Post your characters here!
This is the basic character sheet. You can add any other sections you want, but these are the necessary ones. BBcode is also fine, although you might want to add a non-coded one in spoilers if it's not mobile friendly, in the interest of being more accessible to other players.

NAME:
AGE:
GENDER:
OCCUPATION:

APPEARANCE: (can use either written description or fc.)

PERSONALITY:
LIKES:
DISLIKES:

BIO: (Can be as short on in depth as you like, just give us a sense of who this character is. You don't need to spill all here if you want to save some reveals for later.)
ABILITY: (Explain your character's meta-human ability here. Extra things that are useful to include are things like, how long is the cooldown period? Does it have any adverse effects when they use it? What are the strengths and weaknesses? How good is your character at controlling it? Please remember to keep things balanced.)
STRENGTHS: (These are practical things your character is good at that aren't tied to their powers. E.G stamina, strenght, ect.)
WEAKNESSES:

As said before, this is very bare bones, feel free to add extra sections if you want. ^^

NOTES/RULES:

- Remember to keep character's abilities fair and balanced! Your character can be powerful, but it's no fun if they're unbeatable.
- Max 3 characters.
- You don't need to create character sheets for 'npc' like characters, e.g side characters you aren't playing all the time. For example, if you write an interaction between your character and her mother, you don't then need to make a character sheet for the mother. (I know some people might think that's obvious; I only add this because sometimes people shy away from creating NPCs because they're not sure if it's allowed if they're not the GM. It's totally allowed here! ^^)
- As GM, I'm probably going to be making a few prominent characters that I won't be making sheets for, just so that there's no 'spoilers' if that makes any sense?
- Any FC type is okay.

NAME: Mars Ando
ALIAS: Oni
AGE: 17
GENDER: Female
OCCUPATION: Highschool Student + Works part time at an arcade

APPEARANCE: Mars is a tall, dark haired teen, with thick black brows often drawn into a frown, deep set brown eyes, pale skin, and a resting expression that looks like she's about ready to hit you. It's all very unintentional - she doesn't realise she's making that face, or giving off that intimidating aura, or doing that aggressive stance..

In her Oni persona, she dons a Hannya mask that completely covers her face. Her outfit depends on whatever she was wearing at the time, and the only other element to her 'costume' is a string of omamori - protective amulets - that she wears in the same way one would a wallet chain.

PERSONALITY: Mars has always been a good-hearted kid with a strong sense of justice, but her brash attitude and unfortunate background often result in her being mistaken for a delinquent. She has very poor volume control and is particularly blunt, which means she can often come across as angry and intimidating. Not helping things is that she is very easy to rile up, and has a fiery temper. However, despite her misleading way of presenting herself, Mars is a kind individual, willing to go the extra mile for someone, and she'll never forget to repay a good deed. Even though she partially does this to show people she isn't like her father, she doesn't do it for entirely self-serving reasons - even when in her anonymous superhero persona, she still wants to do good. She also has a slightly naive, almost childish side to her hidden beneath her brash veneer.

LIKES: Arcades, bubble tea, small animals, video games, motorcycles, the rain
DISLIKES: Her father, teachers, exams, old people, vegetables, her name

BIO: Up until the summer of 2009, Mars had a fairly unremarkable life.

She lived in the city with her parents, and she was happy, she thought. Her parents relationship was clearly waning, but they still loved her, and she knew that. She expected, cynically, that they'd go on a few more years and then divorce. It hurt a little to think about, but it also felt like it had been a long time coming, so it felt like less a stab and more like a dull ache. It would still be painful, but it was a pain she was already expecting, and that made it easier, she thought.

They did not get divorced. Instead, on an otherwise unremarkable summer night, her father came home early from work and caught her mother with the neighbour.

His rage did not end until her mother, the neighbour, and the first responding officer were dead.

Mars didn't see it - she wasn't even staying there that night, off in the countryside with her grandparents. It was days before she even knew just how much her life had changed. From then on, people treated her differently - with pity, with thinly veiled disgust, with sympathy, with anger. It didn't really matter that she had nothing to do it, people *knew* she had done nothing wrong. But with her mother dead and her father in jail, she was the only one still walking around there for people to project their feelings onto. This was not the main source of distress for Mars, however: what really got her was how people looked at her whenever she acted out or got angry. She knew they watched her outburst wondering if she was like him, wondering if there was some deep seated gene that made the Ando's violent and dangerous, something buried in her DNA that caused her to lash out. And every time they thought that, even though she knew it was stupid, she felt a lash of fear strike her - because what if they were right?

