swimming, Triathlon marathons and more importantly Quidditch are her passion... earning her a beater spot once more and for the final time on the Gryffindor team... after that it's Quidditch Cup time. Hopefully. The many times the Hollands warned her not to go around flying ever so recklessly. If it was not reckless, it was not in Iliana's book. Definitely.

The blonde had isolated herself on the train ride to Hogwarts and it seemed like it in the Great Hall as well. Rather unusual of her considering she was a social bug and hated being alone. Now she was sitting in the Great Hall, on the Gryffindor table, bent over a piece of parchment while thoughtfully gnawing on her lower lip.
tumblr_inline_nj3xcp1Ryj1t5dhaj.png
One hand held a quill for scribbling while the other held a piece buttered bread, crumbling on her without knowing. It was an unusual sight to see Yana even holding a piece of parchment and quill let alone studying it. However Yana had finally picked up something from a stranger that claimed to know something about her blood line, her pure blooded line. Her heritage that she was desperate to seek. She wanted to eventually find if there was any relative alive out there and more importantly what actually happened to her parents... rather than a cheap story she was told growing up. It was true that her mother had died in labor but her father. Even the thought nerved her for the man that abandoned her. Yet she wanted to seek him out, to call him out for abandoning his daughter when she needed him. If it wasn't for the Hollands she would have been stuck in foster care and she didn't want to find out how that would have been.

The grip on her quill intensified as those thoughts were kindling the fire within her at that point. The rush washed over her, as she swore she tasted something metallic, her lip. She bit a tad hard. The chatter and laughter booming in her ears. She not yet even noticed the fact that one of her best friends together with a fellow team-mate and house-mate and friend were not far off from her. Her feet started tapping from under the bench in agitation. She needed a fly. A fly to clear her head.

Leona found a compartment on the train. She had arrived with her family and sister. Normally she would've gone to see at least one of her friend's even on the gate in King's Cross but not this year. Her father had asked her to stay away from her friends and like usually she had agreed. She even saw Angelica from the back and yearned to say hello after a parted summer. But she wouldn't be able to be seen with her. At least not here in London because of her parents. She hated being this way but she needed to in order to have a peaceful summer. It almost felt like she was only able to be her true self in the magical castle. But even that might turn out differently this year. She had promised her father to hang around the students more often, who he deemed like the perfect company and not the other way round. Just for once she might openly defy her father's will though. Her best friends were simply too important to her. Yet she hadn't answered one single owl over the cause of the summer. @thefan1

She kissed her mother's cheek for goodbye and shortly hugged her father before following her little sister into the train. The two girls found a compartment for themselves but soon it was filled with fellow Slytherins. Some of them were even in the last year like Leona. She crossed her legs and listened to the conversation throwing in a bit here and there but mostly she stayed quiet. It was about politics and more specifically about what the Ministry would be doing about werewolves. It was the reacquiring topic amongst the pureblooded families who still believed in blood supremacy - such as her own. After all such like her family, their parents did have all good and influential connections towards the Minister himself. So they were all trying to influence him towards finally banning werewolves and other creatures from their midst. She sighed and became even more silent as she watched the landscape of Great Britain pass outside the train. The only reason why she stayed in this compartment was her sister's presence and her promise that she would at least try to be more of a good daughter to her father.

Eventually they arrived at the castle and she almost thankfully parted ways with the Slytherins and her sister. She sat alone in the carriage, which brought her to the boarding school. The Great Hall was already filling as Leona finally arrived at the feast. Automatically she made her way to the Gryffindor table. "Hello you two.", she greeted both Barney and Alec. Leona didn't wait for them to invite her to sit down with them but instead she planted herself next to Alec's right. "How are you?", she asked both rather awkward after she hadn't talked or exchanged owls with any of her friends over the summer. Leona also randomly spotted Iliana and waved towards her not even sure if she saw her. @Wisp @Aart @LadyMasquerade

Angelica Lawson

800full-nadia-mejia.jpg

The comforting smell of the delicious food, the warmth emanating from the floating candles, the beautifully decorated ceiling and the screaming children. The things Angelica liked the most about the Sorting Ceremony. The beginning of a new (and, let's face it, dangerous) term in Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Being back felt like a comforting and well-deserved hug, one she was certainly going to need if she planned to go through her last year of school. While most seventh years were excited to finish school, become adults, and move on with their lives, Angelica couldn't help but wonder what would happen to her once the last day arrived. With that old bat they called Minister going after werewolves, things would only be harder for an unregistered werewolf like herself. That, combined with the stress brought by the upcoming Quidditch season and the most important exams they would ever take, and Angelica was left a nervous wreck looking for her friends around the crowded great hall.

If there was a moment when she needed her friends, this was it. Her summer had been a complete wreck; werewolf attack, dead father, turning into a werewolf herself and having the ministry behind her thinking she'd been acting too suspicious after waking up in Saint Mungo's. She'd obviously informed her friends of her father's death, and even if she hand't it had been the top story of the Daily Prophet for about a week before the next werewolf victim came around and stole her father's spotlight. They still didn't know that their friend was now a werewolf, and the thought of telling them was killing her. On one side, they could be supportive and help her whenever she needed extra help or cover whenever she felt too sick to go to class. On the other hand, there was a slight chance the Ministry might've gotten to them with their anti-werewolf propaganda and they would see her as a threat, turn her over to the Ministry and Merlin knows what would happen next. Her friends were good people, though. And they probably wouldn't harm her even if she was a horrible monster.

The Gryffindor girl put her worries and her gloomy face aside when she finally spotted her friends in the Gryffindor table. The table had never looked so comforting before. Without giving it a second thought, she ran towards the table, knocking over a few second and third year students on the way. When she arrived to the table, she sat down right in front of Alec, Barney and Leona with the brightest smile she could muster in such horrible times. "Well, if it isn't the most attractive group of demons in the whole world?" she said playfully, her brown eyebrows wiggling up and down as she spoke. "The holidays are torture without you easy targets losing against me in Quidditch. Did you miss me as much as I did?" Angelica asked, rubbing the bandaged, werewolf teeth shaped scar in her left forearm.

Alec filled up his goblet with some butterbeer. He found butterbeer way more tasty than normal beer. He had some last Summer. He and Chef (Alec didn't knew his name so he'd call him Chef) Drank some together. Even smoked a bit. That was the only exciting thing that really happened in the past weeks.

