Morgan is complicated. She can be manipulitive in board room meetings and is the face of Avalon, being the one to announce new products and the main brain behind them. Her true passion is the and she's a workaholic, always working on something or the other. She doesn't care for pleasantries and can be quite rude.
She often attends lavish parties and is seen on the arm of a new man, or rather they are seen on her arm, every week. Yet she never mixes pleasure and business.
When prowling the streets at night, she is cold and detached and very territorial.
Background
Morgan was born the second of three daughters of a wealthy software mogul focused on security for the military and large corporations.
She was born with telekinetic powers she never knew how to stop. Items would float around her whenever she got emotional, reacting to her anger, sadness and loneliness. She threw all her energy into programming; logic keeping her emotions on track. Her only support was her little sister who encouraged her to try to control her powers instead of hiding with her computer in her room all day.
When she was 14, she was accepted into MIT on a special scholarship for people with special abilities like her. There she worked with others from the Cambridge area to control her powers but she didn't want to accept the same stigma they did by identifying themselves to the public while completing a bachelor degree in Computer Science.
When she was 19, her parents and youngest sister were gunned down in a robbery attempt and she rushed back home, leaving her Masters unfinished.
She and her sister Analise inherited the company and became CTO and CEO respectively, taking it for a new turn into consumer electronics. Seeing how the crime in the city cut her beloved little sister's life short, she decided to take on the mantle of Clairvoyant and stop crime.
As Clairvoyant
Clairvoyant has telekenetic powers which allow her to levitate up to 500 kg worth of objects including herself. However, her main power is her intellect and the masquerade of fear she lays over the city. She uses her telekinesis to make the public believe her to be a Supernatural Entity
Her largest opponent is Arthur Aurelianus, who is trying to unite all organized crime in the city under his banner. He is also conducting experiments on other people born with powers. He's obsessed with Clairvoyant and they know each other's secret ID. But Morgan has never been able to pin any crime on him and they share a certain respect for each other.
Analise Bates
Morgan's older sister and CEO of Avalon Industries. She's hard working and dependable, often exasperated at Morgan's antics.
Arthur Aurelianus
Arthur Aurelianus is Head of Logres Incorporated and Avalon's main competition. While Morgan scoffs at his security protocols and rigid UX, he lambasts her UX as confusing and her hardware as cheap. He also looks to rid the city of crime, but his methods are to regulate it as its head rather than playing whack-a-mole with the different organizations, He's obsessed with Clairvoyant and bringing her down.
AVALON ANNOUNCES NEWEST OPERATING SYSTEM: ISLAND IDA
After the success of Island Empire and Gala, many speculate Avalon Corporation can do no wrong. It seems they are correct as their latest product seems simply amazing.
In an exclusive interview, Morgan Bates (21), CTO of Avalon gave us an exclusive interview.
"Make no mistake" she waggled her finger at me "Our priority is still security, but we can still deliver an amazing looking product."
She's right, after the sudden death of former CEO and father of Morgan, Ulric Bates, Morgan and her sister and current CEO Anna Bates (25) inherited the majority of Avalon's shares and broadened the company's focus from corporate and military use to personal devices. Since then, their market share in personal devices has jumped to almost 30% from its meager 5% before.
However, how well can this product do? Its release date comes days after the release of Logres Inc's newest Laptop, holding approximately 60% of the personal device market. Yet Bates didn't seem to be worried. Pushing up her glasses and pushing back her black hair, she explained:
"We're slowly catching up" she noted "Our market share has been increasing and almost a third of all Logres users still pay for our Operating System despite their laptops coming with one"
And lastly, she gives us a bit of insight on her success and how she manages to deliver amazing products, yet host so many charity events and parties.
"Work hard and Play harder, that's what I always say” she smiled and leaned back in her chair.
Arthur Aurelianus (28), CEO and Technology Lead at Logres was not available for comment.
Elian grew up with a poor family. His father was an abusive drug addict, and his mother had just been laid off shortly after giving birth to him. For a year, the family struggled, and then a mysterious offer came. It was from a shady scientist, who asked to perform experiments on the young Elian in exchange for an outrageous amount of money. His mother, of course, refused, but behind her back, the desperate druggie of a father took the deal. His parents were given visiting rights, but Elian would grow up at the facility.
Elian then spent five years being poked and prodded. He only has hazy memories of his tie there, but he does remember the giant needles and white doctor coats. And the pain. Everything always hurt. It's where his fear of all things medical related stems from. He remembers his mother's visits as well, how she'd always scream at the doctors and then be taken away till she'd come the next week. His father never visited.
When he was about six, the FBI found out about the inhumane studies done there, and shut it down. Embarrassed by the prospect that one of their own would do such a thing - as the facility had been run by a government official - they kept it quiet.
At the time, it seemed nothing was out of the ordinary and that there were no residual side effects from Elian's treatment. He spent the rest of his years fairly happy, blocking out the scarring memories of his younger childhood days.
His mother got remarried when he was thirteen, and soon after gave birth to a little baby girl, whom they named Emily. His stepfather had a brilliant job as well, so for once, the family had enough food on their plate, and enough clothes on their back.
He got accepted to a college for the arts, and as soon as he graduated, opened up his own studio, with an apartment included above.
It wasn't till a few months back that everything changed.
Elian had been feeling sick for weeks, and refused to go to the doctor due to his crushing phobia. It was a good thing he hadn't because at the peak of his horribly painful illness, wings abruptly sprouted from his back - ripping his favorite sweatshirt and busting a huge hole in the wall (that had been hard to explain). He blacked out and when he awoke, he found he had other superpowers.
He was able to keep it a secret for a bit, but somehow, an organization for superheroes found out and scooped him up which is where he has been. However, he does not yet have any clue that everything he's been doing is all a lie.
Persona
Personality
Elian has a heart of gold. He always is striving to do the right thing, and it eats him up inside when he doesn't. He was the type of kid, who'd secretly eat an extra cookie, then come crying to his mother afterwards. He's very goofy and lighthearted, as well as sarcastic - never take anything he says seriously. He treats life like a joke most times. Unless it comes to his work as a 'hero', which he takes very seriously. He's very big on trust and honesty, and when that's broken, he takes it hard. Normally, he's a very forgiving person, but when it comes to breaking trust, there's no going back. He's not easily gullible, though it may seem like he is at times. And he's an incredibly sweet guy.
At the moment, he's also really confused. He doesn't realize that what he's doing is actually wrong, and whenever he does realize that, he's made to quickly forget it.
Abilities
Abilities
Elian has very large, very strong wings. He's got the eyes - quite literally - of a hawk. He can zoom in and out at will, and has remarkable eyesight. He's got enhanced agility, strength, senses, healing and speed as well. And he can, of course, fly. The only difficulty with that however, is it takes an extraordinary amount of energy and he has to be super light. He was always considered underweight, though the doctors could never figure out why. The scientists he works with though, found out that when he had been experimented on as a child, they had made his bones lighter as well as fixed his lungs so he has a greater lung capacity as well as air-sockets like that of a bird - so that he can fly at great heights without getting lightheaded. He still is considered underweight, and he can never seem to get enough food in him to keep up with the amount he burns off daily. He also has to get large amounts of sleep. If he gets neither enough food, nor enough sleep, he is prone to pass out at random which can be exceptionally dangerous if he does happen to crash in that manner.
