Name: Richard Lockhart
Appearance:

Gender: Male
Race/Species: Caucasian American
Age: 42
Height: 6'1

Costume:

Hero Name: Night Watch
Super Power: Gadgets
Arch Nemesis: Bedlam

Personality:
Richard is calm and calculated, often seeming distant and cold. But those who know him, know he's be kind and quick witted. He is deeply passionate about keeping those he cares about safe, even if he doesn't always articulate it.

Background:
Richard grew up in a rich household, the child of the CEO of a brilliant tech company; the company he took over once his father passed. He found love and married, moving in to his family's mansion with his wife. One night, when coming home from work, he found his house broken into. His furniture smashed, some riches stolen, his wife.....murdered.

For months he tracked down the people who committed such a crime and killed them. Realising that he had become as bad as the people he killed, Richard vowed not to cross that line again; but also knew that people like these still needed justice. So, he became the feared Night Watch

Years later he formed the Guardians of Justice and fought with them for many years. But after what was known as The Babylon event was stopped, Nightwatch left the team due to moral differences and returned to his city.

Name: Marianne Jeanne

Appearance: Marianne is rather tall. the person is quite androgenous, with rather strong features, and a flat chest (praise be the binders). The comrade has muscles, and can pack a punch, but isn't all that strong compared to.... like almost everyone else. in dnd, they're a paladin with a 20 in charisma and a 12 in strength.

Gender is an abstract metaphysical construct created to enforce a system of power. Agender and any pronouns work but They-Them is preferred. they are also Afab if you care but like- no.

Race/Species: Human.

Age: 21

Height: 6'2

Costume: Marianne has no need for disguises and denying their authentic self. look, it's just a red leather jacket with a ton of political pins on it, a kevlar vest under an Emma Goldman tee shirt, and black denim pants. or whatever they're wearing at that point.

Hero Name: Prolitariate Protector, or the Red Terror, depends on who you ask ((*wheeze*))

Arch Nemesis: Lady Wolf ((and also several governments, but if they join this group, they receive... not quite diplomatic immunity, but still protection))

Personality: Marianne is serious. the comrade almost never smiles. they are quick-witted, more than a little reckless, and has a major martyr complex. needless to say, if they let themself see a therapist, that sucker would be making bank. Mari (though if you call them by that nickname.... ehhh just don't....) is hella stubborn and is not afraid to speak truth to power. they wear their opinions on their sleeve and are eloquent, an excellent speaker, and extremely persuasive. Marianne abhors death, though their power sometimes causes it. when they kill, or when they fail to save a life, the guilt continued to burden them.

Background: Marianne was born to a professor and a no longer practicing lawyer, in the suburbs of a major midwestern city, just far away enough for the homophobes and ultra-conservatives to start rearing their ugly heads. the young child was bullied for being the odd child out, often anti-social and secluding themself. of course, they did have.... one... friend. a relatively popular kid, a girl named Liliana. the two were very close from third grade on to high school, Marianne beginning to harbor feelings for the girl.

In their freshman year, Mari came out as agender and a sapphic to their parents, and they were.... well... yeah... not the greatest.... viewing the whole "they-them" thing as a phase.... their mom and dad were fine with the gay part because the two understood that, at least. in school, the rebel began to fight back against her tormenters, often winding up with blackened eyes or a split lip. only Liliana stood beside them, though she was now dating another rich boy, a senior. Mari didn't know why their heart twinged so painfully at that.

after speaking at their first protest, Mari wound up cornered by a gang of your standard white supremacists (or they thought they were just standard hecklers). yet, when one of them threw a punch, Marianne threw up their hands in defense, only for there to be a flash of light, blasting the three neo-nazis back. Marianne panicked, making a run for it then.

Of course, they told no one of what had happened, thinking that they had gone slightly mad instead. one night, though, in junior year, Liliana showed up at their house at midnight, bruises on her face. Mari pulled her into a hug after bringing her up the stairs, only for the injury to heal with a soft golden glow. Liliana, however, upon seeing it, pushed away from Mari, a look of panic and guilt on her face. Mari tried to call after her, but Liliana ran. that was the last time they saw her.

since then, Mari had thrown themself into their cause, severing all connections, running away from home the day after they graduated. since then, they have played roles in numerous uprisings, speaking out publicly against many governments, then eventually taking out a few particularly corrupt leaders, always being followed by who they think is CIA, maybe Interpol and Mossad... but those three organizations don't view them as a priority... rather, it is agents of a different villain, a billionaire with powers of mind control, known as Lady Wolf... oh and also the FSB is trying to identify the author of a popular Russian anti-authoritarian blog that, no matter how hard they try, they can't shut down. fuck Putin. glory to Ukraine