"You in there, mate?" Said a familiar voice "Summer's over; time to get your head in the game!"

Alec looked up to the deep familiar voice. The bloke was long, broad-shouldered, and black. It was Barney. The great Keeper of Gryffindor. He and him had always been the feared and respected if it came down to a Quidditch pitch. Barney was immensely strong and Alec was as fast as lightning

"Good holiday?" Barney asked as he sat down.
"Nah. Such a drag, man. I swear to god. Muggles are magically dull." The pair laughed. Alec poured some Butterbeer into Barney's cup.
"All I really did was- " The voice of a girl interrupted Alec.
"Hello you two."

It was Leona. The most kind girl Alec knew. They had known each other for about five years. Fist she hung out with only the "right students" as her father called them. That were basically just the pure-blood supremacists. Her parents were like that as well. He had seen them once. On platform 9 3/4. Proud looking couple. Alec despised that sort of people. Leona just wanted to hang out with people she liked. That's how they became friends.

"Why Hello, Leo."
"How are you?" She said rather awkwardly to the pair of guys. Alec ignored any awkwardness that might have been there.
"Well, I was just telling Barney that Muggles are-" Alec got interrupted again. This time by Angie. A very attractive girl, he found

"Well, if it isn't the most attractive group of demons in the whole world?"
"If it isn't Angie."
"The holidays are torture without you easy targets losing against me in Quidditch. Did you miss me as much as I did?"
"I did actually. How are you. I heard about your father." Alec stroke her arm where she was rubbing.

Leona waved at Yana. She was examining a piece of parchment a couple benches further. Alec hadn't notice her until now. He took another look around. Everyone was there accept Renlo. Alec found this rather odd. Renlo wasn't often late.

"She's gone somewhere else, she is." Said Alec jokingly. "I'll go get her. Ange, we'll talk later"

Alec went over to Yana who sat a couple benches away. Yana had always been a good friend his. Probably his best. They were a lot like each other. Hell, some people even misunderstood them for brother and sister. They had been in the same Quidditch team. The same classes. They had get to know each other well and trusted each other completely.

"Yo. Misses bookworm." Alec flicked his finger on her ear. Now he got her attention all right. Alec looked at the piece of parchment she was studying.
"Family matters, eh?" Alec said concerned. "You all right there, Yan?"

As her house mates and little group had made their way to the Hall, she had still been way to absorbed in what that manky old piece of parchment contained rather than her surroundings at this point. The ink on the parchment was worn out and made it impossible to read and decode. It did however make it clear that it was a somewhat family tree. Her father's side if we are being exact. Giving a soft sigh of exhaustion the female blinked a bit, her eyes watering with tiredness. The female didn't spot Leo's wave, her mind was simply somewhere else. No wonder she didn't even show her face.

She was absorbed in her little world. That was... until she felt a flick against her ear which pinched like hell causing her to jolt from that lonely world.
"Owww!" she groaned covering her ear as she turned only to be greeted by none other than Alec, "You bloody git," she added as she rubbed her ear before giving him a grin. He had been the first person she had ever spoken to, on the platform when she was nothing but clueless. It was funny how he knew more than her considering she's a pure blood who had no clue magic and such was simply a myth. Something told in fairy-tales when she was just a little kid. Ever since then along with Hogwarts he had shown her the fun of being a witch, not to mention the introduction to Quidditch. It simply came to a point where she basically shares everything with the bloke, and that was not something she liked doing. Considering the fact that she is so shitty at expressing her emotions. He served as the brother she never managed to spend her life with.
tumblr_inline_nj3xcp1Ryj1t5dhaj.png

She hummed and narrowed her eyes at him,
"Call me Missus Bookworm once more and I'll hex you to Oblivion an back." she threatened before pointing at her parchment. "Look... I finally found some leads on my lineage. Hopefully the right lead," she signaled him to either look over her shoulder or sit by her to view. As stated previously the parchment was rather old and the years did it more harm than good. It showed a very small family tree, her finger hovered over generations and generations till it halted on a pair. Maxwell McDrew ------- Helena McDrew. "These are my parents you see... although it is not much to go on. My father's side is not that big. I am the last generation from my dad's side. His siblings had died and never had any children... so that makes a stop. No living relatives there." she said with a groan.

Her chocolate brown eyes fell on her close friend, they were hurt, definitely not alright, "Why is this so bloody hard? I just need a link, it's all I want." Of all people Alec should know the struggle she has with the fact how she thrives to find someone of her blood line. It was something she was determined of finding. Knowing very well there is a major chance that it would all be for nothing but at least she tried. She sought comfort, her agitation from the foot tapping now simply turned to sadness and disappointment.

"Nah. Such a drag, man. I swear to god. Muggles are magically dull."

Alec laughed, and Barney joined him, understanding where he was coming from on the statement. While both half-bloods, Barney had grown up solely Muggle until Hogwarts; Alec, on the other hand, had his mother for magic. They'd developed different tastes for the world around them, although attending Hogwarts most of the year and being surrounded by magic meant that the Muggle world felt a little too dull at times. Of course, being able to perform magic outside of the castle was a nice change, and he had taken advantage of that over the summer to impress his little brother. Poor kid would be bored out of his mind next summer when Barney moved out.

"All I really did was-" Alec began, only to be interrupted by one of many familiar faces Barney had looked forward to seeing.

"Hello you two." Leona greeted them, knowing that she didn't need an invitation to join them. "How are you?"

Leona had sat to Alec's right and left Barney alone on the other side of the table. Nice. Thankfully, Alec wasn't opposed to the interruption, although it seemed he was quite the ladies' man this evening. Next to flock to the table was Angelica, and while Barney's friendly smile stayed on his face in greeting the girls with a wave, concern shone in his eyes. He'd heard about the attack over the summer, and after the mass slaughter that had happened in April, the Minister of Magic's stance on werewolves was well-known. Practically an open opposition to the views that Angelica's father had held and instilled in her. She had joined Barney's side of the table with a flurry of energy and a couple of jabs, to which Barney playfully pushed his elbow into her arm. Alec dutifully upheld conversation with the girls, but his attention was drawn away to Iliana, who Barney figured would join them when she was ready. Rather than wait, however, Alec volunteered to go get her, stranding him with the girls. He took a moment to remind himself who was who - it wasn't his fault that they looked alike in his tired state - and decided to try his hand at getting them talking again. With any luck, they wouldn't find the subject too boring.