When she discovered her powers, of course, at first, she was scared. Now the idea that she might harm someone so casually without ever meaning to only terrified her further, made her withdraw from people. But when she saw others like her, going out into the city and using their abilities to help rather than harm, she was inspired by this, and began her life as Oni - a masked do-gooder who went around beating up petty criminals and trying to utilise her literal strengths in positive ways. Of course, she's still clumsy, so this hasn't really been going smoothly, and her persona hasn't really taken off yet..

a b i l i t i e s

ABILITY: Mars ability is that she possesses an incredible strength, that far surpasses what a teenager of her stature should be capable of. Her ability is always passively active, a.k.a it is always present and she does not need to activate it - in fact, she puts more effort into holding it back than she does into using it. Her precise strength fluctuates based on how much she is concentrating, but even in her most passive state she can lift and throw weighty objects casually.

The drawbacks of her ability are that, of course, since she can never 'switch' it off, she is constantly in danger of injuring someone even by doing just the most casual of actions. It's also not just other people she should be worried about - although her body has mostly adapted to this power, if she tries to overexert herself she is at risk of seriously injuring herself, more so than any regular injury you'd receive from overdoing yourself physically.

STRENGTHS: Morally, Mars always wants to fight the good fight. She will never desert an ally in a fight and knows that she often functions as the 'tank' of any group, so will use herself as a shield for physically weaker people.
WEAKNESSES: Her fiery temper and volatile personality is often not a good mix for her ability and makes her a liability, and she is not very tactically strong.

NAME:Apollo

AGE: 21

GENDER: Male

OCCUPATION: Masseuse

APPEARANCE:
IMG_20191109_005441.jpg

PERSONALITY:Apollo is cold and withdrawn, many tend to think this is because he has a deep seeded anger in him, but in honesty it's from growing up with abusively codependent parents. Learning to lie to get what he wanted from them, and to keep himself from getting beaten or worse. Apollo doesnt fully know how to not lie to keep himself from discomfort or confrontation. But outside of stressful situations Apollo is a very honest man, with integrity and respect. He try's to be kind to everyone, but lacks the initiative or drive to interact with others to get to that point.
He believes that he has a schizoaffective disorder. Voices from an unknown source talk to him, and often he can be found talking to himself( the voices) and speaking a language that doesnt seem to originate from earth.

LIKES:
Slightly cold rainy days.
The wind coming through the seems in a window.
Reading fiction books.
Getting to know people interpersonaly
Honesty.
Integrity.

DISLIKES:
Dishonesty.
Thunder & lightning.
Dark cellars or alleyways.

BIO: Apollo was born 1999, in an old broken down house, with swarms of flys hovering over piles of garbage just inches away from where he took his first breaths, if that doesn't paint the picture for what kind of life would have to endure up till 2020, then let's paint the picture a bit more. Life was a mess of learning language from the tv, and eating microwave meals from 2 up to 15.
Apollo would never really talk to his father. Who was constantly working at home on his web design business. Even with the ability to be at home working, Apollos father's interactions were far and few in between, all that consisted of cold quick mumblings "do what your told-listen to your mother- go to your room" as well as a hug here and there. Apollo's mother on the other hand tried to interact with him everyday, however in an increasingly codependent way, never letting him leave or go to public school in fear of him being influenced by any one but them, of becoming a bad kid and causing trouble.. Causing Apollo to be a recluse who never trully made friends. This was until he started to sneak out of the house at night, to roam the streets until midmorning, saying hello and nervously smiling at anyone that he passed on his way around the blocks nearest his house. This lasted this way for many years until 2018 when he moved out and apprenticed under a massage therapist and started living above the massage therapists office in a ran down one room apartment. He trained to find the stress in peoples muscles, where they held all the anger and frustrations of their day. He learned how to ease peoples pain from touch. Becoming quite adept at learning the ins and outs of anatomy so he could better relieve people of back pain and chronic pains. Although, on 2020, all this was abruptly taken from him with an explosion; unlike any other he had ever heard before. Shook him from his bed that night and forced him into a nauseating wreck and a vomiting fest in his restroom.