Super Power: Literally Communism Marianne Jeanne has the power of energy manipulation. specifically, if a person is an innocent, they can heal any and all injury (easy) as well as regrow missing limbs (though that is very very draining.... don't worry, they always overwork themself.)) now, if the person is an enemy, but a soldier of the enemy, they can incapacitate them, but, if they are only a misguided footsoldier, who through their lack of education joined, and are not truly evil, then they cannot kill them. now, in the case of tyrants and those who truly know the evil they do, and arent sorry... oh yeah.... it's death.... though they do not want to use it. this power manifests in blasts of light, ranging in shade from warm gold to harsh white to a fiery red.

Trivia:
so Lady Wolf had a daughter, who's her right-hand man, and is equally a bitch.... but Mari and her have a.... strange.... relationship
Mari would always place in the top three on the state level on speech team while in high-school
Mari refuses to admit to it, but they watch project runway
before they got powers, they had wanted to be a lawyer
and now they're wanted in four countries ((for political assassinations.)) Iran, Russia, North Korea, and America, which makes things a little bit awkward....
I was thinking Marianne would be the group healer/crowd control?

Name: Daniel Reeds
Appearance:
1623037121260-png.889393

Gender: Male
Race/Species: Mixed (Hispanic/Caucasian) Human
Age: 27
Height: 6'0"
Costume: Daniel's disguise is modeled after a hunter's traditional gear. He has a light jacket with fur embedded across the sleeves, making it look as though he's halfway transformed into some creature, along with his pants. He also has a snakeskin quiver and bow that were originally meant as purely decorative, but were adapted to be used if Daniel wasn't able to shift while fighting. Along with these, he had a pair of fingerless archery gloves, padded at the palm to resemble paws. Instead of a mask, he has a pair of dark sunglasses that are held in place using spirit gum.
Hero Name: Actaeon
Arch Nemesis: None
Personality: Most people don't know very much about Daniel. When you first meet him, he can be quiet and solitary, only speaking when he has something he feels like he needs to a. When he gets comfortable, though, he tends to be a warm jokester, but can still be serious when the situation requires. He acts like a big brother, fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares for, but still knows how to tease them.
Background:
Daniel's life started pretty rough. His father left as soon as he was born, and his mother died when he was a toddler. He was taken to Washington state, where he grew up with his aunt and uncle. They were nice, sure, but they were both still young, and not equipped with raising a child that wasn't theirs. Daniel spent most of his time alone, coming home from school to an empty house, his aunt and uncle usually at work or with friends. When he turned 16, his aunt and uncle decided they wanted to start a family of their own, and Daniel wasn't a part of that picture. They decided to send him off to boarding school for the rest of his education, with enough spending money to last him the next two years.

For most of his first year there, Daniel was completely alone. He wasn't pegged as the 'loser' kid, but he kept to himself, and others kept their distance. When club rush came, though, Daniel heard of the hunting club- this is a rich kid boarding school, remember?-, and, being a hormonal teenager with more than one chip on his shoulder, he figured he'd give it a go. To his surprise, he actually really liked it. He made some quick friends in the club, and the occasional outing trips they took were an easy relief from everything that had happened throughout his life.

The summer after senior year, Daniel and some of his hunting buddies went on a month-long retreat to a cabin (rich kid stuff, am I right?). While they were there, Daniel took a stupid dare to try and shoot one of the many wolves that roamed the area. Daniel, being a stupid teenager at the time, decided it would be a funny stunt, and that night, tired and somewhat intoxicated, he went out to try and shoot one. Surprisingly, he managed to hit one, but unfortunately for him, the wolf he hit happened to be a nature spirit in disguise. Enraged, the spirit cursed him to be transformed into each type of animal he'd killed for one year each.

Five surprisingly quick years later, Daniel was lifted from his curse and transformed back into a human. The first year or two were frightening, but over time, Daniel learned to deal with the instincts that came with being an animal, and learned things from his time cursed. He'd experienced the loyalty of a wolf, the quickness of a rabbit, the instincts of a stag. It was enlightening, almost- but he'd come back to no friends, no family, nothing to speak of.