"So what did you girls do this summer?" Barney asked with a grin as he pulled his hair back into a low ponytail. "Quidditch, I hope."

His last statement was teasing, the worry in his eyes melting away to an amused sparkle. Angelica was a talented Chaser, and it made her popular with most of the boys of Gryffindor. Leona, on the other hand, preferred to sit in the stands and offer support. She wasn't as athletic, and Barney swore that he would get her into shape this year. His training for the team would be brutal, since he wanted to make sure that they earned the Cup this year, but he could probably tone it down to something Leona could manage. Between him and the others, they'd get her muscles burning in no time, he was sure. Speaking of the others, he had now seen everyone except for Oren, and he wondered where the last pure-blood had gotten off to tonight. It was a little unnerving to think about sometimes, knowing that Alec was the closest to understanding what it was like to have Muggle heritage and grow up outside of a magical community, despite his mother being a witch. At times, he felt more like an outsider than ever, knowing that the wizarding world, while a part of him, still didn't feel like home.

OREN 'RENLO' FULTON

"Breathe, you bloody idiot." It was sad how often Oren had to remind himself to utilize his body's most important organs at some of the most critical times - running up the various staircases of Hogwarts in a mad dash to the Great Hall for example. He had made the mistake of staying up all night to finesse his article to The Daily Prophet and had unfortunately fallen asleep on the train. Now his lungs and legs were hating him. He was missing the Sorting Ceremony, there was no doubt. How long had he slept?

Although, the be perfectly frank, it was one of the best sleeps he had ever gotten. Oren couldn't remember the last time he had fallen asleep to the slight jostle of the train as it ran its tracks. Something about it was comforting. His loud Ravenclaw compartment mates were a different matter, but nothing that he couldn't tune out with a simple spell to block the sound. When he had finally woke up thanks to a sharp shove by the train attendant, the sun had fallen. Apparently his spell also muted the sound of the students getting off the train. Figured.

At the top of the last set of stairs before the Great Hall, Oren allowed himself a small moment of rest. He crouched down, his hands holding his knees. Exercise of any kind, especially impromptu was not something that he could accomplish with ease. Sports could be left to the guys like Alec and Barney, not the bushy-haired social activist who was prone to wrist cramps from writing. As he slowly caught his breath, sounds from the Great Hall reached his ears and alerted him that the Sorting Ceremony had yet to begin, something that honestly surprised Oren. At least he wouldn't be making an awkward scene when he entered the Hall. After another small moment to compose himself, he inhaled deeply and made his way into the commotion.

There were several snickers as he went by, a few embarrassed glances, and a couple double-takes as he walked between the tables looking for his friends. Why some people were watching him was unbeknownst to him and he assumed he slept awkwardly and his hair was more in the air than usual. It was odd, but not uncommon. Since his third year he had begun to make a name for himself as the "House-Elf Hero," which was a name often used mockingly sure, but he had come to make it his own. Being a known activist for the rights of house-elves had earned its sneers, but not often this many glances and laughs. Still, Oren shrugged it off and sat beside Barney with a sigh.

If he had had the foresight to visit the bathroom before rushing into the Great Hall, he may have noticed that his Ravenclaw compartment mates had had quite a bit of fun practicing feminine make-up spells on his person. Instead, the oblivious Oren greeted his friends with a large smile and said, "Remind me not to fall asleep on the train ever again, thanks."

Leona looked at the two blokes as Alec spoke. She opened her mouth to answer but was interrupted by Angelica joining the three of them. Her glance shortly went to the girl's bandage on her arm and she joined Alec's condolences. "Me, too. I'm really sorry about what has happened this summer, Angelica.", she spoke and gave her a gentle smile, which she hoped was comforting but she never was sure. After spending the whole summer with her family and their friends she always felt different. Her parents were manipulative and she always felt their ways rubbing off on her. During the first few days back in school, she always needed a bit to get back to her usual self instead of her cold self she turned into with her family around. @Aart @thefan1

"But I certainly didn't miss you guys forcing me on a broom.", she told them with a grin and chuckled a little. She remembered the few times her friends had thought it was smart to force her on the broom. But her lack of experience and actual will to play had her falling off the broom and on her butt. She rolled her eyes at the thought and blushed a little. It seemed so embarrassing to her that she was a pureblood didn't seem to get a grasp of staying on something like a bloody broom. Yet her friends were keen on getting her back on another one. "So, no, I didn't spend my summer playing Quidditch. I leave that part to the insane ones but had to accompany my father to the Ministry...", she said leaving open what her father had to discuss there. @Wisp

Leona grinned happy at Oren as he approached them. "Oren!", she greeted him amused and glanced at his makeup. "You need to tell me how you do your eyeliner. I never get mine to look that great. It so often looks so uneven.", she sighed and snickered before adding "The eyeshadow does suit your eye colour, sweetheart." @Awkward Dino

Alec Hardy

CORTxJZWUAEX5Et.jpg

"Have you tried your mothers side?" Alec said. "Maybe there are any living relatives there."

He felt for the hurt girl. Alec knew how much finding a living relative meant for her. Although Alec really wanted to believe there still was one. He didn't. After years of searching. Together. He didn't believe there'd still be a family member for her. He'd never tell Yana though. It would hurt her a lot. So what Alec did instead was helping her search for her relatives. If that is what she wanted, then sure. Who was Alec to deny her the craving for a family. He should cheer her up. Alec looked around to think of something funny, while Yana looked down in sadness.
It was then Alec saw Oren sit down with his friend. Thank god for Oren. Oren was an activist. He fought for the rights of House-Elfs and the likes. "The House-Elf Hero" is what they called him. Oren had always been a weird bean. But Alec liked that about him. He didn't really gave two shits about what others thought and just did what he thought was right. A philosophy Alec would be on board with.

"Yan. It'll be alright." Alec said comforting. He ran his finger through her hair. "You don't have to do this alone, you know? I'm here for you. We'll find them together."
The girl seemed to have cheered up a bit.
"Oren his here too. This is your family here and now. It's our last year together. So let's enjoy it like family."
He knew the second sentence was a risky one. He did feel like that though. Barney, big and strong, would be the oldest brother. He and Yana would have been twins. Oren felt like his little brother, whom he'd always protect. Leone, his dear little sister. And Ange, who was... Well. He didn't know. She was a really important part of the family as well.

