Personality: To accurately describe Alistair would be the lifelong dream come true for his family. The child has always been a mystery even to those who love him the most. It is impossible to keep up with what direction he is going in at any given time, for his interests and desires appear to change on constant whims. Some things about Alistair Berkley are unchanging though, his incredible knack for staying in the long shadows of their massive estate and eavesdropping on all matters of the family and the house has been a skill of his for quite some time. Although, no one has any idea why he does it.

Alistair doesn't take interest in most other people, leading the staff to come to the conclusion a long time ago that he is perhaps a sociopath. That isn't entirely true, Alistair does hold great affection and love for his family but his methods of emotional expression can be peculiar. He is an excellent listener with an exceptional memory, he is thoughtful in his displays of love of friendship. It's just very difficult to get close to him, as he tends to prefer the company of his many cats or an old book that he has rescued from the dust-collecting shelves of their library.

A lifetime of firm educational standards and a desire to learn beyond what others perceived his abilities to be, Alistair is a very well spoken young man when he bothers to converse with the world around him. His vocabulary is extensive and his words are carefully selected to express exactly what he needs them to. That said, often times to members of the staff Alistair can be a rather quiet bully, speaking in riddles or changing the definitions of his instructions for them at a moment's notice. To the people Alistair does not like, he is quite a menace.

There is no doubt that Alistair is the go-to member of the family for information on what is going on around the estate, but knowing how to make him talk, or even knowing if he is telling you the truth, is another matter entirely that requires careful observation of his mood and personality. Alistair is loyal to his family, and harbors a mysteriously strong hatred for the common mortal, and it is rare that he extends any kindness to those of them that he is surrounded by.

If one were to somehow break through the child's meticulously woven web of curiosities which keep his deepest thoughts and feelings safe from the outside world, they would find him difficult to maintain a close relationship with, but rewarding in that Alistair is steadfast in loyalty and gifted in making others feel appreciated if he chooses to.

Biography: Alistair grew up on the estate, rarely leaving except for on trips around the south for different coven meetings and social visits with his parents. His curiosity for the outside world was not very prevalent at first, having two older siblings to keep him company and friends within the coven he saw a few times a year. He was unaware that there was much to be missed out on. Besides, it was instilled in him from a young age that he was part of keeping alive a sacred and ancient way of life, and that his dedication to his craft was more important than anything the world of common men had to offer.

Nothing in particular happened to make Alistair so strange, he simply grew up that way. The youngest of three, as tight-knit as they were, meant that he had to learn to cause his own, special kinds of trouble. Trouble that was uniquely his own. Alistair used magic and spells to torment his other siblings, to disappear into shadows and eavesdrop on his family and stir up drama between the house staff... But he was young, and often his strategies were not well thought out. Alistair was the source of several...disappearances... of certain staff members over the years thanks to careless magic and being found out on unfortunate occasions.

Something did happen, however, to make him so resentful of mortals. You see eventually a curiosity did grow within him, and though it did not consume his every waking moment, it began harder to ignore the affairs of the human house staff, the comings and goings of them as they would go into the town and return raving about some mortal drama. Alistair, always hungry for more knowledge, wanted to know what the world was like.

Escaping was an easy feat when you already went unnoticed, Alistair slipped away a few times a month, explored the town and its people. It would not take long before being young would get the best of him, and he fell madly in love with a mortal boy from the town. They became friends, then more than friends, it was the heavens divine to be in the throes of love... But of course, it didn't last, not at all. Not when the other boy's family discovered their relationship and sent their son to live in the north with distant relatives where he would be forced to attend a religious school to help cleanse him of both the darkness they believed the Berkley boy had attached to him and his curious preferences for romance. Alistair never heard from him again, and he hasn't left the estate since. He learned the hard way that he world was cruel and would never accept all that he was. He remains now on his family's property, tormenting the ones there to torment, keeping close to his family.

None of the family knows of his previous boyfriend nor that they were torn from each other's lives abruptly by the the hands of narrow-minded mortals, Alistair keeps it all to himself. Besides, he knows what his family would say: that's what he got for dealing with the people of the town, for dealing with mortals at all.

Now he mostly tends his studies and wanders about the property practicing all manner of magics, knowing that one day soon he will be considered an adult warlock, and that he will have to impress the coven with knowledge and ability.

Powers: Alistair tries to keep all of his abilities up to par, but he dreams of being the best clairvoyant in the witching world. He loves to talk to dead people, and he uses his ability to manipulate spirits to help him with his causing chaos. Also since he loves to cook so much, he is a big fan of alchemy and potion crafting.

Anything else: Alistair isn't a thief, but if he finds something in the estate that he's never seen before, he will hoard it and not try to find its owner. And he does steal cigarettes from the staff since he is not old enough to buy them.

Elise Berkley
21
Female
Bi
Eldest Sibling(Witch)

Face claim: Emma Stone
Height: 5'7"
Hair color: Light brown
Eye colour: Green

Likes: Animals, basking in the sun, nature, music, her siblings.
Dislikes: Noise, obnoxious people, violence (unless necessary), not knowing something.
Vices: Has a mischievous streak to her, can get violent quickly if her siblings are in danger, has a tendency to eavesdrop.
Virtues: Patient, kind, a good listener, intelligent.
Skills: Talented at the violin, drawing, and dancing. She loves to dance.

