~BASIC INFORMATION~

Role: The Deer

Name: Erum Khan

Nicknames: Rum

Species: Human

Age: 17

P.O.B: Sylhet, Bangladesh

D.O.B:: May 9th 1974

Gender: Female

Pronouns: She/Her

Sexuality: Bisexual

-PERSONALITY-

Basic personality description: Shy, quiet, and introspective, Erum prefers to fading into the background then standing out, an instinct that’s saved her many a time from embarrassment. However, that doesn’t stop Erum from having a good time, as they constantly come up with a variety of hilarious, borderline stupid ideas for escapades, whether stealing a car from the local auto dealership to drive all the way to toronto in able to get there in time for a concert to sneaking into a senior party, expect to be dragged into a litany of increasingly stupid situations. (There is no escape). Caring, and kind, Erum is willing to sit through a huge rant in order to comfort someone.

Character traits: bites their hair a lot, pulls their sweater sleeves down to cover their palms

Virtues: Caring, kind, Enthusiastic

Vices: Hot-headed, fearful, nervous, impulsive

Relationships outside of the group: Her mother, father, and twin sister

Thoughts on the group? Do they get along?: As the resident ‘Deer’ of the group, it’s safe to say Erum gets along with the group as a whole. She’s commonly relied upon to keep the peace in the group, and while she does do it, she sometimes feels bitter that she’s the one designated to solve group disputes and whatnot. She is closer to a few members of the group then the rest, and there are members of the group who she dislikes but treats cordially.

Do they have a job? Maybe part-time? If yes, what is it? Do they like it? If not, why?: A part time job at the local Movie Theater. They enjoy peeking in at the movies others are watching as well as helping themselves to the popcorn machine.

Likes: Dancing, History, Knitting

Dislikes: Bitter Melon, Boxing, Raw Cabbage

Loves: Anime, Horror Movies, Theology, Food

Hates: Cooking, Geometry, Cockroaches

Thoughts on the Alternates, MC, and all of that? Do they think it's real?
Erum, upon her first viewing of the tapes, thought it was a strange, unsettling experience crafted by a few bored film students. She didn’t give any more thought to it afterwards, pushing it to the back of her mind and attempting to convince the rest of the group that it couldn’t possibly be real. However, upon her arrival to Mandela Country and barely surviving her encounter with an Alternate, Erum wholeheartedly believes in the existence of Alternates, and is terrified. Partially blames MC for this whole mess.

Backstory: Born to parents Taimiyyah Chowdhury and Faruz Khan in a small rural village in Sylhet, Bangladesh, Erum’s early childhood was full of alternating periods of turmoil and laughter, surrounded by her large family in an expansive family compound. Erum was born three years after Bangladesh’s independence, and witnessed many changes in the fledgling nation, though she doesn’t remember all of them. In 1983, her father managed to snag a visa to Canada, and two years later Erum, her mother, and siblings followed, leaving behind everything they’d ever known to search for a better life. The family settled in Maplewood, Canada, when Erum was 11 years old. Her father began working as a cabbie, while her mother worked as a waitress at the local diner. Erum was a star student when they were younger, climbing to the top of her class. They managed to get a scholarship to Maplewood Academy, but almost immediately realized she was out of her depth. Bullied tremendously for her accent and poverty, Erum shrunk into herself, becoming quiet and nervous. However, one day when she was heading home after school, she was accosted by a couple of bullies- Marie Merde and Piper Thomas. The two girls were incredibly rich and part of the popular girls, who seemed to live to bully Erum. On this day, their taunts became even more harsh, before the encounter nearly turned physical as the girls tried to shove Erum in a locker. Thankfully, Erum was saved by Aliya (MC of the group), who helped her get rid of the girls. The two became fast friends, and through her Erum was introduced to the rest of the group.