The two had joined the others. Alec had already heard the comments about the make-up. He didn't understand make up. But when he saw Oren. The man. The myth. The legend. The one and only. The House-Elf Hero. He couldn't help but laugh at him. His face was different. His eyes were done with eyeliner and other stuff Alec didn't know a damn thing about.

"Pretty little flower, you are." Said Alec laughing. "What's on your face? You like like a Disney princes." He said and he gave Oren a pet on his back. To make sure it was all fun and jokes. Alec realized they didn't know Disney. The food had popped up. Time for the feast. Alec sat down and asked:

"So now we're all here. How was your vacation?" He asked Barney for being the first person to answers his question. He was planning on asking everyone.
This was how it should be. He and his friends. Being together. With the sorting ceremony in the background. And after that. The magically good food. Oh, Alec loved Hogwarts.

With a forced smile and closed eyes, Angelica simply nodded as her friends expressed their condolences for her father's passing. Her father's death had been the first time she'd experienced the death of a loved one and she found herself stuck in the first stage of grief; denial. She figured that if she pretended her father wasn't dead - if she simply ignored the fact she would never see him again, then nothing would change. While she knew her friends meant well and was grateful for their love and support, it was still hard for her to acknowledge what happened. Like being pulled into reality from a wonderful dream, all Angelica could do was pretend she was awake and go on with her life while the daydream lingered in her mind. "There's no use in focusing on the past, is there? But thank you, I mean it," she said solemnly.

When Alec began stoking her bandaged arm, she quickly yanked it away from him and held it close to her chest. Her good friend stroking her arm would've been a welcomed action, even if it was only because she could use the gesture to tease him in the future. But the risk of him finding out what the bandage was hiding was to big, and if her friends were ever going to find out about her lycanthropy it was going to be because she told them, not just because of some silly mistake.
"I- sorry. It's just... there's a big scratch there and my arm is still pretty sensible. The healers said I wont turn because the werewolf had been in his human form, but it still hurts like hell," she explained after Alex had left the table.

"You bet! Trust me, with me as a chaser those little snakes don't have a chance against us. I'm leaving this school with the Quidditch trophy in hand, even if I have to steal it," she returned Barney's elbow jab as she spoke, her forced smile now replaced with the energetic look she held every time she spoke about Quidditch. This year could very well be her last on a broom, and she would rather give herself up to the Ministry than waste the few moments she had left. "I'll force the captain to double our training sessions, make them harder. By the time the year ends, I want us ready to play in the Quidditch World Cup. Might even make him get you to join, Leona. We can use that pretty face of yours to distract the blokes in the other team, what do you say?" She added with a wink. Barney and Alec might have luck with the ladies, but Angelica liked to believe she had more success with the girls than anyone else. Not that she felt any kind of romantic attraction towards Leona, but that didn't stop her from noticing her beauty and, most importantly, teasing her because of it.

Leona then admitted she'd been with her father in the Ministry, but Angelica was having none of it. The mere mention of the Ministry caused her blood to boil and made her see red. Those bastards deserved to be eaten by a pack of werewolves, just to have a taste of their own medicine. Hell, she'd be happy to volunteer to eat them herself if that took down their stupid werewolf laws.
"Please, don't even mention those idiots. Nothing more than boot-liking slugs who feast on the weaknesses of less fortunate folk," Angelica growled, slamming her fist against the wooden table with so much force she made the silverware in front of her jump.

Then, like some heavenly miracle, came the only thing that would lighten her mood after her jab against the Ministry. None other than Oren, with so much make up she didn't know wether to call him a model or a clown, joined the group. This. This was a golden opportunity. Something that would probably never be seen again, as rare as a bright shooting star.
"Oi! Don't disrespect the new lass! Tell me, love, did it hurt when you fell from the sky? Because you look like someone slammed your face against the concrete a thousand times. Is that blood or lipstick?"

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Angelica returned Barney's elbowing as she told him about her desire to win the cup this year, and he couldn't help but beam at her. Her obvious discomfort on the subject of the attack left him deciding then and there to reroute any conversation that drew towards the topic, protective instincts flaring at the thought of her upset. Raw feelings were best left to mellow before anyone should push things; she was still injured physically as well. The Chaser's obvious passion had lit up her entire face as she spoke about Quidditch, and she even mentioned getting the captain to double the training sessions. Unable to keep quiet any longer about what he'd managed to pull off, he cut in after she had winked at Leona.

"Well you're in luck - I didn't plan on going easy on anyone anyway!" Barney told the girls with exuberance. "Being captain this year means that Gryffindor will take the cup!"

It wasn't very surprising that the most Leona had done over the summer was visit the Ministry with her father; he was sure that her family expected her to follow in his footsteps. She could do so much better, though, and Barney couldn't help but join in on Angelica's teasing compliments. Honestly, he'd book the pitch with the head of Gryffindor just to teach her to enjoy flying if nothing else.

"Oh come on, Leona - we can have the pitch to ourselves, just you, me, Angie, and-" he said with what may have very well come across as a flirtatious smile towards both girls, only to be distracted by the newest arrival, who he greeted with a cheer. "Oren!"

"Remind me not to fall asleep on the train ever again, thanks." Oren told his friends with a friendly smile.

Barney's face lit up as Oren sat beside him, and he stifled a laugh at the girls' teasing. Alec even returned, throwing in a joke of his own and a pat on the back before sitting back on the opposite side of the table. He was unable to hold his laughter at the Disney princess comment, however, and flashed the Seeker a thumbs-up before redirecting his full attention to the last of their group to enter the Great Hall. Just in time, too.

"Duly noted - your face might be the result of the boys I kicked out of a compartment so that I could sleep," Barney told Oren as he pulled out his wand. "Want me to fix it for you?"

While he waited for Oren's response, Barney split his attention to Alec across the table. Iliana still hadn't joined them, but since Alec had returned, it surely wouldn't be much longer before their group was complete again. Mulling over his answer, the Keeper finally settled on what he wanted to share about his summer. When he went home in the summer, he generally didn't owl anyone unless they owled him first. Living in a Muggle neighbourhood meant that he had to be careful, and he couldn't be owling anyone constantly - it would draw too much attention. Not that he really ever did anything exciting by their standards, though.

