SLAYERS

Humans empowered above and beyond most normal mortals. Whether this is the result of tools or a singular force of will, no Slayer is quite a normal person anymore. They are alienated from their fellow man, and in some cases even giving up their humanity to fight the monsters that threaten common folk.

A Slayer is a free person. With this comes all the responsibility of freedom and of power. Power is not always physical, either - knowledge is very much a form of power. The cost to be paid, therefore, is not always in blood or deed. Slayers are alienated from society, and that is without fail the first sacrifice to be made.

A Slayer also has the capacity to be more than the people left behind. That is one of the rewards of the path, and allows them to cope. Survival, at all costs, becomes a mantra. One must recognize, therefore, that the society which cast you out still has things you need, and they still need you to fight monsters.

Remain useful, and they’ll feed you, pay you, and ask you to leave. And you do, because they still outnumber you, and killing even one can bring the whole crowd down on your head.

  • See the Freelancer. She is a woman much like any other who one night declared ‘enough is enough.’ She picked up the spear her grandfather brought back from the war, and went out to face the monster that was stealing children. She is one of the people, and they love her for it.

She is walking the path they know in their hearts to be called ‘Hero’, and they fear her in equal measure; she is like them, but she is no longer one of them. She has slain men as easily as monsters, and often, she sees no difference.

These are flavourful examples, to give you an idea of what to expect. You're not completely bound to them.

So far, we have a Monk and an Inquisitor, which should make for entertaining theological friction.

This campaign will use the default Crucible: Dark Age setting and rules.

Don't worry; you don't need to read the whole thing.

I'd like five players but will settle for three.

They're all Slayers - think of that as the line, and Alchemists are one of the splats.

The tab causes that confusion.

Then, Alchemist. We already have theological friction, then we add the arcane scientist. :D