Seeing this, the spirit that had originally cursed him took pity on him, and decided to cut him a deal- he could live as any animal for a year, and when he came back, he'd gain the ability to borrow the senses and strengths of those animals, and even transform into them as he pleased. Daniel was reluctant at first, but decided to heed the spirit's offer, and over the next few years, lived more lives than most humans dreamed of.

By the time he completed his fourth year, Daniel had come back to a city he didn't even recognize. The small town he'd went to school in was now a giant metropolis- a noisy, polluted, crime-filled one, at that. Superhumans were on the rise, and while Daniel had heard of those with powers throughout his life, he was so far removed from all of that, it didn't even seem like it mattered.

Daniel decided that he'd at least try to live as a human again for a bit, and over the next few months, he watched the city continue to deteriorate. His life felt monotonous, a loop of work, eat, sleep, that it was almost comparable to his lives as animals- though instead of spending his days hunting through the forest, it was spent in a Mcdonald's. At some point, though, Daniel was able to recall his original pact with the nature spirit- he had his powers. Why not use them?

Over the next few weeks, Daniel started working as his own vigilante. It was cathartic, being able to let out all his pent-up energy chasing down criminals. It was almost like hunting to him- though he never let himself get that lost in it. Eventually, though, the local authorities caught up to him, but instead of detaining him, they ended up offering him up- to the Guardians.
Super Power: Shapeshifting - According to the terms of his agreement with the nature spirit that cursed him, Daniel can borrow the senses, and even temporarily take the form of any animal he spends a year living as. He can currently shift into a squirrel, a duck, a timber wolf, a rabbit, a stag, a panther, a rattlesnake, a shark, and a golden eagle.

    • Strength - Raisa’s physical strength can reach extremes such to rend bodies or even tear through metal, though her limits will not surpass someone for whom super strength is their main focus.
    • Speed - Raisa’s enhanced speed surpasses that of a normal human, able to move fast enough to only be seen as a blur, but can only be used in short bursts due to the large amount of energy moving as such consumes.
    • Regeneration - She can recover from wounds which are not instantly fatal, knitting flesh and mending bones, but she has to be careful that things are set right quickly so that they don’t heal wrong. She cannot regrow lost parts.
    • Senses - Even when in a calm state, Raisa’s senses are heightened above normal humans’ due to the predatory nature of the alien species her dna is spliced with. She can see easily in low light conditions and hear pin-drop quiet sounds, and can track by smell as well as smell mood changes from pheromones.
    • Stealth - The alien her DNA was taken from was a hunter, and this shows itself in Raisa's capability for moving stealthily in her environment. Whether it's an actual power or just a behavior isn't clear, but she is able to still and herself to the point where she basically blends into the background, and can move near-soundlessly when she choses.

Love it ^_^

Well; I was a little off in my expected time-frame, but I got it done nevertheless.

Name: Van Louis Kirby
Appearance: A man lost somewhere between young adulthood and timelessness with decent enough, but not exceptional features and strikingly unusual and vibrant light purple eyes that stand out now that he's made his way to Earth. His eyebrows could be deemed unusual as well, styled so as to be small and roundly contoured just over the center of his face. Said face is marked with an uneven scar going diagonally across the nose, skipping down the cheek and then hopping once more to touch lightly at the jawline. Van's hair is short, slightly spiky, and has a bolt shaved in at one temple; coupled with his long sideburns this dark mass frames his face nicely. All of this is accented by the twin cuffs of sterling on each ear, and the stud just beneath his lower lip.