"Isaac was over the moon when I came home in June and told him I could use magic outside of Hogwarts," Barney explained with a twirl of his wand. "He's still pretty upset that he hasn't got any magic of his own, but we spent the summer doing some much needed work on the house. Mom and Dad were pretty happy, too."

Leona looked at both Angelica and Barney as they kept on talking about Quidditch. She had almost zoned out by now as she glanced over to the Ravenclaw table to spot her sister. That was until her best friend mentioned her face. It brought a faint blush to her cheeks but caused her to raise her eyebrow. "I would prefer to distract the Slytherin blokes from the ranks instead of the pitch.", she answered trying to sound casual instead of flustered. She looked at both crinkling her mouth as they obviously tried to guilt trip her. It was working as she somewhat uncomfortable squirmed on the bench before sighing. "Fine! One day but not more! I'm not trying out to become a part of the team, alright?", she looked at both before turning back to Oren hoping he would grant her some help. Wisp Wisp fancries1 fancries1

Her gaze went back to her female friend as she seemed to get angered over the fact that she had been at the Ministry. Seconds later she casted her gaze down to her empty plate and busied herself placing food on her plate and filling her glass absentmindedly with juice. She hadn't enjoyed those stays at the Ministry and the constant meetings with the minister. Yet she did agree on some points. The current situation needed to get under control. But the way both her father and Bascus had agreed to do things. Most of the time she was seated in one of those expensive looking chairs and stayed quiet like she always did when it came to people disagreeing with her. The strange reaction of Anelica even made her a little jumpy.

"What's a Disney?", Leona asked Alec confused and looked between the three, who seemed to get the joke. It was simply lost on her and she frowned before turning back to Angelica. "I wasn't mocking. Just marvelling over Oren's flawless teint.", she spoke with a grin. fancries1 fancries1 Aart Aart Eleki Eleki

She figured that the only way she might get some answers was what Alec said. Her mother's side. "Well, I can only hope. However it doesn't really seem easy to acquire such information if I don't know where to look that is accessible to me. I mean... not even I got this musty old thing." she pointed at the parchment that practically gave her no answers whatsoever, except her birth mother's maiden name. Helena McDrew nee Williamson. At least it was now another step. Hopefully in the right direction.

With a loud sigh, she nodded at Alec's words, giving a soft half dimpled smile as he ran a finger through a lock of hair,
"You know what..." the blonde proceeded to roll the parchment, stuffing it inside her school robes. Completely forgetting it for the time being. She knew he was always there for her, as she was for him. No doubt. "You're right, you guys are my family and it's about bloody time I get my thoughts up straight and simply enjoy the moment." It was clear that finding out who her biological family was from scratch was a difficult task to begin with. It was about time to start appreciating the one she has now, her best-friends and her adoptive family. "To one day, hopefully getting some answers together. Now... food!"

As they, got up she followed Alec's steps towards the group, Oren had joined now which meant that they were all there. However as she joined the only thing she had managed to pick up from the conversation was the words Leona, becoming part of the team and pitch. She couldn't help but butt in. Popping her blonde haired locks from over Alec's shoulder she looked over at the huddled group, "Wait... what's this I hear? Leona is actually getting that arse on a broom?!" she said a grin on her face. She might have heard incorrectly as she picked the conversation from it's tail but it would be delightful news. Anything to get her out of tutoring session times!

tumblr_inline_nj3xcp1Ryj1t5dhaj.png
However as she evaluated her friends, her gaze fell on Angelica and the arm she was holding to her chest in a protective stance, "What happened there An?" she directed toward the brunette. Iliana was out all Summer and till now. She had been enjoying nice beaches in Bora Bora with the Hollands. It was all surf and hikes for her. Anything to sate her water loving, adventurous craves she always gets. Time for writing and receiving was quite on shut down. In fact it was one of the reasons that she had missed her friends as she haven't been in contact with any - except an owl to Alec before she departed from UK. However she had informed her group last year she had been going to a vacation.

Coming back to see Angelica with a bandaged hand was not something she wanted to see, her face tensed a bit.

"Muggle-secret" He teased Leona after his comment on Oren. A quick wink came from Alec's grey eye, which went towards Barney. Barney's summer was a lot like Alec's. Both in a Muggle neighborhood and such.

"Well... That's sounds nearly as dull as mine." Still smiling from the inside joke the pair just had. "How old is your little bro again?" Alec knew Barney had a younger brother who was also Muggleborn. He forgot if he could use magic or not.
As he wondered, Alec ate. He ate like he hadn't had anything on the train. Which he did. Some slices with bread and some peanut butter to keep them together. He especially liked meat. He loved every kind of it. Fish, Chicken, Cow, Pig. He loved it all. And at Hogwarts, they had it all.

Yana asked about the bandaged arm where Alec had earlier tried to comfortably stroke her arm. He remembered Yana was in Bora Bora. She sent him an owl before her departure. This meant she didn't knew about anything that happened last Summer with Ange and her father. Alec found the whole incident a disaster. He wasn't the brightest, but he wasn't stupid. Even he could see Ange was having problems with her fathers death. Naturally, off course. It's just that Ange was one to not show her feelings that much. He looked at her with an expression of concern on his face. He didn't agree with the Ministry and their view about Werewolves. But Alec did think they could be dangerous. He didn't understand why her father would go near them. And even bringing his daughter. Although Alec didn't really know what happened. Neither did the others. Maybe there was more to it.

"Ange." He said in an imploring way. "Would you like to tell Yana?"

He didn't want to put Angie on the spot. Not at all. Although that was what he did and he knew. But Al didn't want to have Yan learn about it by others. He'd want her to at least have a chance to tell it herself. She would find out anyway and it was best coming from Ange herself. Alec didn't like talking about someones back or gossiping. The gossip about Ange would have already hit the school by now, and he got angry just by the thought of it. He could already see them Slytherin shits. He decided there and then. If someone would in anyway make fun of Angelique or her dad, he'd take care of it.

Angelica replied to Leona's reluctant but well-received agreement to spending a day on the field with them with an amused smile, but focused on the Gryffindor Quidditch captain instead. "That's what they always say. Trust me, after one hour on the broom she'll be ready to try out for the team. Might even give you a run for the Keeper position!" She teased, all while knowing her words were nothing but lies. As much as she loved her friend and would love to have her on the team, she knew they couldn't have inexperienced players on the team. A new member could mark the difference between victory and failure, and this year was not for taking risks. "But, in case you want to be stubborn and not make the team, you can always be our head cheerleader. I heard muggles have thousands of those in their schools and they face off against the cheerleaders for other teams. The girls who make it out alive are the winners, right Barney?"

