Realistic or Modern Talos: Advanced Hell

Twenty years ago the island nation of Talos was changed forever through the discovery of Panacea, a medical treatment that could cure almost any aliment that effected the body and fixed any damage taken so long as the person it was applied to was still living. After this discovery came a number of other scientific advancements due to the nation having its own set of rules and ethics allowing them to push certain discoveries past the point where other nations would put pause to said things.

The rise of various advancements and technologies would have normally made Talos a power on the world stage, however their isolationist policies prevent all but a small amount of people through the borders of the nation every year. Once within the borders they would discover a place unrivaled in the world, where technologies out of science fiction books are on display. People with mechanical prosthetics with a full range of motion as normal limbs, people openly wielding weapons on full display, and even the occasional street brawl through the streets of the capital Valic.

This has to do with an open law, so long as one doesn't kill a citizen of Talos all other acts are allowed, and given the existence of Panacea there is quite a bit that can be done before death. And even then it has to be proven. The streets at night are dangerous, due to the gangs of enhanced people, the 'Hachettemen' who carve up people and take them in the dark of the night, and any number of other odds and end make the city a living death trap for anyone from outside.

Thus it is almost necessary for those who enter the city to find protection for themselves, and that is where my character enters, Vincent Markus. Professionally bodyguard and one of the few humans to have a reaction to Panacea that gives him strange abilities, marking him as an 'Abnormal' who even without mechanical enhancements or surgical boosts makes him beyond human nature.

So as for your character why are they there? To find a lost relative? Discover the secret of Panacea? Maybe they were kidnapped and hired Vincent to get them out. Plenty of stories are possible in this setting and I am happy to tell them with you