ABILITY: Nether manipulation
can create, shape and manipulate Nether, the "Chthonian Element" that flows through the realms of the living, and the Dead. Nether is most known as the substance that makes up the Underworld, a subterranean dimension where all souls go when they pass on.
~
[*]Entropy Manipulation:
Decomposition Manipulation: Manipulate the rate of degeneration in all.
[*]Disaster Manipulation: Control the destructive forces of nature.
[*]Epidemic Creation: Cause a rapid outbreak of any manner of afflictions.
[*]Necromancy: Magic involving the dead, life-force and/or souls.
[*]Phenomenon Inducement: Project all manor of disruptive effects
[*]Warping: Have an effect on everything in a way that disrupts it.
[*]Apollo has no true control over his powers yet, they lash out uncontrolled, and even when he wills his power it tends to do something other then he intended to happen. Each time he uses his power it ebbs away at his sanity, slowly driving him more and more mad. There is a limit to this, and he blacks out and loses his memory in order to protect himself from an overage of insanity. So in exchange for power, he forgets himself. Always on the run to understand who or what he had become.
[/LIST]

STRENGTHS: lying, multitasking, awareness of living being around him
WEAKNESSES: oblivious, and easily fooled. Has schizoaffective disorder. Allergic to rust.

((I'll tone down the powers if requested)) ok

NyxDarling NyxDarling Hello! Okay so everything up until the abilities section is totally fine, I really like Apollo; but reading the list of sub-abilities I think Nether Manipulation might be too vague and cast too wide of a net for what he can do, even with the limits? I think maybe cut down on some of the sub-abilities like supernatural manipulation, unnatural presence and cosmological force manipulation, and maybe have those 'unlock' later? I do like the idea that he has necromancy based abilities and gains power just from being around death though, and I think the limits are pretty fair and stops him from becoming overpowered, but I think for now maybe narrow down some of the abilities he has. (And ofc, he can unlock them later if you really wanna still use them ^^)
But then yeah after that I'm good to approve the character.

Thank you for liking my character. I've toned down his abilities like you asked. And I guess I'll let you decide on wether or not he obtains those powers later.

    [div class=tagC]Personality

Layla is a fairly typical twelve-year-old. She considers family, friends, and school to be important, she's trying to be a good person but can also be a brat at times- she's trying to figure out who she is. She has a stubborn and willful streak that will sometimes pop up, like when she decided to become a superhero. She's loyal but not to the point of stupidity, and can sometimes be a bit dense when it comes to humor, or other people's feelings. She's not easily taken in by lies but, when she feels someone deserves it, will show kindness and compassion. Her past experiences have made her somewhat mistrustful of people and a little more guarded, but she tries not to judge people too quickly or harshly.

    [div class=tagC]Occupation

    Full-time middle-school student and part-time superhero ;P

    [div class=tagC]Narrative

Layla was born to a single mother who, let's just say, had trouble with certain illicit substances. She struggled to take care of her child for a few years before abandoning her at an orphanage when Layla was only four. It was as typically dreary as you'd expect an orphanage to be, and Layla stayed there until, at the age of 8, she was adopted by a wealthy couple who wanted to give a deprived child a good home. Her new father, Richard Abernathy, was CEO of a company that would buy up and revitalize failing businesses- sometimes at a cost but, more often than not, at a profit. Her mother, Demetria Efthimios, was a famous greco-American artist. Both parents were kind, generous, loving people who supported various charities and the arts. They supported their daughter as well, encouraging her in pursuit of her artistic interests, providing lessons, supplies, ... as well as bringing her to various museums and artistic performances.

By the age of ten, Layla had become a happy and content young child, just like the others in her class- fitting in, having friends, going to slumber parties... She was extremely grateful for the life she now had and the parents who had given it to her, but she couldn't help but wonder about her birth parents sometimes. She wondered where her mother was now, and whether or not she'd managed to turn her life around. She wondered who her father was- whether he even knew she existed (and, if he didn't, whether he would want to know). At the age of eleven, after the strange worldwide occurrence, Layla discovered her abilities for the first time when she accidentally caused a large crack to appear in the ground at her school during recess. Luckily, no one could prove she'd been the one responsible, but it made her understandably afraid.

Since then, she's put on a costume to hide her identity and made trips to several safe locations in order to experiment with her powers. When she heard about the meeting of meta-humans, she decided to go, in the hope that she could find out more about her abilities- where they came from and how to control them-, and meet others there who were like her.
    [/div][/div][/div][div class="stab fourtab"]

    [div class=tagC]Ability

She's not quite sure how, but Layla can cause tremors in the ground, cause it to lift up or sink down at will- even create crevasses or rock formations. Her best guess at this point is that her power is either terrakineticism or gravity control- she hasn't had a chance yet to really experiment enough with it to pin it down and figure it out. What she knows is that, when she concentrates, she can make things happen. What she can do is, of course, going to be affected by her physical and mental state, her distance to the object(s), and the number and/or weight of what she's attempting to affect.