After some more teasing regarding Oren's fabulous makeup, Angelica began scanning the other tables for the boys responsible for painting his face. Oren's face were the only ones who should make fun of him, as long as it was all in good fun and nothing too mean-spirited. The others, however, would have to mess with her if they wanted to do anything to her friend. "Who were those boys again? I'd like to have a chat with them," she commented, scanning the Ravenclaw and Slytherin tables trying to find people looking at Oren. It was impossible to find the culprit, for more and more students were catching glimpses at Oren's face and snickering at his appearance. "Still don't get what they're laughing at, he still looks better than all of them combined."

Their group was finally completed when Illiana and Alec joined their side of the table once more. She remembered Illiana reminding them she would not be able to send any owls while she was in the beach and she couldn't wait to tell her friend how much she'd missed her. It had been a rather slow summer when it came to their communication. With Alec and Barney not being able to send owls due to their muggle neighbours, to Illiana being in Bora Bora to her spending a week in St. Mungos after the attack and then being too busy with the gossip that followed her father's funeral, it was almost like their owls were the ones on vacation. "Next time you go to the beach, take us with you instead of leaving us hanging. How was Bora Bora?" The brunette asked with a smile.

She still hadn't released her bandaged arm from her own embrace, but she quickly lowered it onto her lap after Illiana asked about her injury. The girl had most likely missed the prophet the week of the attack and hadn't messaged any of her friends. She should've seen this coming, she hadn't even tried to send a letter in her home while she was gone to share the news! Silence followed the girl's question, with Angelica opening and closing her mouth like a fish while trying to find the right answer. Lying about the wound would be easy enough, she just couldn't bring herself to openly admit that her father was gone, mauled to death by the creatures he'd fought so hard to protect. Coping with reality was hard enough when it was done inside her head. With her friends? It was a completely different story. They couldn't possibly understand how she felt, and she didn't want them thinking she was weak for ignoring the problem instead of dealing with it.

"No, no. I- I can do it," she replied, slightly shaking her head in Alec's direction. He was just a noble boy, Angelica almost felt bad for declining his offer. Her friend was only trying to help, but this was something she had to do on her own.

"I... suppose you know about the Minister and his anti- werewolf thoughts," she began, gluing her eyes to her plate and dragging her nails along her fork. "Well, my father wanted to prove him wrong, so we went to find a small pack with seemingly innocent werewolves. As luck would have it, we found them during the full moon," there was a small pause as Angelica shut her eyes and pictured the transformation. The memory was so detailed she remembered it as if it happened yesterday. She couldn't help but wonder how much her own transformation would hurt, but most importantly, wether she'd be able to shield herself from others before she killed someone else. "They turned, right in front of us. Dad and I ran until we found a young boy who hadn't turned yet. He took us to a cave where we were supposed to be safe, but he turned just as I blocked the entrance. I- he scratched my arm while I tried to fight him, but my father stopped him before he could bite me. I escaped while he was...busy... with my father, and now we're here."

The last few words had been impossible to get out. She'd felt a knot in her throat, preventing her from speaking and admitting her father was gone. She didn't know if the choking sensation was the one that made her shed a tear or if it was just grief, but she didn't stop it from running down her cheek. A tear was nothing. The others wouldn't think less of her if she cried after telling them she'd survived a werewolf attack, right? "You could say I had an interesting break."

The female grinned,
"Bora Bora was a blast! It was literal heaven. So peaceful. Just me and the waves... I never shredded a wave so bloody hard." Her voice was rather joyful. Yana lived to be in the sea - in fact, taking after her adoptive father she trained to become a professional swimmer. Taking part in many swimming competition. Both local and international. "I also kept hiking ever morning. To a point where my feet actually bled! It was fuel to an adventure man."

The female chuckles at Angelica's remark, "I would have brought you with me love but the quid is running low," she said as she gestured money with her fingers by rubbing her right index finger and thumb together, "It would have been a jam if you all were to join me."

However, as Angelica proceeded, Yana's cheery facial expression faded. It was as if the color drained from her face, her heart felt tight. Lips forming a straight line. No wonder how Alec had stooped to such a serious tone, which was unlikely. It was definitely not what Yana expected out of Angelica's answer. Out of one of her good friends to say the least.

'Oh, I just fell off while flying and sprained my arm. No big deal.' is what Iliana had playing in her mind. Not a werewolf attack. Quite the contrary.

latest
She was speechless, however not quite in a positive way. Her lips parted to say something. No words came out. For various reasons. One of them being that she hated herself for not noticing this before. What happened to Angelica. Seemed like she was the last one to know cause she wasn't around. True she was on vacation but she could have been there on the train and beginning of ceremony but no. She had to be isolated trying to figure a piece of crappy parchment in hopes for her desperate family search to progress. A search that literally wasn't going or leading to anywhere. Another was that to a very small extent the female can understand the loss of a father, being an orphan. Only it was worse on Angel because she knew and loved her father unlike Yana who despised him for abandoning her before she could walk or speak.

"Angelica... I'm sorry to hear what happened," was all she could muster at this stage. Yana was not one to excuse a situation nor did she believed in pity. Sorry was simply not in her vocabulary. However she could relate. She knew that saying it will all be good, would be a lie. Or at least not the right time if it was fresh. She couldn't even begin to imagine what her friend is going through. The grief. Yana's emotions were fueled by those she cares for - mainly the folks around her and her adoptive parents. If they're saddened, so is she. If they're over joyed, so is she. "I won't say it's going to be alright, at least not for now. But I really do hope that it will. Look at it this way, it could have been far worse. Thank Merlin that werewolf boy didn't get you both. Your father's sacrifice was not in vain cause you're with us." she said with a soft sigh, patting the brunette's shoulder.

tumblr_inline_nj3xcp1Ryj1t5dhaj.png
It seemed the ceremony was or had come to an end, she was blank half way if not all the way through until she was interrupted by Hardy. Standing up to stretch the female got impatient sitting down. So like her, can't sit still for one minute. It was as if she had springs implanted in her body to constantly move. She turned her attention to the group,
"Anyone up for a late night fly? Or you guys have another idea up your sleeves?" she inquired, wanting to change the subject and aroma a bit. It was unlikely to decline but it seemed there might be some nos due to the subject that was just brought up. Iliana wanted something that was mutual with the little group of Gryffindors to lighten things up and mainly take minds off a bit from the situation.