He carries himself with an air of false superiority so that no-one can be tempted to take advantage of how lost he feels; back straight, eyes narrowed down the bridge of his nose at whoever he approaches and a subtle smirk always playing about his lips. His clothes tend towards the warm and or sporty; often wearing track clothes and big comfy scarves and coats besides in shades of aurora purples, teals and greens.
van.png
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Van's mother was a pure-blood human, his father half-human and half-Rylian, a race of scientifically advanced humanoids with six fingers to a hand, heat-vents in their necks that draw in and expel air to regulate temperature and vivid purple eyes and innards.
Age: In terms of actual years spent actively living life Van is about 27, give or take a month. Though; he has spent a fair amount of time in cryo-sleep to avoid a disaster and has actually been around somewhere in the ballpark of 80-90 years.
Height: 5'10"
Costume:
A suit of cosmic armor in shades of purple and grays.
aRMOR.png
Hero Name: Void Guard
Arch Nemesis: Roam the Infinite. Imagine a really big centaur with an energy axe, but instead of a horse the lower half is a six-legged tiger with poisonous spurs in its heels.
Personality: Van is a very neat and tidy disaster. He looks confident, composed and put together at all times, but... wow is that an act. What Van actually is is an extremely self-regulated former junkie who maintains a very carefully structured diet, exercise and life regiment in order to keep himself focused and shut out whatever problems he is dealing with. Earth is weird; this is a very simple fact which Van is more and more convinced of the more time he spends here. Having grown up at the far edge of space a lot of simple customs and common-sense issues feel detached and alien to him and he is the sort to constantly smile, nod and pretend he knows what is happening even though he very much does not, oftentimes to the detriment and embarrassment of himself or others because his personality is of the sort where he can't admit to being wrong, or out of his depth. Still; he means well and is a genuinely good-natured person most of the time.
Background:
In the year 1922 a woman named Dana Kirby was walking home after being fired from her job and stumbled into the middle of a bad scene. Some guy was getting his teeth kicked out and his suitcase stolen Feeling both embittered and emboldened she called out to the assailant and told them to halt their haymakers and hollering. Moments later she was approached by a creature whose head looked like a giant eyeball resting on an oversized tongue all topped in a bad toupee and did what any rational human would do...
She screamed bloody murder and threw a stapler at it from her box of belongings.

Long story very short; having defended her future husband Tarsis from the alien thug who had been trying to rob him, Dana was invited to see the vast universe for her troubles, and having just lost her only real worldly connection she turned spaceward and never looked back.

Dana had a long career as a space-explorer, adventurer, and eventually heroine... but this isn't about her. Not directly.
Ten years into her space-faring, in the year 1932, Dana and Tarsis had a kid, a beautiful baby boy who they would come to call Van.

Van grew up in much the same conditions as an army brat; highly regimented home-life, lots of moving from base to base and place to place, experiencing many cultures and sights and seeking to always ride that fine balance between making his parents proud and finding ways to rebel against them. Except the places he was going to weren't different military bases, they were different planets. The cultures were alien in the literal sense rather than merely the figurative.

Some parts of childhood were incredible, enhanced tenfold by his upbringing: getting to see alien espers perform at his birthday parties instead of dumb old party clowns, getting to go to concerts where sentient asteroid swarms played percussion by crashing into one another, learning to ride a hover-board instead of a bike, playing wild extraterrestrial sports in varying levels of gravity, cryosleeping through the end of a world in order to survive it and getting to see his mom on the news beating up space monsters.

Other parts were less-so... having to choke down bland capsules the size of eggs a dozen times a day to intake water and food, getting into fights with folks because his anatomy enforced a language barrier he couldn't overcome, numerous illnesses and injuries brought about by foods and environments and species foreign to him, his first girlfriend turning out to have an alien parasite in her that tried to eat his face and his mom never being around.

Still, as he grew up he learned to cope with his humanoid shortcomings, to enjoy the grand majesty of space and to be prepared for what dangers came his way.

What he didn't learn was moderation. Too much stimuli, too much partying, too much access to too many things too fast.

He was too out of it when the call came about his father's passing. Natural causes. He didn't remember ever being told. Missed the funeral. Missed the services and the grieving with friends and loved ones. Missed the chance to let go properly...

His mother eventually came to get him.

She found him nearly O.D.'d on the bathroom floor of a colony ship and fought to turn his life around, both figuratively and literally.
For the next few years his mom was actually around. She left the Knights to check up on him and figure out what could have been so important he would skip out on saying goodbye to his father.
She was... displeased, to say the least. What followed was a slow and tiresome process; arguments, aggression, rehab, relapse, regrets and recovery of body and mind and spirit and relationships.

Four years it took for him to get clean and stay clean. To learn to mediate himself and get his life together. The strict regiment of daily life he had attempted to flee from as a child became crucial in his recovery as the schedule, the routine and the focus allowed him to get his head clear. He started counseling and when he was able he would train alongside his mom and some of the Knights who were around his age, most notably his friends Setram and Burganrom who would eventually push him to train up and join the Boundary Knights.

The trials to join the Knights were many and the process took him three years of intense effort. Three years of blood, sweat and tears in which he learned interstellar law, combat, first aid for numerous species and the fundamentals of spatial restructuring and liminality.