- Personality -
Elise is a very patient and wise individual. She looks after her younger siblings with great joy. She can be kind, as long as you show her the same. But cross her siblings, or her, and you'll be sorry. She has a wild protective streak. She loves to take nature walks, and climbing trees to watch the surrounding areas. Shes' generally easygoing, and loves conversation. But she can also be quite mysterious to the staff, and loves to jump down from trees to scare people.

Can often be seen humming softly to herself on occasion if shes' in the mood. Is a bit of a foody, and is often seen with some sort of treat in her mouth. And she thoroughly enjoys teasing people she is close to.

- Bio -
As the eldest, Elise has more expectations put on her than any of her younger siblings, so she has to work twice as hard. From practicing her magic, to her normal studies, she puts 10 times the effort into everything she does. She's always loved to learn, so she learned to dance, she learned violin, and she taught herself to draw, as side projects. She has always been kind to staff, but has always kept her secrets close to her chest.

With her coming of age ceremony coming up, Elise knows that she has to be prepared, so she's been training extra diligently lately to perfect what she's been lacking in and to make sure all her siblings are behaving as they should. She knows she can't control them, but she's hoping her words will be listened to at least partly.

- Powers -
Talented in shapeshifting(loves her cat form), healing (as long as its not internal), and can moderately control plants.

Vices:
naggy, passive, uncreative, close-minded,…

Virtues:
tidy, methodical, resilient, disciplined,..

Skills:
Lovely singing voice, housekeeping

Personality:

It takes a certain type to serve the Berkley family, and last. If not the perfect fit, then Catherine comes pretty close at least to that perfect type. The seasoned attendant is dutiful, diligent and indifferent in the face of harassments. She knows how to meet the family’s every expectation, and if impossible, then satisfy them enough to keep her being trusted.

She appears emotionless always and showed little expression in front of her masters and mistresses. Even in the face of ridiculous tall orders and most vile of pranks, she keeps herself in line and shrugs off all attempts at her patience.

She desires nothing more of her living environments than being orderly, to the point of obsession. When the books have been arranged alphabetically; all kitchen utensils in their respective cabinets, with markings for their uses and when to; the furniture right where they should be or where their owners want them to be, immediately; no trace of dust nor passing odor; only then would she be at peace.

While not particular nosy, and tends to keep to herself, Catherine also enjoys a good gossip and engages in small talks willingly, but within a limit.

As the most senior servant, Catherine frequents the town for errands and is well received there, despite a certain drama three years ago. She is seen as a mild manner, polite girl by the town people, and indeed is one.

The one thing she can’t stand is low temperatures. She has almost no cold tolerance, sneezing at the first drop of summer rain. As a result, it’s rare to see her in less than three layers of clothing and a cosy scarf when it is but a bit cool.

Barring cleaning, arranging and patrolling around the houses, her only hobby is music. At night she listens to classical pieces using an antique radio; sometimes she composes her own melodies and jots down the notes in her mind; the following day she would hum those melodies with a broom in hand. By her lonesome, during the long walk into town, or while cleaning the basement, she would sing to herself only, in such sweet voice, of the beauty of summer and fall.

Bio:
Catherine was born into a wealthy family full of mysteries, as a servant. Then it changed little through the course of her life. As a child, she learned to take care of menial tasks and prepared to spend her life as a servant. Too small to complain in earnest, her feeble mind was subjected to daily mouldings to become a being fully devoted to her masters and mistresses, it succeeded in parts only, as the girl retained the resilience needed to withstand a life owned by this peculiar family. Though still loyal to the Berkley more than they to themselves, Catherine still possessed a private part in her mind where lies free will.

As she grew up, so did her responsibilities, and after a good 15 years, the girl effectively outlived her senior colleagues. She stood as the most seasoned of the Berkleys’s attendants. Knowing all in and out of the family, as far as the housekeeping tasks concerned, down to specks of dust on their appropriate floors and secret closets; to the particular mattresses and set of clothes, of which were favored by each family member or haunted by the dark force. She pried not into the family affairs, nor did she care: a servant’s supposed to be as one with the wall, and like cutleries, ready to be of uses at all times, with their mouth shut.

She considered that way of life satisfying, despite the hazards come with the job. No less than five times a day, the young masters and mistresses preyed on her with their creatively vicious minds, and seemed to get better at it every day. The house itself too, its supernatural occurrences and paranormal activities were determined to shake off her indifferent attitude.

At the age of 16, Catherine was the most trusted employee of house Berkley. She seemed unchanged, predictable and was expected to continue diligently, but underneath the trained stoic face, restless waves were wreaking havoc her adolescence mind. Unknown to the family, Catherine fell in love with a local boy she met once in town, a charming one with an idealistic mind and free spirit. The love birds would rendezvous in their secret corner every time Catherine went on errands in town (perhaps a family member or two did know, but took no action for their own reason). Madly in love and blinded by passion, they took flight in the night to a place so far away, pledged to never come back.

In a tiny apartment, the newlywed couple struggled in poverty, but it was such a grand life and love they had. Her husband, brilliant as he was, started his own business in the green energy industry and racked up debt as big as his vision. Meanwhile, Catherine was employed by another rich family, they were great people, and the young mistress even invested in her husband’s company. Things could only get better from there. Or so she thought. A full year had yet passed when Catherine found her dearest with his hand up the young mistress’s nightgown. Thus, ended the happy life with her first love.

Almost immediately, she returned to the Berkleys's estate. The details of her brief departure and the subsequent punishments were best known to her only. After resuming her duty as an attendant, she served the family tirelessly as if not even once had left.

Responsibilities: She’s mostly in charge of the cleaning, laundering and organizing of everything she has access to.