In her case, gets her mind off of her long search of finding a living relative.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"Or Alec for Seeker!" Barney laughed, tone teasing. "Competing to be on the cheer squad is downright deadly, you know."

The Quidditch captain cleaned his friend's face up with a flick of his wand, flashing Oren a smile as he did so. He'd drawn enough attention for the evening; regardless of what the girls had to say, if Oren wanted to wear makeup, he was best off applying it himself. The handiwork of some younger students wasn't worth keeping, especially through dinner. When Leona asked about what Disney was, he couldn't help but be glad that Alec was in on things.

"Huge Muggle secret. Extremely well-kept." Barney agreed. He turned to Alec, a grin on his face. "Isaac turned fourteen this June. Think the Ministry will mind if I get him on a broom?"

The Sorting Ceremony had ended during the Gryffindors' conversation, goblets filling and food flourishing across the house tables. As his own plate filled with parmigiana, his friends' plates filled with their dinners of choice as well. To his disappointment, Angelica had to explain her summer to the group, as well as any eavesdroppers that had noticed how she favoured her injured arm. He wanted to comfort her - a hug, a hand on her shoulder, something - but the way that she had shrunk into herself told him that it wouldn't be a welcome action. When she needed them, they would be there. In the meantime, the five of them would have to run interference for her. She shouldn't have to explain herself to anyone; the rumour mill knew enough already, he was sure.

"Anyone up for a late night fly? Or you guys have another idea up your sleeves?" Iliana asked, looking restless.

"Actually, I was thinking we could do a little late night strategy talk before bed," Barney told Iliana after taking a drink of his water. "Get up early, take advantage of the fact that Quidditch season doesn't start until November. Let's get Leona and Oren on brooms before the pitch is booked for the season."

21018383_20130709161209385.jpg

"What's that supposed to mean?", she asked looking at the boys as they teased her about this Disney thing. "Muggle secret. Psh. I bet if I asked someone else they would give me a proper answer.", she muttered under her breath unsure, if it really was a secret. Based on both blokes grin, it wasn't but rather an inside joke. One that she didn't understand. Leona glanced at Iliana and Angelica hoping to get a proper answer from the girl but it seemed like her best friends were busy with something else. She crinkled her mouth just lightly showing her annoyance to the topic that she didn't seem to understand. Aart Aart Wisp Wisp

She sighed as people elaborated her agreement to actually get on a bloody broom. It wasn't that big of a deal so people better stayed quiet about it. "Yes, I'm going to go flying tomorrow. Even on a bloody broom.", she told Iliana and continued "But no, no keeper, seeker or any position in that brutal sport you call Qudditch. I prefer having my feet on the ground where they belong and not dangling meters off the ground.", she spoke and looked at all the sport fanatics pointing her fork at each of them. "I'd rather hex you all than become part of the team.", she threatened but was very well aware that she would never go through with that hex. She might be talented in that department and her parents made sure that she studied Dark Arts outside of Hogwarts but she hadn't used a single curse on anyone so far. Aart Aart Wisp Wisp revalia revalia

Her gaze went to Barney as he asked if the Ministry would allow him to get a broom for his Muggle brother. "I would be careful if I were you. Bascus is under a lot of pressure lately and those...those attacks didn't help. People like my father are...are talking to him and they wouldn't like seeing a Muggle on a broom. If he has one and actually uses it, it might be unpleasant for you.", she talked around the topic in a way that she hoped Barney would understand that it might be better to not get his brother one. "Besides I'm not even sure if it would work for him. I mean I'm no expert in how those brooms operate but I'm positive that you need to be a witch or a wizard to operate one.", she spoke and smiled apologetic. Wisp Wisp

She sighed as they seemed to agree on talking Quidditch tactics after the Welcoming Feast. "Seriously?", she asked looking incredulous at both Iliana and Barney. "You're not even back for a day and need to hold a meeting?", she asked and continued "Guess I have to find new friends for the evening."

Alec Hardy
CORTxJZWUAEX5Et.jpg

"The ministry minds everything." Alec said mockingly after the suggestion by his friend. He remembered 2 years ago. Alec had bewitched a boy a couple of blocks from his place. He had it coming though. He ought to not have had such a big mouth. "Is your brother bummed out about not being a wizard?" It was an dumb question with an obvious answer. Alec felt slightly embarrassed. He played it off and gave him a forced smile, hoping he wouldn't notice his stupid question.

Oren sat down, his face now cleaned up. He'd love to find the person who did it. He wanted to know the spell himself. It was a pretty good one. He then realized girls did this on themselves. Everyday. Some without using magic. Alec came to the conclusion it would be one hell of a drag to do everyday. Aah.. Make-up. To make an ugly girl pretty and to make a pretty girl even prettier. Muggle magic really.

When Angelique told Illiana about Summer. He still felt so, so sorry for her. He saw a tear a water drop down her cheek. Just like rain. Angelique was sobbing. Alec looked around the Great HallA sight which wasn't often seen by him or the others. . Looking out for any gossipers he could stare in the eye. He gave all the tables an impending look and then returned to Angelique. Yana told her some encouraging words. There had to be something he could do to help her. At least cheer her up.

"Every little thing, is gonna be alright"

Alec sang in a slow rhythm. He was clipping his fingers along the base. The group looked at him in disbelief. "Oh, come on! Bob Marley? Three Little Birds? Even Wizards know him, right?" He looked around. He laughed awkwardly. At least the focus was on him now. He was delighted when Yana asked:

"Anyone up for a late night fly? Or you guys have another idea up your sleeves?" Yana said. Yana was the kind of girl whom was the last to leave the party.

Alec smiled and nodded approvingly.

"Actually, I was thinking we could do a little late night strategy talk before bed. Get up early, take advantage of the fact that Quidditch season doesn't start until November. Let's get Leona and Oren on brooms before the pitch is booked for the season." Barney said, full of enthusiasm.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" The brown-haired boy said eagerly.

