Fandom The Elder Scrolls: Return of the Blades CS

Rusty of Shackleford

Ten Thousand Club
Hi! This is the CS for the Elder Scrolls RP I'm doing! It takes place six years after the end of Skyrim, with the Dragonborn having defeated Alduin and Miraak and married Jarl Elisif, his childhood friend. Using his position as Captain of her guard, he's secretly reforming the Blades in the guise of the guard, and slowly starting his plans to unite all of Tamriel under his banner and defeat the Thalmor. The catch is that you can play the equivalent of the Dragonborn in each of the Guild questlines. For example, the Archmage of the Guild, who is not Dragonborn, experienced the same story the Dragonborn would have experienced had he done the quest himself. This applies to all the Guilds, and I'm leaving the rest up to you. Anyway, here's the CS!

Weapons: (Include image, if you have one.)
Dragon Knight Sword: Lukas wields an ancient Imperial blade that dates back to the founding of the Empire. It was used by a legendary Imperial general, called "The Dragon Knight" for his skill in slaying dragons alongside Tiber Septim. It has had many names over the years, though Lukas has named it "Duty," as a reminder of the responsibilities he has to Skyrim and her people.

Armor: (Same for weapons)
Heroic Imperial Armor: Lukas wears armor specifically made for him upon being assigned as the Captain of High Queen Elisif's personal guard. While it does look flashy, he made sure that it was made to be as practical as possible, the steel being made in the Skyforge by Eurlond Grey-Mane as a favor for Lukas saving his son from captivity.

Shield of Solitude: Lukas uses the iconic Shield of Solitude, having used it ever since he obtained it as a symbol of his dedication to bit Solitude and Jarl Elisif.
skyrim_the_shield_of_solitude_by_spartan22294-dbto9h6.jpg
Personality: (At least a paragraph.)
Lukas' ideals and personality were shaped by the stories his mother told of his father. He's the model of the chivalrous knight, charging into battle with shield raised for his country and his beloved. He's very much a stoic, preferring to think things through and not get too emotional. He's also stubborn to a fault, not caring about his own safety in the slightest, and trusting in his own abilities a bit too much. He deeply cares for Skyrim and her people, and is determined to free the Empire from the grasp of the Thalmor, and sit as it's rightful Emperor.

Background: (At least a paragraph or two.)
Born the son of a Legion general and a Breton noblewoman, Lukas Proudspire grew up in Solitude in the titular Proudspire Manor. His family has owned the estate for centuries, with it's original name having been lost and replaced by the name of the family. His mother was a prominent noble in the High King's court, with the boy being taught how to fight and how to lead by his father, a veteran of the Great War. His family worshipped Talks, and his father taught the boy his Nordic heritage at a young age, while also instilling a deep patriotism to the Empire and her people. His mother was an open opposer of the Aldmeri Dominion, and tried to convince the High King to oppose them as well. Due to his close proximity to the Blue Palace, Lukas became close friends with Torrygg, the soon to be High King of Skyrim, and by extent, Elisif. They were all best friends for years, and Lukas kept Roggvir from getting into too much trouble. But eventually, things took a turn for the worse. His parents were arrested and executed by the Thalmor, the sixteen years old Lukas being absolutely devasted. The cornerstones in his life were gone, and his only comfort was his friends Torrygg and Elisif. But eventually, he just couldn't take it anymore. He sold the Manor, packed his things, and left. Torrygg thought it was a joke, and so for years he kept the price ridiculously high, intending to lower it when Lukas returned. Or so he thought.

Years passed, and Torrygg and Elisif soon married, as childhood friends go. Lukas' had become a hedge knight in High Rock, fighting for whatever worthy cause he could find. Elisif did love Torrygg, but not in a romantic way. She loved him more as a friend, and Torrygg knew this so never forced her to reciprocate his feelings for her. Just seeing her happy was enough. Torrygg was in a good mood the day that Ulfric Stormcloak challenged him for the throne, as Lukas has sent a letter saying he was returning after his years away. Torrygg, being the cocky man he was, didn't take Ulfric seriously, and was promptly killed for his arrogance. Elisif was devastated, as was Lukas, who learned of this whike attending a tournament in Cyrodill. Overcome by grief, he stormed off to Skyrim to face Ulfric and make him pay for his crimes. But he was caught on the border and certed off to Helgen. He was actually reserved to his fate, as he was sure that Ulfric would die with him. But then Alduin attacked, and Lukas fled with Hadvar.

