My Interest Check
For centuries on end, countless species have trod against the harsh reality of mother nature, yet only a relative few have managed to claim the land and sea for themselves. The vast human race stands proud with this accomplishment, predominately due to the unique evolution that has matured our people into masters of the El'yssian biomes. Yet even with such an illustrious title, the human race remains but an insignificant speck in the grand diction of life--a small fraction of what has been, and an even smaller fraction towards what could be.

Ten percent...

This is the estimated coverage of the world that has been documented by the six great nations of our race. Within our records, there are countless species ranging from the smallest of herbs to the greatest of beasts that reign over the seas. To some, the idea of the unknown is a fearful prospect; however, for many, the fantasy of its mystery spurs a greater sense of belonging.

Glory, fame, wealth, and knowledge...

Decades of expeditions have been fueled by the conflicting passions of our race. Yet even with our differential goals, a single emotion has remained consistent across all of our generations. That emotion is curiosity.

Curiosity has instilled us with an insatiable hunger that drives us to the boundaries of the world in search of the secrets we have yet to uncover. Curiosity has spurred us to the ruins of our ancestors in search for the origin of our kind. Curiosity has forced us to look to the future and wonder what potential awaits us still.

Curiosity is what has driven the Guild to the overall greatness that it has come to achieve, and now, it is your turn to dawn the mantle of your forefathers and plunge into a world where both danger and adventure awaits.

This is your story. Welcome to El'yssi.

The Guild

Introduction
In an era when human curiosity has given rise to unbridled exploration, the Guild has become an important organization from a political and economical standpoint. It exists as more than a simple vector for exploration. It is an illustrious city-state hosted within its own region and governed by a forum of representatives from each nation. While it originally began as a safe haven for aspiring adventurers, it has now grown into a behemoth institution that manages the education, well-being, and regulation for all Explorers and their subsequent conduct. The Guild's mission is to achieve total documentation and understanding of El'yssi. This includes both the known continent as well as the mysteries that have yet to been discovered.

On a day to day basis, the Guild seeks for the diamonds in the roughs from countless hopeful adventurers. Not everyone is fit for the job of an Explorer, and it is the Guild's responsibility to target those who have the potential to walk the unknown and bring further understanding to our world.

That being said, everyone must start somewhere, and that "somewhere" is a Seeker. It is only after a set of arduous trials that Seekers are deemed official Explorers of the Guild; after which, they are then tasked with Quests that help to charter the land. Only the top Explorers move on to become Loremasters, and it is at this point they are deemed a professional in their field of research and study.

Roles

  • Seekers are fledgling explorers who are tasked to seek basic knowledge and understanding of the world. All candidates who wish to join the Guild are required to begin their adventure as a Seeker. Personal experience and latent skills are non-factors in this decision.

Because there is such a high demand for joining the Guild, all Seekers are required to undergo a series of qualifications to determine their aptitude as an Explorer. Seekers are placed into small teams of two or three individuals, with a qualified professional chosen as their mentor and guide. For one month, every team is subjected to a hellish boot-camp in which they will learn survival skills, tools of the trade, and basic knowledge surrounding the local flora and fauna of Genruni.

After successful qualification in their final examination, graduates of the Seeker program are given their official title as a D-Rank Explorer of the Guild.

Races

  • It is the resilience of the Chitós that gives them their recognition among the other races. Having made the cold north of Kryorra (Cry-Ore-Ra) their home, it is under some of the harshest climates that they have adapted to survive. Thick skin and muscular definition are common among both genders; however, it is their short stature which gives them their unique image. Five feet is considered substantial by their standards--the average for the other races being a nearly six feet in height. As a race, they are defined by sheer kindness and warmth, which stem from the tender hearts of their soul. Lost and stranded explorers are a common theme in the mountains of the north, and it is the Chitós who strive in coming to their aid. With animal partners by their side, the Chitós are highly talented trackers, and it is because of this selfless duty that their race has been dubbed The Protectors of the North.

The Chitos civilization has expanded across the northern region of Krýorrá with a majority of their residence found carved into the mountains themselves. As a generalization, the Chitos are avid blacksmiths that forge their own weapons and armor, which are then distributed as commodity. Chitonian goods are some the best in the land, with nation vendors paying top gold for even the lowest quality gear forged by the novice blacksmiths. That being said, trade with the Chitós tends to be sporadic given the risks associated with traversing the north.

    Appearances
The cold north is a land of minimal sun due to the constant blizzard that envelops the region. Because of this, the Chitos are pale individuals, whose ability to handle heat is often sub par at best. In addition to their short stature, they are known for their beautiful shades of white and grey hair and their striking blue eyes. Although there is no conclusive evidence for such claims, it is believed that their hair and eyes are an evolutionary adaption to help blend into their environment. Lastly, while it is not a natural trait, the Chitos are known to be covered in various tattoos which represent their family crest and any major accomplishments that have been achieved during their lifetime.