For another year thereafter he fought alongside family and friends to protect the ever-expanding edges of space against warring alien races, monsters, dangerous natural disasters and unnatural ones and of course the great enemy of the Boundary Knights; Entropia and her monstrous horde.

A good year that ended poorly.

Entropia, the terrible beast of the empty beyond the edge, was defeated... And all it cost was Van's mother, his friends and his fellow men at arms. Van himself only survived because at the time of Entropia's detonation he was being half-digested by one of Entropia's generals, a horrific monster known as Roam the Infinite. When he managed to activate his liminal blade and teleport out he was shocked... frozen in confusion and denial.

The Boundary Knights, along with most of Entropia's forces, were wiped out in the catastrophic explosion that occurred at Entropia's passing. The only survivors were Van, Roam and a handful of Heralds; the dime-a-dozen foot-soldiers of Entropia's army.

The fighting stopped. Both sides needed time to regroup, to come to terms. No words were exchanged but the remaining forces drifted apart and let one another go.

The centuries long battle the Knights had waged was over, but so were the Knights themselves.

Van very nearly lost himself and all the progress he'd made, but among his mom's possessions he found a journal describing somewhere he'd never been. A world as far from the edge as he could imagine. Earth. His mother's home. There was nothing to burn or bury, but he decided it would be a good place to say his goodbyes. She had often spoken of going back and sharing the wild and wondrous tales of her life with the world she'd been born to.

Adjustment was... is... hard. Nothing feels normal, nothing feels right. Nothing but the work. People here are in crisis as much as those where he grew up. Evil exists, and crime exists and natural disasters exist and while he may not be as familiar with some of the forms they take here he knows that he trained hard to deal with these very things.

And so he's trying to do just that; both to keep himself together and as a means to adjust.

Super Power:
Van has no inherent super-power, unless you count having purple eyes and blood...
Rather; his powers are inherent to the items with which he has been trained and bonded in a cosmic ritual.

The Abyss Armor is a suit of flexible cosmic armor which can mitigate moderate damages and environments as well as allow the user to survive and breathe equally comfortably on land, underwater or in the vacuum of space. The armor is formed of nano-weave which retreats beneath the user's skin when not 'active', which really means that Van is always wearing the armor, it just isn't always worn openly. If damaged the armor will feed on bio-electrical energy and convert nearby dead skin-cells, dust and detritus into more nano-weave, repairing itself. The time-frame of this process varies depending on the extent of the damage, sealing a stab wound in a few moments, but taking days to fully restore itself if heavily damaged..
[See Costumed Appearance]

The Liminal Blades are a pair of rings with a few unique features;
First off they are capable of growing and shrinking. At their smallest they can be used as weapons similar to chakrams; thrown or slashed with, with the sharp metallic rings and unique energies they give off capable of cutting even more cleanly than obsidian or lasers.
Alternatively the rings can expand and the handle turn inwards, forming a great wheel that the user can stand inside and pilot both along the ground and up walls, as well as in the void of outer space, though the latter requires a great deal of energy which they are currently lacking.
These rings can be remotely gesture controlled in a range up to 60ft, allowing Van to attack at range and retrieve his weapons once more.
Most importantly the blades can be used to carve away the concept of distance, allowing the wielder to teleport to any opening, entrance or other liminal space they can see or have visited before; including transferring from the opening in one ring to the opening in the other.

Trivia:
Van's full title is "Sir Van Louis Kirby; The Last of the Boundary Knights, Vanguard of the Void, Champion of Gutterspace, Inheritor of The Abyss, Grand Scion of the House on the Crossroads, Keeper of the Liminal Blades, Walker of the Ways and Bearer of the Maven's Mantle." But he only remembers about a third of it at any given time, hence going with the much more simple 'Void Guard', or 'V.G.' for short.

Van has implants in his back that effectively act as a glow-in-the-dark tattoo in the pattern of a distant alien constellation. Said constellation represents Delthram, a huntress of myth related to the world of his friends Setram and Burganrom.

In user-submitted polls on the Nevaress-9 Intergalactic News Site Van was voted the sixth strongest, third most attractive and most likely to save a Gyl R'q stuck in a tree among all of the members of the Boundary Knights(which consisted of 7 members).

