In a world known as Eurania, magic existed harmoniously within all humans for centuries. The people had their disputes but it was nothing dire. That is, until the Fire Monastery monks decided that those with lesser innate magic should be treated as lesser beings. Only the humans with strong raw magic dwelling within them would be given rights, and the weaker beings would cater to their new lords. There was much outrage, as people liked peace and there was no consistency with how magic passed through the bloodlines. The strongest people could give birth to someone with barely any magic at all.
Wishing to continue their elitist ways, the monks created the mountain range that encompasses their monastery. Limiting their interactions with other cities and monks they remain as strong as they can, trapping the lesser mages as servants.
These types of mages became known as bards, for they lived in constant partying and ecstasy. Their magic came about with vocal commands and was as volatile as the people wielding it. On the contrary, the monks within the Northern Way Monastery believe that magic is a crude tool. One that must be refined and perfected. These mages are known as poets, channeling their magic through runes etched onto various objects. Perfectionists, they lock themselves inside their monastery while they delve deeper into the workings of magic and inscribe rune after rune all to hone their abilities.
When the Fire Monastery sealed itself within the mountains the very essence of Eurania shuddered. The once harmonious flow of magic had been broken, causing a rift within the ley lines of magic. While people had once been able to freely practice magic as they wished, they were now locked into either being a bard or a poet.
50 years later, the god Sandalphon blessed five children with the power to use both bard and poet methods. There is a deep hatred between these two groups, and it is up to the blessed ones to begin healing the rift within Eurania.
