Realistic or Modern The End

Jason Doyle
"We're al damned, so, at this point survival's a game, isn't it?"

Jason's face had taken on a cold quality since he had woken up, and it would mostly keep that quality from then on, when he wasn't being a bit of a sarcastic jerk. Looking up to the two faces of the people that had spoken so far, he figured he might as well introduce himself when they did. It wouldn't make much of a difference as they would still be dying, but, it couldn't hurt to have a few friends for the end of the world.

"Jason," he input, turning to look at the young woman beside him when she asked if he was hurt. the right side of his face was still plastered with red-brown toned dried blood from the cut at his hairline and he frowned slightly at her rather stupid seeming question, but he wasn't going to mention it. Rude comment or not.

"Just a cut I think," he responded, gesturing to where the jagged line of the thing was visible just barely from one side by his raven hair," but it's scabbed over for the most part."

Reaching a hand over the edge of the boat and into the water below, he cupped a bit into his hand and used it to scrub the dried blood from his face the best he could. The least he could do was attempt to be clean, though, that he imagined would be mostly impossible for some time.

Everyone on the boat was talking all at once. And more and more people kept coming, fusing their grating voices with her ears and driving her absolutely insane. I need a second to fuckin' THINK! Naomi felt physically ill as she struggled to process all of the information around her. Then, some blonde girl got on the boat with a huge piece of glass in her face. Naomi lost it. Right over the edge of the boat. She tucked her dreads behind her ears as she vomited over the side. Working in her mom's clinic had practically desensitized her to traumatic injuries, but her anxiety was already causing her to feel nauseous. The girl's injury worsened the way she felt. After she was finished, she wiped her mouth with the corner of her cardigan and sulked as close to the back of the boat as she could get.

Some dude was going around claiming to be a doctor. Naomi pulled her knees into her chest and studied him. He didn't look like a doctor....But then again Naomi didn't look like the kind of girls you see in animal science. She decided to hold off on judging her new very close friends. The girl who was first on the boat had introduced herself as Fiona.... and that was all Naomi thought of her. The general consensus on the boat was to try and go to the hospital, but that was stupid. Naomi and another girl (Ashley) were literally standing on top of a rooftop.... There was clearly nothing left but debris...

"Has anyone ever experienced a tsunami before? Or know what to do in the event of seismic activity?" She spoke, loudly and clearly. She hated repeating herself. She only wanted to speak once. "The best option for us all is to stay put right here. The water will subside in a few hours... We just have to kill time. Then we can go about seeing if there's anything left." She mentally retreated back into her mind.

Tears flooded Kai's eyes. He couldn't do it. He couldn't just pull the trigger. He couldn't just end it all. He didn't have the guts but he oh so wanted to be gone, to leave this mortal plain and move onto the next life. There was nothing here for him to live for. The hospital not far from his store was destroyed and there were other buildings around him that were practically nonexistent. He needed to pull the trigger. There was no reason he shouldn't. Then why couldn't he do it? He just held the loaded Glock at his side. He couldn't even throw himself off of the edge. He couldn't kill himself. It seemed he wasn't man enough to do so.

Instead he walked back down to his room and rubbed off the suicide note. He unpacked his bag and took his teddy bear, another jacket, his guitar, and the two pictures of the only family he had, all of whom were dead. He couldn't keep doing this; living here. He had to move on. He climbed back onto the roof and took out the emergency flare from the box at the side of the ladder. He loaded the gun and shot it up into the atmosphere. He hoped someone could hear it. He hoped someone could save him from himself.

The boat swayed and bumped into another car, he teeteredslightly before righting himself. The dizzying sensation fading as each minute passed, tilting his head a bit he regarded the girl that had told him she was fine. "Surgeon. Doctors talk to you about an illnesses and calm you down with talks of hope. I do the bloodier work. From the looks of it you may need a stitch or two but nothing major. Oh and surgeons always carry a pocket case of needle a thread with a small bottle of germ-X." He felt his pockets, yup still had it but it was probably very unsanitary since his dive in the water.

He heard another voice and looked farther up the boat. He looked at all the occupants of the boat before his eyes settled on a girl with glass in her arm and cheek, "Fuck.." he darted over to her jumping over people littering his path. He knelt beside the girl, "Don't pull that out, don't you know it'll increase the bleeding?" He gritted his teeth, he needed a few towels and some thread that wasn't soaked. His merely he could clean with a towel and sanitize with the germ-X but he couldn't use salt watered thread on this!

Standing up, he cleared his throat, "anyone not in need of care needs to search this boat for any string, towels, and clean water. Something useful, the faster we get this down the faster we can get out of here!" Looking back to the girl, he grinned, trying to make her smile, "what did you do? Hug glass?" He knelt back down, becoming the surgeon and felt around her arm wound, occasionally glancing at her cheek, letting his eyes wander her face. Young, teens perhaps. Not legal, Bash. "The name's Sebastian, by the way." He spoke loud enough so that the guy and woman on the other side of the boat could hear him while he felt the girl's arm. About three or maybe four people were digging under benches and feeling around the steering compartments for supplies.