SynCorp Drone #9287 - XENO.jpg
Specifications for SynCorp Drone #102509387. Codename: XENO
-Height: 3.42 Meters Tall. Weight: 1,374 Kilograms.
-Battery Life: 120 Years Remaining. Percentage is 99.978%.
-AI Traits, as Described by CEO Nathan Jacobs:
"Test results have shown that XENO is prone to put things too bluntly, though the analysts have tried to assure me this will help give the new Guardians the analytical personality they need. XENO has also developed a strong sense of morality due to recommended field testing and course correcting. Although a few kinks need to be ironed out with its hyperactive caution sensors, XENO seems to take the few personal mistakes that happens with full accountability and prides itself on being a reliable pillar of justice. I have taken note that it can't understand jokes or sarcasm, but my requests to have those aspects of personality given to it were refused due to budget restraints and lengthy delays should it be implemented."

-Nemesis: N/A. Reason: Safety Concerns for Criminals and Continuous Field Testing.
Nano-Bot Swarm: XENO was built with Nano-Bot Capsules that release nano-bots it can control with great precision, able to assemble or disassemble anything and everything within an area the size of a College Dormitory. The size of what's being assembled or disassembled dictates the speed at which it takes to do so, and the materials required for assembly/gathered from disassembly tend to be sequestered from/dropped off at a dedicated site XENO sets.

Lasers: XENO's facial interface and arms have dozens of lasers implemented to cut through obstacles and debris alike, the hexagonal grid on its facial interface providing a guide that the lasers follow. The lasers on its arms are much more powerful than the ones installed behind the facial interface, able to reach objects much further away at the cost of requiring extreme precision. While the lasers in its facial interface have a range of 45 meters, the lasers on its arms can reach up to 2.5 kilometers away.

Quantum Jet Propulsion: XENO's design comes with many features, one of which is the Quantum Jet Propulsion system. Though the science behind it could drive even its creators mad trying to explain it, the system allows for XENO to fly in a similar manner to those with jetpacks - albeit with much better control, much more streamlined, and faster flight speeds.

Manufacturing Mastery: As the pride and joy of SynCorp, XENO was endowed with all of the tools required to refine, manufacture, and assemble any and all parts required to fix itself or any property owned by the Guardians of Justice. In addition to this, XENO's programming allows it to control machinery at any SynCorp manufacturing facility. Although it isn't free, the Guardians of Justice get a hefty 70% discount for all products XENO produces so long as they don't abuse the wide range of versatility such a skill provides for their own benefit.
-XENO's Development Progress, as Described by CEO Nathan Jacobs:
"I'm sure that everyone's heard of the death of the Guardians of Justice. Although I am thankful for their sacrifice to save humanity, I can't help but feel that it only delayed the inevitable. How long before another tries to conquer Earth for themselves? With that question in mind, we here at SynCorp have prioritized what was originally meant to be developed for asteroid mining - Project XENO. And our efforts have proven to be fruitful thus far, and the project is almost complete at that. Although it took over a hundred-million attempts to get the AI to behave and much less to get XENO's vessel fully equipped with all the tools it'll need, we've successfully created the worlds first fully sentient AI - alongside the worlds first AI piloted superhero. Although XENO's Field Tests aren't completely finished yet, it'll be ready to join the new Guardians of Justice within the week. Here's to Humanities prosperous future!"

-Trivia:
1. XENO's development costs is estimated to be 745-975 Billion Dollars, having cost SynCorp 60% of their total net worth. Due to this act of unwarranted altruism, the US Government handsomely compensated all employees and management working for SynCorp for 95% of the costs spent on XENO.
2. XENO is an abbreviation of the lead engineers name, Xavier Evan O. Nathans. Though the name XEON was originally going to be what the robot would be named, it was instead named XENO due to one of the team members being a former developer for the Xenoblade series.
3. XENO was originally going to be a worker drone sent into space to perform asteroid mining and setting up space infrastructure on the moon and Mars, but with the death of the Guardians of Justice the CEO shifted focus on helping to refurnish their (presumably) abandoned headquarters alongside the research into sentient AI.
4. Despite the programmers best attempts to install a kill-code on the off-chance XENO went rogue, the AI they developed always took less than a day to delete the program. Whether or not XENO will sacrifice itself for those it protects is a mystery at best, though a kill-code for a self-sacrificing AI would be redundant should XENO be as perfect as the programmers hope.

Name: Alistair Duncan.
Appearance:
1651528712011.png
Gender: Male.
Race/Species: Human.
Age: 40.
Height: 6'2".
Costume:
1651529329085.png

Hero Name: Seiryu, The Azure Dragon.
Arch Nemesis: Suzaku, The Vermilion Bird.