Alec couldn't agree more. He missed his broom. He realized he hadn't flown the whole Summer. Suddenly a rush of adrenaline ran through his veins. Quidditch.
Alec didn't took pride in many things. Simply because he didn't have many things to be proud of. He was an average student and known as a troublemaker in the school. The one thing he was good at was Quidditch. And yes, he did show this off and did take pride in it. He wasn't as near as good as Barney. Barney was fundamentally unbeatable and compared to the best Keepers ever to guard the three poles at Hogwarts. Alec could just fly. Fly faster and more flexible than anyone else could.

The Gryffindor girl didnt look up from her plate as her friends tried to comfort her. Her replies were nothing but mere nods and sighs. It was all she could muster after having to go through what happened during the worst days of her life. She was well aware of the other students listening to their conversations, trying to gain new juicy gossip for the story of the fallen Ministry officer. She didn't care much about gossip- never had, never will. But she wouldn't give the others the satisfaction of seeing her cry. If they wanted her tears, then they will have to fight for them. Angelica knew she had to be stronger than them, for the good of her friends and her own.

"Marley who?" Angelica replied with a fake smile, raising her eyes to look at Alec. "You go ahead and keep your muggle singers, all I need is a nice record of the Weird Sisters and the Quidditch cup in my hand and I'll die a happy woman."

Her face lit up with the promise of late-night Quidditch strategy planning. While she was eager to get on a broom after so much time away from it, one of the most essential parts needed for a successful Quidditch team was a genious strategy. They couldn't just go wild and waste precious time so early into the year. "We should start making reservations for the field, too. I heard the Slytherins already have a plan to keep us out of the field, like always."

Angelica wasn't known for having the best ideas. In fact, a good portion of her plans ended with her in detention making new plans to get out of having to clean the great hall after dinner. This never stopped her, and when the idea came to her mind she couldn't stop herself from telling her friends all about it. Yes, it was risky, but potentially genious as long as the execution was well done. "You know, the feast is about to end, meaning everyone will go straight to the common room. We all know how hectic the first night back in the common rooms is. With the teachers preparing for the first day of classes and the students catching up with their friends in the rooms, the Quidditch field is bound to be free. We could sneak out, practice a bit, see if they made any new changes and sneak back into the castle before anyone even realizes we're gone. What do you say?"

As she heard Barney following up her idea she pouted. "I was looking forward towards the action rather than the statistics but alright I suppose..." the female scrunched up her nose. Iliana was more of a in the moment kind of person rather than just planning. She never knew which way that bludger would be coming from so spontaneous actions she needed them rather than planning. Each player in their team was good at what they do.

Barney and his skills in keeping those three holes impenetrable by a quaffle, Alec and his fast reflexes and swift flying in catching that snitch and also not to forget Angelica's mad dodging and striking on a broom. As for her, she needed upper core strength. Hitting a heavy crazy darting ball with that bat single handed, let alone in the right direction. Thankfully Yana didn't lack upper strength, not by a bit.

"Not just the Slytherins... even the Ravenclaws," she pointed out. Her ex is a Ravenclaw and a beater of

the ravenclaw team as well and word passes very quickly. The couple are still friends after all. Despite that the guy still spoke to Yana about everything only she uses that in her own ways. The poor bloke still blurts out every information she asks for.
"Also, the Ravenclaws are short a chaser, Darley dropped out." Darley was a well-known chaser in the Ravenclaw team. "Their try-outs are by the end of this week. It just makes competition easier ha!"

The female stood up from her seat instantly,
"Nonetheless I agree with Angel here, lets get going to the common room. The sooner I get this ADHD arse on my broom cause I can't handle another second not moving!" the blonde said with a chuckle facing her group to see if they're ready to move.

"Ah, yeah, I suppose. He's been on a broom before, but not without me," Barney agreed with a small frown towards Alec and Leona. "I just feel bad, y'know? Nothing to be done about him being Muggle. There's gotta be something I can do to involve him more in this half of my life."

At the very least, Barney wondered if he could get tickets to the Quidditch World Cup. Maybe if he got a team to scout him, they'd get him tickets; his friends would understand if he chose to take his Muggle family over them, right? There was no use in coming up with imaginary scenarios, though, and he refocused on the conversation as Alec's reference to Bob Marley fell flat. Even Iliana seemed to overlook it - it flashed across his mind that she had been raised Muggle, too - and he chose to just go with the rest of the group, focusing on the topic of Quidditch. Even for those who didn't play, it was a safe subject. Leona complained lightly about the group's priorities, going so far as to joke about finding different company for the evening.

"And leave us with only half of our cheer squad? Our morale won't recover!" Barney told her, placing a hand to his chest for dramatic effect..

On the other hand, Alec, Angelica, and Iliana were all eager to follow through with his suggestion. He knew that they would be more eager to get on the pitch than to just sit around talking tactics, but there was only so much he could run by opposing captains. If Gryffindor was going to take the cup this year, he needed their input. Tryouts didn't start until October, and-

"Their try-outs are by the end of this week. It just makes competition easier ha!" Iliana told the group with a laugh about the Ravenclaws.

"What, this early? No way. They must be testing last year's players to prep for tryouts later in the month," he said with a slight frown. However, his expression brightened with his next words. "Unlike those bookworms, I already know who's in top shape."

He winked at no one in particular - just the group as a whole, really - and pondered Angelica's suggestion. Not a half-bad idea, although he really wanted to show them some of his plays. Halfway through spacing out to figure out how he was going to get his playbook from the common room and still sneak down to the pitch to meet up with everyone, Barney realized how ridiculous he was being. He was a wizard, for god's sake! It wasn't like he hadn't memorized the plays he'd been considering, and he could just use magic to draw them out for the others down at the pitch.

"As long as we still talk strategy, I'm game for sneaking out to the pitch," Barney agreed. "Nothing really changes with the field itself, but last year the hoops were in a pretty awful state."

Just the thought of the incident left him grimacing. The groundskeeper had surely done a better job this year - not to mention the flying instructor and referee - to make sure that things didn't go into disrepair over the summer. Charms and enchantments needed to be refreshed, after all; if it wasn't a permanent sticking charm, it probably wasn't going to last. Looking around the Great Hall, he nodded, mostly to himself.

"We can slip out with the majority of the crowd when dinner is over - that's when everyone is more focused on herding the first years," he suggested.