Using her power is quite draining, so she needs to be careful about expending too much of her energy. When she becomes upset, she has that that much more power and that much less control, resulting in her becoming a danger not only to her opponents but to herself, her allies, and even unfortunate bystanders in the wrong place at the wrong time. Layla enjoys using her power but gets frustrated with her lack of strength or control, and she worries about what she might do to people if she loses that control.

    [div class=tagC]Strengths

Layla's greatest strength is in her artistic ability. Painting is by far what she's best at, though she's also experimented with sculpting, pottery, crafts... She plays several instruments with varying degrees of proficiency, including the violin, the flute and the piano. Her mother has been teaching her to cook traditional Greek food, which she's getting steadily better at. Layla is surprisingly fast for such a small person, and is training to give herself more endurance.

    [div class=tagC]Weaknesses[/div]
Layla is fairly hopeless with languages, butchering any new one she tries to learn. She's never been all that coordinated or good at team sports, generally getting picked last in PE. Having a tendency to be forgetful of things she can't manage to develop a solid interest in, she gets bad grades in subjects like history and geography due to lack of memorization. And of course, being so small means she's basically no good in any kind of real fight without her abilities.

  • Personality: Layla is a fairly typical twelve-year-old.

Likes: Plushies, cute clothes, animals, sweets, tea
Dislikes: Coffee, tests, mean people, feeling foolish, loud vehicles

    Occupation: Full-time middle-school student and part-time superhero ;P

Narrative: Layla was born to a single mother who, let's just say, had trouble with certain illicit substances.

Ability: She's not quite sure how, but Layla can cause tremors in the ground, cause it to lift up or sink down at will- even create crevasses or rock formations.

Strengths: Layla's greatest strength is in her artistic ability.

Weaknesses: Layla is fairly hopeless with languages, butchering any new one she tries to learn.

NAME: Rafael Reed
AGE: 56
GENDER: Male
OCCUPATION: Mechanic

APPEARANCE:
5917526d91df41431d1ca1cb76c88770.jpg

PERSONALITY: Rafael has become everything he never wished to be. He's irritable, rude, standoffish, and just plain unpleasant to the people around him. Combined with his high functioning alcoholism and deep, deep unhappiness, Rafael is constantly in a state of despair. Though he wasn't always like this and occasionally the kind optimistic college drop out will shine through, e.g. sharing a drink with a homeless person or doing free repairs for people he can tell aren't in a good place.
But since acquiring his power Rafael has begun to do a little more good for those around him then he used to. Often he'll sit around listening to a police scanner waiting for any high speed pursuits that he can quickly stop by making the suspect brake and then pinning them against a wall or barrier with the car so they can't escape.

LIKES: Whiskey, night walks, classic punk music, vintage 60s muscle cars

DISLIKES: Kids and teenagers, happy people,

BIO: Rafael comes from a pretty average background; lower-middle class, went to public school, and attended community college for engineering. But lack of enthusiasm and motivation, as well as too many nights spent partying led to him dropping out and instead becoming an apprentice for the local mechanic. He had always been passionate about racing and so more then enjoyed spending his youth partying, fixing up cars, and volunteering at race tracks. But 3 failed marriages, poor financial decisions, and one growing dependency on alcohol has led him to being the broken man he is today.

ABILITY: Vehicle Manipulation
Rafael can create, shape and manipulate all kinds of vehicles, mobile machines that transports passengers or cargo, including wagons, bicycles, motor vehicles (motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, trains), watercraft (ships, boats), spacecraft and aircraft, etc. He can manipulate all their parts including the engine, and affect their properties.
With his power he can repair vehicles, manipulate their size and velocity, control them remotely, and enhance their interior and exterior components.

STRENGTHS: Fairly strong due to his work, exceptional understanding of most mechanics and engineering, and one hell of a cook.

WEAKNESSES: Has trouble connecting personally with other people, prone to jealousy, and doesn't understand how to use a lot of modern technology.

NAME: Brent Roless
AGE: 19
GENDER: Male
OCCUPATION: Sophomore

APPEARANCE: Brent stands at 5'7 and weighs 81 kilograms, with dark brown hair and brilliant, amethyst eyes. He has a pale scar underneath his right eye, and his face is marked with laugh lines. When it comes to clothing, he only ever does casual or classy, with nothing inbetween. This is the sort of person who would wear an undershirt as a normal shirt to a party, and would wear his Sunday best for a class presentation.

PERSONALITY
Brent is a well-adjusted member of society.