Upon learning of his heritage as Dragonborn, Lukas saw this as a chance to be on even footing with Ulfric, and promptly joined up with the Legion. He met back up with Elisif, amazed by how much she'd changed. She thought the same, and he would often visit her for old times sake when he was off duty. After his service in the Battle of Whiterun, he was promoted to Quaester, and by the time he was a Praetor, he had been assigned as Elisif's guard captain, and personal liason in the field. He led a successful campaign against the Stormcloaks alongside Rikke and Tullius, all the while becoming closer and closer to Elisif. Their love met it's climax the night before he left for the final push to Windhelm. They made love, and this would lead to the birth of their twins, Torrygg II, and Lana Proudspire.

After quelling the rebellion, Lukas turned his attention to Alduin, defeating the dragon and meeting his old friend once again in Soverngarde. After a heartfelt goodbye, Lukas was at ease in his love for Elisif, and they soon married after he returned. He soon left after cultists attempted to assassinate him in the Blue Palace, and tracked them to Solstheim where he defeated Miraak. He now lives in the Blue Palace with his wife and two children, with a third one on the way. He has called the best warriors, mages, and thieves to the Proudspire Manor to arrange for them to join the reformed Blades, and to help his fight against the Thalmor...
Other: (Quotes, theme song, etc. It's up to you, really.)
Quotes:
"My life is your's, Elisif. I am your shield, your sword, and your cloak. Long may you live."
-His oath upon becoming guard captain.

"May we meet again in Soverngarde under better circumstances. Talos guide you."
-His last words to Ulfric Stormcloak.

"Of course I can drink. I am a Nord after all."
-Upon being challenged to a drinking match at a tournament

"The blood of Shor flows through your veins. You may not be Dragonborn, but you are my children. You are my heir's, and you will be my betters. You will lead the Empire and her people to a new age. And one day, we will meet each other in Soverngarde, forever frosting and drinking in the Hall of Heroes."
-Telling his children of their destinies.

Ben.jpg

Weapons: (Include image, if you have one.)
Oathblade.jpg
Ben's sword Oathblade, which he has nicknamed "Seiba" is a magical item left by his father. Its an enchanted blade which can float and fight independantly. However it also possesses the power of speech. It telepathically communicates with its wielder and those its wielder trusts. Seiba has adopted a very diginified female voice as a response to the youth and snark of her charge. Ben uses Seiba and her scabbard in his fighting style "Iajutsu". It involves using the sword before cleaning and sheathing it with speed and efficiency. Coupled with the Breton blood from his mother, Ben can enhance his body and attacks with magic. Ben learned multiple different kinds of magic from his mother and the village elders. He is above average in all schools of magic save for Necromancy, he resfuses to learn it. Ben's favorite spell is one he created himself. It lets him create swords of light from his magicka and fire them off at people. He can also manifest them around his body, spinning them to dice his foes.

Armor:
Evil Mastermind Armor.jpg
This sacred armor was supposedly made by Zenithar himself. Ben found it in the same room as Seiba. As it looked like decent equipment, he took it. Its mixture of plating and light armoring perfectly meshes with Ben's fighting style. He normally wears the hood to disguise himself. Ben has no idea what it is made of. Although a steel sword once broke against one of the gauntlets.

Personality:
Ben is a rather complex individual. He sometimes helps others, other times he doesn't. One can never pin down how he'll feel on any given day. There are times when he'll save a village from bandits like a hero from a story. Other times, he'll steal your stuff and kill your goat. Ever since he found Seiba, Ben has wanted nothing more than a life of adventure. His eyes are always set on that next challenge he has to overcome. When it comes to political matters, he really doesn't care. Some may mistake him for a slacker or a brute. However Ben is actually quite intelligent, he just has preferences for his activities. He genuinely cherishes the mentorship and comraderie he shares with Seiba. Under her guidance, he's becoming something more than himself. In combat, he remains silent and only speaks when using certain attacks. Ben just wants to eliminate the threat before carrying on. He has seen far too many warriors die from being arrogant and underestimating their opponents.

