Realistic or Modern The Faders

Cinder had grown up in luxury. Her father was an affluent man who chose to live as one. In turn, his children had naturally done so as well. However, Cinder would not consider herself “spoiled”. Yes, her father was wealthy, and yes, he was powerful, but he expected his children to work for what they got in life, just as he had. Now, that didn’t mean that he would let his children go hungry. Nor would he ever be so cruel as to withhold vital alterations and other life dependent articles such as the newest electronic devices or latest accessories; their father was a cold man, but he was not heartless.

As it turns out, with stern determination, their father had managed to instill a few critical values in his offspring. Both Cinder and Jedd were hard working – they did not simply expect things to come to them. As well, they had never bore the sense of entitlement that they likely should have. That was probably thanks to their insightful and thoughtful father's commitment to reminding them of how weak and idle they were. He would also, selflessly of course, stress the point that it was pure, radiant luck that had put them where they stood today; they had never had to work for their position in life, no, not like their father. He built everything that he was. He constructed his life and wealth and power out of dust. Cinder and Jedd were simply born.

Thus, being out here in the woods, without any of the normal comforts of everyday life, was not as shocking of an experience as it could have been. But that did not mean that Cinder didn’t have to actively stop herself from lunging for the bags when Bell had mentioned a tent and blankets.

And after having spent almost a week now out here in the woods, Cinder was beginning to realize that Jedd was almost...too comfortable. He navigated the clawing branches and uneven ground with an effortless ease. Granted, Jedd had altered his vision so that his eyesight was nearly as good at night as it was during the day, but that did not account for his seasoned agility. He just possessed an easy grace out here that only came from experience.

Jedd had never spent a great deal of time at home – him and their father fought and tore at one another to the point where they would part mentally raw. Cinder had just assumed that Jedd would always take off too meet up with his dark, an often times, quite unapproachable friends. But now, after watching him track living beasts and then turnthem into their dinner, Cinder was beginning to reconsider.

Then again, that would just be weird. Nobody left the city if they didn’t have to. Why would you ever want to? What was out here that Skylarka couldn’t provide?

Cinder regarded Artemis now, “Do you mind?” she reached towards one of the displayed cans of fruit.

With a snort, Jedd helped himself to a substantial portion of the food that Reason had so kindly and selflessly delivered just as someone stumbled into the saint herself.

"Of course not." Artemis says, turning to look at Alexei tangled with Reason on the ground. She holds back a snort at the sight of the entitled, spoilt, rich girl.

Some may call her hypocritcal, as she is also a spoiled rich girl. However, she was never entitled. No, Artemis had managed to do at least that. Her brother, however, thought of himself as the sun that kept the world turning. Artemis did her best to keep that particular trait of Apollo's hidden from view.

Apollo snags a can of peaches from their bag, pulls open the top, and uses the now bent metal as a spoon. He glances only breifly at Alexei and Reason. Apollo had no intention of not convincing his sister to come home with him. Why learn names? Already, he couldn't remember the original girl's name. Cindy or something.

Reason was about to walk away for it didn’t seem like anyone wanted anything else. She was not going to spend her whole night with these lower cast people. She had a party to go to tonight and no way was she going to miss it. There was a cute boy she needed to flirt with and toy with. There was a girl that needed a lesson taught to her about who was the Queen B. Best part was the party was for a charity and of course she would increase her publicity by going and supporting whatever she was supporting.

Hearing a noise behind her Reason turned her head just in time to see a girl come stumbling out of the woods and head right to her. Giving a small scream Reason threw out her arms as she headed towards the ground, her balance off with the 6 inch heals she was wearing. She felt her beautiful heals snap as they got stuck in the dirt and she was sent forward. Years of training taught her to absorb her fall so she didn’t hurt herself. Once she hit the ground training kicked in and her self-defence instincts took over. In one swift motion Reason had rolled over so the girl was pinned under her, Reason knees holding down her arm. Her one hand held the girl just on her collar bone so she could apply pressure if needed and her other hand was held back and her fist ready to fly and do some damage with her pretty little diamonds. Breathing heavy Reason glared down at the girl, her eyes narrowed as she watched to see if the girl was here to attack. After a couple of seconds Reason finally relaxed realizing the girl was not here to attack and the crack she heard before was probably the female tripping or something. Reason tossed her hair out of her head with a perfected head flip.

Getting to her feet Reason sighed and mumbled an apology under her breath. It was close as the girl was going to get and she better thank her for not hurting her. Taking a deep breath Reason calmed herself down. She hated being attacked, brought out her dark side. Now to address what she heard before the girl fell on her. Some kind of raised voice. “Is there someone else out there?” She asked the girl.

Not waiting for a response Reason went to investigate herself. Walking through the trees Reason stopped and sucked in a deep breath as she saw the male standing there. Of course she recognized him. How could she not with a guy that looked like that? They ran in the same circles and Reason loved to flirt with him. They always ended up at the same parties and he was cute and Reason loved herself anything pretty and he was damn pretty. They may have gotten closer but Reason heard rumours about his fall from grace and didn’t seem him for a while. It was a shame she was starting to turn her attention more seriously towards him instead of her normal harmless flirting. Reason wanted to see if it could possibly get serious which in her books was a friendship…with a lot more flirting than normal. Now it seemed she had an answer to the rumours. He was a fader.

Not knowing what to say Reason just stared at him, her wings flapping nervously around her to set off an echoing of twinkles.