An energetic go-getter, he believes that hard work is an investment in one’s self, and that every wasted moment of your life is a deficit. Relaxing has its benefits, of course, and Brent has googled up enough knowledge from online fitness trainers to know that rest days were important for his body as well…but studying doesn’t require his entire body. He’s not someone who wishes to sculpt his body, nor is he seeking to win any upcoming competition. Instead, Brent pushes himself every single day because he wants to be ready for when he would want those things.

As of the present, however, his hard working attitude contrasts his lack of passion for anything in particular. He doesn’t love or hate, only like or dislike, and his smiles come so easily that, no matter how lovely or relaxing they are, to him, it’s just an involuntary facial twitch at this point. He’s not faking it. It just comes naturally. So…is he happy or content or satisfied constantly? Brent’s not too sure about that. He learns hard and works hard so he doesn’t have to think hard.

LIKES: Humanity, Cooking, Exercise, Winning, Adversity
DISLIKES: Anything in Excess, Stagnation, Losing

BIO
Brent was a good child. He was obedient, studied hard, worked hard, and never cause any real trouble with what antics he got himself into. He was enthusiatic about all things he did, and was always interested in trying new things too, even things that would normally be seen as boring, tedious, or weird. It was novelty that attracted him, even if that novelty never lasted long enough to really capture his heart. Instead, he went through life trying out everything he could, in search of the one thing that made everyone else sparkle, committing fully to everything.

But nothing made him want to jump out of bed in the morning. Nothing but his own force of will.

Maybe being a superhero or a supervillain would change things for him. But maybe it won't. And if it doesn't, what does that make him? Brent doesn't know, and he doesn't care to find out.

ABILITY: Overclock
The power to magically improve inanimate objects with science, this paradoxical power allows Brent to improve the functionality of anything for a maximum of five minutes, with the power becoming more effective and more energy-consuming the more complex the object originally is. Overclocking a rock would just yield a more durable rock, perhaps transmuted into a different material, but Overclocking a gun would improve it more noticeably, changing the very form of the gun. Furthermore, he can Overclock objects multiple times, refreshing the time limit and increasing the improvements in exchange for increasing the possibility of the object simply exploding or rusting away from developing too much.

When invoking his ability, silver circuitry flows from his arms into whatever he’s holding, engraving the entire object in glowing silver lines before expanding to cover the entire object. Air is displaced as the object is disassembled, then reassembled into a new form. The white light fades, revealing a new object. Further Overclocks cause a hot wind to encircle the object, as it creaks and screeches, bending its shape in order to evolve once more.

Concentration must be maintained to maintain the overclocked status, and any damage incurred upon overclocked items are translated to their regular status after the buff fades.

STRENGTHS: Physically and Academically Capable, Skilled in a Variety of Things, Wealthy, Cool Headed
WEAKNESSES: Jack of All Trades, Reckless, Unempathetic, Eager for Self-Sacrifice

Brittney Vanderhaven
24 years
Female
24/7 convenience store associate, 1st shift with occasional double shifts on 3rd shift

Description: Brittney is short, petite, and bouncy on her feet. She’s a great fidgeter when sitting still. She’s fair skinned and brown eyed with strawberry honey brown curls that easily go limp and are already starting to lose their natural luster. With too much sun, she gets red and peely -and very freckled- but it doesn’t stop her from enjoying the early morning. She has a cello body type, with generous hips and bust, and tiny shoulders that don’t look like they can support the weight. She is rarely out of her work uniform, and rarely lets her hair down from the dress code ponytail.

Personality: Brittney likes to do her best, and do it now. She likes people, always genuinely wishes them happiness, success and good luck. But you don’t have to dig too deep in the psychologist’s couch cushions to find that buried under her professional smile and work ethic are her superiority complex, perfectionism, toxic competitiveness, jealousy and uncompromising standards. Everyone should do their best. If you aren't, you are wasting the valuable gift of life. If she sees what you could be doing better, she’ll call you out on it, and it frustrates her when people don’t act on her advice. She’s doubly frustrated when effort doesn’t guarantee a successful outcome. She casts judgements with relatively little to go on. She’s sympathetic and encouraging to strangers, but has none to spare for old friends with the same old problems. She’s insecure about her own failure to make her dreams come true, and so she denies denies denies that anything is wrong with her life. But if her life was so great, why doesn’t she return to it right away? Why is she going to this metahuman hookup? She wants to be someone who makes a difference, in a big way, not just the one who brightens your morning commute and lunch break by radiating positivity.

