She hadn't been able to take a break from her research, and she was paying for it the next morning with her incessant yawning. The coffee she sipped at, watching the sunrise didn't help either, it just made her feel warm and content and all the more tired. She yawned throughout her shower, getting dressed and breakfast. Irene cast a longing glance at her bed and pretended to scowl at her laptop, which sat innocently on the countertop. The aluminum surface glittered and sparkled as the rays of sun were cast on it by the nearby window, and as much as she adored the device, it was also the main reason why she wasn't in bed and enjoying the day wrapped up in sheets. She debated whether or not she should text her boss that she wasn't coming in today, but she had already gotten dressed and ready, and she wasn't about to waste a perfectly good outfit. So she decided not to, electing to grab her things and slide them neatly into her blue messenger bag, sliding the worn brown strap onto her shoulder. The weight felt quite familiar, the folders, laptop, lunch and other miscellaneous items being a constant addition on her journey to work. As she slipped out of her apartment, locking up behind her, her eyes caught on the next door neighbor. Had someone moved in? It had been a long time since the space had been occupied: the last neighbor who had lived there eventually moved on to bigger and better places. Sitting up there was a young child, a mop of deep brown hair cast over his vibrant green eyes as he raised an arm and pointed towards the house, blabbering excitedly. "Shh, shh, little Tim," He cooed, reaching a hand up to hold Tim's.
Soon enough he had reached the quaint white door of his new house. This was it; He was going to cross the threshold into his very own home. Well, his and Tim's. Taking a deep breath, he swung open the door, prepared to step inside, and spotted a girl across the street. Even from his far view he could see the looming bags under her eyes and the glare she seemed to cast at nobody in particular. Her hand was clutched tightly around the strap of a messenger bag that looked like it was about to burst at the seams. Sliding Tim down off his shoulder, he quietly slid the door closed before starting to cross the street. He had to make friends with his neighbors, so why wasn't now a good time to start?
As he crossed the street, he raised his hand in a small greeting. "Hey there! I'm Alec." Hopefully she would take well to his attempt at friendliness, but he really couldn't gauge what her reaction would be. [/div] [/div] [/div] [/div]