    Weapons

Although the Chitos are famed for a wide range of weapon production, they are partial to only a few kinds. Finesse is the last trait to describe a member of the Chitos clan--a fact that is further enforced by the brutish style of their berserker-like Force Arts. Axes and hammers are their melee weapons of choice, while crossbows are utilized when range is deemed necessary.

    Animal Partners

The Chitos are unique in that all children are required to make a pact with an animal companion. This pact acts as a right of passage in their culture, and is seen as an official initiation into their respective clan. While the North offers a wide breadth of potential companions, there are common themes among the chosen:

    • Snow Hawks are majestic predators of the sky. Unlike ordinary hawks, these are much larger in size and boast unique adaptions to their environment. Due to the blizzard which curses the north, snow hawks are blessed with a highly thermal body and a hydrophiliac oil that coats their plume. This combination of traits allows them to easily fly through a storm of snow without suffering the consequences of weight or freeze. They are classified as medium-sized animal with a C rank threat. Adult snow hawks stand nearly three feet of the ground and have a wingspan of over eight feet wide.
    • Northern Mules best resembles a hybrid between a bison and a moose. They are gifted with large antlers that help to ward off northern predators while their body is covered in a long, matted fur that allows for optimal heat reservation. Northern mules travel in herds which primarily traverse in and about the mountainous region of Krýorrá. Despite their bulky size and stature, they are adept at scaling steep or rocky terrain and are often tamed by traveling merchants. They are classified as a large-sized animal and a D rank threat. Adults are capable of reaching heights of seven feet tall.
    • Crystal Wolves are a sub-species of large wolves native to the north. Out of all animal companions, this species is considered a rare blessing from the God, Pakaigos, himself. Crystal wolves are majestic creatures whose bodies protrude a unique mineral known as kygonite. This mineral is naturally shed over the course of a wolve's life, and is known for being one of the most flexible, yet durable ores to work with. Because crystal wolves travel in packs, these animals are never stripped away for the sake of a single Chitos. In order to bond with a crystal wolf, the child must forge a connection with every member of the pack. From that point on, the lineage of the wolves will forever follow the lineage of the family they have been bonded too. Crystal wolves are categorized as a medium sized animal with the largest of specimens standing nearly five feet from the ground. They are considered a B rank threat, known for their predatory behavior as cunning hunters

Nations

  • Agriagi, the Wild Plains located in the southern most region of El'yssi. Although it is one of the five recognized nations of the world, it is under a Guild sanction due to the violent nature of its everyday life. Agriagi is known for some of the most aggressive creatures to walk the land. Survival of the fittest is the only law which defines the savannah, and many Explorers have lost their lives attempting to document the secrets that are hidden within. Members of the Guild who do not originate from Agriagi are required at least an A rank or above to undertake quests in the area.

    Government
Agriagi is a lawless land ruled by the numerous tribes of the Thauri. Each tribe is overseen by an iron fisted alpha who claimed his position through absolute dominance. These Alphas are proud members destined to bring glory or destruction to the tribal name. All across the land, tribes wage war against each other, in an endless pit for the best offerings of land. Even amongst a single tribe, in-fighting is a common theme as youth and veterans, alike, constantly threatened the title of alpha. Because of this fact, Thauri leadership is in a constant flux and often changes on the whim of the strong.

    Environment
The lands of Agriagi range from the endless plains of its northern and southern savannas to the blistering deserts found in the central regions of the continent. Trees are a rarity in these lands. Instead, they are littered with a diverse collection of rich brush and grasses. Agriagi is known for the widest diversity of fauna--most of which are predators locked in an eternal battle of survival. Despite its stigma of violence, Agriagi remains at the top of the "most desired exploration grounds" due to the underdeveloped records of its environments and the numerous ruins which litter the untouched deserts.

    Deities
Kytikó (Kai-Ti-Ko): The God of Blood and Hunt is the primary deity worshiped by the Thauri. He is portrayed as a magnificent beast which shares appearances with that of tiger and bear. Above all else, Kytiko represents unwavering power and pride--the prime alpha to which the Thari bow their heads and knell unto. The hunts and battles that the Thari undertake are often dedicated as offerings to the lone god they hope to receive blessing from.

Trinity Arts
The Trinity Arts define the combative elements of El'yssi. There are three categories of combat arts that exist in the world. Some categories come more natural to certain races; thus, members of that race are more likely to develop their talents faster than members of a less inclined race. This is not to say that a less-inclined race cannot learn said art--it will just take more effort or even require a mentor to learn.

  • The Force arts represent all physical combat styles which include but are not limited too, martial arts, weapons mastery, and defensive techniques. Although all races are capable of learning elements of these arts, they are most effective in the hands of the Thauri, Northern Soeri, and the Chitos. Compared to the other arts, Force arts are highly dependent on the body and talent of their user; as such, innate strength or years of rigorous training provide substantial growth with the art.