Background: (At least a paragraph or two.)
Ben was raised on Ontaka Island. It was a island orginally populated by refugees from Akavir. Eventually it came to be known as a safe haven for many different races. The different climates and areas on the island allowed each individual race to thrive. Bens mother, Jeanette Dorian, washed up on Ontoka when her ship crashed against a rock. She came into the care of the Yamato family. Falling in love with their youngest son, Yamato Kariya, she stayed. Ben was named for the proported name of the Hero of Kvatch, Bendu Yolo. One day, a jealous family member challenged Kariya for Jeanette. Young Ben was forced to see his father cut down in front of him. Jeanette was killed by the former lover of the suitor in a jealous rage. Taking up arms, he murdered the man and his witch of an ex. Throwing the heads of his victims down at a village meeting, Ben was given the moniker of "Demon". Living on his own for a while, Ben was then taken in by a Altmer named Seraven and her assistant Ninya. Furthering his understanding of magic, they hoped to turn him away from a dark path. Eventually Ben discovered an ancient treasure room under his old home. Inside he found a sword and a suit of armor, along with gold and jewels. His clan elders tried to take the trasure, however Ben was too strong for their enforcers. He left for the outside world in order to understand his place in the grand scheme of things, taking Seiba with him. Now in Skyrim, Ben is just doing what he wants...

Nightingale Bow:
Given to him by Karliah upon killing Mercer Frey. Probably his most prized possession besides his sister's necklace and his dagger. He's modified it in several ways, mainly improving the string for his tastes and making it capable of shooting specialized arrows.

Dagger:
He stole this from a wealthy aristocrat in the Imperial City, and has prized it ever since, and it was intended for him as a birthday present from his late sister. It's extremely well made, and he carries it wherever he goes, having the name "Lissa" carved into the hilt in honor of his sister.

Guildmaster's Armor:
He was given this upon becoming the Guild Master of the Thieves' Guild, and wears it only when he's conducting official Thieves' Guild business, or when out in public. He doesn't sneak in it.
SR-item-Guild_Master_Armor_Male.jpg

Nightingale Armor:
This is what he uses to thieve, as it is specifically made to make him the ultimate thief. He wears this whenever he's on a mission, and uses it to hide his identity, and spread his reputation as a mysterious legend who's only seen as a shadow in the pale moonlight, as he is quite flamboyant when wearing it.
ESNGX021.jpg
Personality: (At least a paragraph.)
Adrian is...well, interesting. When conducting business or out in public, he's calm, collected, and a bit of a deadpand snarker. But the second he Don's his Nightingale armor, he becomes a flamboyant hero of the people, stealing from the rich and giving some of it to the poor. He acts like a reverse Batman, and uses his calm demeanor to plan his heists even when he dons his Nightingale persona. He's incredibly street-smart, and creates genius scheme's and plans to make money for himself and the Guild. As a former orphan, he is always willing to help out fellow orphans, and even co-owns the Honorhall Orphanage after Grelod the Kind "disappeared." He hates anyone who looks down on the common folk, and has declared a one-man-crusade against the Black-Briar family, intending to bring them down so they can work like everyone else.
Background: (At least a paragraph or two.)
Born an orphan on the streets if the Imperial City, Adrian grew up in a rundown oprhanage in a bad part of town with his twin sister, Lissa. They were as thick as thieves (pun intended,) and would always stand by each other. The owner of the orphanage was more interested in drinking than feeding the children, so they were all left to fend for themselves on the street. Adrian and Lissa had a natural talent for thievery, and we're extremely successful, Lissa distracting the targets while Adrian robbed them blind. They soon made a decent living off of their skills, selling their services to the Thieves' Guild while staying independent.

Their antics had made a lot of enemies. Mainly, the Summerset Shadows, who had recently moved to Cyrodill to make some money. They established themselves in the Imperial City, killing their targets and putting everyone on alert for thieves. As this was bad for business, drian and Lissa decided to out them out of business, attempting to bring the organization down. They eventually sold them out to the city guard, and made off with a hefty sum of gold.

