Christina Diazni
~The Apothecary's Owner~
.

Her eyes blinked once. Twice. Three times, before a puff of mystical smoke caught her attention. Keeping her eyes solely focused on the cauldron, Christina stirred the thick mixture at a steady pace, ignoring the emerald substance irritating her eyes. The smoke wavered in frustration, before suddenly dissolving into the air, leaving nothing but a subtle rain of glittering dust. With a sigh of relief, Christina let her eyes wander to the ceiling, and her arms drop to her sides. “And that.” She announced proudly with a hint of exasperation. “Is how you deal with the Emerst Berry.” A relieved smile lit up her face, as her eyes locked onto her young apprentice. “Now, we can just leave the mixture to sit. Soon enough, we’ll have a powerful anaesthetic potion.” After a few slow steps, Christina flopped herself down onto the closest wooden chair, misplacing the bundle of fabric already present on the seat. Considering the fact that she’d stood up for 5 whole hours, whilst constantly siphoning her magical energy towards the brew, she felt that she deserved a hard-earned rest.

The Emerst Berry had always been such a troublesome ingredient in brewing. Despite it’s clear medical potential, the pure strength needed to nurture it into a usable medicine for humans, was just outrageous. Even for Christina, who’s been vigorously studying witchcraft since she was a child, the process is mentally and physically draining. It’s easy to see why Christina somewhat dreaded this lesson with Magdalene. With a soft glance towards said person, she slowly began pondering the time they’ve had together. It felt like only yesterday, when the young witch burst through the apothecary doors and requested to be her apprentice. It was so sudden, yet not in a bad way. Christina has always wanted some company around here afterall, and, she’s not a bad friend, though a little clumsy sometimes.

A slight chuckle escapes her lips, as she notices a lock of pastel pink hair sticking out proudly atop Magdalene’s head. Prying her body off the creaky-old chair, she walks over to her with a tired smile. After patting her head softly, mainly to cushion the rebellious strand of hair, Christina sat herself down on the stool right next to hers. “Did you get all that?” She smiles, as her limbs relax and sink to recover their strength.