Likes: smiling, cleanliness, tidiness, people pursuing their passions, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, helping people, dancing and singing to the music, her phone, the internet and free public WiFi (it is the solution to most problems that can’t be solved with 1) showing up, 2) doing the work, and 3) choosing to be happy)

Dislikes: procrastination, excuses, people standing in the way of their own happiness and success, the skin flakes from a sunburn, height jokes, talking about herself or her family

Strengths: naturally high motivation and energy, perpetually positive attitude, attention to detail, good caregiver, moderately fit due to stocking inventory and willingness to use any space as a dance floor

Weaknesses: the CCW training and community college defense course taught her to avoid a fight if at all possible, so she's not prepared to actually fight the Good Fight, doesn't deal with her personal shit but she has no problem meddling with other people, married to her phone, desperate to improve herself, struggles to do nothing

ABILITY:
Ghosting.

She can become faint, hover over the ground, or disappear. Ghosting functions like a muscle, requiring regular exercise to maintain or it atrophies, and needs additional exercise to build up. Once developed, she could apply this ability to objects or other people, but it is currently in its infancy.

Becoming transparent or invisible requires high energy and concentration. While faint or invisible, she cannot interact with the physical world, nor can the physical world engage with her. She could theoretically avoid a knife blow or a bullet, but it would be dangerous to rematerialize too soon. If she tries for invisibility but fails, she might manage transparent, but she can’t feel or see the difference. To her, she can see herself perfectly fine while invisible to others. Unfortunately, if she fails, it is very likely any movement on her part will completely restore her to the material plane. Lighting can also affect how effective her ghosting is, unless she’s become epically powerful. Things to look forward to if she survives that long. Still confused how this all works? Think similar game mechanics to MMO RPG sneaking and hitting ghosts with non-magical weapons.

Hovering is a low energy skill that requires nearly nothing to maintain, but can be tricky for her to start. Hovering isn’t walking or jumping. It is a unique vertical movement that doesn’t exist in human experience outside of slumber party games of Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board. The best way to start is to not confuse it with moving any muscle. Listening to meditation and yoga trainers is a great way to invoke the correct sensation and mindset. Her biggest hurdle right now is just getting it to happen. Got to learn to float before she can fly, and got to learn to fly before she can climb the walls like a creepy tiny poltergeist.

Ghosting is unreliable, and will continue to be so until she understands better the mechanics of what she’s actually doing when ghosting; which will present new problems (don’t overthink it, dear, or better yet, don’t get curious in the first place).

Possession.
She can take over another person. While in possession, her target is ??? (she doesn’t know where they are, and isn’t curious), and she is in control of their body. When she releases her target, they have no memories of their time. Possession can happen intentionally, or unintentionally. It is triggered when she concentrates on a person. A little too much staring, and abruptly her perspective changes. Returning a target to their body requires she return to her own body: again, intentionally or not.

While possessing, she gets the body and voice, complete with muscle memory, but no actual memories. She could, in theory, open the lock on someone’s phone or the use the pin on their credit card or do the backflip a former gymnast has been doing since pre-K, but fooling their friends and family would require serious acting and research on her part.

Possession is not sex-restricted (she can possess dudes too). Dramatic physical differences can be distracting, and too much distraction can accidentally release the possession. Method acting instead of technical acting could potentially help her stick with a tricky possession.

While she’s off possessing people, her body goes around on auto-pilot. Her empty body can drive familiar routes safely, eat prepared food and answer with scripted language (ie. How are you today? Fine. Yourself? Good. Would you like a receipt? Have a great day.), but cannot do complex tasks, like take the initiative or plan or invent a lie. Her empty body lacks emotive muscle tone, resulting in some zombie-esque creepy interactions, which those around her usually assume is drug-related (namely, that she’s on too many sedatives).

If her target dies while possessed (this is, of course, very sad for her target and their family, I’m sure), there is a window where she can ghost for a few seconds and possess someone in the vicinity (not a comfort for the bereaved that she’s still at it, I’m sure). If she can’t retarget quickly enough, she gets booted back to her body, wherever it is. If her body dies while she’s away, she’ll be experiencing a rather permanent ghost state only alieved by possessing. If her body dies while she’s in it, this ability won’t kick in and she’ll be DEAD. This isn’t an immortality power; it just has the potential to be abused in such a way that she can ruin a lot of lives in her scramble for survival.

With practice, she could daisy-chain her possessions; going from person to person without returning to her body between, causing the people she possessed earlier to all default to auto-pilot without returning her targets to their bodies. She could zombify legions. Worse yet, if her body were to die while she had a daisy chain, no one in the chain would ever be returned to their body. She would effectively kill all of them.