A few years passed, and the twins were reaching the age of twenty. Lissa had always wanted a nice necklace, so Adrian stole one form some pompus noblewoman and intended to give it to her as a birthday gift. When he approached their house in a decent part of town, he saw that the place was ablaze. He frantically searched the building for his sister, seeing her mangled and broken corpse among the ashes, clutching a dagger she had promised to give him. He fell to his knees, weeping for his sister before taking the dagger and the rest of their gold as he promised to avenge her, and to never have an empty coin purse.

He left Cyrodill, tracking the Summerset Shadows to Skyrim. He went to Riften, deciding to finally join a Guild to track down the Shadows. He worked his way up through the Guild, eventually using his ill-gotten gains to help fund the Honorhall Orphanage and to co-own it. He was at first selfish and angry, only giving his money to the orphanage out of pity and nothing else. It was when he became a Nightingale that his life changed. He was given the power to be the greatest thief in Skyrim, and what was he going to do with it? Steal from nobles and spend it on booze and women? No. Not that. He would be a hero, like the Grey Fox, helping the downtrodden while also making a pretty profit for himself. He donned his armor, and killed Mercer Frey for his treachery, eventually becoming the Guild Master himself.

He was finally able to avenge his sister when he was given the contract to kill the Summerset Shadows. He tracked down their hideout, and didn't just kill them. He first snuck into their hideout, and poisoned their food and drink with a deadly nightshade mixture he had made for him. He then waited for them to all eat, all of the scum except for Linwe dropping dead as Adrian busted in and dropped the remaining guards. Hw slit the Altmer's throat, saying to the thief, "Lissa sends her regards," before piercing his heart and burning their banner, ending the Shadow's once and for all.

He now lives in Riften, balancing his duties as a Guild Master, Nightingale, and owner of an orphanage. He gave up on his old womanizing ways, and has decided to settle down with Constance Michel, who he fell in love with for her kind nature. While she knows he's a thief, she knows his heart's in the right place, and she tried to keep him out of too much trouble. He even adopted an orphan boy named Bron, and is teaching him to be a thief as well.

Other: (Quotes, theme song, etc. It's up to you, really.)

"Isn't it ironic that all great thieves' are famous? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of being a thief?"
-Talking about how every great thief in Skyrim seems to be a legend.

"I'm a thief. I want things."
-When asked why he stole a loaf of bread, a plate, and an iron from a merchant when all he needed was a prized ring.

"There's nothing better than a warm meal, a fine drink, and a beautiful woman in your lap."
-When asked what he likes most in life.

Name: Vivienne Marion Élodie Valmont

Age: 25

Race: Breton

Height: 5'3"

Weight: 119 lbs

Hair Color: Red

Eye Color: Blue

Weapons:
- Magic: Specalizes in Illusion, though is more than capable in Destruction and Conjuration as well)
- Sabre: Forged from fine steel, as much a symbol of her social standing as it is a tool of war.
- Daggers: Hidden in her sleeves, boots and bodice, should the worst happen.

Armor: Like the times, Vivienne's fashion tendencies are ever-changing. She wears muted colors when trying to blend in -- the greys and browns common around the smallfolk -- and vibrant colors when she wishes to be noticed, including velvets and silks in various shades of red, purple, green and blue. Rarely can she be found wearing the same outfit more than once in the span of months. For adventures, however, she has a set of dark leather armor, high boots lined with fur, and a reliable pair of gloves. (pic)

Personality: It's rather hard to pin down someone like Vivienne, and equally hard to tell where the facade ends and the woman begins. A life of playing at Daggerfall's court politics and many smaller games beside has made her a master of pretense. She can be a smiling minstrel, a shrewd negotiator, a spoony coquette, a dimwitted twit, a haughty lordling, a kind benefactor, whichever will bring her advantage. Which of these personas is real? What is left when all the disguises are stripped? Vivienne herself is not quite sure anymore. She is a cutthroat political player, willing to go to great lengths to get what she wants, to a point. She'd like to think she has some scruples, though she's not entirely sure whether or not she'd venture to break them. She has a talent for observation with a keen ear for gossip that might prove valuable for the right person.