Personality: These days Alistair can be a very carefree and troubled man. As the last surviving member of his order, he feels unworthy of the mantle. On top of that, he has to contend with the grief of his wife being dead, his mentor being dead and one of his closest friends betraying him. For others he keeps a brave face and tries his best to be a leading figure. That's why he keeps a lot of his vices behind closed doors and seems very closed off to the newer Guardians. The last thing he wants to do is trouble the younger generation with his issues.

Background:
Alistair grew up on the streets, becoming a criminal at a young age. His mother was incredibly poor and his father was no where to be seen. So, now being the man of the house he left school at a young age and turned his attention elsewhere. If he could make money doing it, he'd try it. Eventually, he found a niche he enjoyed. By the age of 16 he was fighting in cages for money, a more brutal version of mixed martial arts, practically a bloodsport. By the age of 18 he was being used as 'hired muscle' between matches. His life was a relatively uneventful slog from one fight to the next. That was until one day when he was 19. He was working as muscle for a local triad operating out of Asia Town. Alistair was accompanying some of the gangsters, traveling through the shops and restaurants collecting protection money. That was when he first met her. A woman who would become an obsessive fixation of his for the next few years. Byakko, the White Tiger. Alistair wasn't used to losing, this was going to be just another fight...

Not only did she kick his ass, she made it look easy. Using mystical, eastern martial arts to humiliate him.

The man dropped everything to find her, he had to learn that martial art. It could give him a real edge. So, off he went. Most of his winnings went to his mother, making sure she could leave easy without him. Once he returned to Asia Town he got to work. A few interrogations later, and he had a trail. The woman worked for some kind of temple. He was told some mystical bullshit he didn't really believe, that the way would be revealed to those worthy of it. What a load of crap. Thinking the trail had gone cold, he wandered back home... Only to find the streets winding and twisting in new, unusual directions. It was weird since this was his city, he knew it well. Soon, city streets turned to cobbled roads, and even weirder... Soon he found himself at the bottom of a mountain.

It was here he discovered the Order of the 5 Celestial Beasts. A temple of monks who worked to maintain balance between the real world, and the spirit world. Many hopefuls came to the monastary but there could only be 5 Celestial Beasts. When the beast had chosen a warrior, the jade statues in the courtyard of the temple would glow.

(Central) The Yellow Dragon, a statue of yellow jade - Koryu.
(North) The Black Tortoise, a statue of black jade - Genbu.
(East) The Azure Dragon, a statue of blue jade - Seiryu
(South) The Vermilion Bird, a statue of red jade - Suzaku
(West) The White Tiger, a statue of white jade - Byakko.

Alistair devoted himself to the order, hoping to one day attain those impossible powers. Soon, days turned to weeks, turned to months and to years. His life revolved around the order and training. That woman who kicked his ass so long ago was now his wife and he mentored under the yellow dragon. It didn't take long until his dreams of becoming the best fighter in his city vanished and were returned with a sense of purpose. One to defend the balance of the world. Through training, punishment, blood, sweat and tears he was reforged. In that moment when his heart become purity, it was then that the azure dragon chose him to be Seiryu. Not long after that he was asked to join the Guardians, a group who fought to protect the world from evil.

So, once again, he upped and left. This time heading for the Guardian headquarters.

One day he received a letter from his wife telling him there was trouble back at home, at the temple. That was the last the Guardians heard from him. At age 35 he vanished. Many heroes suspected he was dead. Only one person knew the truth, a couple of years after he went missing, Night Watch went looking for him. And like any who go in search of the temple, the way is eventually revealed. Here, he found an Alistair who had turned to cigarettes and alcohol, sitting in the ruins of the once great temple. Suzaku had gone rogue, destroying a lot of what was in his path. Everyone else was dead besides him. He'd buried them all.

Night Watch helped him get back onto his feet. Only for them both to notice the Incident. They decided as the Old Guard, it was best for them to return to their post.

Super Power:
The blessing of the Azure Dragon grants Alistair superhuman dexterity, strength and stamina. The more focused his concentration and breathing, the stronger he gets. As he grows in speed and power, a blue aura starts to slowly flicker around him.

Trivia:
  • Alistair is an awful chef; there are two things he can cook well. One is Miso Udon and that's because it was his wife's favourite dish. The other is an English breakfast, because he used to cook a lot for his mother in the mornings before leaving for work.
  • Smoking habit, borderline alcoholic. He hides both.