((sorry was gone all weekend so late response!! @Katerang I hope that is okay!!))

Marco nervously hid in the trees, he almost jumped on Reason when she went to punch Alexei but she backed off before Marco could make up his mind. He could tell Alexei was pissed, she normally has the best balance of anyone he knows and wouldn't have been in that situation at all if it wasn't for him... He was so dead.

Alexei was going to kill him. She is one of the slipperiest people in the city; no one could catch her let alone hold on to her and this girl had her pinned. She was even so shocked to be caught all she could do was stare back dumbstruck until the the girl let her go a few seconds later. When Reason was getting up Alexei heard her mumble an apology, Probably for almost punching her, but Alexei knew she was the one at fault- No. Scratch that. Marco was the one at fault so he should be the one apologizing. As she came to this conclusion The girl was already through the trees and Alexei scrambled after her to see what she had crashed through the trees so desperately for. She remembered to grab her bag from where it had fallen though. These people might be akin to sharing but if they were going to make it to the next city Marco and her needed all of their food and Alexei's strict rationing too.

He hadn't realized he had pulled off the hat and was nervously twisting it between his hands until Reason stepped through the trees and by then it was too late to put it back on. She recognized him. How could you not? As far as Marco knew no one had achieved the perfect mix of golden and real hair like he had, especially while still retaining his curls. So far the only thing he could think of to say was, "Shit." Survival was not the only thing he had learned from Alexei, she had a very colorful language when she wanted, so he had become more accustomed to using some of the not so bad words. As he said that more words came to his head, "Um, hey Rea- I mean Bell..." Marco was a creature of habit so When he first heard of Reason it had been through his father... and his father was one of the few people left on the city that walked on a strait and narrow line, No alterations, and he knew everyone's real name. Of course Knowing names was more of a business thing more than anything but... That was not the point. Marco had first heard of her as Reason so that was the name stuck in his head. Now that he was here... Marco was a little curious about who else was in the group. Peering around Reason he saw the Trelik siblings? At least he thought so, his father talked about Jedd a lot. Said how he was the only true human left in this city, and he knew how Alterations should work. But he had never actually met them. He also saw the Kyle siblings... great. Pristine as far as he knew. AND Aron was the only person Marco knew who could pull off the golden curls as well as he did. He wasn't sure who the rest of them were though. he might know a lot of people but his memory wasn't perfect.

He turned his attention back on Reason, "Ah, Bell... What are you doing out here? And wearing a dress to boot. Even I know how foolish it is to wear formal attire camping." At least that is what he hoped she was doing and not getting herself into trouble like he suspected.

Cinder could only watch as the chaotic, albeit amusing, scene occurred. An emerging figure crashed into the one who had announced herself as Bell. They went down in a heap of limbs, although Bell quickly got the upper hand. With a mouth full of canned cherries, Cinder was still processing what had happened when Bell was suddenly up and taking off - the other girl close behind. She turned around to her brother, about to say something, but stopped when she saw the look on his face. Jedd's eyes were narrowed, his gaze focused on the trees ahead. When Cinder turned to see what he was looking at, all she saw was blank darkness and jumbled tree trunks.

"There's someone else out there," he stated plainly.

Jedd couldn't make out too much. There was a great deal of foliage in the way and the fire's flame played tricks with the shadows. The girls hadn't gone too far though, he could still make out there figures amongst the trees. He could also see something gold and shiny... was that a head?

"This is getting to be too much. These people are a hazard - they're loud, clumsy, and careless. They're bound to draw attention our way. We need to leave. Soon." Jedd tossed his can aside and started rolling up his sleeping bag.

"But Jedd... we don't know them. They could be more help then they are harm. Maybe we could help each other and..."

"We're leaving," he said stonily.

Reason stared at Marco and sighed. It was really sad that Marco had fallen from grace and a fader. It meant she couldn’t associate with him anymore and he was fun to play with. If she was caught associating with him the press would go crazy and eat it up and start the rumours. She was helping out with the Faders to avoid the bad press, not make new one. This meant she had to leave quick and forget she ever saw Marco.

When he mentioned her name she raised an eyebrow, catching the Rea part before he corrected himself and called her by Bell. Reason hated her name, hated what it stood for so went by Bell. She was curious to know how he knew her name for as far as she knew no one knew it, not even the press. Reason was almost temped to stick around and grill him but she had to create distance, not more reason to stay.

As her outfit was mentioned and her being here was questioned she couldn’t help but look down at herself. Her once beautiful heals were ruined, the heels actually snapped off. Her dress was dirty and there were a couple of cuts in her dress from where twigs have snagged and ripped them. It was a beautiful dress and now it was ruined. Looking back up at Marco she flipped her hair out of her face and gave him her dazzling smile. Even though there were twigs and a couple of leaves in her hair she still pretended she was a million bucks. As her parents taught her since she was little, fake it till you make it. Right now she would fake that she looked great and hope that someone believed her bluster and think she was fabulous still.

“I am not camping! I am not slumming with these people. I’m being a wonderful human being and helping them out by bringing supplies and food.” Reason informed him with a proud smile. She wouldn’t tell me it was to counteract her latest bad publicity, let him believe that she was actually doing this out of the goodness of her heart. Turning to look at the female that joined them Reason narrowed her eyes. “I did look fabulous but someone tackled me to the ground and ruined my heels.” She growled.