The possibility isn’t even on her radar but I personally like analyzing her ability’s capacity for evil. Or good. I guess she could zombify bad people and herd them off to trial and jail, but therein lies the frightening possibility of a serial killer zombie with a muscle memory for killing.

Disclaimer: These advance abilities are speculative and not based on her actual use. She’s not currently using her possession ability for anything more illustrious than helping an insecure friend ask out their crush, or attending college classes for a customer who is partying too hard and too often.

The Architect
32 years
female
Unemployed. Amateur shoplifter and trespasser/squatter. Seeking work as a sidekick for any costumed meta who's got it together or a test subject for anyone trying to reverse the metahuman event.

Description: She’s not particularly tall, but she’s thin and long in a way that makes her seem taller than she is. Long neck, long fingers, long nails, long waist, long legs, long feet. Built like a column. Medium brown hair cut into a jaw-hugging bob, stacked shorter in the back to continue the angular sweep of her jawline. It is perhaps more flattering a style than if she had a simple bob, which would lollipop her head, but just serves to make her face look just as long as the rest of her features. It helps disguise the otherwise noticeable large hazel Bedouin eyes though.

Nothing like getting caught looking right into a security camera to put a lady off full frontal eye contact. It went viral. If anyone is looking for an easily identifiable metahuman, she’s it.1

She’s been out of reach of her own closet too often, and shoplifting in store changing rooms just to keep in clean clothes. After the Russian Incident, she is scared of being seen naked and has been packing on longer sleeves and longer hemlines than she ever did before the metahuman event. She’s pretty sure they’ve got a dossier outlining the placement of every mole and scar she has.2

Personality:
She dropped her old life like a hot rock after the millionth time her parents had to come pick her up. She wants to pretend she can be someone else, but Architect isn't a fully formed person, it is a persona. There is going to be some kookiness until she figures out who she is now.

Strengths:
Extremely high spatial memory.
Once she’s seen a room, she understands the dimensions and orientation well enough to navigate it blind. When she was young, she thought she really could see in the dark because she could “see” where her toys and furniture were after bedtime. It only confused her when something had been moved without her knowledge and she’d bumped into or step on something that “wasn’t there”. It predates the metahuman event and is quite natural. This ability is like a force constantly in opposition to her power and emotions, keeping dimensions fixed. It also protects those under her influence from her alterations collapsing when she’s not conscious or is blinded.

Impulsive. She’s at her best when she’s not thinking too hard about it. It has allowed her to have some really incredible experiences in her new life. It is just unfortunate that most of them involved trespass and fraud.

Paranoia. She doesn’t like cameras to start with, because they imply someone is always watching you. It is worse when she doesn’t want to be found by anyone doing the looking. Great news is that this is a good instinct when someone wants you dead.

Weaknesses:
Low duplicity.
When confronted, she just isn’t good enough at lying to con people for long. Part of it is nerves and inexperience. The larger part is that she chockful of easily recognizable tells. And then, her impulsive excuses start to contradict each other and common sense. Not good. She’s spent the majority of her life extremely law-abiding, and she’s not adapted yet. This is a major problem when you are in quarantine and trying to explain to Russian officials why you don’t have identification, a passport, and can’t speak a lick of the Russian language.

Vulnerable bundle of raw nerves. Also known as low adaptability. The metahuman event divested her of things that people take for granted, like physics, linear time, and fixed dimensions. That doesn’t do great things for a person’s grasp of reality. It also peeled away her support network of family and friends. Before she lost her family again, they were driving her everywhere. It has been a giant blow to her ability to function independently. And she’s terrified that her metahuman condition will give others an excuse to ignore her human and legal rights.

ABILITY:
Architectural/Spatial Manipulation and Transdimensional Portaling

As her name suggests, she has a special way with buildings. Or, more accurately, buildings stop being rigid constructs affixed in time and space when she’s inside. She can push a wall to expand their dimensions, or keep pushing to force an exit. She can find a hidden door that wasn’t ever there, that leads to the next room, or a different location, or, strangely, a public bathroom where the showers are great but the toilets are perpetually clogged and overflowing. Sometimes, the building forgets what year it is, and she’ll find herself interacting with remodels that haven’t happened yet. There is rarely any design unique in residential and commercial buildings, and that plays havoc with her spatial cognizance, meaning she can travel through suburbs in eight different cities without ever stepping foot outside. She can manage to find stairs that access rooftops and sewers that aren’t in the blueprints, and worse, weren’t designed at all.

