Overview:

_____________________________________________________________________

"This is our city."

A beautiful one, at that. A pristine example of what finally happened around the year 2206, when the battle between the environment and humanity finally came to a startling conclusion. The activism that had begun, about two hundred some years ago, actually paid off in the long run. Balance between humans and their environment had finally taken the dramatic turn for the better, and their cities were the proof.

" This is our city," they chanted.

Vehicles ran without producing toxic gases and wastes, energy was produced naturally and cleanly, the nuclear threat was seen as an outdated form of chemical science and has slowly been chipped away. For those of such little faith, the world finally seemed to be looking up. As if humanity had opened its eyes to the reality of the situation and had taken the steps to change it. They spent two hundred years perfecting it, trying to save and secure a future for the human race. And they succeeded.

" Now what?"

Their factories quieted. Their machines stopped humming. Their advanced robotics technology ran outdated programming in a constant, confused loop- because there simply wasn't any directive left to accomplish. The sudden dip in activity proved fatal to the economy, and slowly, the world watched it's major scientific hubs spiral into depression. Humanity had been saved. There was nothing left to invent.

The only thing that remained a factor in shortening and possibly ending the future generations of the human race, was, in fact, the human race itself. But how do you fix people? How do you improve on something biological in nature? Chemistry and science was easy when it came to technology and machines. But people were far more complicated than that. Then, one day, a man named Matthias D. Crawford came into the picture. A budding young biologist, with a degree in studying the complexity of the human brain.

The brain, such a curious thing. So large, and yet so little understood at the time. Crawford seemed to think that humans, considering that when at rest are only using 10% of their brain capacity, could be capable of so much more. He was convinced that there were neurological pathways previously undiscovered by scientists. So he spent years searching, and since there wasn't anything else going on in the scientific community, everyone shrugged their shoulders and hiked up their sleeves to help.

What they discovered would change humanity forever. There were, in fact, specific pathways that could only be accessed through astronomical procedures. But the results of connecting to these hidden gems were worth every minute of it. Humans discovered chain chemical reactions that would alter both their physical state, mental state, and even the state of everything around them. Many people jumped to Quantum Physics for the answer, others to pure speculation surrounding electromagnetic energy, and those without the means to explore anything in particular simply called it magic.

Some scientists called it the discovery of the century. Others called it money. The factories came roaring back to life. Robotics were being reprogrammed left and right, and people were being hired again. The world fell into hushed whispers, wondering just what it was that they were creating in there. And, they wouldn't be disappointed- Gerald Hemingway was his name, super neurological injections were his game. Buy one today, be the first to experience the AEP Project. The world would be filled with wonder and colour, and you would get yourself access to a dormant ability that has been sleeping inside of you all this time.

They called it the Adam and Eve Pathway Project. Gerald created a serum that would forcefully open those locked parts of your brain, and you would gain access to the power that created myths and legends. Naturally, religious activists were horrified by the reference, saying that humans were not meant to tamper in areas like that. But Gerald had painted a beautiful picture, and his injections were for but a fraction of the price for the effort. Naturalists screamed that is was a mutation, but the science behind it was sound. The path was there, you just had to pay to open it. He just couldn't guarantee what you got. Every artist has a different style, after all. You just had to crack the lid to the can and see what colour you get to paint with, yourself.

"This is our city, " they sang, " and we'll paint it if we want too. "

But the dream didn't last. Gerald made a horrifying mistake by selling it for so cheap- criminals purchased it alongside everyone else. Chaos poured out of the floodgates- and drastic measures had to be taken in response. Technology had to be created to stop these criminals from abusing their new found gift. Anti-AEP tech was put into development, and naturally, there were those who had no criminal background that felt the sting of oppression with this fact alone. Naturals, those without the injection, had to evolve physically and mentally to defend themselves against attackers with AEP.

" This is OUR city, " they stated as they marched through the streets, raising their weapons, " and we will defend it."

Neutral parties anguished in the background, and slowly, harsh dictator laws were placed around anyone with AEP. Curfews, colour coded identification bracelets, permission slips to use their abilities for work or a red slip to deny them from it. At first, it was aimed merely at the criminal population. But soon, AEP citizens were being targeted for little to no reason at all. AEP injections were made illegal, and became just another drug trafficked on the streets. But the citizens had already painted this city so many beautiful, vibrant colours. There was no way they were letting their art go down the drain.

"This is our city, " they choked through sobs," and we'll burn it if we want too. "

They called it a war. Some called it civil, others called it pure madness in the streets. Naturals with Anti Tech pitted against AEPs, in one of the worst wars in recorded history. It was a war that threatened to engulf the planet, and in an effort to prevent this from happening, the United Nations swooped in and put their foot down. Slowly, the civil war ended, and the dust began to settle. But the city had been ravaged, the people alienated from one another. Something had to be done, in this place, and all the other places that had been touched by carnage.

It was the only thing the United Nations could convince them to do. Work together to rebuild the city. Create something new out of the broken pieces of the past- repair the damage they had done to themselves. But this was easier said than done, and there needed to be proof. So, begrudgingly, the police and governing parties of the cities put together a new program.

Four AEP's. Four Naturals. Three of which, on both sides, were randomly picked for either their physical expertise or their particularly unique AEP. The city didn't care for their backgrounds. They just cared that it looked like a team of eight elite agents, working together to tackle the city's most violent problem areas that were still caught up in the war. The city didn't care if they got along when the cameras weren't looking, they only cared that the streets got swept of criminal activity and the papers were signed and sent to the UN on a daily basis.

They were sent away on special ops missions, undercover missions , investigations, and privy to The Game of the now clearly defined social circles of the world. They were lavished and hated, they were spies and informants, and they experienced the agonizingly frustrating effects of being forced to exist on a level of domesticity with the very people they just finished fighting.

They were not, however, prepared for what they discovered lurking within the very veins of the city itself. Because the root of the infection ran deeper than anyone could have ever expected, and the cause was far more horrifying than words could effectively describe.

The Gist of it;

Basics

You play as one of the eight team members of the Elm City Restoration Force. The Roleplay starts off as your character is arriving at the home base of operations, Elm City’s primary Police and Government Office building, attached to City Hall. During the course of this Roleplay, your character will be trained, disciplined, and grow into their positions. Or not, its up to you.

There are Team Captains of both the Naturals and the AEPs. Both Team Captains are trained Military Police Officers, whereas their team members have been selected through an NPC and brought in to be trained. Unfortunately, these participants didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, as the UN wasn’t particularly specific as to the human rights, so the city officials aren’t expending any effort into locating team members. The Captains try to guide the groups and act as the mediums and neutral authorities.

This is going to be a fairly competitive detailed role play. Meaning, I am going to be picking and choosing CSs as they come in. You can contact me and request to hold a position, but that doesn't guarantee you will receive that position, until I have accepted your CS. :3!

Any questions? @Fujiwara Tadayoshi