Shelby instantly took her hand away from the cut "Guess you could say that" Shelby said as he joked about huging glass wincing in pain "im shelby" she said putting on a smile. "How bad is it? I dident feel it till i got here then it hit me like a..." Yui dident say the last work but was sure he could guess. She looked around the boat watching people hurry about.

Sebastian gave a soft chuckle, this girl, Shelby she had said, was a brace one. Most people would've been screaming from the pain by now since the adrenaline of the moment had died down. He looked into her eyes, always their eyes when telling them about their situation medically, "I won't beat around the bush, Sea Shell, it's pretty bad." He couldn't help giving her a nickname, she was quite pretty. Reminded him of those bright pale shells in the clear water at the Bahamas, where he had taken his mother for a few days to get away from the doctors. God the money he had saved for her, he'd spent every scent to see her smile. "One more question, that glass in your cheek, can you feel it on the inside with your tongue?" He actually dreaded her answer.

One of the people searching came to him, "there's nothing here, we gotta get out of here, the hospitals a lost cause. The people here are all that matter right now!!" The man was panicking but a woman beside held grabbed his hand, calming him slightly.

Sebastian sighed and pulled out his pocket kit. "Sea Shells, this will hurt like a bitch." He began threading the string into the needle.

Fiona had spent most of her life not talking, mostly just ignoring people all together, so it surprised her that all she wanted to do right now is talk. She didn't though, mostly because she didn't really know what to say. She felt herself wishing that her dad was with her. He would know what to do in a situation like this, in fact, he was probably doing it now, trying to him and Fiona's mom far away from the, now assumed destroyed, beach house they were staying at. Fiona didn't like not being able to call her dad, as they were really close, and he was who she went to whenever she had a problem. She thinks that's why she had such a hard time being on her own, she knew no one when she moved.

Fiona nodded at Jason, forcing herself to stop thinking about things that weren't right in front of her, and watched as he used the water to wash off his cut before her attention turned to another girl, not far from where they were sitting, "I agree." Fiona spoke, acknowledging what she said about staying put. "Who knows if the boat works anyway. Plus, maybe in another hour or two they might be sending rescue teams out." That's what they always did in movies. Though Fiona knew quite well this wasn't a movie and that they weren't on a set, waiting for a director to yell cut, but she knew that someone would be coming eventually.

Fiona jumped as the sky let a loud noise, almost as if a bomb was being dropped. The thunder would soon lead to rain, probably lots of it. "How fun." Fiona muttered, mostly to herself. The sky was beautiful, dark gray clouds covering all of it, and on a normal day Fiona would relish a thunderstorm but right now, when she was stranded on a boat in the middle of what used to be a city, she could do without it. Her eyes found a light in all the gray when she saw lightning. Well that was her first thought for what it was anyway, her brain quickly realized that that wasn't what lightning looked like. It was a flare.

"Did you guys see that?" She asked everyone around her. She stood up, trying to look on top of the buildings, looking for who set it off. She didn't immediately see anyone so she figured they were a few blocks away, still in a building that hasn't collapsed, or at least not yet.

Shelby heard the nick name and liked it had a nice ring to it after hearing his question she checked. "Oh shi- i uumm i can feel the tip of the glass" she put on a brave face as she didn't want to seem childsih but the fear was obvious in her eyes. She looked at the needly he was threading "um always h-hated needles" she said trying to make some kind of joke until she saw a red glimmer from the side of her eye "hey is that a firework is someone calling for help?" She asked hopeful it was one of her friends. Oh her friends she hadn't thought of them till now....and her mum and little sister hey eyes began to shine a glass covering over them knowing they were propably dead but hopeing against hope that they were alive.

After threading the needle and lathering his hands in germ-x along with the needle and thread, he took a breath, "Fuck.." he remarked about her feeling the glass with her tongue. " Ok, I'm going to pull out the glass in your arm, don't move." He ignored everyone's remarks about seeing a firework. He needed to do this fast and precise, he was grateful the needle was curved and not straight or this would be harder and more painful. He would leave the others to finding out how to deal with that light, he would help after making sure this girl didn't bleed to death. Her cheek wasn't as major as her arm, her arm was still bleeding while her cheek only bled slightly thanks to the glass still in there.

With quick movements, he jerked the shard out and pressed his hands over her wound. Pressing the wound together he pushed the needle into her skin, through to the other side and tied it off before Shells could protest, completely the first stitch, about 4 more to go. Otaku Rabbit Otaku Rabbit

Shelby screamed in pain when he jerked the glass from her arm and again when she put in the first stich she was crying now from the ain her blonde fringe falling over one eye as she screamed. Some of the people on the boat would og gotton a fright from this. She blood trailed down her arm making at a puddle on the ground of the ship. And due to the fact of it being a needle she was terrified breathing extremely quickly close to passing out.