Fear can creep along the spine of a staircase, bending it backward. Fear can flood a basement, tilt a floor, lock a door, or rot a support. Fear can bring the house down on top of her. Fear can make the next house the wrong one, full of people with skeletons in their walls who don’t take kindly to uninvited guests in their kitchen. The right kind of fear, though, with that special cocktail of adrenaline, can let her keep moving until she’s outpaced whatever terror she’s escaping, or found a pathway to Outside. Outside: That magical place between buildings, where her power is so nullified that it destroys her ability to recognize landmarks (in other words, she gets quickly lost even in her own hometown). Outside is powerful Kyptonite and there is an endless supply of it, everywhere.

People in her immediate vicinity are under her influence. This means they can interact with a building temporally unhinged (though depending on their familiarity with the building, they might not perceive its altered state), they can follow her escape routes (including enemies, as long as they keep her in sight or touch), they can tip the balance of a teeter-totter floor, and they can enjoy the benefits of a long hot soak in a giant public bath any time the architect needs to tinkle. If they follow her, they will get lost. If she follows them, only she risks getting separated and lost. The best advice for arriving at your intended destination when in her company is to 1) ensure she isn’t conscious, 2) be the one to drive the car, or 3) make her scared witless when you want to go to the last place she wants to be.

Her influence on a building isn’t permanent and reverses when she leaves. While most of these reversals are harmless or even beneficial, lingering in a doorway or escape tunnel could mean being trapped in a pocket dimension she’s not guaranteed to return to.

She isn’t at full strength yet. She’s not even remotely fit, if we are keeping with the fitness metaphor. While panic can make it seem like she’s uber-strong when she’s bringing the walls down around your ears, it will take quite a lot of exercising for her to manipulate cinderblock and concrete like she does drywall, or be successful with a concentrated effort. She has almost zero control at this point. The pressure of intention and concentration cripples her efforts, because she doesn’t have that muscle memory yet. So if asked to make a camping tent bigger, she might not be able to expand it by more than a few inches before risking collapsing it.

BIO: After the metahuman event, the Architect became completely unmoored from her life. She couldn’t find her way home, or to work, and after she lost her phone, she panicked her way through several countries. Her family did try to help, and rescued her countless times, as great expense. But ultimately she lost them more times than they found her, and she’s realized they can’t be a part of her new reality as long as she’s afflicted with these powers. She has symbolically given up her old identity, and with it, her name. As such, she doesn’t feel the need to wear a mask, because the Architect doesn’t have another –normal- life to protect.3

She hasn’t robbed a bank yet, but she’s been out of funds since she lost her phone. It has necessitated shoplifting, with varying degrees of success. She’s been eating in cafeterias and buffets where once she’s inside, she can eat with minimal interaction with staff. She’s been sleeping in hotels, empty houses, and once, in a place she discovered while in a panic she’s named the Safe Nook, that seems to be someone’s emergency bunker.

She’s stumbled into the Safe Nook a couple times, and that frequency is very unusual. Sometimes it looks like it has been used recently, with the humidity still up after the occupant’s shower, and sometimes it is so dusty, she’s sure she’s visiting its distant future when the original owner is long dead, and possibly the rest of humanity with him. She wants it to mean something, that she keeps finding that place, like a lodestone drawing her in. But she’s also terrified of its absent occupant, who clearly did not design their secret lair to house guests, and who felt the need to have a long term solution to withstand a modern siege. She's named the mysterious owner The Bear, because she feels like Goldilocks, using his one chair, one bowl, one bed. Also, bears are scary and can eat you and you should never ever forget that when you are trespassing in a bear's lair. It seemed an apt metaphor.

A new acquaintance brought her to the meetup. She literally could not have found it to save her life.

Author Notes:
1 I’m trying to stay realistic about how likely a metahuman with such a debilitating out of control power could escape the gazillion camera phones and security cameras on the planet. The simple answer is she can’t. If this invites a roleplaying problem, and not just extra spicy conflict for the characters, we can suspend reality and deploy a common superhero trick: give her glasses. No one could possibly recognize her then.
2 Yeah, scary as the Russian Incident was for her, the officers who brought her in for questioning discounted her as a scared American tourist and barely made any report what so ever. It predates the viral video. They released her without ever connecting her to metahuman activity. Details Architect doesn’t know because she’s not an omniscient writer.
3 I swear, she will have a mask on before the end of my first post, but not of her own volition. I heard the warning loud and clear when Nue said those who were easily recognizable would be easy to kill.