Despite being an excellent spy and an impressive musician, Vivienne rarely opens up about her own life and keeps her true emotions well-guarded. She'd learned from a young age to keep the depths of her feelings hidden so they could not be used against her or the ones she loves. As a result, she can sometimes come across as dismissive or aloof when discussing matters of a personal nature.

Background: The House of Valmont has an interesting history as far as Breton noble familes go. Considered by some to be a cadet branch of the much older (and arguably more prestigious) House of Rousselle , the Valmonts were established at the turn of the Fourth Era by Sebastian Rousselle, the seventh son of the Duke Rousselle's fifth son. Instead of following the tradition of joining a knightly order or a mage's guild like other younger sons, Sebastian set out as an intrepid adventurer, plundering ruins and breaking hearts from Sentinel to Lilmoth to Solstheim. After seven years, the man was resplendent in treasure, with carts filled with all manners of artifacts, jewels and riches, and he returned to Daggerfall with the intent of purchasing over 2,000 acres of land some eighty miles north of the city. A town was set up, then a castle built, and soon enough the settlement with its sprawling plantations became known as Valmont. With newfound wealth and elevation in status, Sebastian petitioned the King of Daggerfall to grant him the title of Baron, officially establishing them as a new noble family. Sebastian would live to a venerable age, and died filthy rich.

Vivienne was born into her family's eighth generation, the youngest of Baron Gauvain Valmont's three children. Her brother Severin and sister Julienne were fraternal twins, over six years her senior. Their mother Roxanne was a workaholic in nearly every respect, busying herself with managing her husband's estate while letting legions of nannies and tutors to raise her children in her stead. Gauvain wasn't much better; he was a lecherous fop who gambled away a fair amount of his plantation's profits, and had little concern for doing anything other than keeping his head up his arsehole. Needless to say, there was little parental warmth to go around in the Chateau Valmont.

The Baron was never very fond of his younger daughter. For the twins, he had it all quite figured out: Julienne was to marry a noble lord and bring prestige to the family -- which she managed to do at the age of eighteen by wedding the younger son of a comte -- and Severin was to be his heir. He wasn't sure where Vivienne fit into all of this, other than that she'd have to be another dowry that would have to be paid. At sixteen, she was eventually sent off to Daggerfall to study music and magic. Her education lasted four years, though her mentors were neither the greatest nor the most famous of bards. Vivienne's career was not so glamorous either, though her father judged it would be better to keep her Illusion skills a secret until the family was in need of them. Still, she received a very solid set of skills, though her training was cut short when a double tragedy forced her back home.

Firstly, Julienne had died in childbirth along with her baby, which severed ties between the Valmonts and their most valuable political allies. Second, there was a catastrophic blight at the plantations, killing the crops and rendering the land barren. When attempts to salvage the harvest proved unsuccessful and the gambling debts started mounting, it became clear to the Baron that he'd have to marry off his remaining daughter and marry her rich. And so at the age of twenty, Vivienne Valmont became the wife of Lord Pascal Desjardins, a man with a sizable estate and enough money to cover the Valmonts' expenses,

However, the marriage was not an easy one. Pascal was proud yet temperamental, stern with his subordinates and occasionally violent, prone to drink, among other vices. He treated his wife like a conquest rather than a partner, and he heaped as much abuse on her as he dared to without incurring the wrath of her father. Nonetheless, she endured this state for a year before Pascal had a riding accident, which resulted in severe injury, which resulted in infection, which resulted in death. Unsurprisingly, Vivienne did not mourn her husband much, and there were many rumors regarding the circumstances of his death.

Vivienne now had full control of her late husband's business and estate, much to her father's displeasure, who immediately attempted to seize the assets. The ensuing legal battle ended miserably for him, and the Baron could do nothing but brood in the Chateau Valmont while Vivienne developed her new estates in Glenumbra. Her success earned her independence and recognition in Breton high society. She expanded her wealth, her friendships and connections, and soon became the talk of the royal court. When the idea surfaced to establish a proper diplomatic presence in Skyrim, her cleverness and resourcefulness led her to be offered appointment as the official ambassador of the Kingdom of Daggerfall. She accepted immediately, eager to pursue new avenues and opportunities, and now travels to Skyrim to begin her new career.
